OSB how to connect to SAP?

Dear experts,
Could you give some hints about how to connect to SAP using OSB(ALSB)? Using oracle's adapters?
Further, pls. give some docs(gudies) about how to config it.
One of our customers is hurrying to do a POC to verify OSB is suitable for integration with SAP.
Thanking you!
michael

Michael,
You can talk to your sales or mail to PM ([email protected]) to get a early access bits if urgently required.
ERP adapters that can work with OSB/weblogic will be shortly released and so will be the documentation.
Install ERP adapter (separate installer)
Deploy adapter to weblogic JCA container (after configuring ra.xml)
Use iwae to create target/channels and generate WSDL.
Publish wsdl to OSB project.
Create BS/PS as required using JCA transport.

HI expects,
            HOW COULD CONNECT FROM SAP SYSTEM TO THIRD PARTY JAVA or . DET APPLICATION.please provide me some scenarios and documents.please help me.

Hi,
In the sender side i.e. in SAP system you can use IDoc/RFC/Proxy to push the data to XI.
IDoc supports only Async communication and in Sync case performace is good using Proxy.
In the receiver side you can use Java Proxy to connect to the Java application or you can even bulid a webservice over the Java/.Net application and use SOAP adapter to post data to it.

• BO Analysis for Excel – How to connect to SAP BW

Hi Gurus,
We recently upgrade to BO 4.1 (from 3.1).  And want to start to use Analysis for Excel.
We are little unclear how to connect from Analysis for Excel to SAP BW 7,3.
From Analysis select “Select Data Source” Then get a pop-up “Logon to SAP BussinessObjects BI Platform” with User, Password and Web Service URL.  All those are blank.  For the Web Service URL there is a message “Error while checking availability of SAP BussinessObjects BI Platform system”
If choose “Skip” then get SAP Logonpad and can log on to BW.  From there I can choose the BW queries directly.
What is the best practice to connect from Analysis for Excel to SAP BW?
Is it not possible to connect to the BO server?  And choose OLAP connection from there to connect to BW?
If so, is something missing in our setup?
Regards,
Reynir

Yes you need to define an OLAP connection of you are connecting to BW through the BIP - see tutorial http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-20625
You can also connect directly to BW without going through BIP
I also recommend searching before you post per SCN rules - there are many posts about creating OLAP connections

• How to connect to SAP AS JAVA?

Hi,
I am developing an JAVA application, which will connect to SAP AS Java dataSource. My environment don't have ABAP installed. So, I believe use of JCo connector is not an option.
Is ther any other connector API jar available to connect to SAP AS JAVA Datasource?
Could anyone please help me with a detail guide to connect to SAP AS Java Datasource using any APIs provided by SAP?
Thanks
Alingan

Hi Aligan,
Thant's correct, you have to develop a service on your EP and then you can change the UME persistence (user creation etc).
Now you can write a J2EE app which will call your service to cater your requirement.
Please go through the below links which will help you to achieve the same

• How to connect to SAP Database from a Adobe flex application?

Hi
I am an intern currently working on designing an Adobe flex interface that interacts with an SAP Database, although im torn between methods of implementing the most efficient connection without over-complicating the problem. I believe the best approach would be to use SAPJCo but am unfamiliar with how to approach this method and am finding it hard to get detailed documentation or code examples which show connecting to a Database. Another approach would be using a web service but my problems again arise with my lack of knowledge to connect to the Database.
Any advice or help would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Jonny

Hi Jonathan.
I believe webservice is the best approach, steps to create webservice is very simple.
1. create a webservice from a standard rfc or bapi.
2. release and activate webservice.
3. it will generate wsdl file which can be used in flex environment.
creating webservice.

• How to connect to SAP HANA Trial Instance using ODBC

Hi,
I am a newbie to SAP HANA. I have a trial account and have created a new SAP HANA instance using it. I have also installed the HANA Client Tool(Dev edition). I wanted to create a ASP.NET application to consume HANA database on trial instance. Creating ODBC connection requries server:port that are not available in case of trial instance. Can this be done ?
Instead can I create a Java application that consumes HANA database on trial instance using JDBC ?
Need an answer ASAP. Thanking you in advance.

• How to connect from SAP on DB2 for i5/OS to external oracle database

Hello,
I managed to retrieve data from an external DB2 for i5/OS database using ABAP Native SQL running on another i5/OS server.
I also managed to retrieve data from an external oracle database using ABAP Native SQL running on another Windows/Oracle server.
Now i want to use ABAP Native SQL running on an i5/OS and retrieve data from an external Oracle database?
I suppose i need software to connect fron I5/OS to this oracle database like you need extra software when you want to connect to an i5/OS database if you are running SAP on Windows (read note 751451)
Does anybody know?
Thanks in advance
Bertil Rebergen

Hello Bertil,
to access an Oracle database from within an SAP system you'll need SAP's database interface library specific for Oracle plus the Oracle database client library utilized by SAP's database interface library. Both need to be available for the operating system your application server runs on, i.e. IBM i5/OS in your scenario.
Since the required Oracle database client software is not available for IBM i5/OS your SAP application servers on IBM i5/OS cannot access your Oracle database.
To overcome this limitation you would need to add at least one additional SAP application server based on Windows or Linux/Power to your current SAP system utilizing IBM DB2 for i5/OS. Since the required software libraries are available for these two operating systems you will be able to solve your problem this way.
Best Regards, Christian Hoelters, SAP AG.

• How to connect 2 SAP BW systems to one SAP BO?

Hi
Two companies from the group I'm working for wants to connect their BW system to corporate BO system.
BW system are independent of each other. My concern is about SSO authentication.
Will it be any problem to configure SSO between BO and BW if 2 BW systems are defined there?
Does any one face this kind of lanscape challenge before?
Any other issue should I be aware of?
Thanks

There are different possibilities.
Since you are saying that you already have a connection with SWIFTNet (Make sure you also have a Swift Alliance Gateway account without which you will not be able to post messages to SWIFTNet.), I assume that you also have the SAP BCM in place.
Now if you want to place a message via FIN/FileAct, you can write a custom program to create a file that is in line with the Swift standards. You can find the details of the file formats, etc.. from the SWIFT site. For FileAct, additionally you will have to create a .par file along with the .FTA file. This is for the FTA to understand the parameters.
Once that is done, you can place the files in a folder and configure the FTA to pick up these files. This is for FileAct.
For posting messages via FIN, you can have another program to post these files to SAG (SAG supports web services) via SOAP.
Hope this helps.

• How to Connect to SAP

Hi Experts,
I am working on a new business requirement to implement Adobe forms for Purchase department needs for the following Scenario.
Client is using SAP and have a staff of 50 that ONLY create Purchase Requisitions. So SAP has 50 userids and as many licensing requirements. Now the client wants to get away from the licensing and use some kind of Form ( viz. Adobe interactive ) so that all the data entry/ querying is done on workstation and backend calls are made to SAP using one generic ID.
I have worked with SAP and Adobeforms, that are launched from within SAP via a plug-in for any forms requirement, such as Invoice/ barcodes etc.
Now, My question(s) to you all, is,
1. how do I communicate to SAP after I am done with my forms design in Adobe Lifecycle Designer?.
2. How do I make an executable program, once I design/ develop code so that I am able to communcate to SAP back and forth?
3. How many licenses do I need for 50 or so people and related costs?
4. What are the downsides to this approach?
5. Any show stoppers that I should know, before I starting barking this kind of tree?
6. Anyone used this kind of model and successful with their implentation?
Thanks a bunch in advance to your cooperation .
Regards,
AbapGuy

1. how do I communicate to SAP after I am done with my forms design in Adobe Lifecycle Designer?.
Before you begin on the form I recommend that you figure out the SAP side first. Analyze and determine which SAP transaction(s) is required to access the data, determine which interfaces (if any) the transaction(s) supports, determine which interface the SAP admin is willing to expose outside of SAP, take a look at the data model and the data the interface provides, get security straightened out (this can kill you), etcetera.
2. How do I make an executable program, once I design/ develop code so that I am able to communcate to SAP back and forth?
If the SAP transaction is exposed via WSDL, go with web services. You can use the SAP WSDL to do data binding in the form and call the SOAP endpoint.
3. How many licenses do I need for 50 or so people and related costs?
To execute a web service call from the PDF in Reader, the form has to be Reader-extended using LiveCycle Reader Extensions.
4. What are the downsides to this approach?
To execute a web service call from the PDF in Reader, the form has to be Reader-extended using LiveCycle Reader Extensions.
5. Any show stoppers that I should know, before I starting barking this kind of tree?
If you are SAP fluent, the form is easy. If you are not SAP fluent, find someone who is. Security on the WDSL and the SOAP endpoint can be challenging.
6. Anyone used this kind of model and successful with their implentation?
I have done it recently.

• How to connect to SAP DB2 server in Biztalk 2013

I have Biztalk 2013 server installed.I have installed all the adapters installed during the instllation wizard.
But I am not able to find the Db2 adapter in consume adapter metadata option.
Can someone suggest what i am missing ot how to consume it ?

Hi,
You can use Microsoft Host Integration Server 2010 or 2013 together with BizTalk 2013. I recommend you to use the latest version of Host Integration Server 2013 (HIS) because it also supports DB2 V10 and V11. As Host Integration Server is part of BizTalk,
you don't need an additional license if you run it on the same server.

• How to connect SAP R/3- System with SAP NetWeaver Portal (2004s)?

Hello to all,
sorry, can someone help me? How can I connect SAP R/3- System with SAP NetWeaver Portal (2004s)?
Thanks and regards,
Galyna

Hi,
In previous link contain this info
This describes how to connect an SAP R/3 system to SAP NetWeaver Portal using an iView
1)      Go to System Administration
2)      Go to System Configuration
3)      Go to Portal Content (Right Side Panel), open that folder.
4)      Right Click on Portal Content, a Panel is displayed select "System (from Template)".
5)      That will display a new view on right side, now select "SAP system using dedicated application server" from
the existing templates. (Other templates are possible - for example, load balanced or through a SAProuter connection string).
For this exercise, we'll use the simplest type.
6)      Choose next
7)      Give the System Name and System Id (which are mandatory fields) incase you want to give any brief notes
about the system then give them in the "Description" field.
8)      Open the Newly Created System.
9)      Now when you want to create a New System, you have to fill four Properties they are:
"Connector" - contains basic connectivty details
"Internet transaction Server (ITS) - if you wish to use SAPGUI for HTML and/or IACs",
"Web Application Server" - if you wish to access BSPs and/or Web Dynpro for ABAP and
"User Management".
You also need at least one "System Alias" has to be defined from the Display drop down menu.
Make sure you have set end user access in the Permissions drop down menu to all users who need to access the system
10)  Select "Connector" property, now fill the required fields such as:
a)      Application Host (should be fully qualified hostname) - Give the R/3 "Application Name",
which can be obtained from the SAP Logon Pad (check what R/3 system you are using, right click on it , go to the properties,
it will open a window which has the Application Server Name.
b)      Logical System Name - Give the logical name as defined in the backend system
c)      SAP Client - Check the Client in the backend system and give the appropriate number (3 digits)
d)      SAP System ID(SID)* - Check the R/3 properties and give the check for System ID
e)      System Type* - Since we are connecting to R/3, select SAP_R3 system.
f)       System Number - This is a two digit number that you can find in the SAP Logon Pad
11)  Select "Internet transaction Server (ITS)" property, now fill the required fields like
a)      ITS Description à Give some Description
b)      ITS Host Name - Same as "Application Host" of R/3 (when integrated ITS) and should be attached with the
port number of ITS Server (to get port number detailed description is given below). ex: hostname : port number
c)      ITS Path - To get the path along with the port number you have to Log on to R/3 system. Use the
Transaction Code "SICF", it opens a new window go to:
          default_host -> sap -> bc -> gui -> sap -> its -> webgui -> SAP GUI for HTML -> right click on
that and click "Test Service'. This will open a new window, on the address bar you will find the "port number", and
the path something like (/sap/bc/gui/sap/its/webgui). Use the path after the port number.
d)      ITS Protocol - There are two protocols "http" & "https", select the appropriate protocol which is
visible when you opened "Test Service" window.
12)  Select "Web Application Server" property , now fill the required fields like
a)      Web AS Description -> Give some Description
b)      Web AS Host Name - same as ITS Host Name
c)      Web AS Path - usually /sap/bc/bsp/sapd)*
Web AS Protocol - should be same as the ITS Protocol.
13)   Select "User Management" property, now fill the required fields like
a)      Authentication Ticket Type - Since we are not using SSO leave the field
empty i.e. put in select mode. (Please note that longer term you will probably want to use SSO)
b)      Logon Method - Select UIDPW.
c)      User Mapping Type - In case you have administration rights then you choose "admin" or in case you
just have user rights then choose "user", better go for "admin/user".
14)   Since all the required fields are filled appropriately now create a System Alias name, this can be done by following steps:
a) go to Display -> Select "System Aliases" give some Alias Name, let's call it "SAP_R/3"
15)  Now that System is created we have to create a iView which will display the given Transaction Code.
16)  Go To "Content Administration".
17)  Go To "Portal Content".
18)  Go to Portal Content (Right Side Panel), open that folder
19)  Right Click on Portal Content, a Panel is displayed select "New" -> iView
20)  Select iView template, click next
21)  Select "SAP Transaction iView" from the list of templates available. Click next.
22)  Give the iView name and iView ID. Incase you want to give any brief notes about the iView then give it in "Description" field. Click next
23)   Select "SAP GUI for HTML" radio button. Click next
24)  Now select the system which you have create "SAP_R/3", give some Transaction Code, say SE12 (Dictionary Display). Click next and Finish.
25)  Now Preview the iView
26)  You will see a new Window where in SE12 Dictionary Display window is displayed.
Regards,
Senthil K.

• RFC Connect to SAP with JavaScript

Dear all,
is there a way to directly connect to SAP via RFC using JavaScript. Are there any tutorials or code snipplets?
Kind regards
Roman

Hi,
If you are running in a windows environment you can use COM functionality to connect to SAP. Here is some example code for you.
main()
function main()
         var txt;
         var Row;
         var Row2;
         var BAPI = new ActiveXObject( "SAP.Functions" );
         var Connection = BAPI.Connection;
         Connection.ApplicationServer = "xxx";
         Connection.Client = "xxx";
         Connection.SystemNumber = xxx;
         Connection.User = "xxx";
         Connection.Password = "xxx";
         Connection.logon(0,true);
         var Running = BAPI.Add("EW_TH_WPINFO");
         var Servers = BAPI.Add("TH_SERVER_LIST");
         var Tables = Servers.tables("LIST");
         var Dest = Running.exports("DESTINATION");
         Dest.value = "NONE";
         var CPU = Running.exports("WITH_CPU");
         CPU.value = "00";
         var List = Running.tables("WPLIST");
         Running.Call;
         Servers.Call;
         for (var enumerator = new Enumerator(Tables.Rows) ;
         !enumerator.atEnd(); enumerator.moveNext())
              Row = enumerator.item();
              Dest.value = Row("NAME");
              Running.Call;
              for (var enumerator2 = new Enumerator(List.Rows);
              !enumerator2.atEnd(); enumerator2.moveNext())
                   Row2 = enumerator2.item();
                   if (Row2("WP_REPORT").length > 0){
                        txt = txt + "\n" + Row2("WP_PID") + "\t" + Row2("WP_REPORT") + "\t" + Row2("WP_BNAME");
         WScript.echo(txt);
function jsTrim(strInput)
         var strResult;
         var objRegex = new RegExp("(^
s)|(
s$)");
         strResult = strInput.replace(objRegex, "");
         return(strResult);
This code just gets a list of current users. Save the file  as running.js and fill in the xxx parameters with what is relevent for your system.
You will need wdtfuncs.ocx and librfc32.dll registered on your machine.
Hope this helps.
PS in the widgets forum I have given you an example of how to connect to SAP via RFC within widgets.
