OS X won't recognise printer - any help??

Hi guys,
I have a Canon ImageClass MF3240, which I've had for a little while and have recently purchased a new MacBook. I know that this printer is not supported by Canon for OS X, but maybe someone has a way around it???
I have loaded Vista under Boot Camp and downloaded the Vista drivers off Canon's website and got it to work with no issues. Is there anyway of getting it to work under OS X or am I just stuck printing under Windows for now?

I see those are old posts above but I'm just now having the same problems. I have the original software CD that came with my Photosmart D5160 printer but I can't load it. I get the message "You can't open the application "HP Installer" because PowerPC applications are no longer supported". So I don't have that going for me, which is not nice! But I couldn't really care less about that if I can just find a CD labeler software that will print from my Mac to the D5160. I'd rather by new CD labeler software than a new printer. I've tried a few free CD labeler software downloads, including iWinSoft Label Maker, but nothing has worked so far. I think there's an answer somewhere; I'm able to print documents on regular paper using this printer, but I only bought it (many years ago) to print CD labels and some pictures. It's been used only sparingly and it's been in storage since I bought my Mac 3 years ago, mainly because a I got a free printer with my purchase. Any help is vertainly appreciated!!!

Yosemite won't recognise CanonMG7150 - please help!

Had a problem with my internet connection, restored it, and now suddenly I can't print. I am running 10.10.3. I removed the printer from the list, and tried to add it as new, including reinstalling the drivers downloaded from Canon. The printer says it is connected, but does not appear in the 'add printer' list. The Library printer folder is empty. I am now at a complete loss and have some papers to print for a meeting tomorrow. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

If the MG is not appearing in the Add Printer list then you may have an issue with Bonjour, which is a protocol used on the Mac to discover network devices. A workaround is to add the printer by entering its IP address. To do this you will have to learn what IPv4 address the MG is using. This can be done via the control panel of the MG - Setup > Device Settings > LAN Settings > Wireless LAN Setup > WLAN Settings List
Once you know the IPv4 address you can select to add the printer via Printers & Scanners, but with the Default view displayed select the IP icon. Then enter the IPv4 address, set the Protocol to Line Printer Deamon and enter a Queue name of LP. Change the Name from the IPv4 address to Canon MG7150 WiFi and browse for the MG7100 series driver in the Use menu. Click Add to complete the printer creation and see if this will print.
Note that since you added the printer when it was connected via USB cable you will have to printers. That is why I suggested you add the word WiFi to the network printers name, so you know which printer to use when you need to print.

From the Control Panel, open Administrative Tools and select Sevices. Browse down to the print spooler service, right click it and select Properties then click on the Stop button. Now browse to C:\Windows\System32\Spool\PRINTERS and delete the job inside this folder - You may need to click a prompt to gain the appropriate authority to open the PRINTERS folder.
Restart the computer and you should find the document(s) have been removed.

I will pass every step but the keyboard won't type to finish pairing! I've disconnected my other keyboard, and it still wouldn't work.

Don't just disconnect the other keyboard(s). Also remove their batts.
And make sure there isn't any still asleep in near-by cup-boards.

If your default packet size is set incorrectly it can cause this error. Contact the manufacturer of the software that installed the packet size modification for assistance.
6. Connect your computer directly to your Internet source, bypassing any routers, hubs, or switches. You may need to restart your computer and modem to get online.
7. Try to restore from another known-good computer and network.

My external hard drive won't restore? Any help?

Hi I have a Iomega Ego external Hard Drive 500gb. I've been on Disk Utility and followed the verify disk and it told me to go to the repair disk. Once I did this I was told to restore the disk. I've gotten this far and placed the correct source and desination but I keep getting this message - Unable to scan "My Drive" (resoucre busy)
Any suggestions are welcome

Bummer! But when I looked this drive up, it seems like it's a current model, so I'm assuming it's fairly new?
Unfortunately, I'm not really an expert on external drives, but I'm thinking that if the drive is relatively new, and still spins up, then it should eventually be possible to access it again. Maybe if you could clarify the circumstances of the crash a bit, it will be possible to get this sorted out. I'm not entirely clear on just what happened.
First, could you describe the crash--what exactly did the drive do? Was a cable bumped or anything like that? Or did something happen just out of the blue? And does the drive still spin up?
I am assuming that you checked the obvious things like making sure the USB port was working and the cable itself was OK. I gather that Disk Utility can see the drive, but all the options are grayed out so it can't do anything? Is your PC a different computer, not just Windows on your MBP? I gather that the PC can also see the WD drive, but can't mount it? I know nothing of PC's so I don't know any PC troubleshooting.
One thing that might be worth trying is calling Western Digital and talking to their tech support people. I believe that WD has a 3 year warranty on their drives, and I expect they would be most familiar with the drive and what the problem with it might be. For example, it might be that some component in the enclosure went south and is keeping the drive from mounting. It could be that the failure of some component in the enclosure is what caused the original crash. It might even be worth trying the drive in a different enclosure.

I have purchased mountain lion 3 days ago but I can not download since then. I see the icon saying "waiting" but there is not any progress.

Stop the indicated "waiting" dialog. Logout of the App Store.
Reboot.
Sign back into the App Store and with the option key depressed, choose purchases. The Mountain Lion purchase should have an "install" button indicated. Try again.

I charged my phone early in the afternoon and fell asleep to my phone being 100% on battery, I unplugged it and just sent 1 text and after about 2-3 hours later, my phone was warm and it wouldn't turn on. It may not be that your iPhone died, it probably just powered off for no apparent reason or explanation. If you're really concerned about this, I would use this article http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414 to restore your iPhone and restore form an iCloud backup if you have one.

thanks for the reply, brian, but unfortunately that is what i meant by the hard reboot. i've done that many, many times and it's still stuck. nothing is helping and i can't even get it to sync to iTunes to restore it.
