OSM v7.2 - More that 1 instance in a non clustered environment

I am just wondering...
1) Can i install OSM separately on 2 servers while using the same database instance in a non-clustered manner?
This is for circumstances where I need a dedicated server resource for bulk provisioning for example.
2) If I am not using AIA in my implementation, how does COM calls a SOM cartridge and how does SOM reply COM on the completed status?
Is it via some default provided webservice, or do i need to find a way to implement it myself.

1. Though technically it is feasible to use two OSM instances with same database, it is not suggested as it may lead to locking issues and not sure how you are planning to acheive bulk provisioning by this way
2. The calling of SOM cartridge by COM and status updates of SOM to COM has to be implemented by yourself if you are not using AIA. You can make use of default webservices proivded by OSM

I have a 8 core with 16g of ram is use final cut, and imovie ( sometimes) when I'm finished with a project I use compressor to output. Using Qmaster with 8 instances selected, My cp monitor runs at only 50% on all... I have look in this and other forums but have found noting definitive about hoe to correct this. Your questions are very good ones indeed. So, I think you and other Mac users with CPU demanding tasks to process deserve some answers.
Yes, it is a software design issue. An application, running only a single process, cannot utilize more than one CPU. It needs to divide its job into several chunks and start new processes for each sub-task. The operating system can then schedule CPU cycles to each and every process, many of them in paralell (concurrently) using all the cores available. This is not done by itself, though, the application must be designed and written with great care in order to use all cores efficiently.
As Martin Pace correctly observed, BitVice will use all your 8 cores, unless you tell it to use "Low Priority". That is because it was designed to spawn as many processes as needed, for ultimate CPU usage, depending on how much CPU power is available at the time of excecution. The result is that, as long as your disk system is fast enough, all your cores may (will) get maxed out. This does not mean that everything else stops, though, because all other processes running on the system will get their fair share of CPU time. The bottom line is that BitVice is so carefully written that it will be able to utilize all the surplus CPU cycles, from every core, that none of other processes have any demand for. You can run as many applications as you like, at the same time. At least if they are behaving nearly as responsible as you can expect from applications that you paid good money for.

However, when you rather want to save electric energy, instead of time, you can of course choose a lower priority setting in BitVice, so that most of the CPUs (cores) will be idling, thinking there is nothing more around worthwhile spending CPU cycles on. The lowest priority will inhibit any parallel computing at all.

It appears the 15" 2.2 ghz isn't worth spending $400 more for, but you get the 1GB Radeon 6750M that has four times the VRAM than the 15" 2.0Ghz model and about 167% more performance. High settings on all current games with over 50 fps.
If your not into 3D gaming or just light weight, then the 2.0 Ghz (last years performance) will suffice on low-medium settings at about 30 fps.
The 13" is rather poor as it has integrated graphics. 30 fps on only some games.
The high res screen is a excellent choice and the anti-glare is great for viewing just about anywhere.
No messy films to replace at $30-$40 a pop.
A lot of people bring the glossy screens back once they hear about the anti-glare.

In my opinion the extra $400 for another 2-3 years of use out of the computer is worth it.
Quad cores are more than enough for most uses for most people for many years, it's just a slow card is going to make the machine feel slow in rendering graphics in the future.

Hi,
When you are in billing document & click on "issue output to", you get a window having tab"print options"
click on this by selecting your output type. In the feild "Number of messages" you enter how many times you want the print to be printed.
This will help you.
Additionally you can also write logic in your print program if you want the print to be fired some fixed number of times. (eg 4 times), this can be done by your ABAPer.

Coming to the question, a deliery can be created more than the ordered quantity. And if you pick whats delivered - that can show as confirmed too..
Standard SAP just throws a warning indicating this over delivery. And incase you want to prevent this happening - you can trigger an user exit to change this warning to error.
Config is also possbile if you have setup your cust mat info record or sales order to check over delivery and set the item cateogry for delivery. You can go to t.code 0VLP( Zero VLP) select Over Delivery - 'B' for delivery item category.

One server with DAM and more CQ instances

do you know if is possible to have one server with DAM and 3 server (Author/Publish) with CQ5 (CRX)? Is possible connect these three servers to one DAM? We have CQ5.5... Thank you for information.

First, I assume you are calling it a "server" but you really mean two separate servers for each of 1 - 4 (one author instance, and one publish instance). Is that correct?
For #3, you called it a "testing" server. What are you testing? Code? If so, you'll want to have a testing instance that matches each instance you have. Your "website" instances should have a testing server that matches the production environment. The "intranet" and "other apps" ones should as well. You wouldn't want to test all of those things on one instance, then separate them out in production. A production environment that does not match the testing environment is a recipe for disaster. I also wouldn't try to "migrate" content (DAM assets included) like you do code. Preload test environments with test content that closely mirror production, but you don't necessarilly need to be exact. This is especially true of heavy DAM assets. Just load a subset of videos/images/etc. on testing environments. It's not necessary to sync this with production.
Since #1 and #4 are both in the DMZ, I would use the same instance for both of these scenarios. Do you have a compelling reason to completely separate them? If you combine them, they share a DAM and the problem is solved.
For #2, how are you planning to integrate a non-DMZ instance with the others in the DMZ? This strikes me as a problem.

I haven't tried this yet, but can you sync photos on your iPad with more that 1 computer (PC or Mac)? I have a Macbook and a iMac and would like to sync photos between my them and my iPad. Will this work without losing photos on any of the devices?

How do you add an image to the Light Table more that once

The Long/Luna book says this is possible. In the browser there is a red number in the corner of my images showing "1". Both of these things suggest that adding an image more that once is possible but I can't figure out how to do it.

I checked this further. Long/Luna say that you can add an image to a Light Table more than once on p266 of that book. Although they don't say how to do so.
Bagleturf's tutorial about the Light Table say's that's not possible.
