OSD SCCM 2012 R2: Dart on bitlockered machine

Hi,
Please advise on implementing dart on SCCM 2012 R2 task sequence on bitlcokered machines.
Have to start from scratch (working task sequence with bitlocker though).

Hi,
Using Dart as boot image is just like the other boot images. See the steps below to add a Dart into SCCM. Please notice my first post, you need to disable Bitlocker before booting into any PE to do an OSD.

  • OSD: SCCM 2012 collection which should exclude Windows 7 clients (query not working fine)

    Hi,
We have an SCCM 2012 collection to which we deploy Windows 7.
Vista clients get a SCCM 2012 client in SCCM 2007 and once they have it, they get a Windows 7 deployment.
The group is populated by an AD query and that works fine. However, when we try to exclude Windows 7 machines (query = not Windows NT ... 6.1) the query does not return any result.
    Please advise.
    J.
    Jan Hoedt

Please check your query. It should be like the following.
    select SMS_R_SYSTEM.ResourceID,SMS_R_SYSTEM.ResourceType,SMS_R_SYSTEM.Name,SMS_R_SYSTEM.SMSUniqueIdentifier,SMS_R_SYSTEM.ResourceDomainORWorkgroup,SMS_R_SYSTEM.Client from SMS_R_System inner join SMS_G_System_OPERATING_SYSTEM on SMS_G_System_OPERATING_SYSTEM.ResourceId = SMS_R_System.ResourceId where SMS_G_System_OPERATING_SYSTEM.Version != "6.1.7601"

  • SCCM 2012 PXE issues with Acer Machines?

    Hi,
I am having a strange issue with PXE trying to build a machine with a Windows 7 Task Sequence.
Ok here is the synario - I have 2 machines that do not get any offers from PXE - so I get that error No DHCP
or proxy DHCP offers were received. However if I make a bootable USB key and boot the *same* machines my
task sequence appears on the menu that I can select. (The task sequence is deployed to PXE and Media BTW).
Now it gets strange - if I take other machines and put the on the same network cable and F12 them PXE works
and I get the task sequence presented. So same PXE server - same DHCP server.
So from my logic I figure if I had a policy type problem then it would not present the task sequence when
    I try the boot usb.
Both the machines I am having issues with are ACER btw if people know of any know issues. I am starting
to suspect I have faulty hardware etc. One machine is a Acer Travelmate P633-V Laptop and the other machine is
    Acer Veriton VS6620G desktop.
Any suggestions on how to resolve this - it seem very strange.
My environment is SCCM 2012 SP1 btw.
Is there something I am missing here :)
    Thanks,
    Ward.

    Hi,
Thanks for all the sugestions. I can confirm that the machines
when an OS is on them do register the IP addresses with the DHCP/WDS server (same box). Also I can confirm the Unknown computer support is turned on the box in SCCM 2012 on the DP.
Ok but I did get one working which I can't explain why it works
    the way it does.
On the notebook if I enable secure boot (UEFI) and boot with PXE
it works :) It appears the stupid BIOS turns this on but disables
another setting called "Network Boot" which is crazy. So if
you turn both on Secure boot enabled and "Network Boot" is on it works.
Now here is the puzzle that still stumps me - switch this back to
legacy mode and no go - no PXE. Boot other non UEFI machines and
    they PXE boot.
The WDS/DHCP/SCCM DP server is Windows 2008 (all on one box) as I understand it does not support UEFI PXE - this is in Windows 2012. I don't think there is an option in SCCM 2012 for it.
So can somebody offer me a technical explination?
Is there something else I am missing?
I still am trying to work out how to get the desktop to UEFI PXE boot if this is possible.
    Thanks,
    Ward

  • Strange problem - app install failed randomly - OSD SCCM 2012 R2

    Hi,
We have this problem for a few weeks and despite various test the problem persists. I hope the community can help me on this problem.
Problem : During TS New computer Win 7 x64 or X86 OSD, app failed to install randomly. Some example
: on the same model, morning OSD test, all app located on TS will be installed, then test the afternoon and no application is here. Sometimes, it works during 4 days and after doesn't work during 1 week / 2 day, it's very randomly. Problem is here for all
    models.
    Test made :
Add reboot step in TS just before install app > Not ok
Change deployment option app TS to : "Download content and run locally" > Not ok
Add following properties to the client agent in TS : SMSMP=SCCMSRV.domain.lan DNSSUFIX=Domain.lan > Not ok
Enable anonymous mode > Not ok
    Informations :
App concerned : Adobe flash, google chrome etc...
    Domain integration : OK
App installation tested across software center : OK
Account service for distribution app : OK
Some errors that i've notice :
    Policy Evaluation failed, hr=0x80004005 (smsts.log)
Install application failed: 'Adobe Shockware Player'. Error Code 0x80004005 InstallApplication
    (smsts.log)
Policy prevents failover to WINS for lookup (LocationServices.log)
Error sending HEAD request. HTTP code 401, status 'Unauthorized' (LocationServices.log)
    No error in AppEnforce.log
Do you have an idea ? Thank you in advance.

Finally the pause Works and all app was installed after 8 test on different models.
For my case I following this order :
    - 1 Before install app: Put a pause (3m) with this script
    Set fso = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")
    Wscript.Sleep 180000
    And this command line : %SYSTEMROOT%\System32\wscript.exe Pause_TS_3m.vbs
    - 2 Then put a pause ( about 30s) before each app with a run command line ping :
    cmd.exe /c "ping -n 30 localhost" > NUL
    As Damon
    A. Johns say "At the very least it can result in unreliable results."
Well I hope i'll find a reliable solution, thanks a lot all for help me it was a long time to test.

  • OSD SCCM 2012 R2: 1 logfile per deploy?

    Hi,
I followed this guide to have central logfiles for OS deploy:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/newthread?category=systemcenter2012configurationmanager&forum=configmanagerosd
    This created a folder with smsts.log, smsts-dateofdeploy.log and wpeinit.log.
    My questions:
    1.I probably don't need wpeinit.log(?)
    2.what's the difference between smsts-dateofdeploy.log and smsts.log?
3.can I use the smsts-dateofdeploy.log through the whole task sequence as reference log?
That would mean I' d use this command cmd.exe /c copy %_smstslogpath%\smsts-*.log L:\SuccessFull\%_smstsmachinename% to gather the logfile
and that option (3.) would be the solution for me?
    Please advise.

    Hi,
The link you provided doesn't work.
    1. no..
    2. Without the link I assume that SMSTS.log is the last part of the SMSTS.log file and that the SMTS+date.log file is that the SMSTS.log that was cycled due to the log file limitation.
    3. Normally you would not have the whole OS deployment is those two logfiles as the logfiles are cycled. Here is a great post on how the extend it.

  • Skype for Business in OSD SCCM 2012?

I really wish folks would create their programs better. I have provisions to protect against the Crypto virus and the Skype for Business plugin has many little things it wants to run under the User Profile.
    /sigh

Hi everyone,I am an IT Support Tech (helpdesk/desktop support) at my current employer, but I've extended my duties into working with SCCM 20012 R2 for a bit, mainly because we had no one doing anything with it (they had a consulting company come in and create some images and set it up), and I am extremely interested in System Center in general. My experience isn't all that much, I sort of just jumped in and got my feet wet because it was needed. We had 0 Windows updates on any computers going out to users, so I definitely saw this as a big problem, implemented updates in all of the images, and am working on getting all deployed computers updated (some departments are extremely sensitive to "leave your laptop overnight please").Anywho, to my question.I know that right now, Skype for Business is a Lync 2013 upgrade. Is there anyway for...

    Hi,
I have this application in a simple task sequence which fails to install (error 0x80004005).
The application itself installs correctly in a windows session. It has "Allow this application to be installad from the Install Application task sequene ..." enabled.

  • How to find in SCCM 2012, Which(sccm admin) deployed Application on machines.

    Hi,
Looking log files, to find who(sccm 2012 admin) deployed applications on machines.
Deployment has been deleted from console, However in database it is shwoing number of machines having with particular application.
Some sccm 2012 admin deployed application on machines by mistake, how to check from server or client logs, who(sccm admin) deployed application on machines.
Please let me, if anyone know about this.

Likely would want to run the "Deployments Created, Modified, or Deleted" status message query ":-)

Wally is right but watch out for these status message, I have not check in CM12 yet but in CM07 just open and click "ok" to close the package/ advert/ etc. would create a status message saying it was modified.

  • Adobe Creative Cloud Enterprise Deployment Issues using SCCM 2012 R2

    Hi,
I have been trying to deploy Adobe Creative Cloud Enterprise to Windows 8.1 machines that are identical, using SCCM 2012 R2.
The Adobe package seems fine, because it seems to deploy successfully to some machines. And SCCM 2012 R2 has been configured correctly, as I can deploy other software using it, and again, it deploys Adobe CC successfully to some of the machines.
I have tried comparing the package that is downloaded on the test machine/client machine, with the original package on the distribution point, using Beyond Compare, and there are no differences.
I have contacted Adobe Enterprise Support, and they asked me to send to them log files from Event Viewer, the msi installer, and other Adobe logs, from the machine that failed the deployment. However, after Adobe studying them, they told me that they could not identify any problems... Strange, because I could have sworn that I saw error 1603 pop up over 20 times on different machines indicating that the 'Set-up.dat' file had a problem with it.
After all the testing on over 20 identical machines (same hardware/same software), using different configurations on SCCM 2012 R2 and the client machines, I still can't seem to have a reliable solution to deploying Adobe CC.
The fact that it deploys successfully on one machine and fails on another, or sometimes deploy to two machines and fail on another (simultaneously), is something that I don't understand.
Another thing is that, if I retry the deployment 10-15 times after it failed the first time, it might go through...
Adobe Enterprise Support asked me if they could remote into a machine that failed the deployment to have a look at it and I agreed to that option, but it seems like my issue has been ignored because they never got back to me.
Has anyone had this kind of problem or anything similar before?
I need to be able to deploy this remotely to 100+ machines. So installing manually is not an option.
    Any help is appreciated.

    Hi Robert,
We seem to be having a very similar issue.  Our installs would randomly fail with error code 1603 and an error message about a fault in Set-up.dat.  Failure rate was near 95% on our 900 machines.  Adobe Support and Karl having been looking into our issues but so far no solution has been found.
Having done a lot of investigating we've managed to deploy our package using a schedule task running as a domain admin.  This is a nasty solution and we don't intend on using this permanently, but we needed to get the package out.

  • Client Install Issue - SCCM 2012 R2 - Manual Deploy Installed ok

Hello, I have sccm 2012 configured with 2,000 machine approx. It is been used mainly as a Software Deployment tool for now. On checking a recent IE10 upgrade, I noticed that there is a number of machines that do not have the client installed (and thus did
not upgrade IE). I picked 1 machine, searched in SCCM - had no client. I checked all relevant settings:
Boundary for Client in question - ok
Local Client Settings (ip,dns,no firewall, ping sccm ok and vice versa etc).
Once i right clicked to deploy the client, it installed no problem. I checked the ccmsetup log file and the only info it had was from the time that the client was manually deployed (I will attach the log below anyway). I am really puzzled as to why the client
did not install and if this is the issue why IE is not upgrading (it is hard to pinpoint as there are 250 sites approx). The automatic install task works no problem on other machines once the machine goes online.
Any help, would be great. Here is the log (I am fairly new to SCCM btw):

  • SCCM 2012 Multiple Domains with a single SCCM instance

    Hello:
Can SCCM 2012 be deployed to multiple untrusted domains within a single install?
I work for a company that maintains multiple client networks all Windows Domain and non are trusted / or are even aware of the other sites.
I would like to setup a SCCM 2012 (and also a Virtual Machine Manager for HyperV) at my office and manage all my different client sites from the single SCCM server.
The connection would be from my office over the Internet in through their on prem firewall
Currently we use Centra Stage and have used Kaseya in the past. I am looking to move from them and focus on SCCM to do this for me.
Is this even possible to do with the product?
    Thanks in Advance!
    -David

Yes, ConfigMgr can manage (un)trusted forests, but what exactly do you mean with "not aware of the other sites"? A requirement is that name resolution and a connection is possible.
For some good scenario's see also this series:

  • SCCM 2012 Upgradation

    Hi All,
I have a SCCM 2012 RTM environment with 500 clients (desktop). I would like to format the server and install SCCM 2012 R2 on the same machine with same site code.
Kindly help me with the things to be taken care.
            01. Will it work fine
    02. How do i upgrade my Clients
    03. what are all the things to be taken care here.
Note: I'm using it only for Software update Point

My OS version is Windows Server 2008, So I believe I'm not left with any other option. So i will format the machine the will give the same computer Name and Site COde.
As suggested Torsten, I have to delete the System Management Container and recreate it, correct me if I'm wrong?
One more Query, Can we configure Auto patch deployment in SCCM? Say whenever any new patch is avail it should auto approved(will enable the setting in WSUS), it should deployed to all clients(I have created single collection) ?
You do not need to delete the container, just fix the permissions.
Don't reuse the site code unless you are restoring from backup. This will break things.

  • M93z SCCM 2012 R2 W7

    Hi All,
I am having issue when I try to deploy an image with SCCM 2012 R2 on newly M93z machine. I downloaded SCCM package for M93z from http://download.lenovo.com/express/sccm.html  and imported it into SCCM. I keep getting Black screen with driver "ifp63x64.sys" error. Anybody has same issue and able to fix it?
    Thanks in advance.
    hsusanto

There are M93z drivers in the package at the link previously provided.  Try that pack.
In the future though expect that the driver packages for the All-In-One systems will likely be kept separate from the SFF, Tower, and Tiny packages.  This will be the case if there is a common component whose driver is a newer version and was only qualified on the AIO platform and not the others.  It may be compatible in the AIO but not the others and with the driver packs there's no way to prevent it from being installed on the unqualified systems.
