OS X Yosemite update. Stuck on restart. Can't move on.

upgraded my Mac pro to Yosemite. All was fine till the installment when now it tells me os x can not be installed, file system verify or repair failed. Asks me to quit installer or  and try again. When I do so, it tells me to pick the startup disk. After that it tells me I can not change startup disk, and it can't gather enough info. its a dead circle . I can't go on or back. What do I Do? Need my pro to work.... Please help. i don't even need Yosemite. Just did the upgrade with the rest of the updates.

Take a look at my post (above yours) - I think I had the same problem you do, but I was able to get my data off.  I still can't get into the OS or get it to reboot outside of Recovery Mode though..

Wrong!  Check out KB Article:  Intel-based Macs: Using Apple Hardware Test
Personally, I would not be running no test.  Apple has a 90 day warranty on all their repairs.  Return your computer to the repair shop but this time.......

    Hi Sully99999,
Thanks for contributing to the Apple Support Communities.
You mentioned that your MacBook Pro is beeping in the pattern 3 fast, 3 slow, 3 fast; and will not start up.
You can find an explanation of this beep pattern in the following support document:
Mac computers: About startup tones - Apple Support
3 long tones, 3 short tones, 3 long tones: Indicates EFI ROM corruption is detected and the computer is in EFI ROM recovery mode.
If your Mac does not respond to troubleshooting, you may need to seek service, as mentioned here:
If you hear beeps when your Mac starts up instead of the normal startup tone, your Mac may need to be serviced.
    From:
OS X Mountain Lion: If you hear beeps when your computer starts up
You can find more information about having your MacBok Pro serviced at this link:

  • How can I move/relocate images in Dreamweaver?

Hello, I'm 16 years old and just went on a mission: My dad's shop has no website, and recently in school we've been taught the most basics of how to design a website. So I set myself a personal goal, to create a website for my dad! I know it will take time and I will be struggling alot, and here after about 20 minutes work I'm already stuck. How can I move images?
I don't know what version of dreamweaver I'm using, but I only just downloaded it (30 days trial) from adobe.com so it must be the newest version.

In DW Help Menu > About Dreamweaver shows the version and build #
First, define  a local site folder.
Go to Site > New Site.   Tell DW where you want to keep your site files on your local hard drive.  See screenshot.

Yosemite 10.10.3 update stuck on 'less than a minute remaining' for 2 hours encounting?
    Anyone else having this?
Shall I just wait or can i force shut down or anything like that?
    Thanks.

I ended up having to force quit by holding down the power button after waiting 4 hours to see if it would resolve itself an load.
Wouldn't boot up properly, seemed to be stuck on the new apple logo with loading bar below so forced quit again and tried to restore form a time machine back up by holding cmd+R on restart. It said it was unable to do this so restarted again and it eventually started as normal and I was running 10.10.3 although I wasn't sure if the install was done correctly so did complete a restore from a time machine back up.
I think I will wait for another .1 update or just try again at a later date maybe.
    Thanks.

  • Have reformatted my Imac using original discs (installed leopard (10.5)) tried to do the software update but it cant download the itunes update and when it gets to the configure update screen after restart for main update, it just gets stuck. HELP!

have reformatted my Imac using original discs (installed leopard (10.5)) tried to do the software update but it cant download the itunes update and when it gets to the configure update screen after restart for main update, it just gets stuck. HELP!
The configure bar gets about an 1/8 full and then just does nothing. I think its lists the update as combo update? cant remember with out checking.
I have tried to do the disk verify and repair but this has made no difference.
Please let me know what i need to do, I have reformatted the mac just to start over as was clogged with a lot of useless data, I had installed lion (10.7) from the app store previously and now cant seem to find a way to re install lion. I hope I dont need to pay for it again?

If you erased your hard drive, you'll need to reinstll OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard to access the App store. You won't have to pay for OS X 10.7 Lion again. Did you try booting to the recovery partition by holding the command and r keys down? If that's still there, you can reinstall OS X 10.7 from there.
If you're looking to install the current iTunes, you need OS X 10.6.8 at a minimum.
If you're still trying to update OS X 10.5 Leopard, you can download the combo update from here.  Download, use Disk Utility to repair permissions, apply the update, then repair permissions again. That will take you to OS X 10.5.8.

  • MacBook Pro with retina display (2014) stuck on login screen after latest Yosemite update

Yesterday I ran the latest Yosemite update. The MacBook restarted afterwards, but the login screen won't respond to trackpad or keyboard. The MacBook is fully charged, BTW. I've shut down by holding the power key until it powers off, let it rest, and powered up again. I get the chime and the login screen, but I can't select anything either with trackpad or keyboard.
    OH

Sorry folks, this is me again.
NEVER MIND. I closed the lid, opened it, and all is well. I don't know what was going on, but it seems to have resolved itself.

  • Can't install yosemite update 10.10.2

    Hello
I having the worst time trying to install Yosemite update 10.10.2, the update finished to download, but when it restarted, there was an error, I tried to reinstall from App Store and it says "restar you computer" or something like that (I have my OS in Spanish, and I don't know how are the messages in english)
After I click in Restart, It says "The available updates has changed" and gives me two options, cancel, which obviously cancel the update process and "show details" which takes me back to App Store when I only can click in Restart, starting the loop again.
I tried to delete the updates from \Library\Updates and App Store searched again for updates, redownloaded them and the the same thing, the loop which I can't figure out to solve,
My WiFi is giving me a headache and I really need to install 10.10.2 update, somebody in apple can Help me to solve this???
    Thanks in advance
Oh, BTW, my Mac is a MacBook Pro, late 2011, Core I5, 8MB Ram, and 200GB of free space in main HD

  • Installed latest iOS on my iPad mini, it got stuck while restarting after update. It is still in that stage even after 7 hours.

installed latest iOS on my iPad mini, it got stuck while restarting after update. It is still in that stage even after 7 hours.

Placing your device into recovery (DFU-Device Firmware Upgrade) mode:
Follow these steps to place your iOS device into recovery mode. If your iOS device is already in recovery mode, you can proceed immediately to step 6.
       1. Disconnect the USB cable from the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, but leave the
other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
       2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds
until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
                  * If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the
Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off,
release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
      3. While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the
device. The device should turn on. Note: If you see the battery charge warning,
let the device charge for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has some
charge, and then start with step 2 again.
      4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen.
When this screen appears you can release the Home button:
      5. If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the following "recovery mode" alert:
      6. Use iTunes to restore the device.
If you don't see the "Connect to iTunes" screen, try these steps again. If you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen but the device does not appear in iTunes, see this article and its related links.
Note: When using recovery mode, you can only restore the device. All user content on the device will be erased, but if you had previously synced with iTunes on this computer, you can restore from a previous backup. See this article for more information.

  • HELP! SL stuck in final restart - can't access IMAC

just installed SL 'Family Pack' on my Macbook - all good.
Tried on the IMAC - unfortunately there were 'software updates' ready to go but the install had started. When it got to the first restart it was stuck in 'updates'. So I 'checked for more updates' and then restarted. Once restarted, the SL install icon showed the install had resumed after the restart.
Then at the CONGRATS prompt for the last restart, my IMAC never completed the restart and has been stuck there for over an hour. I rebooted - still stuck. Can't access the imac and dont know how to 'undo' or 'redo' whatever needs to be done. Managed to 'tickle' the disc out of the computer in case the reboot was stuck with the disc. Still no luck. GANT USE MY IMAC! HELP!

    Anyone?
I finally managed to download the newest combo update and installed it successfully!
However Safari still doesn't open. It keeps saying the following:
Check with the developer to make sure Safari works with this version of Mac OS X. You may need to reinstall the application. Be sure to install any available updates for the application and Mac OS X.
I also finally got access to App Store: but the download of Mountain Lion doesn't complete, because it seems to need Safari.
So I'm still stuck with the two issues:
    i) Safari doesn't work, and I can't get it to work unless I can reinstall/upgrade the OS.
ii) I can't upgrade the OS without Safari!
--- unless someone knows a way to install Lion/Mountain Lion _without_ Safari??
    Thanks for all your help!

Just to be clear. You have downloaded the Yosemite installer. However you say while it's updating you get the error you are not online. This is confusing since you shouldn't be able to use your computer in the process of updating.
Exactly where do you see you need to 10.9 to get on Safari?

With the new Yosemite update (10.10.3) I can no longer transfer my photographs into Adobe
Photoshop Elements by the previously expedient  'click and drag' method. Neither am I able to import or export them. Does anyone have a suggestion as to how to move pictures between the new Photos and Adobe Photoshop?

Ah yes school boy error there out of frustration and discontent..
My issue is with music/apps/films etc not downloading from iTunes / App Store.
They initially fail and message is displayed stating unable to download / purchase at this time, yet if I retry it says I've already purchased (?) or alternatively I go to the purchased section and there they are waiting with the cloud symbol..
However some items get frozen in the download window and cannot be retried or deleted. Message appears stating to tap to retry, but even if you stole every bath and sink in the uk you'd still not have enough taps.
I post here as the iTunes guys are useless in there 'help' and have only advised posting here or phoning apple, at my expense, to explain a problem that could be rectified by forwarding my original email to a techie. However the tech team apparently don't have an email address as they're from ye olde Middle Ages..!
    Anyways I digress.
So I tried sync to pc, but instead of showing the file as ready to listen/use/view, the iCloud symbol shows and I'm back to square one as the item is unable to download..
At frustration station waiting for a train from pain...
All my software is up to date, and had all worked fine prior to the last big iOS update that resulted in all the changes in display and dismay.
