OSB option on 11g

Hello there,
I've recently started with Oracle SOA suite 11g and I noticed that almost all documentation out there mentions the OSB which I've basically understood what was used for in the 10g.
As several tutorials walk trough steps that use this OSB (and are based on the 10g) I was wondering if the 11g hasn't got something analogue that has been integrated.

On a scale of 1 - 5 I would rate it as 4, fundamental but this really comes down to your use case.
If you are worried that OSB is not a product Oracle wants to take forward then don't. OSB is extremely important to Oracle's SOA story. OSB in the past year (18 Months) has release 2 new versions to implement the Oracle adapters.
It is taking time to move all the Oracle products to 11g, the latest release tends to be more the legacy Oracle products, whereas the BEA products as a little bit behind but they still use WLS as the platform. SOA Suite has been waiting nearly 2 years for this release so it was important to get it out ASAP. As OSB is not part of the composite then there was no real issue in not bringing OSB forward into 11g at that time.
Not sure what you mean my 11g being complete. 11g will always be evolving, Oracle has been quite open in saying the release is over an 18 month period where we will be introducing new features and products.

Is the latest OSB available as SCA Component in Jdeveloper ? If we want to develop services in OSB, should we use the browser or we have eclipse support for the latest release.
Looks like now we can use the same version of weblogic server 10.3.3 to host both SOA suite 11g 11.1.1.3 and Oracle Service Bus 11.1.1.3. I believe we need two different domains (1 for SOA Suite and another for Oracle Service Bus).
Kindly confirm.

Search option in 11g

Hi All,
In 11g, we have the search option. There are list of values like Action, Analysis, Agent, KPI, Filter...
I want to customise the list... remove some...
Can anyone guide me to which file i should be looking into.

Hi,
Try this-
Copy the complete default page javascript.
Right click on the dashboard page and view source.
Then if you search the list options in the search, you can find all the values. There you can customize the list values.
Now copy this javascript code and paste it in the separate text in the page and enable the HTML check box.
But remember this includes lots of trial and error method.

OSB business service on jdev 11g generated db adapter

Is it still possible to generate the db-adapter in jdev and import the resources in osb and create a business service with jca transport based on this wsdl?
the documentation is only describing how to it should work based on a 10.1.3 generated db adapter.
In the 11g the resources of the db-adapter are different (external jca property file etc).
So..whats the way to go for this when using the 11g stack ?

SOA suit 11g uses both ESB and OSB(ALSB)

Hi, I am newbie to SOA suit 11g. Can somebody please explain the use of ESB and OSB(ALSB) both in SOA 11g.In SOA 11g ESB is being used only for mediation.Even OSB(ALSB) has same capability.Then why both needs to be used?Can't we use one of these?

OSB 11g Proxy Server - Missing SSL Port Configuration

Hi,
We are currently upgrading from OSB 10g to 11g.
In 11g the SSL port for proxy servers ican no longer be configured.
In sbconsole - System Administration -> Proxy Servers -> Add

Note that the SSL configuration is also missing in Eclipse when using the Proxy Server Editor.

Weird... It looks like a bug to me... The SSL Port is still on the docs (see bellow)... But I couldn't find on SB Console nor OEPE though...

And as far as I can see the variable is still there... On SB Console, on System Administration click on Find & Replace... On the box "Find in variable type" chose "Proxy Server SSL Port" click on Find and you'll see that is still there (default value -1), and you can even do the replace if you want...

Does UCM 11g provide any default skinning options?

I have 2 questions basically:
1 )In UCM 10g there is an option to select skins IN My Profiles menu which provides 2 skin options, Oracle and Oracle2.. Is it possible in 10 G to create a website and use these two skins in your website to change menu, layout etc?
2) My actual area of work is to create a website in UCM 11g, i couldn't find any such option in 11 G which 10 G provided in My Profiles. Are there any default skins provided by 11G. How can I make use of these skins in my web application?
I found out that we can apply different kind of skins in 11g using ADF Faces. But that is not to be used in my project. Is it the only option in 11g?

OK I think you have confused two things here.
1)UCM ships with a native interface that is delivered by UCM based on HCSP/IDOC (A proprietary server side scripting language for generating HTML) this has been the case for about 10 years or so. THis native interface is used to provide the basic CMS capability and is oftent used as a simple clean front end for document management type deployments. UCM has very limited abilities to natively support personalisation (it does this by storing user settings on the file system) and one part of this is the ability to choose a layout and a skin. THe rendering of this profile is done via the HCSP/IDOC.
2)Since the Oracle acquisition of Stellent (~2007) there have been a number of productised ways to integrate UCM behind the Oracle ADF front ends of JDeveloper, WebCenter etc. The latest version of Site Studio lets you do just that using SSXA. I am not an ADF guru switiching between skins sounds perfeclty reasonable. BUT this has NOTHING to do with the old Oracle Oracle2 skins as far as I know.
I think you may be trying to run before you can walk really. First get to know UMC, Site Studio and ADF, then look at Site Studio SSXA and hopefully you will understand how/where skins can fit in.
Not trying to put you off but you have set quite a challenge to yourself

To have OEPE with the plugins for OSB you actually have to install Weblogic with OEPE and OSB. OEPE will need the libraries in Weblogic and OSB installation...

OSB to BPEL communication - Unable to find operation: null

I am trying to call sca composite deployed in Oracle EM 11g from OSB proxy service 11g.
But I am seeing "Unable to find operation: null" in the oracle SCA composite EM dashboard.
What could be the problem?

As you are able to test the Composite in the EM console and the correct operation, everything looks fine from SOA side.
Now whatever application from which you are trying to push the data, make sure while configuring the WSDL of the Composite, please check whether you can select the operation of the SOA Composite over there. I think you are leaving the default option which is null or not selecting the required operation over there.

11g and Coherence (pre-requisite?, included?)

We are planning to work with SOA Suite 11g for a mid scale project.
From the download's site it looks like Weblogic + Coherence "package" is a pre-requisite.
However we see licencing issues as we did not purchase any license for Coherence.
Is Coherence a Formal Pre-Requisite for SOA Suite 11g and/or OSB (service bus) 11g ?
Some people on forums suggest Coherence is "included" in SOA Suite. Would this be the case from the licensing point of view (i.e. licence for SOA Suite / OSB gives us the right to use Coherence without paying separately ?
Last not least, can we install SOA Suite with Weblogic only (no Coherence), even if the download page indicates we should have the Weblogic + Coherence package in place ?

1. I am not much familiar with Coherence License stuff. As far as I know, Coherence is used for Caching Framework and is part of the Weblogic Server and it may not have anything to do with SOA Stuff. BUT incase if internally SOA files uses Coherence APIs for Caching, then you may need this component also installed.
2. YES, you can install WLS without coherence. Even though your installer has WLS + Coherence, at the time of installation of WLS, choose the option like Custom (instead of default Typical). In the following screens, you can UnCheck the boxes for Coherence (and its samples). So you get only WLS installed. On top of this install SOA. Create a SOA Domain. Start admin and soa servers. If they start fine without any errors referring coherence APIs, then you are good to go.

How to Create Inline Table to Display Detail Data in a Master Table in 11g?

I have a requirement to create inline table inside master table to show data.

Also, I tried creating the Page as below (Departments -Employees Relation). i.e I have tried using the ADF treeModel in the bindings and then created a table/inline table manually to populate. The data is available in the iterators (i found using sops in back bean), but the inline table is not showing any data. I tried enabling PPR on detail based on master. But no luck.

After reading the above links end-to-end twice, I'm finally able to establish the relationship in UI. I've used iterator for my specific purpose, although it can be done using a table/forEach.
1) Create VOs for Dept and Emp, i.e. DeptVO and EmpVO.
2) Then a View Link on deptID, i.e DeptEmpVL
3) Drag and drop the Dept as AdfTreeTable, b'coz it will create the treeBinding and also add the emp accessor by selecting it in the binding window. (refer to above doc links from BaiG)
4) In my Page UI, i've created a new table and an iterator in the detailStamp.
Dept Table ->
o Value = #{bindings.Departments1.treeModel}
o Var = dept
o varStaus = deptVarStatus
Add these:
Column1-> OutputText -> #{dept.DepartmentId}
Column2-> OutputText -> #{dept.DepartmentName}
Insert into TableFacets -> detailStamp -> iterator
Iterator ->
o Value = #{dept.children}
o Var = emp
o varStatus = empVarStatus
Add these:
OutputText -> #{emp.EmployeeId}
OutputText -> #{emp.EmployeeName}
OutputText -> #{emp.Salary}
This iterator/forEach comes in handy for having n Number of regions inside a layout.

Handling Special characters in OSB

Hi All,
We are using OSB with weblogic 11g in our Project. We found a strange behavior while fetching the data from DB using DB adapter.
For few records in DB, we are having & and few other special characters. While fetching the data:
•     If the content length is greater than “38” for a particular field which contains special characters, we are able to process it successfully (Data Comes as “&” for “&” in XML from DB)
•     If content length is less than “38”, “&” appears same without “amp;”
Please let me know if anyone have faced a similar issue. We would like to have "&" or "&", Only one and not both irrespective of the content length.

When i mean OSB, it is ALSB which was aquired by oracle and named as OSB.
We have two records in Data base with '&'. when we picked both the records using DB adapter, one records is coming with "&" and other with "&".
To identify the issue in more detail, we tried to increase the length of the record by adding some extra normal characters and tested thoroughtly. At one point exactly when the length is >= 38, we found the records coming with "&". Similar behavior was observed in differnt DB's.
Sample Data:

Not sure if this requires any weblogic level configurations/ or any other adapter level configurations so that data comes with "&"
