OS4 email threading groups emails by subject from different people

Currently using iPhone 3GS with OS4.
Have email threaded turned on.
Gmail synced via exchange.
Gmail in actual browser has various threads for multiple contacts separated bit all with the same subject "2010".
Initially for the last week iPhone handled this the same way but suddenly today they all got grouped in the same thread. Is there a way to fix this? Will this be fixed in future releases?

Mail sorting messages from different people in the same thread?

I have this weird issue. It's happened before but I figured I might be able to figure this out.
I got a response from somebody this morning and whats happening is, when I click on his response, the email shows up on the right like it should. However, ths email is from "Floyd" and shows as email "2". It shows another email below it in the "thread" from "Taryn" and has absolutely nothing to do with this email. The only similarities are the subject line which says "Poster". The "First" email from Taryn is from April. It seams as if it's sorting the emails by subject line. I don't want emails from different people in the same thread. Any thoughts on how to fix this issue? Image attached.

This question is about the same as mine. I migrated all my data from old mac mini to new mac mini. System screwed up and permission and owners were not setup. Now I'm trying to salvage this mess. I'm also trying to import mail, which I think should be on the computer but I don't know where.

Why has mail on the ipad grouped several emails from different people with different subject matter into one thread?

This is really annoying.
The email initially started with me sending to one person. Which we then conversed several times without any issues.
I then sent a separate email completely unrelated to someone on a completely different email address, but when they replied back somehow their reply joined the same thread as this other email i sent initially.
Thinking that it might be a one of... I ignored it.
However, just now, an email i created through the LinkedIn app, which i sent from LinkedIn to a contact, somehow joined that first thread, when the person on linked in replied back to me.
Obviously i receive an email to my Mail account whenever someone messages me on linked in... But why on earth would that reply automatically get grouped into the completely different thread of emails?
I NOW have emails to three different people who are completely unrelated with three completely unrelated subjects, that are appearing in one thread with no obvious way to separate these.
Any solutions or suggestions? I've tried to move them, but it will only let me move the the messages into different folders, and not my inbox as separate messages.

Thanks for the response. Regarding your question, Yes, I have confirmed that people were receiving multiple copies.
I've confirmed this as I had left a Gmail message open on my browser window and opened that same message from Mail: As I was writing the response from Mail, without sending anything, new notifications started to appear over the same message in the browser window, notifying me there were new messages from Myself! So when I started to open those "new replies", I came to the conclusion that as I was typing, a draft was being saved and sent as a new message at the same time, therefore sending a lot of emails until I finished to write the message without knowing...
Hard to explain but hope I've made my point.

Incoming emails not visable,cannot see Subject - from or date

in only 1 of my 4 accounts emails come in but are not visible to view Subject From and Date there are just bars across the field.
However in the lower preview section the full email is visible how do i fix this
I tried folder repair with no luck.
The computer is running windows 8
Thunderbird version 31.5.0

right click the folder, select properties and then the repair button, and we will see what is recovered.

Gmail subject from different sender than its contents

Hello all:
Suddenly, a few days ago, I noticed that some (10%) of my gmail, downloaded using IMAP to Apple Mail, is curiously mixed up and missing:
The Subject and From are LinkedIn, but the Reply to and the entire BODY of the message are from WestJet airlines. There is no matching subject/from WestJet and no matching body from LinkedIn. Online, everything is fine - the problem is in the download.
I have not upgraded to Mavericks because I am afraid of such problems. Is there a quick fix? Rebuild? Thank you so much!

Multiple 1&1 email accounts, how do I send from different accounts?

I have an iPhone 3G with 2.x software on it.
I have 1&1 hosting email accounts with different username/pwds, but they all point to smtp.1and1.com to send.
I have no problem receiving emails (POP3 or IMAP), but when sending email (SMTP), I have only one option for outgoing smtp on server smtp.1and1.com. I can't setup multiple smtp servers that use the same server DNS name, but different username/pwds. I have tried some of the other 1&1 SMTP server names like smtp.perfora.net and mrelay.perfora.net (which work fine with outlook), but the iPhone keeps saying they are invalid.
Any help?

I am only checking one Gmail account on my phone, but there are multiple smtp.gmail.com servers listed, each with different usernames/passwords, that were transferred to the phone when I synced settings from Apple Mail.

and i lost all 3rd party apps and app data on my dad's ipad.
we have two ipads at home. the one belonging to my dad was never synced to an itunes library ever! it was set up as new right from the ipad. now, to install ios 7 on it i followed the instructions above and 'made a new library' in my user accound on the mac. my dad doesn't have any user account on our home mac as he never uses the computer at home.
so then i 'backedup' everything from my dad's ipad to the library and then updated it. upon restoring it brought back everything inside the bundled ios apps but the 3rd party apps and its data was gone!!!
i disticntly remember 'syncing' it before restoring it but itunes 11.1 didn't 'transfer' the purchases on its own. i should had known. now my dad has lost considerible data like saved articles in various news apps, game data, etc...
i dont know what to do. i dont know of this is reversible but if i could atleast know the best way to manage ios devices from multiple users with ONE ITUNES LIBRARY, that would be great!

Responding to many emails with one email

If you receive a bunch of emails from different people who are not in your address book and not linked to each other, for example, response to a craigslist listing, is there a way to respond to all of them with one email?

Andreas Amann’s Mail Scripts has an Add Addresses script that I believe would allow you to easily create a new group in Address Book with those people. You can then send the message to the group and get rid of the group afterwards if you wish.

Creating a group in address book from a group of emails

Hello,
I would like to create an email group in Address Book from a list of email addresses that was sent to me.
The scenario: I receive an email from our team manager for my son's baseball team. Listed in the "To:" header in the email are the 20 email addresses for the parents. I would like to copy/paste those emails or highlight/drag them into a new Group created in Address Book.
How do I do this without adding each individual email into the address book and then dragging each individual contact into the Group?

Why do emails of the same subject show as different emails from each person who replies?
In the old BlackBerry I was using I used to get all emails in 1 thread now I have different emails.

Setting your Z10 to display email threads in conversation view instead of appearing as single messages is a great way to manage your messages. To turn on conversation view, complete the following steps:
1. In the BlackBerry Hub, tap the action key (3 dots button located in the button right corner)
2. Tap Settings followed by Display and Actions
3. Set Display Style to Conversation from Single Messages
4.Tap Back to save your changes

Grouping email threads like in Gmail

Gmail is brilliant! It groups email threads together automatically so you don't have as many rows of email to sift through. Very good for keeping email organized. Can you do this in Mac Mail? If not, how can we request this feature or plug-in or whatever?

Organize by Thread from Mail's View menu. This is the only built-in option.
If you want to file a feature request, but report, etc. on any Apple product you can do so at Feedback.

Can I send a group email from my iPod?

Occasionally I need to send email to my Sunday School class. It is easy to compose a group email from my computer, but the group names don't show up in my email address list on the iPod. I can select the group name and manually select each individual, but that is quite time consuming on a list of 40 people.
Is there a way to select the entire group on the iPod Touch?

You need an app to do that. There are a number of them, such as Speed Names.

How do I include the subject from an email in the body of a response email?

First off, let me apologize if this is addressed somewhere else in the forum. I searched used many different variations on the theme, to no avail.
So, yes, I am a former PC/Outlook user who made the "switch". For the most part, I couldn't be happier. However, one thing that I have been searching and searching for an answer on is: including all the info from an original email (i.e. subject, to, from, date) in a response email. Because wording this is a bit tricky, I am going to show what I mean by example.
Apple Mail includes the original email info like this:

Hello, and welcome to the Discussions.
I use the Append Selected Messages feature to do this. Prior to clicking on Reply, you can highlight the smallest amount of text, and then delete that text, and then Append the message by having Selected in in the list of messages.
You can do this for one, or many messages. With a Reply, you would only append the one message. See:

Attachments in a group email sent from outlook 2007 do not show in the message

iPad doesn't show attachments in a group email sent from a Windows 7 PC using outlook 2007. Doesn't matter what the attachment is, if it is sent to a group created in Outlook the attachments do not come through. Is this a bug in iOS? My Google Nexus 4 phone handles the attachments just fine.

How can I edit the Subject Line of an ongoing thread of emails?

Is there a way to edit the Subject of an email? At times the topic of conversation changes throughout an ongoing thread of emails, and I'd like to manage that by editing the Subject before filing it into a folder.

The problem with the add-on solution is it stops working every time there is a new Thunderbird release. Editing the subject line is a fundamental feature than should be built-in. How can you possibly file incoming messages if you can't give them a meaningful subject.
It is your data. It effects no one else.
