OS X Server 3.1 Messages error

Question

I recently changed the name of my server in the Sharing System Preferences to simplify the name after the server had been already set up. This was to hopefully make the Messages service easier to set up. Unfortunately, I had set up a few computers using the more complex name. When I changed the name of the server and then tried updating the client's Messages login, I started getting an error. I noticed that the Messages service would not stay on. Going into the logs, I noticed that the service seems to be still looking for the original server name.
I made the name change both in the System Preferences and in the Server application. Everything else seems to be working as it should. Is there a preference I need to trash? Will this all be solved if I change the name back to the more complex one?
Any ideas or advice will be greatly appreciated!

This is very likely a side-effect of the issue in Profile Manager being discussed in https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5471963?start=60&tstart=0. As mentioned there, you should try these commands to stop that problem and I suspect your profiles will then get pushed.
sudo psql -U _devicemgr -d devicemgr_v2m0 -h /Library/Server/ProfileManager/Config/var/PostgreSQL -c "UPDATE devices SET last_update_info_time = dm_current_timestamp() + '1 month'" 
sudo psql -U _devicemgr -d devicemgr_v2m0 -h /Library/Server/ProfileManager/Config/var/PostgreSQL -c "ALTER TABLE devices ALTER COLUMN last_update_info_time SET DEFAULT dm_current_timestamp() + '1  month'"
