OSStatus Error - 9459 while exporting slideshow from Aperture 3.0.1

While attempting to export a slideshow I get the message "Unable to Export Slideshow. The operation couldn't be completed. (OSStatus Error - 9459.)" This occurs when exporting to Apple TV or p720. Help please.

I received this error, when exporting the slideshow.
The slideshow took some time to export and the display on the Mac was set to sleep within the hour.
The display went to sleep and soon afterwards, I received the error.
If you have your display set to go to sleep then this could be one reason why you are receiving this error.
If not then I'm stumped for another answer.

When I export a slide show in Aperture, I get an error message "OSstatus error -9459". Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

Your other option is to post in the Aperture forum here:

  • OS Status error -9459 when exporting slideshow

I've put together a 17 minutes slideshow in iPhoto using the scrapbook theme. I've received this error twice now - once when using the default "display" size export to mp4 and a different time when using a more customized export to .mov using no compression.
After the first error, I rebooted and the export worked. I am trying a reboot again to see if I can export again with the new settings.
Anyone know why I'm getting this error and what it means?

You may have a damaged library. Try the following: backup and launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed to rebuild the library. Select the last three options.

This topic has considerable discussion on that particular error message and possible fixes: Error 9459 Potential Fix
Also Apearl reported in this topic, http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=11195681#11195681, setting the Energy Saver to never sleep would avoid that error message when exporting the slideshow. Not a fix, but a workaround.
Also if you search the iPhoto forum for 9459 you'll find many more topics covering the problem and some potential fixes.

  • Error(?) while exporting slideshow

    Hi,
so while I was exporting a slideshow with about about 100 photos at 1080p (high def.) the bar that shows the progress stops moving when it is two thirds done and the preview thumbnail thing next to it goes pitch black and it stays that way. In the end I had to cancel the export and give up on the slideshow.
If anyone has any idea of why this is happening please tell me...
(at the same time i was monitoring my cpu and temp using istat pro. i'm not sure if dashboard was causing the problem but who knows?)
    thanks

You need to use iDVD to make a disk that will play in a DVD player or other computer.
1 - open iDVD and select a theme.
2 - click on the "+" button and select Slideshow.
3 - open the slideshow window in iDVD and drag the movie file into it. (Do not move the movie from it's location on the hard drive till you've burned the DVD project to disk).
4 - finish up the iDVD project and save as a disc image: File->Save as Disk Image.
5 - mount the disk image and open DVD player and play. If the project plays OK in DVD Player the encoding was good.
6 - burn to disc with Disk Utility at the slowest speed available to assure the best burn quality. Always use top quality media: Verbatium, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.
Adding the movie to the slideshow rather than to the menu area will let you scale it to the TV save area like you can with still photos:
Set the scale to TV save area in iDVD's preferences:

  • Osstatus error -108 when exporting slideshow ... what does this mean?

I googles this and can't find anyone who has had it. How can you find out without being an operating systems developer!

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. What happens to the slideshow other than giving you this error. Don't know what it means. However, several users have reported iPhoto crashing when trying to export a slideshow. You might search this forum for that to see if you're experiencing something similar. As far as I know there was no fix found.
Be sure to report it to Apple via via http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto.html.

  • Problem exporting slideshow from Aperture

I have done a slideshow with about 300 photos and movie (hd). If I try to export, after more than 3 hours I obtain only music without video or only the final part of video with the first part of music.

  • HT3781 Exporting slideshows from aperture to apple tv

Does anyone have any tips in terms of producing as good a quality slideshow on a HD Pioneer Elite TV via apple tv?
I am not able to replicate the resolution of the photos on the tv screen and I presume there is a setting that needs to be changed.
The movies we rent via itunes to apple tv to the Pioneer TV screen display in lovely HD so I presume there is something I am doing wrong.
If anyone has a suggestion I would be most appreciative.
    Thank you.

Without knowing what settings you are using how can anyone say what settings need to be changed?
So post back with OS and Aperture versions, how you're making the sideshow, what theme and what settings you are using. Also where in the chain does the sideshow drop quality? In Aperture, on your Mac, only at the TV?

  • Osstatus error -9459 when export to iDVD

I have made several slide shows into mp4 files via Share to iDVD but 1 keeps generating the aboe error after many minutes of processing. ANy thoughts as to why this would be so. I should have enough HD space.

In SystemPreferences -> Energy Saver Set your Monitor Sleep setting to Never.

  • Error when exporting slideshow (OSStatus error -9459)

I put together a slideshow in iphoto without problem. The problem starts when I want to export the slideshow - in order to make it available in iTunes. The export process seemingly randomly stops with the error message (OSStatus error -9459).
The slideshow is rather large (500 pictures and some videos), I was not able to recreate the error when trying on a small selection, incl. movie clips.
Is the pure number of the pictures or the resulting file the reason for this? Anything else?
How can I solve this? Did anybody else have that problem?
Btw I am running Lion (but the error also happened with SnowLeopard).
    Thanks for any advice.

In your SystemPreferences -> Energy Saver set your Mac and screen to never sleep.

  • OSStatus error -9459  message received when I tried to export slideshow

OSStatus error -9459 message received when I tried to export an iphoto slideshow to imovie or iDVD. how do I work around it or correct the problem

Yes, it let me create a project.  The error came when I tried to save...not save as...also came when I went to build the DVD.  It always saves before it begins to build and the same error message came up again.  It is a very simple DVD...no menus....just a plug and play.  It is a thearter performance that was shot and then edited in Pro and opening titles and credits added.  The thought is that the DVD would be put into the player and the timeline begins to play from the opening titles to the end credits...nothing fancy......

  • An error occured while exporting the slideshow

Exporting a 400 slide slideshow. After it churns for awhile and the progress bar is all done, I get an error box that says:
AN error occurred while exporting the slideshow.
The export fiel could not be saved.
My only option is to click okay. No more detailed information available.
    1) One of my hard drives has 15 gig free and the other has 90 gig free
    2) I have a Users Movies directory ...nothing is in it.
    ANy suggestions?

Are you exporting by clicking the iDVD button in iPhoto? If so, try Share/Export to Full Quality Quicktime. It produces a video file that you can drag onto iDVD's menu area or import into iDVD. I've found it's a more stable way than making the jump directly from iPhoto to iDVD.
