"OS X" update name in Software Update

From time to time, in Software Update, I will see "OS X" listed as installed and the date. What is getting installed? I don't think it is Xprotect. Is it the messages that tell you a plug in is out of date?
In the Install plst, I see this:

Thanks, Kappy, but I'm not doing a very good job on communicating. This generic OSX update thing happens once in awhile. I'm not going in an running software update, nor do I have anything set to do so in the background. The info at the top is from the receipts plist file. I have nothing in the receipts folder you mentioned. Sadly, SL hasn't received any OS updated since 10.6.8 other than printer and iTunes. I thought it might be something pushed from Apple displaying via Mac App store to update to yosemite or mavricks. It's a mystery. I don't suspect anything bad, just trying to figure out what this reprents.

How to change name of software component version in IR and ID?

Hi All,
I have a scenario in which 50 interfaces are there.All interfaces are working fine and we are in Testing stage.
I need to change name of Software component which I have used in IR.
I tried with release transport. I am able to pass all my mapping programs and everything under new software component name. But in ID all configuration objects contain IR objects (Like interface mapping) with old software component name.
Do I need to change everything in ID manually or is there any other way for this?

If you check this blog , you are able to transfer data even without IR content, i.e, there is no message interface , no namespace in IR and stil this works. Reason, there is no validation if the message interafce exists in the IR. In the runtime the SOAP Header is filled with the interfacename and namespace and it uses these values.

Likewise, irrespective of which SWCV the interface name and namespace is, things will work fine as long as they exists in the IR in your case.
The SWCV is a means to group objects, it might be displayed while doing the manual configuration but it doesnt matter even if you just key in the values without using the help.
Things will work fine.

No, you cannot list the files from the res folder. You could just put a textfile with all the image names in the res folder, and read the images file names from there..

Changing personal name on software for editing?

Hello,
I am having problems with changing the license name of the software. I am using my sons old computer - when editing proofs his name is appearing even though I have changed it to mine in the preferences.
I have also changed the PC name through the control panel with no luck.
I am using the trial version currently, but planning to purchase after its up - Any help with this would be great.
Edit: Under identity in preferences the login name is greyed out with sons name which I can't edit...

Get rid of the "*app name* is software downloaded from the internet" popup

Hey so I downloaded Chrome and Firefox, and whenever I open them it says "Chrome (or) Firefox is software downloaded from the internet on *date here*. Are you sure you want to open it?"
Theres no checkbox to say "Do not ask me again", so is there a way to get it to NOT ask me again?

If you have multiple user accounts on your Mac, the user account that downloaded the file is the only user account that can remove the quarantine attribute to the file. All other user accounts can open the quarantine file, but they will be presented with the quarantine dialog box asking "Are you sure you want to open it?" every time they open the file.

PSE 13 is the most unstable name brand software I've ever tried to install.

I've tried everything. It keeps crashing. Has anyone got this to work?

Dots in Software Update Groups names

Hello,
Do you know any reason why is it impossible to put a dot (".") in a name of Software Update Group? I can use dots in SUG's name created via ADR but not when I create one manually, I receive an error: "Must specify a valid name for the software
update group".
How can I put dots in a names for manually created SUGs?

While you might be able to create it with an ADR or with PowerShell, if the User Interface specifically prevents it from being created, its a strong bet that it isn't tested and supported by the product team.
You're best bet is to put in feedback on Microsoft Connect asking them to allow and support it.

Can't software update, networking error, yet internet connection fine

I am trying to use software update, but can't. I get this:
"A networking error has occured: timed out (-1001). Make sure you can connect to the internet, then try again. Software Update can't check for updates because of a network problem."
Yet network diagnostics show everything fine; mail works fine; network utility shows everything ok; wireless connection fine; TCP/IP looks normal; and browsers are fine -- here i am posting.
WTH?!
I know there are other threads about this, but the questions there are unanswered, even though the threads are marked answered.
I tried the following:
1. i backed up using Carbon Copy Cloner, then wiped my HD and copied back. That was ok, but still couldn't use software update.
2. i archived/installed 10.4, restarted.Some prefs gone but basically ok, couldn't use software update.
3. downloaded last combo update 10.4.7, and last security update. Quit everything, repaired perms, installed combo update, restarted. Installed security update, restarted.
4. i reset PRAM.
5. i checked the disk using Disk Utility. It's fine.
6. I made a new user account to test. Logged in there, tried software update, same result.
And i still can't use software update.
Someone in another thread wrote that this seems to be in UK and Netherlands. Possible?
Any suggestions anybody?

This last i am not sure of the exact name, i saw it before, deleted it, but it hasn't been regenerated.
there is also:
[home]/Library/Caches/Software Update/
which has nothing in it;
and
[home]/Library/Preferences/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate/
which has a lot of numbered folders and cache files with names like
'1321878279-2428557571.cache'
Should i try deleting those?
How do i find out the server name for Software Update btw?
Perhaps i should try plugging that into the SoftwareUpdate.plist?

IPhone 3G update to 3.0 with repeated 1013 errors - now bricked iPhone! ;-(

Attempting to update an iPhone 3G to 3.0 from 2.2.1 and it's now a brick.
Note that I've tried this now from THREE different computers, two macs and one windows box with identical results. I've uninstalled iTunes on the windows box before doing the update attempt.
The error message is "1013" which also takes you to this highly uninformative page: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1275.
Ok, the USB cables and ports on three computers see the same problem error. So it's either the iPhone itself or iTunes 8.2 (23) or both.
Digging a bit deeper I found that there is a log file kept on the mac. Change to this directory from your home directory "~/Library/Logs/iPhone Updater Logs/" where you'll find one "iPhoneUpdater N.log" file for each attempt to update that you've done.
When the error occurs Apple asks if I want to send the info to them! YES!!! Make sure you do so that they can sort this out.
Ok, looking in this log file (I won't dump it all here) you can see a number of errors. The end of the log file shows:

Clearly there are some problems. Earlier in the log file it had problems updating a number of files.
Now I've tried this "Connect your iPhone to the computer. press and hold sleep and home, and as soon screen goes blank, count off 5 seconds, then let go of sleep and keep holding home." That didn't change anything. sigh.
It's almost as if this particular version of the iPhone that I have is incompatible with the current iPhone 3.0 operating system components. Maybe there is a bad driver? Hmmm....
Ok, here is another error in the log file.

So clearly the file "/usr/local/standalone/firmware/ICE2_04.26.08.fls" isn't transferred properly! Something is amiss somewhere...
Could it really be that it can't download the update file to the iPhone due to USB problems? Surely Apple has access to fault tolerant file transfer protocols they can use?
Sigh... now I'm without my primary phone... grrrr... arrrrg... should have waited....
Apple maybe you could learn something about "ACID TRANSACTIONS" and include them into the update process to guarantee either 100% success or 100% abort rollback?
I don't know if this is relevant but now in iTunes on the iPhone page it no longer shows any values at all for the "name, capacity, software version or serial number" fields which is kind of spooky. Does this mean that I need to take the phone in for service? Is it permanently toast?

Just visitied the Apple Store in Vancouver and wasn't allowed in! They had a wall of orange shirts AND two mall SECURITY guards preventing people from entering UNLESS you were there to purchase a new iPhone 3GS!
The orange shirt gave me grief refusing to allow me to see a service person! So I asked to speak to his manager. Matt showed up and read me the same riot act of BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! They claimed it was the first day since they opened that they closed their Genius Bar!
The fact remains that it was APPLE's Update that bricked my iPhone that I depend upon.
So the manager went off to get his boss when I asked him too. I think he was just glad to get away from a rational insistent customer spoiling their wonderful happy Apple day selling new phones.
So a non-technician showed up and offered to take my phone into the store and try to update it. She lied. She returned to tell me that my warranty was expired due to the "water litmus" paper being RED. ***? You've got to be kidding! I've NEVER had it anywhere near water! The lie was that she didn't actually try to connect it and that she was going to secretly find out if my warranty was void. Not what I call informed consent.
So I asked her to check and try updating the phone anyway and off she trundled. Less than no time she returned telling me that my iPhone couldn't be seen by three of their computers! ***! It was working on my three computers at home!
In fact as I type this it's running another update this moment. About 3/4 done.
So now Apple's Update Bricked my iPhone which was working perfectly without any problems. If they hadn't brought their update out the phone would still be working just great!
Needless to say I'm extremely annoyed yet composed (for the moment).
So my options at this point seem to be to (1) replace the phone for ~260.00 CAD or (2) upgrade to a 3GS for an indeterminate amount if FIDO permits it, or (3) hope that Apple home base gets their act together with a new iTunes update which can at least get the phone working again, (4) toss the phone off a bridge, (5) sue Apple and FIDO for their negligence in providing faulty software updates that bricked the phone. Grrr... Arrrggg....
Oh, it just failed the update again! At least it can be seen by my computers (two mac and one vista box).
Ok, now what...
CHECK YOUR iPhone warranty voided strips to see if they are RED/PINK! If it's only iPhones with RED that are the problem then maybe that's the cause. HOWEVER, if even ONE iPhone has this problem and it's not got a RED water strip then it's conclusive that the problem is elsewhere - basic diagnostic process and rock solid logic. Please check your RED WARRANTY VOIDED STRIPS and let me know here... you check them with a flash light at the bottom of your iPhone in the slot where the SIMM card is and where the dock/cable connector goes in. Shin the light into there and move the phone or the light about till you see either a 1/4 inch long strip - RED/PINK means you Apple won't honor your warranty or their craftsmanship.
Ok... now to find out how much it will cost to upgrade to a 3GS on the FIDO plan. Sigh. Grrr... arrrggggg....

Help updating Adobe ?

I tried to update Adobe, but it asked about Mac ? & I don't want MacAffee Security or have a Mac computer, so is that what it meant ? I wasn't sure what to do ? So when the Steps came up it wouldn't work ? What do I do ? You can tell, I don't know the computer very much.

Don't know that I would call it a problem as such.
Mine was blank after the update. The phone had to be reauthorized / authenticated via iTunes Music Store. When I restarted iTunes the missing number showed up again.

Payload Update

In worklist API I have found method:
worklistservice.updatePayload(IWorklistContext, IWorklistTask, Map)
I have IWorklistContext and IWorklistTask, but I don't know how Map should look like.
My payload is:

To answer your questions
No you cannot set the payload path.
In order to get the payload from the new path. You might be knowing the business logic where the actual node will be moved. Based on that construct new path and use resourceresolver for resolving.

Has anything been found out about this? We're running into the same issue except that it's logging every 30 seconds.
Here's some info from the machines and when it's occurring:
It only occurs when someone is connected to the machine through Remote Desktop.
The machines are Amazon EC2 instances.
Seems to only happen on machines that are connecting to RODC's.
Machines have limited connection to RODC's through security groups (machine based firewalls).
They are Windows Server 2012 instances, small and medium instance types. (See instance type details here: http://aws.amazon.com/ec2/instance-types/instance-details/)
Little or no extra software installed. These were spun up from a basic WS2012 image and it started occurring shortly after. There are other machines launched from the same image that do not have this issue.
There are also some other machines connecting to the same RODC's with the same security group (firewall) settings that are not experiencing this issue.
We are just using the standard Remote Desktop, not the 2012 Remote Desktop Services. We have tried to install this but the install always fails. Automating Software Deployment using SCCM Powershell cmdlets

Hello,
I am trying to automate our Software Update deployment procedure. However I am having problems trying to download software updates associated to a Software Update Group using Start-CMSoftwareDeployment cmdlet.
In this instance, I have a Software Update Group with one update KB2817369. When I use Start-CMSoftwareDeployment cmdlet, I get the error message "Warning: The object <Name of Software Update> cannot be downloaded".
Any ideas how I can automate the download of the security updates associated to a Software Update Group ?

Hello Prabha,
I had a look at Automatic deployment rules but I do not think this would work in our environment because I just want to be able to download the software updates for a specific Software Update Group and at a later date create the corresponding Deployment
Package.
The process I am trying to automate is:-
1) Create Software Update Group with appropriate software updates
2) After removing any redundant software updates from the Software Update Group, download the software updates
3) Create a Software Update Deployment package and deploy to collections.

I have an iPhone 4S , my sister just got me it from USA and i live in Lebanon ... and the person who gave it to my sister forgot the pass-code for the phone and i can't open it ... since i can open it with a new software for the iphone but i cant ... cause i have a turbo sim installed to it and a man who works with phones and stuff told me that there are no turbo sims for the newest software for the iphone ... what can i do here ? any help please ???
