Os x maverick is not downloading

I have gone to the app store and clicked to download the OS X Maverick.  It does not appear to  be downloading.  Any suggestions?

One other suggestion that some agree with and others do not. I find that closing all Applications and restarting your computer always works best for me. It eliminates a lot of unnecessary clutter. Now try to  download Mavericks again.

Check that your computer is compatible with Mountain Lion/Mavericks.
To check the model number hold down the option/alt key, go to the Apple menu and select System Information.

  • OS X Mavericks does not download, infact shows downloaded but it doesn't appear anywhere in Launchpad and neither can I download it again

I am having trouble downloading the OS X Mavericks. In my initial attempt to download the update from the App Store, it started downloading but stalled. It wasn't paused, but just stalled. I restarted the Mac and tried to install it again. The next time the download commenced but stalled after reaching a certain point (it appears to have tried to restart from where it left off earlier), but the download doesn't continue. Says "Mac OS X Mavericks failed to download". Now on deleting the icon from Launchpad, when I try to install it again from the App Store, it shows downloaded. How do I restart the download process and install Mac OS X Mavericks? I am currently on OS X Lion 10.8.5.

Yes, I do have an external drive, which I now disconnected and restarted the Mac to try installing. Didn't work.
I then kept it disconnected and restarted in Safe Mode, which again when trying to download showed "Downloaded". So didn't work.
Then tried one final time by plugging the external drive back in, and starting in normal mode and it appeared to have started downloading once again.
Unfortunately, it didn't give up so easily and the download is now stuck at 996MB.I think it's really testing my patience now.  I tried looking up the communities for a similar issue and see that others have had their download stop at 996MB, but it seems to be an ISP/Router related issue, and I don't have alternatives for either.
Have written to the local Apple retailer for support, fingers crossed.

  • Mavericks does not download, it just stays in "waiting"

I'm not downloading anything currenlty (apart from the OS X) but the app just stays on "Waiting". When I restart the mac, the icon dissappears until i press the download button again in the App Store. But it won't change from waiting.

  • Mavericks will not download from the App store. Repeatedly receive a message that "an error has occurred. Try again"

I have repeatedly tried to download Mavericks from the App store. When attempted from the update tab it fails and instructs me to try again from the Purchases tab. When I try it there, I receive an error message that "an error has occurred" and to try again. I have successfully downloaded other apps (both Apple and third party) but Mavericks won't do it.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you boot, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, reboot as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.

  • Mavericks will not download. I always get the message "an error occured, go to purchases and try again". When I do that it still bombs. Any ideas?

I am running OS 10.8. on a macbook pro. I have not been able to download Mavericks, which the system tells me is an "upgrade". I get an error every time.

I just posted the same issue. I was reading some other posts and found that a restart actually allowed me to continue with the download. I hope this helps.

Make sure you are logged into your admin account to download Mavericks.
System Preferences > Users & Groups > Password
Make sure the Firewall is turned off in System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Firewall
Disable anti virus software if installed.
Network monitoring apps such as Little Snitch or Growl can prevent App Store downloads
Mavericks is a 5.35GB file. Make sure there's a least 15% free storage space.
Click your Apple menu  top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click About This Mac > More Info > Storage

  • Mavericks will not download from Appstore

My MacBook Pro 15" early 2011 model running Lion 10.7.5, wont download Mavericks. Using wi-fi internet connection, any ideas why or possible solutions, would be appreciated.

    susanann,
I have a slow DSL connection, and it took about five hours for me to download Mavericks. (It’s over 5 GB, so I’d let it download overnight, and wasn’t observing its progress.) If your internet connection is similar to mine, then perhaps it actually needs that long to download?
Have you also checked to see if your download is paused in Launchpad, despite not pausing it there yourself?

  • Mavericks will not download on iMac

My early 2008 iMac uses OS X 10.7.5. Yesterday, I tried downloading Mavericks.  The iMac froze up.  When I go it running, I could not find the download. Now, when I try downloading anew, the iMac will not do anything.  I have checked Launch Pad, and the download is not there. Any suggestions?

Try logging in as the admin user and then downloading and installing the software. The /Users folder contains all the home folders for all the users on the system - and whenever you login the default icon for this home folder is always a "home" icon.
Make sure to install the software so that "All users" can use it, not just the person installing it - software installers usually ask you this question.
    good luck...

  • Mail in Mavericks is not downloading mail messages if I read them in iOS mail app. Why?

    More info:
The accounts in question are domains hosted by Google.  Needless to say this is frustrating as in some cases I have to download the attachments in those messages, I have to forward the emails to another account in order to see them.
I have a feeling if a message is marked read the mail application does not bother to grab them.  This is a different behaviour than before prior to the update.  I'd appreciate any solutions.
    Thanks in advance.

  • OS X Mavericks will not download

I got my harddrive changed. They installed the initial program I had on this laptop. I was then told to download my iWorks 09, Software Update and then to go into apple store and download whatever else was pending.
OS X Maverick was pending with the iWorks (Pages, Numbers and Keynote). I have downloaded Maverick numerous times through the Apple Store and through Purchases and pressed download. In the first screen it says it will save to Macintosh HD and then another saying .... minutes remaining. Then I get the next screen saying installing. Then the next screen saying the computer will restart automatically. And finally there is no Maverick on my computer. It remains in purchases with the option to download. Same occurs with iMovie.
    Can you help me please?
    Thanks!!
