OS X Primary language issue

I have come across a very annoying language issue with my MBP.
I needed to set Chinese as the priority language in order to prevent iTunes from changing my chinese song names into weird characters thus ruining my album arrangement. But at the same time, it has created another problem that now every program's default language is Chinese.
Is there anyway to keep my song names intact while keeping the rest of OS X in English?

Is there anyway to keep my song names intact while keeping the rest of OS X in English?
You should be able to have intact song names regardless of your OS language, as long as your ID3 tags are converted to Unicode. See this page for some info:
http://homepage.mac.com/thgewecke/mlingos9.html#itunes
In general, the language of any app can be made different than the OS language by doing File > Get Info > Language on the app icon and making sure that only the language you want is checked.

  • Change primary language in online Windows 8.1

    Hi all,
is there a way to change windows 8.1´s primary language via script?
After deploying o standard en-us image at every site of our company, we add site-specific language packs using lpksetup.exe commandline.
On Windows 7, we were able to change default language (which seems to be called primary language in Windows 8.1) using and xml file as described here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-ie/goglobal/bb964650%28en-us%29.aspx
With Windows 8.1 this doesn´t seem to work anymore - does anybody know another way of doing it?
    Many thanks in advance,
    Andreas

    Hi,
thanks for your answers but that´s not what i was looking for.
My Scenario is to deploy Windows 8.1 in a multinationaly environment. I had planned to have only one english image (no language packs at all) for all clients.
Depending on the clients site, i´d add the needed language packs afterwards via commandline (lpksetup.exe) and set the default UI Language and Inputlanguage for the machine. Adding the languagepacks (using lpksetup.exe or dism.exe) does add the package to
the local store, nut I still need do do these steps manually:
    1. Add the language in the control panel applet to make it visible in the list of available languages (at least windows knows that the files are there)
    2. Make one language the primary one
    3. Choose an input language
    4. Copy those settings for all users
It can´t be the only way to do offline servicing and redeploy the windows image to all distribution points everytime we need a new language for a new site.
Also, it´s not an option to let the user do the work, clicking through control panel applets.
Is there a way, to do Steps 1 to 4 via commandline in a running Windows installation (DISM doesn´t support any online installation)?
    Best regards,
    Andreas

  • S820 came with no Play Store, also has language issue.

I bought an S820 in China and it has 2 problems that I cannot solve.  First, even after switching the laguage to English, much of the interface, apps, settings, etc. are still in Chinese.
Additionaly, this phone did not come with the Google Play Store installed, and I am not able to install it from the Play Store website.  Perhaps I'm doing something wrong due to the language issue, or perhaps there's some kind of license missing since this specific phone was intended for the Chinese market.
I've tried for several days to find a solution but I am coming up short.  I'd like to try a new ROM, but after searching all the various forums I can't seem to find one designed for this phone.
Can anyone please refer me to a ROM that will work for this phone, or otherwise suggest a solution?
    Thank you!

    Hi there,
Though am not an expert, will try to explain and share what I know. I have been updating my s820 to Android 4.2.2 (which is latest for this phone) ROM automatically provided by lenovo officially that means it's not rooted and no Gapps by OTA (over the air) system upgrade. They call this new one VIBE ROM and I find it fantastic!
The other way would be to manually download latest ROM from http://www.viberom.com/xiazai_s820_nk.html (sorry it's in Chinese and you must select appropriate phone, you may translate the website) into your computer, RENAME into update.zip, copy to external microSD card --> boot into recovery (from lenovo's 'system upgrade' icon), there are few yes/no and finally done!
You can also check this out http://www.needrom.com/phone-roms/lenovo/serial-s/s820/ for custom and some rooted ROMs.
    Cheers

  • Language setting of browser and Application Primary Language

    Hi,
my browser is currently set to German, that's why the APEX builder is also displayed in German. Brrr, I like development environments when they are not displayed in English - sometimes you don't understand this translations :-)
But my problem now is that I have created an application and set the Application Primary Language to English (en).
I would now assume that all the text APEX is creating during wizard actions will be created in the Application Primary Language and not in the language the browser is currently set to. But all the text is created in the browser language!!!
I think that's not a good behavior, because if you have a multi user/multi country development, the developers have to change there browser settings so that we get a consistent application. But to archive that I have set the primary language for the application.
    Patrick
    Check out my APEX-blog: http://inside-apex.blogspot.com

    Patrick,
The resulting "defaults" strings which are displayed/used in the wizards should be Estonian, because that's my primary language of the application. Does it really make sense to show them in English/German, ...? Because the result language of the application should be Estonian.A) And how exactly will the Builder obtain the Estonian translation of these strings or of the translation of these strings into any of the hundreds of other languages we know nothing about?
I think the answer is that the Builder should maintain an awareness of the language setting of the application being developed. During the generation of possibly translatable text, the wizards should use a translated message for that text/language if: a) the language is one of the ten languages in which we make the Builder application available, and b) the developer has installed that "language version" of the Builder application (even if they are running a different language version at the time of text generation). If either condition does not hold, then the text should be generated in the Builder's primary language (en-us).
The builder is no genius (or not yet ;-) ), so that's up to the developers when they are changing the primary language during development.B) I don't understand your point (what is up to the developers?). The point I was trying to make was that even if we concede that generated text from the Builder should ideally be in the language that is the current primary language setting of the application being developed, the Builder would not be able to make that accommodation during the execution of the portion of the Create Application wizard that creates pages (with generated text in some language) because this occurs beore the language selection is made. Of course, the answer is that the Create Application wizard should be changed to allow the language to be selected before any text can be generated. Wizards would then be able to generate text in the appropriate language according to the rules proposed in (A).
Why does the builder/wizard not use substitution strings (eg. #APPLY_CHANGES#, #NO_DATA_FOUND#) for this type of default text instead? This would result in "code" in areas of the metadata from which translation strings would be extracted into the XLIFF file. Translators would ignore this code so the ultimate translated application (and the primary) would need a repository in which to hold the desired text for each language to be supported and a method with which to dynamically lookup the translated text at runtime. I don't believe the current architecture supports this (apart from the fact that we don't currently do it this way) and I think the performance implications could be significant, but I could be mistaken on both points.
Wouldn't it help to translate the application too?I don't understand this suggestion.
    Thanks for your input.

  • Setting Primary Language in a multilanguage OSD in Windows 8.1

    Hi!
I use unattended xml file to add the keyboard languages during OSD, here is a snippet of the xml file:
                <InputLocale>0409:00000409;0406:00000406;040b:0000040b;041d:0000041d;0414:00000414</InputLocale>
                <SystemLocale>en-US</SystemLocale>
                <UILanguage>en-US</UILanguage>
                <UILanguageFallback>en-US</UILanguageFallback>
                <UserLocale>en-US</UserLocale>
    (en-US, da-DK, fi-FI, sv-SE, nb-NO)
This is necessary so users can set the desired keyboard for first time log on.
However, when the user has logged on, the order of the languages in control panel, decides witch language is set as "Primary Language" (not to be confused with display language). The top Language is the Primary Language in windows 8 and 8.1
    So my question is:
How can I change the order of the languages with either unattended xml or script (vbscript, powershell, etc), so it can be automated in OSD?

Ok, so I finally figured it out!
I added two Run Command Line's
The "Language Order" package contains two files, RunOnce.cmd and SetLanguageOrder.ps1
    The RunOnce.cmd contains the following:
    reg load HKU\DefaultUser "C:\Users\Default\ntuser.dat"
    REG ADD HKU\DefaultUser\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce /v newUserProfile /t REG_SZ /d "\"C:\Windows\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\Powershell.exe\" -noprofile -file \"C:\Program Files\SetLanguageOrder\SetLanguageOrder.ps1\""
    /f
    reg unload HKU\DefaultUser
    xcopy SetLanguageOrder.ps1 "C:\Program Files\SetLanguageOrder\"
    The SetLanguageOrder.ps1 contains the following:
Set-WinUserLanguageList -Language en-US, nb, sv-SE, da, fi -force
I hope this will help someone else later on!

  • Language issue

So I would like spotify to be all English. I have a computer with the language set to Dutch that I logged into a while back, and as far as I am aware it is logged out and hasn't been logged into since. Ever since then though I have random parts of spotify being in Dutch. All of my language preferences are set to English. All notifications I get on my phone from spotify are also in Dutch (language set to English). Is there a a way to resolve this? The image below is an example.

Try deleting cache and saved data on settings. Log in back and see if the language issue stills there. If not I'd suggest to reinstall the app on your phone.

  • Itunes Connect Primary Language.

Sorry copy and paste another discussion, its archivied.
But pass 3 year and nothing change.
Me, another Brazilians and lots of  Germans, Japanese and all anothers people who dont have english like native language have the same problem.
You set your native language in first time in iTunes Connect and done, in any place where you cant set a especify language your app will show in your native language. Punish Russian or Chinese (or ...)  to see portguese, german or japanese (or ...) description.
What the workarround? Can I make another developer enroll with the same finacial documentation?

    Hi,
i have an german iTunes Connect account. I want germans to the my german app description and all other countries shoud see my english translation. Do i have to enter the english localization for every country ?

    Aug 24, 2008 8:22 AM (in response to Macom2008)
unfortunately not even this helps! I also made german my primary language and it seems - like in canada - they get always the german description for my software alsthough I added the english description to every other localisation avaiable...even canadian french! Well, no luck! There seems to be an error in the system. I mailed this about 10 times to Apple but no answer so far. I'm getting bad reviews there just because Apple shows the wrong text. Well anyway: Enter the english text in every other localisation tab! That will minimize the error! TO ALL OTHER GERMAN DEVs: Don't use german as your primary language!!!
I am a Japanese developer and am facing a huge trouble with iTunes Connect localization.
If your primary language on iTunes Connect is German, you need to enter the English description and screenshots for every localization (UK English, Italian, French, Japanese, ...). But what is problematic is the rest of the world which doesn't has particular localization settings (Australia, Canada, etc).
In these "rest of the world" countries, your primary language is used and we can't change it. In your case, the description and screenshots are displayed in German in these countries. In my case, it is in Japanese and this is a huge problem as Japanese is used ONLY in Japan! Actually, the sales figure of these countries are clearly low and in some countries, I received terrible comment and worst rate as my app is introduced in the language they are not familiar with.
I am asking Apple to solve this problem, but am not sure if they do something.

Thanks for the note Chataka. We have been looking at what languages other than English we should be developing for. I'll be sure to use your 'hard' learning when we make the jump to internationalization.
If you can't get it sorted out, I recommend you hunt down the iphone dev. support phone number and see if you can get guidance directly from Apple.

  • I set up the primary language to English while initializing the MBP, but at the log-in page, the language appears to be a foreign language I don't use, after restart, the language turned into English, has anyone come across the same problem

I set up the primary language to English while initializing the MBP, but at the log-in page, the language appears to be a foreign language I don't use, after restart, the language turned into English, has anyone come across the same problem, and is that normal?

i have a similar problem...It seems to be tied to my guest account. It is set to Japanese as primary language but my main login is set to English. I tried changing the guest account to english but the change won't hold. It always reverts to Japanese.

  • Language issue for selection texts

    Hi All,
There is a auto generated program, for which I am facing a language issue.
When I logon the system in EN language, I can see the the selection text in english language.
However when I logon to system in DE language, it just displays the variable name in the selection screen.
When I click on the selection text, the following info msg is displayed: "Not translated texts from the original language DE be interfered".
What does this message mean? Can I view the selection text in English language when i am logged in DE language.
Since this is an auto generated program, I am not authorised to do the changes.
    Thanks

    Hi Rohit
Ask your basis team to give you authorization for these two authorization objects:
S_QUERY_ALL          Change, maintain and translate query
    S_QUERY_UPD         Change and Translate
If you have these authorizations you can go and change the translation in ABAP Query which is generated by using SQ01 tcode.
If you have the authorization for above mentioned authorization objects the nuse tcode :
SQ07 and you can translate your query.

  • SQL Server reporting (SSRS) with SCCM. Language issue - how to change it?

My SCCM 2012 R2 server is setup on a Windows 2012 R2 server (English) but has non-English language pack installed.
I have the server working great with SCCM 2012 R2 working in English.
The reporting has turned out to be a bit of an issue as it is displaying the paths in the other language.
For example if I browse to http://servername/ReportServer and click to view the available reports the links are all non-English.
Also, if I go to the ConfigMgr console -> Monitoring -> Reports the names appear in English but if I click on any of them to view their properties and go to the security tab I can see the path is not English.
I want to, for the sake of some of the people that will be viewing/using the reports, change it into English.
Is there any relatively painless way to do this?
Changing the language preferences in Internet Explorer does not affect it as these appear to be hard coded.
    Appreciate any advice. Thank you.

Thank you. I had previously seen that page but unfortunately it did not resolve my issue.
It is quite frustrating as I can see the actual folders on my server in English (C:\Program Files\SMS_SRSRP\Reports) yet in the browser the folder names and URLs appear not in English.
Also looking at Reporting Services Configuration Manager it does not show any option to configure this. Arg!

    1.Go to REGEDIT ==>HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE==>SOFTWARE==>ORACLE==>KEY_DEVSUITEHOME

  • Need help with languages issue in iOS app created in Flash Pro CS5.5

    Hello all,
I'm using Flash Pro CS5.5 on a Mac running Snow Leopard to create an iOS app by publishing with 'AIR for iOS' from inside Flash Pro. Everything works great except after I submit my app to the Apple App Store and it is approved, the App Store listing claims that the app is available in a ton of different languages including English, German, Chinese, Italian, Spanish, etc. Since this app is a word game and all the words are in English, this is a pretty significant issue.
If I view the binary details for the app in iTunes Connect, it shows that localizations are active for all of the different languages. This information is read from the .ipa file that is submitted.
If I unzip the .ipa file, I can see that folders have been created for all of the localizations (i.e. en.lproj, es.lproj, fr.lproj, etc.). If I delete any of those folders, the .ipa will give me a 'resources modified' error at install.
I have also tried setting the plist attribute 'CFBundleLocalizations' to 'English' by editing the 'app.xml'. I have verified that the attribute has been changed correctly but it does not solve the issue. All of the localizations are still active.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Can you try workaround given at http://forums.adobe.com/message/3976641 and post back your findings.

  • Spotlight language issues

Apologies if this has already been posted.
After an install of Mac OSX 10.6 on a Macbook Pro (version before the unibody) Spotlight is displaying certain programs like textedit in a foreign language, anyone else have this problem. Or encountered similar issues elsewhere.
And more importantly, does anyone have a solution please?

I am a U.S. user, and was getting Swedish in Spotlight--which I use as an app launcher--for some applications, notably Address Book.
I went to System Preferences/Language & Text to see which languages were checked. When installing 10.6 I had only included a few languages, and while these were ordered below U.S. English, there were a another half-dozen languages above it in the list which I didn't think I had installed, topmost was Swedish. I unchecked this and the other languages (I thought) I hadn't included on the install.
Thereafter, Spotlight showed Japanese instead of Swedish--and it wasn't anywhere on the System Preferences list!
So I unchecked everything but U.S. English ('English' had never been checked) but with no resulting change in Spotlight behavior.
I then went off to repair permissions and dragged out the appropriate pref file, but with no success.
After a couple of days of web searches, I found a hint here:
    http://archicadtalk.graphisoft.com/viewtopic.phpp=153991&sid=dff1eb2496add561d49 2fa83ec7eb42a
I selected both 'English' and 'US English' in System Preferences/Language & Text and my Spotlight is now displaying the previously problematic app names in English.

In our file> XI> R/3 scenario, we found the local language coming in through our sender FTP adapter gets garbled. On further analysis, we found in SMLT that Korean package was not imported.
