OS X v10.6.2 update problems

I am currently using version 10.6.2 but when I run system update I get a list of updates needed, I will proceed the update process untill my computer restarts.
My issue is that im finding the mac will still be on the same version and has not updated. I have tried this a number of times and not had any successes. I then went on to download v10.6.8 as had been recommended by apple, when instantly into the installation process this will stop with installation failed. I have no clue as to why? I was going to try reboot my OS to v10.6.1 with the Disc which came with the mac, but my disc drive is now not reading most discs im unsure if this is something to do with the update issue also.
My main concern is to update my OS this not updating is meaning that I cannot update itunes and through that cannot connect my phone to itunes, iphoto etc to clear up some memory, I would also like to be able to update to v10.8 but cannot without the update including app store.
I am on a late 2009 27"iMac and if any one has any help I would much appreciate it. Not the most technical person although I will usually try resolve a problem by searching the net.

How large is your hard drive and how much hard drive space do you have left?
Disconnect all peripherals from your computer.
Boot from your install disc & run Repair Disk from the utility menu. To use the Install Mac OS X disc, insert the disc, and restart your computer while holding down the C key as it starts up.
Select your language.
Once on the desktop, select Utility in the menu bar.
Select Disk Utility.
Select the disk or volume in the list of disks and volumes, and then click First Aid.
Click Repair Disk.
Restart your computer when done.
Repair permissions after you reach the desktop-http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2963 and restart your computer.
Download the  Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo.  After the installation, again repair permissions and restart your computer.

I updated my mavericks today and now my Phocus Software (for my Hasselblad camera) crashes all the time. The software is very important for me and my work. Anyone who can help? Is it possible to 'regret' the update and go back?
I really appreciate if anyone can help me, Thanks

You could restore from the backup you made before the update. I would also contact the Phocus folks for help/guidance/workaround.

  • OS X Mavericks v10.9.4 Update still does not fix the wifi shut off in sleep mode problem

OS X Mavericks v10.9.4 Update was supposed to fix the wifi connectivity problem with my iMac. Wifi disconnects in sleep mode and does not connect when awakened.  Must reconnect manually every time. PITA.

Your observation is correct about wifi disconnection in sleep mode. That is normal, you may want to check to see if your Mac supports Power Nap/is enabled- OS X: About Power Nap
The reconnect should be automatic within a few seconds.
Does it happen with multiple wifi networks or just one?
Have you tried deleting and re-adding the wifi network?

OS X Yosemite v10.10.3 Update - I had problems with my iMac after installing the previous update and I removed that update.  Have there been problems associated with this update ?

I've been using it on all of my computer without any problems. Remember you won't see any positive comments here. Everyone here is complaining about a problem. If you want a good experience with any upgrade or update first make a backup from which you can boot the computer. If you are installing an update, like 10.10.3 for example, always download and install the Combo Updater - OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 Combo Update. Before you install any update or upgrade over an existing system you should do this:Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions:
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility and press the Continue button. After Disk Utility loads select the Macintosh HD entry from the the left side list.  Click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If Disk Utility reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit Disk Utility and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.

  • Is OS X Mavericks v10.9.5 Update fixed?

Has the OS X Mavericks v10.9.5 Update been fixed yet or should I continue to wait for upgrade? Where will Apple announce when the upgrade is fixed and ready to install without all the problems I am hearing about?

There is nothing new for 10.9.5. It did not require fixing. With Yosemite only weeks away from release there will likely be no more updates for Mavericks.
If you have some sort of problem, then if you tell us what it is perhaps it can be fixed. You do not want to update your system unless it is pristine and free from any issues. But if you don't wish to update to 10.9.5, then you can wait to upgrade to Yosemite. It won't fix any problems that you think you now have.

  • Has anyone else noticed that: "The OS X Lion v10.7.3 Update includes Safari 5.1.3 and fixes that: Resolve a Wi-Fi connection issue when waking from sleep" didn't work?

I installed OS X Lion v10.7.3 because of the following claim.
The OS X Lion v10.7.3 Update includes Safari 5.1.3 and fixes that:
Resolve a Wi-Fi connection issue when waking from sleep
It continues to be a real pain having to reconnect to the network each time I wake my MacBook Air from sleep.
Does anyone have a suggestion for the resolution to this problem?

It seems the update fixed old problems for some and caused new problems for others. Sorry to hear you're in the latter group.
Here are some things to try.
    1. Go to System Preferences > Network, and click the gear icon under the network interfaces like so:
Whatever service order you have set, drag Wi-Fi either to the top (assuming it's not already there) or someplace else in the list. Click OK and then Apply. Sleep the system then wake it again to observe any changes.
    2. Click Wi-Fi in the above then click Advanced. Select all the networks your computer has ever joined and delete them with the "-" button. OK then Apply again. Select your network under the AirPort icon to re-join it. Sleep and wake again to see if that did anything.
    3. Try creating a new, temporary user account. Log in under that account to see if its behavior is any different.
You may have done all of these already but perhaps there is something you have not thought of. If nothing helps we may just have to wait a bit longer for Apple to release a fix.

  • Can i use 'iGetter' (a third party download accelerator) to download Mac OS X v10.7.4 update?

can i use 'iGetter' (a third party download accelerator) to download Mac OS X v10.7.4 update? im running 10.7.2

Third party download manangers usually end up causing problems when downloading apps from the App Store.
Try installing the OS X Lion Update 10.7.4 (Client Combo)
That will update your Mac to v10.7.4 but be aware that file size is 1.4 GB.
Bear in mind, if at some point you need to reformat or repair the startup disk or reinstall the Mac OSX, you would need to use Lion Recovery which requires broadband access to the Internet via Wi-Fi or an Ethernet connection

  • IPhoto 9.5.1 crashes since OS X v10.7 Lion Update... HELP!!!

iPhoto 9.5.1 crashes since OS X v10.7 Lion Update... HELP!!!
    So here's my story...
Last week I upgraded from Snow Leopard to Lion, like every MAC enthusiast. After my successful install I check the system for any Software Updates, results iPhoto 9.5.1. I downloaded in installed it. Since then, everytime I try to open iPhoto it crashes. Everything else seems to me working fine.
I've tried everything I could think of as well as many of the suggestions found on the Support Fourm. Still to no avail
I'm posting this message in hopes that someone has had the same issue and can guide me through how to fix it. I'm technically savvy and hate it when the computer wins!!!
Thank you very much in advance.

Long story short... Installed, Reinstalled and Uninstalled iPhoto. Everything from versions 8.0 to 9.5.1.
None work... v8.0+ says need a newer version, v 9.5.1 just crashes at startup.
And obviously all the basics of booting, rebooting and all that good stuff. At the moment, the app is back at its initial state were the problem began 9.5.1.
Don't know if this helps, but here is the report that pops up when it crashes:

  • OS X Mavericks v10.9.3 update monitor philips

The OS X Mavericks v10.9.3-update created a problem. The Philips Displayport Monitor 272C4Q doesn't show any image anymore. What left is a black screen. My iMac and MacBook Pro has the same problem. The computer sees the monitor, act like normal, but there is no image.
I haven't updated my MacBook Air: this one is still working properly. Help ...

    Hi PierkePitt,
Sorry to see this, strange question, as the monitor still works on a Mac which hasn't updated to 10.9.3 there could be a problem with that particular OS update and the driver used for the monitor. You mention that it shows up under Displays in System Preferences, are you able to Click on the Arrange tab and click the Gather all windows button to bring over the display settings for the Phillips Monitor and see if it recognises the model and type of monitor?
I'd also try changing the resolution on that display temporarily to Scaled and see if a lower resolution does anything?

  • Update problem - VBDATA table

    Dear All,
We have update problems in our Quality systems, and also in every R/3 system that we create from a Production system copy.
Sometime the UPD and UP2 work processes hung without apparent reason.
In the SM50 I can see one or more of my update processes running for a lot of time (many hours) on the table VBDATA without perform any action.
In the tcode SM12 I donu2019t see any kind of lock, and I donu2019t understand why only sometime this problem happens.
Of course, from the SM13 I can see that during this problem the system is not able to perform any kind of update.
As I told in the beginning of the message, I have the same problem in other two R/3 systems, both created with a system copy from the production system.
The Production and the Developer systems seem not affected by this problem.
Have you got any idea about the reason of the problem?
Even if the Production systems is not directly affected, all the IT department is not able to work on the Quality system (or any other Test system), and the only workaround is to kill the UPD (or UP2) WPs affected.
    Thanks in advance,
    Federico Biavati
    My R/3 System is a 4.7 on SLES9 and Oracle 10.2.0.2

    Hello Siva,
    This is what I did:
    > Check how many entries do you have in VBDATA currently.
More than 1.000 in every SAP systems that Iu2019m creating from Production
    > You might want to run the reorganize updates program to clear the old updates
    > that are pending/in error
    Good point!!
After the reorganization (ST14 u2013 Reorganize update requests) the table VBDATA is empty.
Iu2019ll check and Iu2019ll let you know if the problem is definitively solved.
    Thanks for you help,
    Federico

  • Chart x scale update problem

    LabVIEW  8.5.1
    Sweep Chart Problem
The x scale values do not update until after the 2nd sweep.  The red line cursor gets to the end of the sweep and starts the next, but the scale numbers do not update until the next sweep starts.
It appears to be a problem with the chart, since it happens with any vi with a sweep chart.  I've used versions 6 through 7 for years and never seen this.  I've only recently moved to a new job with a new machine and version 8.5.1., so I'm not sure what to try.
    I've included a simple example.
    Thanks much,

You have a typical race condition!
There is no data dependency between the property node and the while loop, so in your case the loop starts executing first and the property node starts slightly later, immediately erasing the first point. Execution order is not defined.
All you need to do is add a data dependency, e.g. as with the error cluster in the image. This forces the property node to complete before the loop is allowed to start.
(Execution order is enforced even if the wire value is not even used inside the loop )
    Try it!

  • 10.5.7 update problems

After installing the 10.5.7 update, Mail, iTunes and iPhoto will not run anymore. Anyone else having this problem?

    jjtopspin wrote:
Before I came to these apple discussions re: update problems with 10.5.7, I tried to update this version yesterday and at the end of the download this message came up, the update "Mac OS X update" can't be saved. The digital signature for this package is incorrect. The package may have been tampered with or corrupted since being signed to Apple.
I got the same message. The downloaded file that generated the message was only about 560 KB, indicating it was an incomplete download. I moved it to the trash & tried again. The second download attempt succeeded. I had a minor if nerve-wracking issue with the update (the blue looping screen reported in another topic in this forum) but after a forced shutdown & restart the update was completed successfully.
I have since updated my two other Macs so all those listed in my profile are now running 10.5.7. All do so without any problems & in fact work better & more stably than ever before.
I doubt that I'm unusual in this respect. Some users will have problems but I believe most won't, & for those that do most problems will turn out to be caused by something other than the update itself. So it has been for every previous Leopard update; I see no reason to think this one will be any different.

  • Cache update problem in Integration Directory

    Hi all,
We have a cache update problem in our PI development server.
If we try to edit, save and activate any of the ID objects, under Cache notifications>Central Adapter Engine> all these objects are displayed as gray items.
    We have tried:
    1. Clearing the SLD Data Cache.
    2. Did SXI_CACHE complete refresh.
    3. Did CPA cache refresh.
    4. Did a complete cache refresh of the server.
    5. Restarted the server.
But still the problem has not bee resolved. Could you pls provide your inputs and resolution points.
    Thank you very much.
    regards,
    Jack Nuson

    HI Jack ,
first try to manually update the cache from ID select on your cache notifiaction and click on delta cache refresh button and refresh button .IF it does not yied any result then
Perform a full cache refresh using the URL
http://<host>:<port>/CPACache/refresh?mode=full . If the cache refresh happens properly then your problem will get resolved other wise you have to see the cache log to view why it failed there it will show you the exact reason . You might need to restart your java server also if the problem persist .
    Regards,
    Saurabh
