OS4 update and connect to itunes
I have the latest version of itunes on my computer. I tried to update the software on my 3rd gen ipod touch to the OS4. Computer restarted automatically (presumably after install, but I wasn't watching it the whole time).
Now my computer and itunes won't recognize the ipod. I get a "new hardware" bubble that calls the ipod "Apple Recovery (iBoot) USB Driver". After that, a hardware installation box opens with, "The software you are installing for this hardware: Apple Recovery (iBoot) USB Driver has not passed Windows logo testingto verify its compatibility with Windows XP."
The cycle just repeats over and over and over again. The ipod just has the connect to itunes icon, and won't do anything else. I've tried holding the home/sleep buttons, and nothing happens.
Do I now have a $200+ paperweight?
Its been happening to a LOTTTTT of people, myself included! lol.
Apparently there's something wrong with the new Apple update, however Apple won't respond themsevles!!!
What i did was download and install iTunes on a different computer, then connected my Ipod Touch and restored and updated it. Then when i plugged it back into my own computer, it restored all my apps and music, and that seemed (at the minute lol) to solve the problem.

i tried reseting my ipod today and had a similar problem... it wont be recognized by itunes, the only thing i havent tried is putting it into DFU mode, or the state that it is in when u recieve it telling u to connect it to itunes.i recommend putting it into DFU mode. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=34v8HMC9B98 this should better explain it. if i find another way, ill keep u updated

You have to use recovery mode which will totally erase the iPad. Read here.

I had my iphone 3GS and then upgraded to 6.1.3. Now the phone is in a loop and reboots everytime the Apple logo comes up. I held teh home power and connected to itunes to retore, but it won't restore. any ideas?

Do you have a SIM in the phone?
A SIM is required to activate it.
If you DO have a SIM in it, the most common cause of this problem is a phone that was hacked to illegally unlock it and has been updated or restored. -

My iphone 4 is telling me I have to restore but when I plug in and connect to itunes, it freezes about 30-50 % through the process. Now I can't use my phone at all? I am waiting about 1-3 hours for this process to finish and nothing ever happens. HELP!!
Put it into DFU mode - hold the sleep/wake button and home button until the screen goes black (ignoring the slide to turn off slider). When the screen goes black release the sleep/wake button but hold the home button. Continue holding the home button for 10 seconds, then release it. The screen should stay black. Plug it into iTunes and it should come up with this message "iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. It must be restored before use", that's when it is successfully in DFU mode. Now press the restore button in iTunes and it should run smoothly :)
