OS X Lion - Mail send no paper clips icon

I just buy the new MacBook Pro, I got problem on OS X Lion, when I sent out e-mail with attachment, the send box attachment column does not show the paper clips, just only the send box can't show the paper clips on my new send e-mail, I have already contacted the Apple Support on Hong Kong but they told me the new version will never show the paper clips on send box, I am very confuse why new version will not show the paper clips, but still have attachment column.
Actually the Hong Kong Apple Support are totally rubbish, because I ask many question such as how to migrate the address book, they also can't answer my question, all problem i need to solve myself.

This is a bug still in May 2012. The workaround solution is to set up a rule as below.
1 - Create a rule in the Mail Preferences pane
2 - Call it "Get My Paperclip Icons Back!"
3 - Set conditions as below :
A - If ALL of the following conditions are met :
B - From Ends With [Your email address here]
C - Any Attachment Name Contain "." [with the quotations around the dot]
Perform the following actions :
D - Mark as Read [which really makes no impact on how its viewed]
Click Ok. When message "Do you want to apply your rules to messages in selected mailboxes?" I chose "Dont Apply". [But you can click "Apply" if you are in the "Sent Folder"
Then go to your sent folder, Select your messages [recent/all], and right click "Apply Rules" or from the menu Message -> Apply Rules.
Voilla! Paperclip icons are back.

Right now I don't have a method to "fix" this, you may Press Ctrl + Alt + 7 or Ctrl + Alt + 8 to submit your feedback. Once Microsoft hears users' voice, it may be fixed in future updates or versions. Anyway, currently I can't guarantee when it will be fixed.
I'll inform you as soon as there's a fix.

In Mountain Lion, Mail why no "view as icon" option

I used to be able to compose a message, attach a PDF and right click to "view as icon." Now when I attach, I see a preview of the doc. When I save as a draft, the PDFs appear as icons. When a PC user receives them, will they arrive as PDF attachments icons only showing or will it show a preview of the doc in their opening window?

In Mountain Lion mail, it is still possible to switch between a preview and an icon of an attachment.
How somebody else is seeing it when he/she is receiving it it totally up to their mail app. It has nothing to do with PC or Mac or whatever system they use.
So you have basically no real chance to control what the receipient will see when looking at your mail.

Since the last update, I cannot attach a file to my email in MobileMe. It has always worked until the latest update. Now, nothing happens when you click on the paper clip icon and 'choose' the file to add.

I am using MobileMe on my Mac. Until the last update a few days ago, Firefox always allowed me to attach files to my emails. Now, when I click on the paper clip, and it takes to me find the file I want to attach, and I highlight the file I want to attach and click on 'open', nothing at all happens. the screen just goes back to my email. It always worked before, it does not now. It DOES work on Safari but I hate Safari, i want to use firefox.

Press and hold Shift and left-click the Reload button.
Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)

Does Lion Mail send saved Drafts like Notes?

After saving an email as "Draft", I also received it in my Inbox. However, my Sent items box does not contain the email. Is this normal?

When trying to attach files to my e-mail I roll over the paper clip icon and attachment it doesn't high lite, I'm using Hotmail, it does the same thing for office docs and photos

I agree with the Thomas, in that I think you have mucked up your settings in the AOL account. Your username should be something like - [email protected] Your password is whatever you use as the password.
You could try deleting the account and start over again. Here is a link to a "how to set up AOL email " on the iPad. It is 4 or 5 step process and just make sure that you are entering the correct information in the correct fields in the set up. Among my 4 email accounts on my iPad, I have 2 AOL accounts. I have no problems at all and it was really very easy to set up. There is no reason why AOL email should not work on your iPad.
To repeat and emphasize - Just make sure that you are entering the correct information in the appropriate fields as I think that's where you are making your mistakes.
If I had my choice, I would probably chuck the AOL accounts as well, but I have all the spam filters set as high as I can on the server, and it has cut down tremendously on the spam. Unfortunately - we set up AOL accounts at my workplace years ago and I really hesitate to change them now, so I continue on with these, but like I said, they work fine and they were very easy to set up.

I'm trying to send a jpeg from the Imac to a windows PC. The windows PC doesn't recognize it as a "file" with the paper clip. Why? The same file from my iPhone makes it fine. It is sent as "windows friendly" attachment.

This is very frustrating. I use Aperture and share pictures all the time. The thought that some people can't download jpeg images I send them is very troubling. As a test, I'm sending them to my work PC which is in front of me. The file arrives and can be seen in the email, but it does not show up as an attachment and therefore you can't save it. There's no paper clip in the file when it arrives. When it's sent, it shows the number of files being sent and the size. And like I said, if I send a file from my Iphone it arrives as a jpeg file fine on my work pc. I have checked my default settings and they are set to "windows friendly attachments". I'm not sure what "at the bottom of the email" means really. This seems to happen wether I originate the request form Aperture or from the email program on my Imac. Help!!

No, that doesn't work for me. And things seem to be inconsistent. Where it lets you vary the file size (small/medium/large/actual) when large and actual are the same, it doesn't send the actual jpeg file for windows to open. When large and actual size files are different when you toggle between the two, the file seems to go through to my windows pc ok. When I tried this through preview, that's when I noticed this difference, not through just email or Aperture yet. Help!

I am using Firefox and have used Firefox in the past. This just started to occur extremely recently. I have never had a problem with this in the past. When I attach a document in an email, it seems fine, even after I send it. However, the person doesnt get the option to download or view the attachment. Scroll down to the bottom of the email. Is there a message there to download the rest of the email?
Quit Mail and try again. Go to the Home screen and double click the Home button. That will reveal the row of recently used apps at the bottom of the screen. Tap and hold on the app in question until it jiggles and displays a minus sign. Tap the minus sign to actually quit the app. Then tap anywhere on the screen above that bottom row to return the screen to normal. Then restart the app and see if it works normally.

This is a little screen shot of it.
I am new to mail. And I have it set up with Gmail and IMAP. And every so often it keeps sending me back my deleted messages. At first it was 2000 message lots. And as the screen shot in the link shows. One time it wanted to send me 8000 messages. I just want my deleted messages to stay deleted. From Mail, from Gmail, from everything. But they don't seem to want to stay deleted. I don't know if I have det up anything wrong. But it's pretty frustrating.
If anyone can help me I'll be really appreciative.

They are being sent to the All Mail folder. The inbox is pretty much unaffected.
I don't want to hide the All Mail folder and forget about it. I am after the messages gone forever. Especially from the All Mail folder.
I'm the kind of person who uses email like sms. I use it to contact people annd delete 95% of the messages after reading. I don't want them archived. I don't want them stored in the All Mail folder. I want them totally gone.
And yes it seems Mail is downloading all my messages over and over. So my question is how to stop the messages being stored/archived and to instead be totally deleted.
In the gmail settings I found:
Auto-Expunge off - Wait for the client to update the server.
When a message is marked as deleted and expunged from the last visible IMAP folder: Immediately delete the message forever. Instead of archiving it like I had set before. I'm not 100% sure if that'll fix the issue I am having. I'm sure you'll be able to tell me if I am on the right track.

Select Window ▹ Connection Doctor from the Mail menu bar. You should see a green dot next to each of the mail servers you've defined. Is that what you see? If not, click the Show Details button. A drawer opens at the bottom of the window. If there's text in that drawer, please post it. If not, click Check Again and post the text that appears. Edit out any personal information before posting.
