OS X Mavericks upgrade prevents access to Sky Go??

Since downloading OS X Mavericks I cannot access Sky Go, this is reported to be due to Silverlight and browser settings, however all of these have been checked and are OK. Does anyone have a solution??

That IMO that is a problem in the build of the new apps.
You can file feedback here. The more who file the more chance it will get fixed.

  • BPC Upgrade prevents access to some applications

    Hi guys.
I am currently testing an upgrade of BPC from 7.0 to 7.5 SP5.
However, I have a really wierd problem.
When the upgrade is done, I have restored back the AppSet to test and fully processed it.
This allows access to everything as expected in ONE application (Let's call it APP1).
When I try to login to a different application (say APP2), I can see it in the list (I definitely had access before the upgrade), but if I select it and OK, I am taken back in to App1 - Not the one I just requested.
I am about to go and re-process everything from security, through Apps and Dims, but has anyone any other ideas, as I only have today to get this tested?
    Thanks

Please ignore - User Mappings and Task Profiles had been "lost".
Once users were reassigned, access was restored.

  • I am using a Palm Pilot still for several purposes, and the desktop version can run om my Mac OS X 10.6.8, but I cannot find a version that runs on OS X Mavericks, which prevents me from upgrading as my PalmPilot is storage for vital info.

I am using a Palm Pilot still for several purposes, and the desktop version can run om my Mac OS X 10.6.8, but I cannot find a version thjat runs on OS X Mavericks, which prevents me from upgrading as my PalmPilot is storage for vital info. Any solution?

Thank for for your suggestions. Unfortunately they are of little help. I am running on Snow Leopard and the PalmDesktop works fine. However, I do not want to quit my PalmTungsten unit as it is my backup for all my important access information. If it cannot run on Mavericks and no other solution is at hand, I simply will not update my OS X, but work on my Snow Leopard as it is.
I do not know how on earth I can migrate the information from my Palm into another system, and then quit the PalmPilot. If you have any intelligent solutions to this I would appreciate an input. A manual copy and paste solution is not acceptable. I may however run it on Windows via Parallel Desktop, but it is a lousy solution, and demonstrates (again) the weakness of Apple's OS and lack of compatibility. I am not impressed by the OS X performance.
    Thank your for your attention.

  • Mail Issues since maverick upgrade

Since upgrading to Mavericks I have been having the several issues with Mail. The are as follows:
Scrolling is available intermittently or not working at all (using Magic Mouse)
Problem: Scrolling works for a while when using mail, then stops working. I have to click on the side bar to go up and down on all scroll screction within mail. This issue only resolves when quitting Mail, and sometimes will only work again when shutting down and restarting my iMac.
Scrolling on folders withing the main body of my iMac also stop working from time to time and only resolves when force quitting finder, or restarting my mac (or somethime shutting down and restarting the mac).
Email address pull down menu does not close down
Problem: When typing an new email and selecting an outgoing address the pull down menu appears, but once an address is chosen using the mouse curser the pull down menu remains on screen and does not close down automatically. I can not close it with teh mouse curser and have to use the keyboard (return or tab buttins) to close down the drop down address menu. It used to close down prior to Maverick upgrade. The pull down menu remains on screen blocking access to the CC and Subject sections.
Saving Mail attachments to desktop folders does not work.
Problem: Saving attachements from mail does not work at all using the drop down menu within mail. The process of using the save attachments menu within mail seems to work, but when you go to the folder after using this process, the item or items have not been saved.
Click and drag is the only way to move attahcements from mail to desktop folders now.
Mail will not quit automatically when shutting down Imac
Problem: When shutting down my iMac, mail will no longer quit automatically and prevents the shut down. Once shut down has been selected, Mail will no longer quit and I have to use Force Quite to shut it down.
Would welcome suggestions on how to resolve these issue.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled on some models, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models.  The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

  • IMac won't sleep after Mavericks upgrade

After installing the Mavericks upgrade, I notice that my late 2012 iMac computer does not enter sleep mode, while my monitor does.  The Energy saver settings are the same as before the upgrade (computer and monitor sleep after 10 minutes, i.e., system default settings).  Has anyone else experienced this?
    Thanks for any comments.
    LB

This is always due to a process keeping the system awake, but determining which is the challenge.
A first simple step is to create a new, temporary user account. Log out of yours and log into the temporary one. Determine if it sleeps then. If it does then you have a login item that is preventing sleep. System Preferences > Users & Groups > Login Items.
Whenever you suspect a problem related to power, including sleep, an SMC reset is also recommended.
Active Spotlight indexing will prevent sleep. Wait for it to complete. Allow a considerable amount of time following an OS X upgrade.
Check your Sharing preferences for anything that could permit an active network connection.
Energy Saver "Wake for network access" can prevent sleep, but unchecking it will prevent the ability to remotely access a sleeping Mac over a network. A normally functioning Mac will sleep according to Energy Saver, but will wake periodically for network access, after which it will return to sleep according to the settings in Energy Saver.
Unfinished print jobs will prevent sleep. If a print job is queued, but if the printer is off or the connection to it is lost, the Mac will stay awake forever waiting for the printer to return.
Safari pages that periodically refresh themselves are very common. This will prevent sleep.
Frequently checking for new mail may prevent sleep. Change Mail's preferences to check for new mail less frequently.
iTunes and iPhoto sharing will prevent sleep.
Active Bluetooth devices will prevent sleep.
Active USB devices will prevent sleep.
Using Time Machine over a network can prevent sleep.
There are plenty of third party utilities designed to prevent sleep. One may not have been completely uninstalled.
Quit the process with the name powerd in Activity Monitor. It will re-launch on its own.
Any number of "anti-virus" utilities can prevent sleep, along with other miseries. Get rid of them.

  • Mavericks upgrade from Mountain Lion deletes all user accounts

This is a lesson for upgrading too early (and too eagerly).
Today I tried the Mavericks upgrade from Mountain Lion on my 2007 Macbook Pro, after going through all the pre-installation/pre-upgrade checklists.
I don't think I have gone from a very high to a down low in such a short space of time.  I really wanted to move on from Mountain Lion and when the installer finished the upgrade to Mavericks and re-started my MBP, I was super excited.  When the restart completed and I was presented with the login prompt, I tried entering my user name and password.  First time, it shaked on the password... OK, you'd think that is a typo.  Re-entering the password... same thing.
You can imagine what ensued.  After entering my password v-e-r-y slowly many times, I started realising that something went very VERY wrong.
Just for information, I used two different user accounts on my MBP under Mountain Lion.  The one account had administrative priviledges and was only used for installing applications and a few other administrative tasks.  Then I have a second personal account, which does not have administrative priviledges and is the account I use daily for Mail, Safari, iTunes, programming etc.
None of those accounts worked under Mountain Lion.  Basically, there is no way in.
I then proceeded to boot with the startup option Cmd + S (command-line access).  Once that was completed, I was in as root and checked the /etc/passwd.  None of the user accounts were there.  I was only able to find two user accounts: root and nobody; and a long list of user account that started with an underscore (I think these are some sort of esoteric user accounts).  So, it appears that the Mavericks upgrade did not accurately bring over the user account information from my Mountail Lion installation.
Then, I went into the /Users directory and there I could see the home directories for all the users as they were defined under Mountain Lion.  The contents were intact too.
It seems to me that the Mavericks upgrade from my Mountain Lion forgot to bring over the user accounts but it did preserve the contents of all the users' home directories.
Unless anyone can spot some sort of user error here (please let me know), I am heading back to Mountain Lion pretty swiftly.  Otherwise, I suspect there is a bug in the Mavericks installer.
    Any assistance is appreciated.

The reason this occurred is a mystery and has not been commonly reported. Consider the following. It may or may not help. You should probably print these instructions before proceeding.
Boot Single User mode again and do the following:
(You can skip the first step. It will check your boot volume for errors and correct what it can. If there were errors the installer should not have proceeded, but the possibility exists that directory corruption may have occurred during installation. That seems unlikely to me but could explain what went wrong.)
    In Single User Mode:
At the :/ root# prompt, type fsck -fy and press Return or Enter. It will take a few moments to complete. If you are concerned that nothing is happening just press the Return key until you see the :/ root# prompt again.
Once the disk check is complete and the prompt returns, type mount -uw / and press Return / Enter.
Type launchctl load /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.opendirectoryd.plist and press Enter. If you get an error message you may ignore it.
Type ls /Users and press Enter. All of the usernames on the computer will be listed, which is helpful if you don’t know or remember what these are.
Type dscl . passwd /Users/username password while replacing username with one of the users displayed in the previous step and replacing password with the new password of your choice. Press Enter. You will likely get an error message about a file or directory not being found. You may ignore this.
    Type reboot and press Enter.

  • Problems after Mavericks upgrade

A few days ago, I installed the latest Mavericks upgrade.  I now cannot access the app store, which opens but doesn't show any icons or information - the pages are just blank.  Safari is also not working properly - it won't recognise the certificates from any secure sites, including this forum.  Facebook won't load properly, it only shows the bare html page.  I've tried restoring the system from a previous backup, but this doesn't work.  Can anyone help?

    Hi everyone,
    i have a solution!
well at least that worked for me.
It is nothing like a bug or software problem. It is just that after mavericks install for some reason i found a change in my Preview app preferences. So i set it correctly and now everything is back and working correctly.
Go to the Preview Preferences, then choose the "Images" section/tab, then choose "Size on screen equals size on printout" option, and thats it!
Try this out and I hope this works for you too!

  • Can't find the Mavericks upgrade download

    I have a MacBook5,2 Core 2 Duo (4 gb RAM) that's currently running Snow Leopard 10.6.8.
I want to download/install the Mavericks upgrade, but the links to Maverick are gone -- they go to the Yosemite download page.
Is there any way to find/download/install the Mavericks upgrade? Or is it no longer available?
Would an Apple Store be able to install Mavericks? Or would they also only have access to Yosemite?
If I really can't get Mavericks, should I upgrade to Yosemite (although I'd hate to do that before I see more feedback on it)? Or should I upgrade to Mountain Lion (I do have that on disk that I got from Apple a few years ago) for now?
The problem I have with my Macbook is that it's unbelievably slow. A friend suggested Mavericks might help.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I don't think HD space is the problem. I'm not an experienced user, but AFAICT, I have 63 GBs of space left.
When I bought the Macbook, it had only 2 GBs of RAM. A friend told me that was probably why it was so slow, so I added 2 more GBs. It didn't seem to make much difference. It seems to be a resources issue -- when I open and close apps, I don't think the resources are being freed up. I can only run one or two apps at a time. If I run Firefox with more than 5 or 6 tabs, open, operations slow to a crawl. Chrome is better, but if I have several tabs open, it slows down somewhat. Running Open Office's spreadsheet app at the same time also slows things down.
Anyway, my friend said that Mavericks was better at handling resources, so I wanted to try it. But it looks like I can't get it.

  • Finder Functions Hanging After Mavericks Upgrade

iMac has been hanging when executing finder functions. E.G. saving from web, saving to different location other than application/system default, printing/saving as pdf, or attaching files to webmail/mail/outlook/webpages. Performance was great, pretty much flawless and started after Mavericks upgrade. Have done everything suggested from Apple support or 3rd party forums. Repaired permissions, cleared cache, cleared pram, turned off log-in items not needed, restored OS, etc., nothing has worked. I am ready to reformat and start from scratch. Anyone have the same experience and found a solution?

Might be corrupted Finder preferences ...
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following:
    ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist
Click Go then move the com.apple.finder.plist file to the Trash.
    Restart your Mac.
If that didn't help, check the startup disk for errors.
Launch Disk Utility located in HD > Applications > Utilities
Select the startup disk on the left then select the First Aid tab.
Click:  Verify Disk  (not Verify Disk Permissions)
If DU reports errors, restart your Mac while holding down the Command + R keys. From there you can access the built-in utilities to repair the disk using OS X Recovery

  • Imac not responding after mavericks upgrade- black screen

Ever since I upgraded to Mavericks 2-3 weeks ago ....if I leave my mac for a while and then try to wake it up with a touch of mouse or keyboard, the screen remains black. The mac is still on as its warm .The only way to recover this is to :
    1. Pull out the plug - gives fresh reboot
    2. Keep the start button pressed for approx 5-10 secs, then press it again and the mac powers up...to the state it was when left ie not a fresh reboot.
This is very annoying , has my wife yelling at me and no longer gives us the instant access from sleep we used to have ...
    Any help appreciated !
    Thanks Jon.
I have a 27" iMac from August 2010 (ie v soon after CPU upgrade) , core i3 processor

OK I appear to have fixed this ...after the Mavericks upgrade the screensaver was reset to loading photo's from "national geographic" which it did after a few mins...i have changed this to another option photo's of earch/space etc..now i can wake the imac from sleep immediately as before ....so now fixed !

  • Massive Battery Drain After Mavericks Upgrade on 11" 2013 MacBook Air?

I got my Air about month before Mavericks came out and the battery life was amazing on it. I was easily getting 14-10 hours of life using Chrome and Air Mail App, along with Power Point and MS Word. After the upgrade to Mavericks, it was slow but I started to notice that my battery life during classes was draining so much faster than before and I had not added anything 3rd party software, just the upgrade. I am now down to about 3.5 - 4.5 hours of battery life doing about the same things as before the upgrade. I did a couple of apps and I added (Sims 3 game). However, I have yet to touch it because of the diminished battery life.
I have included a copy of my Etrecheck, can somone take a look and let me know if you think I need to clean something off?
I did do the SMC reset and that seemed to to give a little juice (like putting new tire on your car but still not where it was before the Mavericks upgrade) as I am up to about 6 hours of battery life after the SMC reset.
Please let me know what other information you might need from me that would help and thank you so much!!

    Hi Lex,
Not sure why but I had a hard time finding all of the related files to get rid of Origin. But I think I finally got them. I just uninstalled Flash and Chrome. I don't like Safari but all well. I suppose I can deal with it it until Apple fixes this battery issue and then maybe I can go back to Chrome. Safari isn't too happy with certain websites, under the Preferences/Security there is an error message that reads "Google Safe Browsing Service Is Not Available. Has not been updated in 8 days."
Haven't noticed a change in battery since doing all of this so let me know if it will take a couple of days to reset. Or if you see anything else that I can do to help. Thank!

  • Prevent Access to APEX Login

I have installed 3.0.1 on XE using port 8095 and need to allow access to two applications via the Internet using two different domain names. I have set iptables to only allow outside access to port 80 on IP 123.123.123.123. I am using Apache to direct requests to the correct application. Here is the code that I am using:
    <VirtualHost *:80>
    ServerName domain.com
    ServerAdmin [email protected]
    RewriteEngine on
    RewriteRule ^/$ http://domain.com/apex/ [R]
    RewriteRule ^/apex/$ http://123.123.123.123:8095/apex/f?p=100:1 [P]
    RewriteRule ^/apex/(.*)$ http://123.123.123.123:8095/apex/$1 [P]
    ProxyPass / http:///123.123.123.123:8095/
    ProxyPassReverse / http:///123.123.123.123:8095/
    <Location />
    Order allow,deny
    Allow from all
    </Location>
    </VirtualHost>
Outsiders cannot directly access 123.123.123.123:8095 and http://domain.com is directed to 123.123.123.123:8095/apex/f?p=100:1. Users will see http://domain.com/apex/f?p100:1:andalotmorehere as they browse. However, I realized that I could get to the APEX login with http://domain.com:80/apex or http://domain.com/apex/f?p=4550:1. Is there any way to prevent access to the APEX login to people outside of our local network? I would appreciate any help.
    Thank you,
    Minh

How exactly the APEX engine forces a '404' to be returned, I am not entirely sure. Perhaps it sends back the Response with the Header Status set to 404 ?Yes, with this process on the login page.
    begin
      if not #OWNER#.wwv_flow_security.ip_check then
          #OWNER#.wwv_flow.g_unrecoverable_error := true;
          sys.owa_util.status_line(404, 'Page Not Found');
          sys.owa_util.http_header_close;
      end if;
    end;Scott
