Ospf forwarding address for external routes

I read this in a document:
"When OSPF learns an external LSA, it makes sure that the forwarding address is known
through an OSPF intra-area or interarea route before it installs it into the routing table. If the
forwarding address is not known through an intra-area or interarea route, OSPF will not install
the route in the routing table."
I am trying to understand from where this requirement comes from? Why OSPF will not install the route in the routing table if the forwarding address is known via ospf external route?

Hi,
the originating router sets the FA to a non-zero IP-address only when certain conditions are met:
The interface pointing to the next-hop IP of the external route
has to be OSPF-enabled (non-passive)
AND
has to be a multiacces-interface (network type broadcast or non-broadcast)
So if there is no OSPF interal route to reach the FA on other routers, someting went wrong and it's safer not to install the route.

  • Display the auto forward address for all users

Is there a transaction I can execute in ERP that will display the Auto Forward address for all users? I know that SO36 can be used to create an auto forward address for an individual user, however, I would like to list the auto forward address for all users

According to the 2nd article - I've created an empty Company_Phone_Number_Normalization_Rules.txt file and placed it in the Lync file share, in order to avoid any suspicion that the built-in file might be used. I've updated the address book but unfortunately
can't restart the FE services at this time. There's no still no change in the client.
Yet - the problem here is the numbers shown aren't present in the files making up the Lync address book inside the local user's sip profile folder.

  • Port forwarding with airport & external router

    Hi,
I'm happy with port forwarding normally, but I've just made my network entirely wireless and can't figure out the answer to this problem. I have a non wired netgear router as my internet access point, an airport express is connected to this getting its address via DHCP, another airport is joined to this network, and 2 macs are connected to the airports again getting addresses via DHCP. How do I port forward to the macs using this setup? I can't figure it out. Obviously I'll need to configure manually, but if I open the port on my router and open the same port on the AX will they go throught to the mac ok. Do I map the router to forward to the AX manual IP then map the AX to a specific mac IP? Any tips appreciated before I go ahead and break my network
    Emma

    Emma,
Ok, here are my thoughts. Have you tried assigning static IPs via DHCP, not manual config, based on client MAC addresses? Meaning when the router sees an ethernet MAC address it always assigns the same IP to that machine. This should enable the handing out of IPs while retaining port forwarding to the same machine each time and still preserve the routing that DHCP seems to enable more betterer . I'm not familiar with the netgear setup and I couldn't get my AX performing satisfactorily for my needs either so I have returned it however this is a 'somewhat' common option when setting up DHCP on different routers and I have found it works better when daisy chaining through routers.

  • Airport utility 6.1 change ip address for router

    Hi there,
I want to change the IP address for the router from 192.... to 10.....?  It doesn't seem possible with the new version of the aiport utility.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can change the IP address range that the AirPort Extreme provides as follows:
Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
Click directly on the AirPort Exteme icon
Click Edit in the next small window that appears
Click Network at the top of the next window
Click Network Options at the bottom of the window
Here, you can changet the iPv4 IP address range from 192.168.x.x to 10.0.x.x
Click Save and then click Update to restart the AirPort Extreme
IF....the Network Options button is grayed out, this indicates that the AirPort Extreme is in Bridge Mode. In that type of setup, you have another modem/router or gateway "upstream" on your network.  That is is the device that is providing the 192.168.x.x. IP addresses.
The AirPort Exteme simply passes through that network information to connected devices in Bridge Mode, since you only want one router on the network providing IP addresses.
You will need to check with the support folks for your modem/router or gateway if you want to modify the settings on that device.

  • SO36 Auto forwarding Address

    Hi Experts,
Is there any way or report or FM available to read SO36 Autoforwarding address of all the SAP Users ?
If it is not maintained properly then workflow notification mails are not going to external email ids.
If possible how can we mass maintain the SO36 auto forwarding address for all SAP users ?
         Thanks & Regards.

    Dear Anji,
       Thanks for your reply.
The functions you have specified gives me the address number of that user.
I want to read email id in forwarding address that is maintained in SO36 for all SAP Users.
i.e. if my sap User id is NAIMISH , I want to read [email protected] from SO36.

  • Set Forwarding Address on a Shared Mailbox

I am going to use Powershell to set the forwarding address on a Shared Mailbox. I need to allow a user who does not have Full Access to this mailbox and is not an Administrator to do this. I think I need to use RBAC to achieve this but I am not
too sure on the details. Is it possible to set the scope to a specific mailbox and permission? Can any one suggest what is required?
    Kevin Gallagher

    Hi Kevin,
In your case, you can use the New-ManagementScope cmdlet with the RecipientRestrictionFilter parameter to limit the scope to an individual user.
For more information, please refer to the Recipient Filter Scopes part in the following article.
    Understanding Management Role Scopes
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd335146(v=exchg.141).aspx#Recipient
What's more, if you just need to grant one user the permission to set the forwarding address for a specified shared mailbox, you need to create a custom management role.
Here is an article about custom management role using RBAC for your reference.

  • OSPF external route selection problem

Hello. I have a situation where I got two paths to get to a destination. Router A can get to subnet C either through my Telco's onsite router (Router A->telco router->Router C)or through a secondary link that travels from Router A-> Router B->diffenent Telco router->Router C.
The link between Router A and the telco router is area 0. The link between Router A->B->Telco router is also area 0.
Normally I want traffic to go directly through the onsite telco router...and only go through the longer route if the onsite router goes down.
For some reason I'm going through the suboptimal path. Here's what the OSPF database is telling me:
Routing Bit Set on this LSA
    LS age: 1267
    Options: (No TOS-capability, DC)
    LS Type: AS External Link
Link State ID: 192.168.33.0 (External Network Number )
    Advertising Router: 192.168.50.14
    LS Seq Number: 80000084
    Checksum: 0x4B8B
    Length: 36
    Network Mask: /24
Metric Type: 1 (Comparable directly to link state metric)
    TOS: 0
    Metric: 100
    Forward Address: 0.0.0.0
    External Route Tag: 66
    LS age: 262
    Options: (No TOS-capability, DC)
    LS Type: AS External Link
Link State ID: 192.168.33.0 (External Network Number )
    Advertising Router: 192.168.50.94
    LS Seq Number: 800003B8
    Checksum: 0xF757

    TOS: 0
    Metric: 100
    Forward Address: 0.0.0.0
    External Route Tag: 66
Both telco routers advertise this route as an extern type 1 with a metric of 100. Can anyone shed some light as to why my router is picking the path via 50.14 instead of 50.94? 50.94 is a locally connected network. 50.14 is a couple of hops away.

  • Lync 2013 - Address Book Synchronization Issues for External Users

I recently deployed Lync Server 2013 in my organization. Everything works fine except for the address book synchronizing issues and the mobility access. I would really appreciate if someone could share their knowledge as I have done lot of troubleshooting,
not sure if I have missed something. Please note my setup below for the External Web Services.
    Lync Front End:
    Listening: 8080 4443
    Published: 80 443
I have published my External Web Services URL and the following ports are open: 4443, 443, 8080
When I look at the Lync Client Configuration, ABS Server External URL is pointing to https://lyncexternalweb.domain.com:443/abs/handler. However, GAL Status is still pointing to my internal Front End FQDN: https://internal.domain.com:443/abs/handler.
For machines that are joined to the domain, the address books synchronizes with no issues. For machines that are not joined to the domain and for external users, GALContacts and GALContacts.DB files are not event generated for the users profiles.

    Hi Anthony,
    Please note the findings below:
    1. I was checking the Lync Client configuration on one of the PC that is not joined to the domain, still on the domain network via site to site VPN connection. I noticed that the Connected Lync Server varies: sipinternal.domain.com, sipexternal.domain.com,
lync.domain.com (Pointing to the Edge Server IP).
    2. Edge Server External Settings: Single IP address with the FQDN set to lync.domain.com for all 3 services and the following ports configured. Access Edge Service: 5061, Web Conferencing Edge Service: 444, A/V Edge Service: 443 with NAT enabled public
IPv4 address. I have checked the replication status between the Front End and Edge Server, it is up to date.
    3. In regard to the https://lyncdiscover.domain.com, I don't have the lyncdiscover.domain.com published, but it is pointing to the NAT enabled public IPv4 address which is assigned for A/V Edge Services.
    4. For the port forwarding, I am using the Cisco Meraki router.
Please advise if there are there is something that I am missing.
    Thanks!

  • OSPF down-bit set for a route originated as static?

If remote PE is redistributing a static route to VRF, local PE will get this route via BGP. Now suppose this local PE and CE is running OSPF and BGP VPNv4 route is redistributed to OSPF, will this PE set down-bit for type 5 LSAs advertised to CE?
I am bit confused by RFC-4576, it states that "When a type 3, 5, or 7 LSA is sent from a PE to a CE, the DN bit MUST be set", my understanding is that only if the route is originated from OSPF (at remote PE) then PE will set down-bit in LSAs advertised to CE.

    Niranjan,
IOS also set the tag to the BGP ASN on external routes as a loop avoidance mechanism as described in RFC 4577, section 4.2.5.2. According to the same RFC, this method has to be supported by default by any compliant implementation for backward compatibility purposes.

  • How to Fix Wrongly Entered External Email Forwarding Address?

I feel so stupid... I'm setting up a client's server, and I thought it would be a great idea to setup an 'alias' email address at the client's domain, that would automatically redirect/forward their email support questions to our support address. So, I created a 'support' user in their server, with the email address "[email protected]". I then went into the mail options for the user, and set it to forward all messages to "[email protected]".
Apparently, the OS X Mail Server only forwards messages between accounts on the same server - ie., it will not relay the messages to a third party. But it does not bounce the messages, either. So the sender believes that their message was sent, but the message never arrives at the destination.
I deleted the dummy 'support' user, but surprisingly, that did not solve the problem of the disappearing messages: now, although there are no more users set to forward messages to "[email protected]", no messages are ever sent to that address. That is, if a 'normal' user on that server wants to send us a message at that address, their message never reaches us - and they don't get a bounce. It's as if their server is eating all the messages to that address!
I'm guessing that when I set up the forwarding to an external address I must have created some 'loop', or corrupted some preference, which is now causing all messages to that external address to either be thrown out, or eternally queued. Questions:
    1) How can I fix this?
    2) Is there a way to configure redirection to an external address without hacking away at config files that are likely to be overwritten at the next update?

    May be is to late:
    /Applications/Server.app/Contents/ServerRoot/usr/bin/set_user_mail_opts -f list | grep null
    user: (null):   <[email protected]>
    Check the contents of /Library/Server/Mail/Data/db/.mailusersettings.plist
    Search the uncorrect mail addresses.
Search the correspondending user-guid, like 1AB9F9F6-024E-4D1F-9623-D22BDD93B826
    <key>1AB9F9F6-024E-4D1F-9623-D22BDD93B826</key>
    <dict>
    <key>kAutoForwardValue</key>
    <string>[email protected]</string>
    <key>kMailAccountState</key>
    <string>Forward</string>
    </dict>
    Run:
    /Applications/Server.app/Contents/ServerRoot/usr/bin/set_user_mail_opts --auto_fwd reset -g 1AB9F9F6-024E-4D1F-9623-D22BDD93B826

They said I need to change my settings to NAT settings. I haven't been able to figure out or find anything. I have also spoken to Apple Support on the phone for hours without being able to figure out how to do this ( i don't think he knew much either lol.) Please help me because I've got about 15-20 devices in my house that require to be connected to the internet and this is just making things ridiculously slow and painful for me.
    Thanks!

It is on DHCP & NAT under router mode yet my isp is still the one issuing ip addresses to my devices instead of the router issuing them

Why does my Airport Express say "self assigned IP address"?  No IP address for the ethernet, and it is not connecting to my cable router any longer...

Some cable providers.....like mine, a well known company......seem to take anywhere from a few moments to sometimes up to 30 minutes to allow their equipment back at the cable company to fully reset and issue a new fresh connection.
So, it would not hurt to leave things powered down for 15-20 minutes or more when you perform the reset that John Galt suggests.

  • SMTP for external address

    Hi!
I'm using was 620 and with transaction SCOT I have setup the node for SMTP. If I try to send a mail for a internal outlook address the system work fine, but if I try to send a mail for an external address (address with external internet provider) the system dosn't work and the error message is:
"802 = 550 5.7.1 Unable to replay for [email protected]"
    [email protected] is an example.
How I can send mail with SCOT for external address?
    Thank you very mutch,
    Gianluca

    Hi,
When you create a node in SCOT, you can choose HTTP or RFC. with HTTP type node, you can only communicate over http (like sending SMS) as the description says there. To use an internet mail functionality, you need to define an RFC type node.
With RFC type node, you will need to specify a RFC destination in the definition of the node (you can check the definition of some other nodes in SCOT by double-clicking them). This RFC Destination is nothing but a program (or a script) that is triggered from SAP for mail-send. This RFC destination must then have already been created using SM59, and must point to the right mail-send program.
Essentially, to be able to send emails outside to public email-ids, you need to have some way of connecting to the public mail network. The exe progra (like sendmail.exe) that is configured as an RFC destination enables this on SAP. Once you send a mail from SAP, it is sent to this configured RFC destination, which runs the corresponding OS level exe to connect to the public mail network and send the mail.
SAP doesn't provide such exe programs so you will need to procure it on your own (as far as I know). Once you have such a program, it should be possible to do the rest of the setup to have an RFC type node.
