OS X realms and internet explorer v6 and v7

Hi,
I have set up and configured a site that uses realms to secure a section of the site. I can use safari and firefox for os x to navigate to this page and get the authentication box to log in to the realm.
However if i use IE 6 or 7 it just comes up with page cannot be displayed. Is it a config issue or a problem with the browser not supporting the realms?
The password is sent in clear text and the page is not under https. I am running the web service on OS X 10.4.11 but this also happens under OS X 10.5.1. Under 10.5.1 the realm is sent encrypted under a https site.

On inspecting the apache error logs, whenever a user tries to access the secured directory through the realm authentication the following error appears.
moddigestapple: Request for URI /download/index.php does not contain Authorization header, referer: https://
This is a base install xp with Sp2 and ie6. No updates installed apart from ie6. I asked someone else who has ie 7 to test the authentication. They had a fully up to date version of ie 7 and logged into the secured directory fine.
Does anyone know if ie has had a problem in the past with apache realms. I have read that it usually sends an unauthenticated request first and then an authenticating header afterwards. Is this the issue i am seeing. If so how can i force ie to ask to authenticate?
Hope you can help.
Thanks.

  • SOS: JSON and internet explorer

hi -- I posted the following a few days ago:
JSON error in internet explorer 8 -- works fine in Firefox
I haven't heard anything back yet from the forum, so thought I'd send out another SOS.
I filed an SR, but this is outside the realm of Oracle Support's expertise.
Anyone had trouble w/ JSON and IE?
    Thanks,
    Carol

See this page.. (Look for area under native json obkject) [http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/archive/2009/03/12/site-compatibility-and-ie8.aspx] it's possible you are getting hit with this issue..

  • Internet Explorer 7 (IE) and Password Sites Don't Work

Presently, I have determined that passworded site created with iWeb '08 (2.0.4) don't work correctly with Internet Explorer 7 (IE). It should be noted the the site is a album page with multiple albums.
The password process fails in that it repeatedly asks for the username and password pair. If you repeatedly provided the information, the site can load, but this does not work always.
On a PC, Internet Explorer 6 (IE) does not have this problem.
On a PC, Firefox and Safari don't have this problem.
On a Mac, Opera (9.23) was this problem, too.

    Thanks for the post.
I have been familiar with general flakiness of passwords or iWeb for the that matter.
The "Publish All" is the best fix for most iWeb problems.
I think the real issue is the design of MobileMe and java scripting associated iWeb and MobileMe. The password method looks like Realm passwords to the browser, but the site is presenting itself as a different Realm for each page/album/file on a site with password requirement.
It trying to make everything work just so, which means one bump in the road can upset everything.
The "Publish All" is a killer for large sites (mine is about 1GB or more). Not working with IE 7.0 is a killer. You can't ask friends and associates to use a different browser.
I think an even bigger problem is the time it take Apple to respond to this kind of issue.

  • Remote Panel and Internet Explorer

Hello. I have a problem with a Remote Panel and Internet Explorer. I create a measurement system in LabVIEW. Its composed of a main front panel and a few subVIs with independent front panels opened from main Front Panel when I press appropriate button. As a local system everything works ok but I try to create a web version of this system. I decide that I can use a Remote Panel. In Web Publishing Tool I was creating a web page for each of Front Panel. I try to have the same functionality as in local system, so when in Front Panel (opened in Internet Explorer window) I press appropriate button I want to open secondary Internet Explorer window with a subVI inside. And now Im stuck because I cant open this secondary window in a network w
orkstation. Has anyone have an idea how can I do it?

I think you have two options. You can open most modal subVI panels
directly on a remote machine. The popup panels won't be in a web page,
but it will work with few changes.
A second approach would be to change the app slightly. The buttons that
launch the subVIs will turn into URL links. The links will open a web
page with a different embedded panel.

  • How to install Adobe PDF toolbar in Internet Explorer after uninstalling IE 10 and installing IE 9

Hello.  I need help installing Adobe PDF convert web page to pdf toolbar to my Internet Explorer 9.  I uninstalled Internet Explorer 11 and 10 because I could not open pdf files in IE 10 or 11 -- trying to open pdf documents froze/locked up Internet Explorer and I had to use Task Manager to exit Internet Explorer every time I tried opening a pdf document.  I have downgraded to IE 9 with the hope that I will have better luck.
I am using Windows 7 operating system.  I have Adobe Acrobat X Pro installed on my computer.
Now that I downgraded to IE 9, I've lost the Adobe convert web page to pdf toolbar.  It is not even in my choice of add ons in Internet Explorer when I go to Manage Add Ons.  How do I get the Adobe toolbar add on back?
I lost my Adobe Acrobat X Pro disk so do not have that to help me in any way.  What can I do?
    Your help is greatly appreciated!

If it is an issue of the AA X disk, you can download from http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/acrobat-downloads.html. Be sure to create a replacement CD in case it is not available in the future. You will still need your S/N for any reinstall. You can usually get that from the Adobe site as long as you registered Acrobat (http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/find-serial-number.html).

  • Why my Firefox is to slow?? Same as GoogleChrome?? Only Internet Explorer is working good! And i want to know Firefox its to slow open web sites! I want to use Firefox but i do no not wht to do is to slow! help me pls!

Srry ill explain very bad myself there! The problem is at the time the Firefox its connecting to a "X" website, it takes to much time get in on the website =/, I got the same problem with GoogleChrome! But if i use Internet Explorer all works perfectly, but I dont want it to use IE, I want Firefox ^^ and I not know wht to do, I cleaned the registry, cleaned the cache and cookies mmmm I ´ve Avira Antivirus on the computer i did a full system scan and everything looks ok also I did a scan with MalwareBytes` Anti-Malware and all its ok again, I not know wht else to do!!! I turned off the avira and firewall of the windows 7 64 bits and didnt work too. Help me what can I do?

Hello cor-el, thanks for your reply. I changed my settings for downloads to desktop and it has appeared on there. When I double click I am asked which program I want to open file. I click firefox and another box "opening install" says I have chosen to open the file which is an application and do I want to save it. This is the only real option so I press save file. I get a box saying this is an executable file which may contain viruses - do you want to run. I press ok and the final box showing C drive file name and desktop appears stating application not found.
This happens the same whenever I try to install.
To my untrained eye the application is not being recognised as an application and I cannot work out how to get it to do that.
My plugin is still showing as out of date.
Is there anything you could suggest. Thanks for your time.

  • How do I stop Firefox from creating untitled web pages when I try to send email from a web page. The only way I have found is to turn the computor off and then reboot. I don't have this problem when using Internet Explorer

Every time I click on a web site that has an email option the browser starts making untitled web pages and never stops unless I turn the computer off. It is very frustrating to not be able to use an email option when offered by a web site. The only way I can send email messages on the Firefox browser is to go into my hotmail acct. and copy and paste the addresses. I don't have this problem when I use the Internet Explorer browser.

How do I access websites that warn: "Firefox is NOT compatible with this application. For best performance, please use Internet Explorer 5.0 and above...."? When I try to download any alternate browser, all I get is another warning that the alternate is "not compatible with your operating system." Is Firefox preventing this? There should be a User Agent Switcher menu item under Tools, which gives you the browser names you can impersonate.
The menu item name changes to the browser UA you are presently using.
There is also a User Agent Switcher button, you can add it using View -> Toolbars -> Customize, and dragging the button to your toolbar.
    See http://chrispederick.com/work/user-agent-switcher/features/ and http://chrispederick.com/work/user-agent-switcher/help/
You can just start trying IE versions (or the versions it says on the site) until it lets you in.

  • Flash and Silverlight don't work at all in Beta 34.0, when Internet Explorer properly works with these; happened immediately with update to Beta 34.0.

    Hello!
Immediately upon updating to Beta 34.0, Silverlight and Flash, completely stopped working in Firefox. I am running Vista Home Premium, Service Pack 2.
They work fine in Internet Explorer.
This happens in any website I go to.
For example, I can go to Youtube, and the page will show a black box where the video should be, but there are no play controls, or any way to enable the video. Clicking within the black box does nothing.
On the music play site, Grooveshark, the site does not recognize Flash as being installed at all. (If you don't have Flash installed, this site pops up a message every time. Grooveshark correctly recognizes that Internet Explorer has Flash installed.)
I updated the Flash plugin to the current version, which also did nothing.
I have not reinstalled Firefox, or done a System Restore, yet.
I just bought a new computer that I was going to migrate to, and retire this computer, so I was not going to do heroic efforts to fix this. I was reporting this more on the order of a bug report.
    Thanks.
    Karl

This happened to me as well with Windows 7 32 bit (which I did as as upgrade from Vista Home Premium - if that might foul things up a bit) and affects Firefox 34.1 and IE. I did a system restore which took me back to Firefox 33 and Flash was fine. Later in the day Firefox updated back to 34.1 and I lost Flash again.

  • The photos on my Picasa web album display as less sharp and detailed than the original photo or as displayed on Internet Explorer. Is there a work around?

Below is a link to one of my photos, if I toggle between this link on Firefox 3.6.9 and Internet Explorer I see a loss of clarity and detail on the Firefox browser. Look especially at the flower stamens to see this. <br />
all the photos in this album have the problem. <br />

  • BT Yahoo mail and Internet Explorer display issues

There seems to be a problem with using a version of Internet Explorer whilst looged into BY Yahoo Mail:
    Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 - IE 8.0.7601.17514 - Display is OK
XP Professional Version 2002 SP3 - IE 8.0.6001.18702CO - See attached for what it looks like, It has a similar appearnce to what it might look like in text mode. IMPORTANT - This worked fine up until around 27th June 2012, then the problem started. If you click on the Mail icon, to get your Inbox, again, it renders better, but doesn't work - I just get the waiting icon (circle)
Yes, the operating system platforms are different (XP is still supported by MS), and yes the IE version are only _slightly_ different, but this worked up until a week ago, so must assume that some change to the operating system might have caused this, e.g. an update.
    Anyone else seen this?
Are BT aware of this, and if not what can they do about it.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    David

  • SharePoint 2013 - document libraries and newsfeeds are visible when viewed using Internet Explorer running on the server but not from any other machine

On a single Windows 2012 R2 server I have installed SQL 2012 and SharePoint 2013 SP1 with the latest update roll ups. When I remote desktop to the server using the farm and site collection admin account  and open page http://server_name_here using
Internet Explorer, I'm able to see newsfeeds and document libraries.
If I connected to a separate Windows 7 machine as  the farm and site collection admin account  and open page http://server_name_here using Internet Explorer, I'm able to view the SharePoint pages except I cannot see any newsfeeds or document libraries.
There's just blank space where they should be. I have repeated this process on several other machines that are not the server and get the same result on every machine (I've tried other servers, desktops, adding the SharePoint site to the trusted sites list
in IE, even using firefox). I'm using the same account as I did when I logged onto the server directly. Any thoughts as to what's going on?
    Thanks!

Thanks for the idea, Harsh. What am I looking for?
It is currently set to the default of http://server_name and http://server_name:port_number (the latter is for Central Admin).
When I have access to the server, I have always done so the same way, using http://server_name. This was true when I access it from the desktop of the server itself and when I tried to access it from other desktops and servers (the machines where I had the
issues with the libraries and feeds not showing up). Are there other values I should add?
I have not tried to add http://server_FQDN as we don't plan on using that to access it but if you think it will help I would be happy to add it.

  • Since upgrading to Firefox 5, I can no longer browse for attachments in AOL Webmail, and every time I open Firefox, it asks me if Mozilla can make changes to my hard drive. I've gone back to Internet Explorer.

I upgraded to the latest version of Mozilla Firefox and ever since then, every time I open Firefox it asks me if I want to allow Mozilla to make changes to my hard drive. I have to answer "Yes" or else it won't open Firefox. Then when I open my AOL Webmail and try to browse for an attachment, it freezes up the browser window and I have to open the Task Manager to close Firefox. I have now gone back to Internet Explorer which does not have either one of these problems.

Maybe just corrupted Disk Utility preferences ...
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following:
    ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.DiskUtility.plist
Click Go then move the com.apple.DiskUtility.plist file to the Trash.
Restart your Mac then try creating a .dmg file.

You need to ask Apple for assistance with getting back into your old ID. To do this, click here and pick a method; if that page doesn't list one for your country or you're unable to resolve this issue through the Account Security team, fill out and submit this form.
