OSB installation

I have installed Weblogic and SOA server (11.1.1.5) on my Ubuntu developer machine and am up and running fine. I have now attempted to install OSB but am not sure it worked successfully.
I believe the install worked ok as there is a Oracle_OSB1/ directory within my Middleware directory. I ran the configuration GUI and extended my existing domain, so I believe that worked fine, particularly since I now see the WLI_QS_REPORT_DATA and WLI_QS_REPORT_ATTRIBUTE tables within the SOA repository.
My problem is that I can't bring up the OSB console ... I'm trying http://localhost:7001/sbconsole, which is giving me a 404. Some more info:
- single domain called "*domain1*"
- Admin server listening on port 7001
- Managed server "*soa_server1*" listening on port 8001
- Managed server "*bam_server1*" listening on port 9001 but SHUTDOWN
Am I doing something wrong?

One thing I noticed when installing the OSB software was that the prerequisite check failed. It seemed to indicate that package gtk2 was not installed, but Synaptic shows that libgtk2.0-0 is installed, so it might be a red herring.
I don't see anything of interest in the admin logs, but there's alot in there.

OSB installation on Oracle Database Appliance (ODA) for filesystem backup

There does not appear to be any special documentation for installing the OSB client on an ODA. However, the following errors occur on all of our ODAs when attempting to install the OSB client:

This is probably due to the uncompress utility being unavailable.
Make sure uncompress is available and then re-run setup.

Note that the symlink of uncompress to unzip is directly from the OSB installation documentation. None of those files exist in /usr/tmp, but there is a similarly named .Z file there. However the file name changes, so it cannot just be renamed or manually uncompressed. I also tried extracting from the mentioned "gserver.tz" file, to no avail.
Please advise as to how to complete OSB client installation on an ODA.

OSB installation - replacing log4j with more newer version

Hi,
Is it safe to replace in production a log4j_1.2.8.jar file that is a part of OSB installation with a newer version - log4j-1.2.16.jar?
We try using JBoss JMS client in the domain where OSB is installed, however it requieres at least 1.2.12 version of log4j.

I wouldn't replace any library bundled with WebLogic. I would rather put new jar into the application and set prefer-web-inf-classes to true.

OSB Installation in production environment

I am trying to install OSB 11g in production mode. But, the problem is its always pointing to the evaluation database, even though I don't require any DB (not using the reporting feature or OWSM). I saw the following workaround and it worked fine, but is it the only way?
This error you will normally see if you use the built in pointbase db with production domains only.
I would recommend you use different database in pointbase or better an oracle database. Work around would be to delete WL_LLR* from you point base and the domain will start with out problem.
If you are not aware of how to delete the table in Pointbase/Derby, then other workaround (I normally use when using production domain with Derby/Poinbase) option would be to open config .xml and delete <jdbc-system-resource>

Hello Bijoy,
The evaluation database is provided for use by the sample applications and code examples. If you do not want to use evaluation DB then don't install it.
To not install evaluation DB, while installing weblogic, select custom installation type, uncheck the "Evaluation Database" checkbox ("Server Examples" will automatically get unchecked) and proceed. Now your weblogic will be installed without an evaluation DB.

Usually, when you choose for example Oracle Service Bus Extension - Single Server Domain Topology - 11.1.1.3 [Oracle_OSB1], the dependencies are automatically chosen as well.
If this not happening, just add the products it is suggesting in the error, such as Oracle Service Bus OWSM Extension - 11.1.1.3 [Oracle_OSB1] .

Multiple OSB Installations

Hi,
I need to install OSB on approximately 80 servers across two data centres.
Is it possible to install each of the server types (Admin, Media and Client) on three machines using the install script and patch the install. Then, 'tar' up the installations and roll out across the rest of the servers?
What problems might I encounter in doing this? I'm trying to speed up the installation process across our environment.

Hmm, no. OSB creates some hostid files when you do the installation, it's certainly not all contained in /usr/local/oracle/backup.
I have a similarly sized setup, with clients using Linux 32, Linux 64, Solaris and Windows. My process is to keep the installation CD on a central file server which then NFS and CIFS shares the CD. I can then go onto each system and install from the central fileserver.
For Linux installations it takes less than a minute, Windows is about 2 minutes and Solaris about 10 minutes (due to the libraries). So if you environment is mostly Linux and Windows, then it won't actually take that long to do the installations.
Of course you then need to add each client into the OSB host list, so you could create a script on the admin server to do all the obtool mkhost.

Separate OSB installations on same subnet interfere with one another

We currently have 1 OSB cluster installation running with two nodes, and we have set up an additional, single server installation of OSB.
What I've found is that even though I didn't install coherence at all on the single-server installation, the server logs show coherence errors indicating that the single-server installation is trying (but failing) to connect to the clustered installation. How do I turn coherence completely off for the single-server installation?

In order to make your different installation work in the same subnet you need to modify the Coherence cluster from using multicast to unicast. In order to change from multicast to unicast, modify the osb-coherence-override file located at $DM/config/osb/coherence/osb-coherence-override.xml to either have different multicast ip/port for different installations or include the WKA list (nodes that should form the particular cluster).

OSB installation fails

Hi,
I wanted to install OSB in silent mode, so I created response file. There you can choose if you want to install exmples, like here:
Install_OSB_Examples=true.
But when I set it to true, installation fails. Only when set to false, installation completes successfully.
Did anyone come across this issue?

OSB : Installation of Eclipse for OSB.. Is there a standalone Version?

Sorry for the fairly rudementary question, however after seaching around on the Oracle OSB Downloads site, i can't see an answer.
My question is essentially is there a standalone version of Eclipse with OSB plugins that can be utilised? By this I mean just install Eclsipse and extend with OSB design time plugins.
urrently the only approach I can see when using the IDE, it to install the WebLogic with OEPE (manually unzipping for 64 bit clients) and then installing the OSB Server into the Weblogic Server / OEPE. Therefore at present I cant see how this can be acheived without installing all the components (WLS, OSB Server).
FYI, the clients preference is to utilise the IDE as apposed to utilising the Web OSDN Console for development? (for a number of reasons I won't go into). They are utilising SOA Suite 11.1.1.5 with Feature Pack for BPM
I appreciate any comments or expeirences regarding this

Installation - OSB in 64bit windows 7

I have downloaded the OSB 11g and i need to install the weblogic 11g with coherance + OEPE, but i dont find a generic installer for 64 bit windows 7, how do i install OEPE in this?

To properly install OSB on windows 7 64 is not a walk in the park I found out, and I am still not there, but more about this later. So the steps I took are:
1. download + install 64 bit windows Java JDK (1.6.0_20)
2. downloaded and installed the generic installer weblogic + coherence (*without* OEPE unfortunately).
3. download 64 bit OEPE from http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/oepe/index.html. Unzipped it in a manually created directory oepe in the weblogic installation directory (C:\bea\oepe)
4. Install the OSB by running the setup.exe from the osb installer (Disk1). During the install you can now select your OEPE directory (C:\bea\oepe in my case).
5. Start the eclipse.exe. The OSB plugins will be put in you installments automatically during startup (dropins).
So I got this all working but I have one challenge left. I created a test domain and within eclipse I created a server (Oracle WebLogic Server 11gR1 PatchSet 2=10.3.3) so I could deploy projects onto this server. All went well. After this I created an OSB configuration project and an OSB project. When I tried to add this to the server I got the error Project Facet Oracle Service Bus Configuration 1.0.100 is not supported by this server This surprised me. The eclipse OSB plugins that were installed cannot create an OSB Configuration Project for the 10.3.3 version. So I cannot use eclipse to build project for the latest version. What is happening here?!? So to be continued unfortunately :-(

OSB 11.1.1.7 installer crashes on Windows XP

Hello everyone,
I'm trying to reinstall OSB 11.1.1.7 but the installer crashes with no errors. I've uninstalled everything possible related with Oracle in the PC, and reinstalled weblogic and oepe with success.
The OSB installer's path is C:\osb, the temp directory C:\Temp, and the jdk directory is C:\Development\Java6.
I've run the installer through cmd: setup.exe -jreLoc C:\Development\Java6 with no luck. I've even tried from C:\osb\Disk1\install\win32\setup.exe, but it crashed. Never shows up the installer's window.
The log doesn't seem to have any errors:

OSB 11.1.1.4 / OEPE 11.1.1.6 installation issue

I'm attempting to install OSB 11.1.1.4 on a Webcenter VirtualBox Linux appliance* (http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/webcenter/portal/downloads/owcs-portalfw-vbox-284132.html) and am experiencing a problem during installation.
1) Since the Weblogic 10.3.4 installation does not appear to have included OEPE, I downloaded oepe-galileo-all-in-one-11.1.1.6.0.201007221355-linux-gtk-x86_64.zip and extracted its contents to a folder [middleware_home]/oepe-11.1.1.6.
2) I extracted the contents of ofm_osb_generic_11.1.1.4.0_disk1_1of1.zip and ran runInstaller from the resulting Disk1 folder.
3) After I've provided the JRE path, the installer progresses, and I select the Custom install option with the OSB IDE and examples.
4) Prerequisite checks all pass, and at the Product Home Location, I browse to the directory where I extracted the OEPE files and select it. When i click Next, I receive the error "INST-07248: Specified OEPE home location is not a valid location."
There are lots of ways the home location could be "not valid", I suppose, but the installer is not forthcoming. Can anyone give a clearer idea what the OSB installer is looking for?
I've tried various things, including other versions of OEPE (I understand from other forum threads that OSB 11.1.1.4 and OEPE 11.1.1.6 go together), but nothing seems to make a difference. Any insight into what I'm doing wrong would be appreciated.
* "Why not use the BPM/SOA appliance?" you're probably thinking. The answer is that it doesn't include OSB. The installed software is 11.1.1.3, and OSB 11.1.1.3 is no longer available for download.

I followed your link and looked over the installation steps. Starting from Step 3, the only difference I noticed (aside from directory name differences) was that you had used the Helios all-in-one package instead of Galileo, as I had done. I thought I had read in some other forum posting that Helios was not compatible with 11.1.1.4, but downloaded oepe-helios-all-in-one-11.1.1.6.1.201010012100-linux-gtk.zip (32-bit version) and extracted it anyway.
This time, the OSB installer not only accepted the OEPE home directory but already had it filled in for me when I got to the dialog that required it. After that, the installer completed without mishap.
The answer to my issue appears to be to use the Helios all-in-one distribution with OSB 11.1.1.4, not Galileo.

Oepe 12.1.1.0.1 is not compatible with OSB (latest Version)

Im installing the latest version of both, WebLogic Server with OEPE 12.1.1.0.1 and OSB Generic 11.1.1.6.0 and when I installing the OSB and setting the location for the OEPE I just receive a message saying that this is not a correct version, so i wonder how oracle releases two new versions that are incompatible between themself. Im tryint to set up a local environment for self learning purpose and been stuck for days tryint to find a reasonable solution...

OEPE releases much more frequently than OSB, so you will find that to use OSB Eclipse plugins, you need a specific version of OEPE. Frequently, it isn't going to be the latest version. I am not familiar with the OSB installer. Does the installer error message not tell you what version of OEPE it is expecting? If it doesn't, you will need to ask on the OSB forum.

OSB plug-in is not coming with OEPE 11.1.1.8

I have installed OEPE 11.1.1.8 which is coming with Oracle WebLogic Server 11gR1 (10.3.6) + Coherence + OEPE - Package Installer:
oepe-wls-indigo-installer-11.1.1.8.0.201110211138-10.3.6-win32.exe
but I am not able to see any OSB prospective.Do I need to install plug-in for OSB seperately.
Please suggest.

There is no separate link for OSB plugins.
YOu will have to install oracle service bus 11.1.1.6 and when completing the wizard for OSB installation it will ask for the oepe location
At that point of time you can specify the oepe location you have specified.
Now the million dollar question is where is the version of OSB 11.1.1.6?
I also can not find it any where even in edelivery. So i assume that you might have to log a service request to get this version of code.
