OS10.4.8 absolutely needed for connecting classic?

I have an eMac running Panther and just bought an iPod classic. To my dismay, I get an error message when I connect the classic to my Mac, saying this iPod needs OS version 10.4.8. Is there a workaround for this, other than coughing up 150 bucks to buy a copy of Tiger? I really don't need Tiger for anything else and I'm planning on replacing the eMac with a Leopard machine sometime in 09. This makes buying Tiger now even more painful. Any ideas appreciated.

Just as an update: thanks to the help of some smart individuals on this board (first and foremost "srojtas" who came up with a workaround to install Leopard on a sub-spec machine), I am now running OS10.5.6 on my 800MHz eMac and the iPod connects just fine.

    I have a macbook air (mid 2012) and a thunderbolt display (27'').
    Do I absolutely need to connect the power supply together with the thunderbolt cable ?
    I found that the screen won't wake up if only the thunderbolt connection is plugged. Is this normal ?

    I just got my ATD and late 2011 MBP up and running. I've not tried running without the power adapter from the ATD plugged in, but I just tried and didn't have any problems with the display not waking. You may want to take your query to the ATD forum - https://discussions.apple.com/community/peripherals/thunderbolt_display - perhaps someone there has experienced a similar issue.
    Good luck,

  • What User authorization objects needed for connecting to SAP from xMII?

    We eneter a SAP user and password for connecting to SAP from xMII to retrieve the metadata of the incoming IDocs.
    When I specify a user with SAP_ALL user profiles, the IDocs are received properly in xMII. If I specify a user with privileges to run only certain transactions, IDocs are not received in xMII.
    What user authorization objects are needed for this user to connect to SAP from xMII?
    Thanks,
    Sara

    Sam,
    I turned on the SAP System trace for this user and figured out the following auth. objects are required for receiving IDocs in xMII:
    C_TCLA_BKA
    S_RFC
    S_CTS_ADMI
    B_ALE_MAST
    S_IDOCDEFT
    The following auth. object is required for making JCO call to SAP from xMII:
    C_AFRU_AWK
    Thanks,

  • Which files are needed for connection to database in 11gR2?

    I'm confused about the following files:
    sqlnet.ora
    tnsnames.ora
    listener.ora
    host file
    If I understand correctly, sqlnet.ora and tnsnames.ora can exist in both client and Oracle database server and listener.ora should only exist in Oracle database server. I guess host file can exist in both client and Oracle database server.
    I'm trying to understand which of the files are needed to access Oracle 11gR2 database using different tools such as
    sqlplus, SQL Developer, and Database Control on Oracle database server or from a client machine.
    If I'm on an Oracle database server, which of the files are needed for accessing 11gR2 database on that server for the different tools?
    If I'm on a client machine, which of the files are needed for accessing 11gR2 database on an Oracle database server for the different tools?

Some of the config parms available to it apply only to the server side, some apply only to the client side, some apply to both.
    tnsnames.ora is used by client processes to resolve a connect alias to a specicific host, port, and service. It is used ONLY by the client side of tns. You see it on host machines because those machines can also run client processes.
    host file. Oracle doesn't know what this file is. Oracle doesn't give a flying fig about this file. It is used by the standard network software in the OS to resolve a name to an IP address. The only reason you even see it discussed in the Oracle world is because Oracle TNS sits on top of the standard OSI network stack, and uses it. Thus, if your tnsnames file has an entry like:
    houston =
      (DESCRIPTION =
        (ADDRESS_LIST =
          (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = vmlnx01)(PORT = 1521))
        (CONNECT_DATA =
          (SERVICE_NAME = houston)
    #==========tns will never know or care where vmlnx01 is. The request will be packaged and sent to the standard network stack with a request to "route this package to vmlnx01, wherever that is.". The OS network stack will then resolve 'vmlnx01' to an ip address, by one of several possible methods. ONE of those methods is to look it up in the local hosts file.

  • What do i need for a classic pong game with real-life interface/ speedy-33?

    Lo guys, i'm a student, for my academic project i was kinda hoping to do a classic pong game with LabVIEW... 2 Palettes, a ball... except the goal is to involve the "outside world in this poject". So i was thinking of moving the palletes when a player's finger is moved (i guess i need a sensor, was thinking of placing a bright color on each finger so as to be detected). Note that i would be using speedy-33
    please guys i am very new to labview, and i need a project, i got one but i still dunno how to produce it... Thank you all
    Best regards.

    This should give you a good start. We did this as a wait window when we were updating software. It is old code so I do not want any comments on the coding style. It was done in fun and has not been updated in almost ten years.
    You will have to update the controls to work from a control vs automatically. Have fun let me know how this turns out.

  • Tuxedo10gR3VS2008 patches absolutely needed for Peopetools Installation

    I am building a VM with Windows 2008r2 with SQL08R2.
    I am going to install PeopleSoft HRMS on it. Hopefully it should work with SQL08R2 on WIN08R2.
    Anyways, during the Peopletools installation process I came across a place where i needed to install the Tuxedo 10gR3 VS2008 patches before i proceed for people tools installation. I do not have the Oracle Support ID as i am right now doing this as a POC for my company with all trial editions. So I was wondering is the patches for Tuxedo are absolutely necessary before i do the peopletools installation?
    -Vishal

    You did not tell your Peopletools version, let's assume you are on Peopletools 8.52... If you are speaking about the Tuxedo Rolling patch, then I'm not sure that is absolutely required to get it work, even though the RP043 is the minimum certified, find out more on http://edelivery.oracle.com ?
    Otherwise, VS2008 is provided within Peopletools, once installed, you can run if needed %PS_HOME%\setup\psvccrt\psvccrt_retail.msi.

  • Example needed for connecting to 3 Informix databases

    I'm attempting to connect and use 2 different informix databases within the same app.
    Connection 1 (Sql selects records where status = 'pending'
    Connection 2 (Results from connection 1 are passed to a stored procedure
    Connection 3 (Updates Database used in con1 with return values from con2
    I'm able to successfully code connection 1 but I'm totally confused on the others.
    How do you switch back and forth between each connection?
    Thanks in advance
    Steve

    all you need to do is make 2 connections:
    //setup code
    Connection conn1 = DriverManager.getConnection(url, user, pass);
    Connection conn2 = DriverManager.getConnection(url2, user2, pass2);I have made a couple of classes that can simplifiy this. e.g. the entire code consists of
    dbConnection oc = new OracleConnection();
    dbConnection pc = new PostgresqlConnection();
    oc.createConnection("prodops");
    pc.createConnection("test");I havn't made an informix class, but they are simple to do. Give me your email address if you want the classes.

  • Is setting up of proxy needed for connection?

    Hi, I'm trying to establish a dialup connection through the return channel of an emulator. The modem did dial up, but the connection is never established since the ConnectionEstablishedEvent is never received after the modem finishes dialing.
    The connection must have hang there although the application is still able to run since connecting is asynchronous. I cant disconnect it although I can release the resource. When I rerun the application again, the ConnectionFailedEvent is thrown. Ive to restart the computer or reinstall the modem in order for the computer to detect the modem.
    I was thinking this might be due to the fact that I did not put in proxy settings. Does the return channel API allow me to put in both the proxys IP address and port number?
    Thks to any help offered.
    Here is some of the code:
          rcm = RCInterfaceManager.getInstance();
          interfaces = rcm.getInterfaces();
          if (interfaces[0] instanceof ConnectionRCInterface)
            myInterface = (ConnectionRCInterface)interfaces[0];
              myInterface.reserve(this,null);
              InetAddress[] netAddGrp = new InetAddress[2];
              InetAddress netAdd = InetAddress.getByName("203.117.33.19");
              netAddGrp[0] = netAdd;
              netAdd = InetAddress.getByName("203.117.33.18");
              netAddGrp[1] = netAdd;
               ConnectionParameters myConnectionParameters;
               myConnectionParameters = new ConnectionParameters("68259777",canbeen","123", netAddGrp);
              myInterface.setTarget(myConnectionParameters);
              myInterface.connect();
       }

    I've solve the problem. It either lies with the emulator or that the emulator is incompatible with my Windows 2000. When I tried my code with Xletview, it works perfectly.

  • Requirements for JDBC Driver needed for SOA 8 }connection pool

    Hi,
    I have an AS400 jdbc driver. This driver is JDBC API version 2.x. Also is a Driver Type 4.
    What are the requirements of a JDBC Driver needed for connection pool in SOA 8?
    Thanks.
    Lorenzo Jimenez

    You can use pretty much any jdbc driver, including type 2 and type 4.
    You need to make sure your shared libraries needed by the driver are available to the appserver when you boot.
    Other than that, it is no different than configuring any other driver.

  • My office just bought me an iMac and I absolutely need to hook up a second monitor but there is no DVI connection on it, just a Thunderbolt. What do I do? Please help ASAP!!!

    My office just bought me an iMac and I absolutely need to hook up a second monitor but there is no DVI connection on it, just a Thunderbolt. What do I do? Please help ASAP!!! The imac is a 21.5" and they also already bought an HD 21.5 ASUS LCD monitor to attach to it. I'm really trying to make this setup work but this is becoming a nightmare. Any suggestions? I looked up  different VGA adapters but the only options for this would be a usb-vga connection which doesn't work on macs. Can anyone tell me if this new Thunderbolt connection will work in some way? Thanks

    Using the Thunderbolt port attach a Mini-display to DVI so long as the Asus display is equipped and capable, otherwise Mini-display to VGA will also work. The Thunderbolt port is ahead devices  which are not yet available to take advantage of the increased capacity in speed. Until the devices and connection cables are available, just use the port as a Mini-display port.

    I totally understand.
    Check some things from here, I have 2 and they have been great so far.
    Check here, lots of storage and reasonable prices. Also great support, you get to speak to a person
    Clean off your on the G5 drive and off you go.
    I suggest buying a second drive and setting it up for a back up, Time Machine or Carbon Copy Cloner, or SuperDuper (both "bootable" back up) All searchable on the web.
    http://eshop.macsales.com/search/elite+pro
    You can talk to a person for REAL advice, Phone: 800.275.4576  Ask about exporting to your G5 and and exporting to your existing OSX, you may only need a small inexpensive drive for this.
    Quick delivery and willing to help.
    Hope this makes you back up and running :-)
    Do get a back up drive, as it is not ""whether my drive will fail, as much as "when my drive fails"

    Actually you need a Thunderbolt to HDMI adapter. It will carry both audio and video.
    This one will work: Mini DisplayPort | Thunderbolt® to HDMI® Adapter w/ Audio Support
