OSDB MIGRATION R3SETUP- DBMIG.R3S

Hello,
I am doing Migration from SUNIX os Oracle 7 to Aix 5.3 and Oracle 91. My R3SETUP terminates on R3load process for SAPAPPL01.STR with the error log Table BKPF unable to access last block of the table. I had found the reason for the problem the reason was I had not mounted the file system /oracle/F01/sapdata14 and sapdata11 which holds the respective data files for this Tablespace.
I have adaded this file system and also mounted but my R3SETUP is still not able to access the desire location. Do I need to adopt the DBMIG.R3S files for getting the R3SETUP knows the newly added sapdata file systems..?
Thanks and regards,
Bhushan

It depends of version of SAP kernel and R3load.
Since you had a funny situation with missing 2 FS, whole situation is strange.
Without them you should not be able to even start export.
I suggest to re-start whole process from step # 1.

  • Oracle Rac as part of OSDB Migration

    Hello Gurus,
We are going ahead with OSDB Migration from HP-UX to Linux. Here as HA solution, we plan to implement Oracle RAC on the target systems. Where as the current environment is non RAC.
As part of OSDB migration we are not confident in doing it on Oracle RAC.  Documentation for Oracle RAC on SAP explains first go for single instance installation on oracle cluster filesystem and implement RAC as a high availability solution with SAP Enqueue Replication service. Then do the backup and restore process from non RAC system to RAC.
But in our scenario we should go for EXPORT/ IMPORT process.
Please guide us in going ahead with the right approach.

This is not an antagonism, you can do a single instance installation by doing the import. Basically an "import" is a new installation with the export you've done before.

SDN ?
    Source-System: ECC 6.0, Nonunicode, Oracle, HP-UX(Itanium)
    Target-system:  ECC 6.0, Unicode, DB2, Linux auf VM(Intel-based)
    Danke für Eure Antwort(en)

    Dear Roland,
I am answering in English since this is the language used in this forum.
It is supported (and also recommended) to do a Unicode conversion and an OS/DB migration at the same time.
If you have a look at the system copy guide (to be used for the migration), you will see that Unicode in the target release is always an option.
Also have a look at SAP note 1322715 point 28.

  • Sap osdb migration

    Hi,
I am unable to find the required osdb migration guide in www.service.sap.com/osdbmigration,   can anybody help where can i found the required osdb migration guides.

    Hello there,
What is the product? The guide could be at http://service.sap.com/instguides. What you are doing could also be considered an heterogeneous system copy.

  • OSDB migration BW3.1

    Hi All,
We are planning to perform a OSDB migration of a BW3.1 system. The database is quit large.... Are there any tips an tricks to speed up the export and import process. Perhaps it is possible to clean up the source system before the export starts.... For instance is it possible to delete the PSA and ODS info before starting the export
    cheers

    hello,
I've found a note that explains one should install WAS 640 with BW 3.1.

  • OSDB migration and R3SETUP to support Oracle 10g

    Hi All,
    I have a SAP 46C with kernel 46D_EXT on AIX 5.3 with Oracle 10g.
I want to do an heterogeneous system copy but the R3Setup that i have can only support Oracle up to 9.2.0.8.
Do you have any idea for me in order to do my export ?
    regards.

    Hi,
you may not use any installation CD for R3setup.
There is a special Download Archive to install 4.6C with 10g
    46CSR2_7-10002583.SAR Installation Oracle 10.2.0
You can find it in the kernel PATCH (Not installation) section.
You might require additional CDs from the Installation Section,
but the R3setup has to be used from this extracted archive!
And the corresponding *.R3S files must be from this archive as well.
(which would be dbexport.r3s in your case

  • OS DB migration R3SETUP -f DBEXPORT.R3S export : slow R3load process

    Hi,
we're dealing with an 40 B system for ehp5 upgrade, but before,
we have to migrate OS from SunOS (Solaris 5.9) 4092M - 2 CPUS to Linux (Suse SLES9).
    the system is  : Solaris 9 -  SAP release 40 B -  database : 650Go - Oracle 9.2.0.7
the last 2 export process last since 24hours, it is very slow
(the firts 13 ended in 12hours)
we have checked different note 936441(Oracle setting for R3load), we don't use splitting (migmon)
but how could we improve it?
it seems lasting hours for just exporting  a 3 go table?
    Thanks for help.
    Phetsada

    Hi,
In the MIGMON.SAR archive you can find the Users Guide - MigrationMonitor.pdf.
    Read the section:
    Versions before WebAS 6.40 (R3E 4.7 SR1 and Previous)

So assuming that you have not read the documentation (which you really should):
    - You need to create a separate directory on the NFS where both systems have access
    - you need to configure the export machine as "server" (read the docs!)
    - you need to configure the exchange directory on both export and import migmon

now i am planing to do the migration for CRM 5.0 system from Solaris-DB2 to AIX-DB2.
i have the following . please update me
do i know need order extra tools for migration other then current version software. current version kernal have all programs reqired for migration right?. do we need to ask  SAP to send any kind of software.
as i know i can use the SAPINST from there it call all tools.
please advice me as soon as possible.
    Thank you

    Hi Vswanadha,
    1. Do we can Split the stacks at the same time while doing OS Migration? ( and Splitting Stacks will going keep into Different hosts)
Technically this is possible, but I don't know if it is supported by the standard way of a heterogeneous system copy.
    2. If we split the Stacks into different hosts then do we have any problems in CRM system
No, you shouldn't. Check the following link for this. Only for PI and MI systems, a dual stack is mandatory.
    http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/index?rid=/library/uuid/d074d7de-8d55-2b10-1e94-fb2e9d2893d1
    3. If we get any issues then SAP will support and do you have any SAP recommended documents to separate the ABA and JAVA Stacks or SAP will not Support?
If the configuration and the way to get it is supported by SAP, you don't have any problems. So the seperation of the CRM stack is supported, however I don't know if it can be done in one step during your heterogeneous system copy. You might have to copy your system twice, so copy the dual stack system twice and remove the ABAP stack on the one site and the java stack on the other site afterwards.
    4. Do we can do database upgrade While doing the OS migration (like export DB2 8.2(sun) to import DB2 9.5(AIX)) and if yes Is advisable to do like that?
I know this can be done for Oracle (homogeneous system copy), so I can imagine that it is possible for DB2 as well. Since I don't have DB2 knowledge, I cannot answer this question regarding this subject.
Before you can start your migration, you have to fill in a questionnaire at SAP. If you mention your strategy above you know directly if it is supported by SAP.
You can also buy some remote consulting hours at SAP for all your questions.

  • Migrating from Solaris to AIX

    Hi
We are planning to migrate from Solaris to AIX. What document will help me to follow?
If possible send me exact link.
Our current environment is R/3 4.6c, Oracle 9.2.3 and Solaris 5.9
Please let me know as quickly as possible.
    Thank-you

    > We are planning to migrate from Solaris to AIX. What document will help me to follow?
    Start with
    http://service.sap.com/osdbmigration
    --> FAQ
where you will see, that you need a certified migration consultant on-site to do that migration.
    > Our current environment is R/3 4.6c, Oracle 9.2.3 and Solaris 5.9
since that version is out of support for a long time there are no more official migration guides available, that must be covered by consulting. Technically it will be done by R3SETUP with DBMIG.R3S as parameter file.

  • Urgent Help in Migration of 3.1I system

    Hello,
I am in Data Import step running with R3SETUP -f DBMIG.R3S. My R3load process was ending with error after 80% of Installation and I have by mistake deleated all SAP*.logs and I am in big trouble now I am starting my R3SETUP again it is giving me error for all "ORA-00955: name is already used by an existing object" for all the STR files.
It is not possible for me to drop each and every table manually by drop statement.
If any other options available in this sitution please let me knwo ASAP.
    Thanks in Advance

Okay, I see. The supported migration path from Reports 2.5 to 9i, is to first migrate to 6i & then to 9i/10g.
    Please check this Metalink Note 90026.1 "Migrating Reports V2.5 --> V3.0 --> V6.0"
You might also be able to use rwconverter (in 6i I think the binary is called rwconv60) instead if Reports Builder:
    rwconverter userid=scott/tiger@oracle batch=yes
    source=<reportname> stype=rdffile DTYPE=REPFILE OVERWRITE=yes logfile=log.txt overwrite=yes
You can write a batch-file to convert all of your 350 Reports.

  • 46C Migration Oracle/HP-UX to MAXDB/SLE10 error: Duplicate value QCMT066

To migrate a productive system from 46C to ECC600 I got an system copy export from our business partner.
The source system is running on HPUX/Oracle. The target system should be MAXDB/SLE10.
I run the import with R3setup and got error: Duplicate value QCMT066.
To try to continue the import I set in DBMIG.R3S:
    [DBR3LOADEXEC_IND_ADA]
    from STATUS=ERROR to STATUS=OK
    [DBR3LOADVIEW_IND_ADA]
    from STATUS=ERROR to STATUS=OK
    [DBR3LICENSECREATE_IND_ADA]
    STATUS=ERROR to STATUS=OK
    [DBR3START_IND_ADA]
    from STATUS=ERROR to STATUS=OK
Tthe system is coming up, but get: in SAPGUI: GEN_TABLE_NOT_EXISTS .. Table VSEOPARENT does not exist.
I believe that I have to run the import again. How can I solve the duplicate value QCMT066 problem?
Edited by: Trieu Chi Phung on Aug 4, 2009 4:01 PM

    Answer of SAP:
Did you skip the error? because there errors in both SAPVIEW.log and
    SAPAPPL1.log
The SAPVIEW is having error because the table VBKD was not imported yet, and this table belongs to package SAPAPPL1, so, you have to finish
import the SAPAPPL1 in the first place.
You have the error "Duplicate key in index" for table QCMT066
One of the most important things to do before a migration starts is to
look at the consistency between Database and ABAP DDIC (/DB02 > checks>
button Database<> ABAP/4 DDIC) and to look after QCM-Tables from pre-
viously failed table-conversions These temporary objects are used duringconversion (see attached note # 9385 this note is for 3.0F but explains
    the situation).
I would like you to proceed as follows:
    1. In the source-system check SE14 > Extras > Invalid Temp.
Tables and remove all entries from there
    2. Switch to use sidadm create a new temp-directory and run 'R3ldct
    without any parameters
    3. Check the STR-files created and grep for entries starting with
    QCM
    4. For those objects use function module 'DD_NAMETAB_DELETE' and
    remove them from the nametab
    5. repeat the export from scratch
If you want a workaround on this, you can modify the <package>.STR file
and remove the entry QCMT066 and restart the import to continue.
However, this maybe tedious if you and lots of this kind of object.

  • Migrating Windows platform to Unix R3 release 4.6C

Can folks share what their experience has been with this type of migration. Our company has a highly customized R3 environment with a very large DB and a large connected landscape of standard ALE and non standard file transfer in and out and are about to embark on migration to Unix from Windows.
This is a box slated for retirement and eventual migration to a new box. We do not want to upgrade 4.6 to ERP2005 for example with the complexity we have already created
There is very little written on migrating from Unix to Windows and the pitfalls that i can find and so I am looking for real life experiences on issues and resolution to assist in our planning effort.
Thanks in advance for this information.

-> you will need sap onboard, meaning you'll have to order the <b>migration check/service</b> - otherwise the target platform will no longer be supported by sap
-> you will need a <b>certified heterogeneous system copy consultant</b> who will perform the actual steps (or at least sign them...)
-> as you will stay on 46C you must have <b>extended support ordered</b> - otherwise no support from sap
-> have a look at sapnet, alias OSDBMIGRATION
<u>the procedure is roughly as follows:</u>
    a) order dbosmigration check/service and migration key(s)
    b) set up your target box (win2k3, 64bit etc.) according to instguide
    c) get instguide 46C <b>and</b> homogeneous/heterogeneous system copy guide + relevant notes (557255 & 578004 are very important!)
    d) install r3setup on source box, export database using r3setup and template dbexport.r3s
    e) transfer export data to target host (using ftp for example)
    f) install rdbms (if you're on oracle or db2; sapdb will be installed while setting up database instance)
    g) install central instance using r3setup and template central.r3s
    h) install database instance using r3setup and template dbmig.r3s
    i) perform post installation activities
if you're on oracle you might think about "upgrading", for example from 9.2 to 10.2...an export done under oracle 9.2 can be imported under 10.2 if the database export was done using sap export routines such as r3setup...

  • Hardware Migration from one server to another server

    Hi All,
We require more information pertaining to hardware migration from one server to another server without changing OS & DB.
We are preparing installation guideline document for the same.
Has anybody came across similar scenario?.
Any pointers on this will be highly appreciated.
    Regards
    Tushar Vhora

usually you don't have to care too much about the tools used (r3ldctl = R3load control | r3szchk = R3 size checker | r3load = R3 Load), because you normally use r3setup/sapinst to fulfill the copy/migration. r3setup/sapinst will call the appropriate tools with the needed options...
-> which release are we talking about?
-> which os and which database do you use?
-> how big is your source database?
-> do you have any time issues while making the copy?
