OS X Mavericks: Supported digital camera RAW formats. Leica M.

Raw support for the Leica (DNGs) is available according to the list of supported cameras. However when loading Leica M raw files on my iPad I only get blurred pictures of the images in iPhoto. Is the support only for compressed DNG files? I am using uncompressed DNGs.

  • Problems installing HT5371 OS X Mountain Lion: Supported digital camera RAW formats

I've downloaded the above file, but when I try to install it I get a message saying that  Aperture version 3.4 or later, or iPhoto version 9.4 or later, is required to install this update.  I have iPhoto 11 9.4.2 installed, but not Aperature.  Has anyone experienced a similar issue?

  • Digital camera RAW formats supported - Canon EOS 7D

Does anyone know if and when Canon's 7D RAW images will be supported by Aperture 2.1? I just got the 7D and Aperture is not recognizing the RAW images. What is the typical lag time for Apple to add new camera model RAW files?

How about whining about their still not having issued a RAW update to handle the Olympus E-620. That was released the first of May.
I realize there aren't the number of buyers as some of the Nikons and Canons, but come on...can adding a RAW format to the library be that big a task? I'm sure that most of Aperture's customers buy new cameras with some regularity (since the technology is changing so fast). Why routinely aggravate them by taking a long time to add the new cameras?
I getting REALLY tired of exporting jpgs and then reimporting them just so I can see more than a thumbnail (I have the camera save jpgs and RAWs simultaneously, but Aperture won't show the jpegs if there is a RAW version as well).

  • HT4757 when apple will release digital camera RAW formats for Fuji Xpro 1 ?

I'be been waiting for the update for long? The currently release dng also not supported by aperture?
Apple , please take care of this issue.. Thank you.

You're not addressing Apple here, and no one knows any more than you do about what Apple will do.

  • Since Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 4.03 Aperture no longer supports by 20D CR2 images. Is this a known problem? And when it going to be fixed?

Has anyone else run into this problem since the update?

The Raw support for Canaon EOS 20D is built directly into the Mac OS X, since Mac OS X Lion, see:
OS X Lion: Supported digital camera RAW formats: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4757
OS X Mountain Lion: Supported digital camera RAW formats: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5371
This is independent of Aperture. What is the problem? Do you get "unsupported image format" error messages?

  • Digital camera RAW compatibility Update

What is this update and is it important in the running of my OS?  I'm not sure why I am getting these updates from the AP store but ever since I updated to Yosemite, I've gotten two of these.  Can someone please explain to me what this update actually is?
    Thanks!

    Hello LBann,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
These digital camera RAW compatibility updates allow different digital cameras to use the RAW format when importing to programs such as Aperture and iPhoto. Please read over the attached article for more information.

  • Is every Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update necessary?

Knowledge base doc (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3825) says  “Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard provides system-level support for digital camera RAW formats.” so I assume a system update includes Digital Camera RAW Combatibility updates.
Before I updated from 10.6.6 to 10.6.8, SU showed I needed Dig Cam RAW Com update 3.7 which I didn’t do.  After the update to 10.6.8, I needed 3.12 so v3.7 through 3.11 must have been included in the OS X update.  Before I got around to doing 3.12, I found SU showed 3.13; I assume each update includes the past ones as well.
My cameras, Samsung Pro 815s, predate the updates.
I continue to do the updates thnking there might be some unmentioned secuirity issues included in the update that are not mentioned, but -- really -- is it necessary to keep doing these particular updates?
Do folks continue to do these ad infinitum as new cameras are added?
Should I eventually purchase different cameras, could I then find the relevant update and just install it?

In my first post I mentioned:
Before I got around to doing 3.12, I found SU showed 3.13; I assume each update includes the past ones as well.
You, TD, kindly added this information - thank you:
Further, Camera Raw updates get rolled into the next OS update anyway, so the next time you update your OS you catch up anyway.
However, I’m running 10.6.8 and probably staying there - so no more OS updates for me.
I do updates manually checking SU first.
As I said above, when I didn’t do 3.12 update (but I did download the installer), it was later replaced in SU by 3.13.
It really is not a big deal, but just a matter of curiosity - do you know if the update for 3.12 was included in 3.13?  (The list of supported cameras for 3.13 does not include the one for 3.12.)
As I said, it matters not, just curious how smart SU really is (because I have another really big issue with SU and am just waiting to ask that question later...)
    Thanks again,
    Mrs H

  • Digital Camera RAW update 2.1 (requires 10.5.3) XSi/450D support:

    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/digitalcamerarawcompatibilityupdate21.htm l
Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 2.1
About Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 2.
This update extends RAW file compatibility for Aperture 2 and iPhoto ’08 for the following cameras:
Canon EOS Digital Rebel XSi/Kiss Digital x2/450D
    Epson R-D1
    Leaf AFi 7
    Leaf AFi 6
    Leaf AFi 5
    Pentax K200D
    Pentax K20D

Firstly, the best method I have found (superior to Adobe Import/Convert/Export) is to install the software from the A300 CD - I know, blasphemy. Anyhow, you can delete all except for the RAW Image Converter, which lets you do raw editing, its decent, and then export into whatever file type and size that is convenient for you, though its not the same as native Raw support, I know.
Quirks: Not many, its a great camera, I've had mine for about a month and a half now. The AF Assist light drains battery like an electric car, and I can't say that I totally appreciate the inability to invert the focus ring direction. Ergonomics whilst wearing glasses is mediocre at best and your screen will get dirty - you'll have to deal with it. Otherwise, its absolutely an amazing camera, DO NOT RETURN YOURS!!! As you can see, there are a few quirks, but if I were to write down its positives above cameras prices three times as much, the list would take up pages. keep it, its too good to care for the little things like that.

  • Aperture Expert is reporting that Digital Camera RAW 4.0.5 supporting Fuji sensors is out...

It should be available via Software Update.
    http://www.apertureexpert.com/tips/2013/4/17/digital-camera-raw-update-405-for-a perture-and-iphoto-fujifi.html
    New cameras supported:
    Fujifilm X20
    Fujifilm X100S
    Fujifilm X-E1
    Fujifilm X-Pro1
I would expect it would also be available for download here:
    http://support.apple.com/downloads/
But isn't there yet.  I guess there may be numerous fewer threads here related to Fuji now ;-)

The Mountain Lion raw support article also lists the update already - I had to remember to clear the Browser Cache to see it
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5371
And it was available at the AppStore for download more than an hour ago, but grouped with the pre-release software update, even if the update itself was not marked as pre-release seed.

  • Apple Digital Camera RAW Support 2.2. update

After todays Apple Security Update 2008-007 the Apple Digital Camera RAW Support 2.2. update finally works correctly and the data can be aquired via card reader.
    Message was edited by: jdonath

    Lucky you jdonath....
I have still have the problem that have been mentioned in a number of posts in the forum, and what I guess you are refering to. And I have tried the advices I have found in those posts. I must admit that I might not have found them all.
The CF card on my Nikon D2Xs shows in finder, .nef files are there, but Aperture 2.1.1 don´t recognize my files only the card itself.
I use a card reader-not transferring files directly from the camera. I have installed the latest security update and camera raw 2.2. I have tried to go back to version 2.1 of the raw converter with no luck. I have repaired permissions, both with Onyx and with the disk tool in OSX.
Aperture opens when I put the CF card in the reader and it shows in the import option/drives window in Aperture, but the files are somewhere in outer space or at least hidden and unavailable for import.
So for now my solution is to dump the files to a picture dump folder on my hard-drive and import them from there to one of the libraries I use.
I have different libraries for work and private files in case someone wondered
It does not make any difference which library I use the problem is persistent. This feels like unnecessary work and not a very satisfying sollution in my workflow.
Yeah, yeah i use both belt and suspenders so the files are kept safe on an external drive as well. Manually copied of course... and btw i use a combo of referenced and managed files, but that should not make any difference. I have tried to alter that in the import options, with no apparent result of course.
Can anyone give me a hint what could (still) be wrong or do I have to be moderately patient and wait till next sunrise (it is late autumn and dark in Norway this time of year) , when Apple sends out version 2.3 and make a prayer that they remember that some photographers are still back in the stone age when comes to cameraequipment... ( I wish someone gave me a D3)
And just to make the confusion complete... It used to work BEFORE the security update last night...
    Cheers and my 2 cents

  • Since Digital Camera RAW Compatibility 3.01, E-30 Support unusable!

I can't Update Digital Camera RAW Compatibility since 3.0, because Olympus E-30 RAW is since then unusable, I thought Apple might fix that, but they don't seem to pay enough attention to Olympus Cameras, however, everything above 3.0 it's so contrasty, and the full dynamic of the pictures is lost. so completely unusable, when DSLR pictures look worse than some 8 year old Pictures of a Camera Handy. Does Apple don't know about that, do they don't care, or do I don't know about how I can fix that?

    Nothing?

  • Digital Camera RAW Compatibility 6, Nikon NEF, ICloud & QuickView issue

Since a few weeks (maybe more) it appeared to me that my Nikon D7000 Raw Files went as plain black pictures on my IOS devices (Iphone or Apple TV running latests IOS releases).
    Summary of the situation
    Camera to Aperture => Fine
Aperture to ICloud photostream => ko
After some tests based on the discussion bellow
RAW files suddenly show up as "not supported" (Aperture 3.5.1, OS X 10.10)
it came clear to me that the key issue is related to Digital Camera Raw Update Compatibility Update 6. I made some tests using QuickView, iMessage & Aperture :
Test 1 : uninstall  Digital Camera Raw Update Compatibility 6 and install version 5.07
    Aperture => non supported format
QuickView (space bar) on NEF file => fine
Sent to my IPhone using IMessage => fine
    Test 2 : reinstall 6.0.3
    Aperture => fine
QuickView => plain black (after a time, I think QuickView is using first the camera preview before decoding RAW data)
Sent to my IPhone using IMessage => plain black
Did someone experienced the same ? Any solution ???
    Kind regards,

    Dear Torreypines,,
thanks for your reply. However I quoted the discussion "RAW files suddenly show up as "not supported" (Aperture 3.5.1, OS X 10.10)" to illustrate my test method (uninstall and install an older Digital Camera Raw Update Compatibility).
I do run the latests Aperture Update (updated directly from the Mac App Store).
To illustrate, here is a screenshot of an IMessage discussion.
Action : drag and drop a Nikon D7000 NEF file to the discussion and send it to an IPhone
    - Test 1 : Yosemite, Aperture, Digital Camera Raw... up to date => plain black
    - Test 2 : Older (5.07) Digital Camera Raw => picture ok (unfortunately, Aperture ko)
This illustrate also what appends into ICloud. All NEF files uploaded since a few weeks are plain black into photostream on IOS Devices (Iphone and Apple TV).
    Kind regards,
    Jérôme

  • Unable to update to Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 5.03

This is probably an Apple Update issue, but is anyone else experieincing a greyed out Update button.  I restarted and the update button was available again.  Initieated download, but got no message about installing our any success in updating it, so for now it remains in my update available pane for several days.  Real pain!  Any ideas on how to force or troubleshoot this update issue?  Running Mavericks 10.9.1

What is your Aperture version? Is it compatible with the latest raw support? At least Aperture 9.4.5
Any ideas on how to force or troubleshoot this update issue?
Have you checked, if the update has actually been installed? You can see in the "About" panel the version of raw support that Aperture is using.
If the raw support has not been installed, try to download it from the Support page:
Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 5.03  http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1717
Sometimes you can recover unfinished downloads by using the menu item "Store > Check for unfinished downloads" in the App Store menu.
