OS X mountain lion operating system

I bought my macbook in september 2012, should it have the OS X mountain lion operating system?

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
It depends. If your Mac was manufactured before July 26th, 2012, it comes with OS X Lion, and if it was manufactured after July 26th, 2012, it comes with OS X Mountain Lion.
Anyway, if your Mac came with OS X Lion, you can upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion for free > http://www.apple.com/osx/uptodate

The apple store is so unhelpful. I have an iMac computer operating on Mac OSX 10.5.8. I want to upgrade to the latest Mountain Lion operating system so I can work with the iCloud on my computer and download my emails. I can't seem to purchase this on-line as it keeps telling me to go to the app store. I haven't got the app store on my computer as I am told I need iCloud for which I need the new operating system, which I can't download or purchase as I am sent back to an instruction telling mee to go to the app store icon.
How difficult can it be to simply purchase the software on-line have it shipped to you so you can install it, in the event it cannot be downloaded as it appears it can't be based on my curent operating systems being Mac OSX 10.5.8.

Whilst Apple have withdrawn Snow Leopard from download, you can still get it from Apple by calling 1-800-MY-APPLE (if you are in the USA) and they will supply the SL DVD for $30.  You can also purchase the code to use to download Lion from the same number.

Does the Mountain Lion operating system run programs in the Microsoft Office for Mac 2004 software suite?

No, Snow Leopard (10.6) is the last version of OS X that supports Office 2004. You can upgrade to Office 2008 or 2011, or use a free office suite such as LibreOffice.

Using mountain lion operating system, downoaded iphoto 9.4 update, aperature 3.4.3 update and still cannot access photo stream.  now what??

With Aperture, you should be able to use Photo Stream now, but you need iPhoto 9.4.2 > http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1608
After updating iPhoto to the latest version, open System Preferences > iCloud and tick Photo Stream. Finally, you will have to turn on Photo Stream on iPhoto and Aperture choosing Photo Stream on the sidebar of both programmes

Was the emergency records file deleted with the Mountain Lion operating system?

It's a Quicken file & I was able to open same.  Not used often & the copy in my documents wouldn't open, but it did in the Quicken app that's friendly with Mountain Lion.  Learned something new today!

First, get rid of the "antivirus update". This will definitely slow down your system and will probably **** it up. Also, you don't need it.
Delete all anti-virus software, and related files, from your system, if possible using the "uninstall" facility that hopefully came as part of your anti-virus package.
Then restart your computer and see if things have improved, which I'm sure they will.

  • Printer compatibility to Mountain Lion operating system

Is my Hp 3000 series J310 wireless printer compatible with my Mountain Lion operating system

    Becky50,
I am sorry, but to get your issue more exposure I would suggest posting it in the commercial forums since this is a commercial printer. You can do this at http://h30499.www3.hp.com/hpeb/ .
    I hope this helps.

  • HT201366 Problem with Mountain Lion operating system

    Hi All, Any advices appreciated.
I recently upgraded the operating system on my Imac to the new Mountain Lion OS. I purchased this via Apple Application store. The installation went fine, but then it started stuffing up my E-mail accounts - and eventually deleted all my historical E-mails. The new OS wouldn't recognise my mail accounts or allow me to send E-mails. I tried all the online tips with regards changing mail preferences and editing ingoing and outcoming server info and passwords and changing ports utilised. I spent endless hours on phone to internet provider, only to be told in the end that it was a Mac OS problem. In utter frustration I did a System Restore and re-installed the old operating system, which also restored the lost E-mail history.
I'm already out of pocket the $20 for Mountain Lion, but can anyone tell how you can safely install Mountain Lion so that it works with E-Mails? Has Apple released a fix for Mountain Lion?

The problems you describe are usually resolved by reindexing the mail database after the upgrade, a procedure that takes a few minutes.

  • HT3669 ML-2510- Need driver for Mac Mountain Lion operating system...fast!

I recently upgraded my iMac to Mountain Lion (OSX version 10.8.3)
I can no longer use my ML-2510 Samsung B & W printer.  Are any drivers going to be available soon?  I love the ML-2510 and would be extremely disappointed if I can no longer use it.  I have an Epson scanner (Perfection 1250) that updated automatically with no problem.
    Thanks
    Wayne

I just now tried this. Based on other now closed/archived thread:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3738840?start=15&tstart=0
The ML-2010 problem has been fixed for me Installing the usbtb usb backend for CUPS.
    The procedure I followed:
Download and install from the gutenprint page http://sourceforge.net/projects/gimp-print/files/ the two packages
    gutenprint-5.2.9.dmg and
    usbtb-1.0.17.uni.dmg.
Install the official Samsung ML-2010 driver.
    http://www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/product/ML-2510[Install Program Execution] ML-2510.zip
Make sure that you connect the printer to the computer.
Double-click the downloaded file on your computer. Samsung SPL2 Installer
    Double-click Install Program icon.
After the installation is finished, click Quit.* For a USB-connected 1. Connect your printer to the computer via USB 2. Open the Applications folder -> Utilities, and Print Setup Utility.
If you can see the printer from printer list, make it default.
    Reset the printing system.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1341?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
Resetting the printing system in OS X Lion
To use the Reset Printing System function in Lion, follow these steps:
Choose System Preferences from the Apple menu.
Choose Print & Scan from the View menu.
Hold down the Option key while clicking the "-" (Remove printer) button. If no printers are currently added, hold down the Control key while clicking in the box that appears above the "+" (Add printer) button, then choose Reset printing system… from the contextual menu.
Add a new printer (+), wait 20-30 seconds and the Samsung ML-2010, Type USB Printer (usbtb) appears in the printers list, next to the usual Samsung ML2010, Type USB.
Select the new one and manually choose the Samsung ML-2010 official driver for it.

  • Since I installed Mountain Lion operating system, I cannot print.  I have a HP Photosmart C7280 All-in-one printer.  I get a message when I try to update the software "Server not available  The software update service is currently not available."

After installing Mountain Lion, my printer doesn't work.  I know it is connected as it shows up,  The message is:
"The printer software was installed incorrectly.  Please reinstall the software for this printer or conact the anufacturer for assistance."
I used the disk that came with the printer as when I go to the HP site, it tells me that Apple has the drivers needed.  I unistalled the printer and reistalled.  Previously, I just went to the HP website an everything worked fine for drivers, program, etc.  I never had to use the CD that came with the printer.  My printer is:  HP Photosmart C7280 All-in-one, it is wireless, but I even took the computer and plugged it into the printer to make sure that everything was connected.  Can someone please help me to get this working,
    Thank you,
    Cheryl Paul

  • Not able to visualize the person I'm calling on Skype anymore, now that upgraded to Mountain Lion operating system. Any suggestions?

Right after I downloaded the new Mountain Lion OS, I was not able to see the person I'm calling on Skype. The person I'm calling has no issue with the video streaming, however. Is this a Mountain Lion issue, a Skype issue or some of each? From looking at the Skype site, it seems alot of other people are having similar problems with using all the functions of Skype since downloading the new OS.

Are you using the most recent version of Skype?
Also, if the person on the far end is using a Mac or an iPad, you may want to consider FaceTime.  The video quality is scads better.

  • Mountain lion operating system

I am totally frustrated.  I purchased a new IMAC on August 21st from the Apple store, and assumed that i had Mountain Lion.  I only realized today, when talking to apple support about a problem that i was having, that i don't have mountain lion - it apparently wasnt loaded on the computer that was sold to me - and that I needed to get the update.  After contacting [email protected]  i was advised that my claim was being denied because my computer was purchased over 30 days ago.  Are they for real?????   How can a company not provide me with an update that the computer was supposed to have when they sold it to me??? do i need to return the computer and demand my money back???? do i need to get a lawyer???? or are there just robot/idiots working at their customer response center?

  • I have a mac  book pro that i bought in late 2009. My current software is snow leopard version 10.5.8. I would like to get the new lion operating system but I cant without first getting the latest version of snow leopard. it doesnt show on software updat

I have a mac book pro that i bought in late 2009. My current software is snow leopard version 10.5.8. I would like to get the new lion operating system but I cant without first getting the latest version of snow leopard. however when I go to update my software it doesnt show that any update is available.

    10.5.8 is Leopard, not Snow Leopard. You need the Snow Leopard DVD;
You can get it only by phone now from Apple.
In the US, call 1-800-MY-APPLE and ask for a sales assistant. Last quoted price was $19.99 for the single-user and $29.99 for the family licence.
For other countries, check here; http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57
Don't forget to ask for Sales; the tech support guys can't help.
If you want Lion, rather than Mountain Lion, the same Sales team can give you a download code to use at the Mac AppStore.
To get the App Store, you need to update your new Snow Leopard from 10.6.3 (which is the version on the installer) to 10.6.8 with the combo update; http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399
Be warned that the upgrades will render a lot of older software unusable, and will need new drivers for printers and scanners in all likelihood.
