OSX 10.3.9 +CANON IP 4200 FORGETS QUARTZ_FILTERS  SAVED IN PROFILE

When I save a profile in the printing dialog- for example in Safari - it forgets the saved Quartz filter option e.g. Black &White. When saving it the first time it prints as selected and one can find the selected Quartzfilter-Settings in the summary. After having saved and closed the printer dialog the Quartfiltersetting is ignored when printing and in the summary it says:”Quartz-filter: none”. If one goes to colorsync u can see that the option e.g “black&white” is shown up but one must klick at it in order to print “black&white”.
Then it shows up in the summary,: one can save again, but next printing it’s the same issue..
The only program where this issue does not occur- which means the Quarzfilter-settings are saved and working correctly -is I-photo!
What did I do so far:
*repairing permissions
*repairimg profiles
*deleting prefs, de- and reinstalling the Canon driver (Version 3.17 and 4.16)
*greyscaling activated and deactivated works but has no effect on the quartzfilter
All this did not solve the problem.
So I a m really at the end of my “wisdom” and I am hoping for some help from this forum.
Thanks so much in advance!

Hi Alfi
This should not be specific to any one printer, but
User account wide.
Find the file
~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.print.custompresets.pl
ist
and trash it.
Open a document to print it, and in ColorSync >
Quartz Filter, select black&white, for example.
In Presets, choose Save as, and give it a name, say
B&W.
now first printing works with the filter
Next time you go to print, in that same print
dialogue box, select from the presets, the saved B&W
preset, and that effect will be used for the
printing.
No after choosing the saved B&W it prints colour
Thanx, but it behaves as before, I did exactly what u wrote!
What can i do now?
(it works with iphoto but not another appl)

  • Camera Raw RC 8.6 does not automatically locate the lens profile for the new Canon 16-35mm f4 lens.  The profile is in RC 8.6

I have loaded Camera Raw RC 8.6.  It can not automatically locate the new Canon 16-35mm f4 lens, although the lens profile can be manually found.

    Hi
I forgot to answer one question.
When I have a file from the Canon 16-35mm f4 lens in Camera Raw and go to
Lens Correction and check the box Enable Lens Profile Corrections, when I
select  the model in the first box as Canon, it picks the wrong 16-35mm lens.
It  picks the f2.8.  I hope that you can get this fixed in Raw 8.6.  It is
a major headache for the user of this new lens.

  • Canon S-100 forgets date and time each time it's turned off.

Hello, I have a canon S-100 that forgets the date and time each time it's turned off. I see chat rooms that talk about if the internal battery is shot. The S-100 will loose date/time if the battery is removed. My S-100 asks for date/time every time I turn it on without touching the battery. Has anyone come across this issue?

The S100 has a built in rechargable battery that runs out after a few weeks of non use and no battery inserted. You can also set it to automatically update via GPS as shown on page 115. I attached a portion of  page 21 from the user manual to explain it better.

  • OSX 10.3.9, Canon and TWAIN

I previously posted in the Leopard forum about this issues, as it affected OSX 10.5 too. But eventually, through a few updates, and a few experiments with a good quality USB cable I have a less than satisfactory answer for my Mac Pro.
What I still need to establish is if there is any hope for applications in OSX 10.3.9 using TWAIN to grab images from a Canon MP600R. Just a quick summary of my progress:
OSX 10.5 connected with USB cable works a treat in Image Capture, nearly all the promised functionality is available.
OSX 10.5 connected by Ethernet (why I bought it over the cheaper MP610) requires the naff Canon ScanGear software, but works, even though most of the advertised functionality is lost.
OSX 10.3.9 connected by either method can see the scanner, can usually force a Preview (or Overview as it's called in OSX 10.5 Image Capture) and can perform the scan, but nothing is returned to the calling application.
This is the same as when we share the USB connected scanner from OSX 10.5 (shared using Image Capture) and connect to it from OSX 10.3.9 Image Capture. Preview works fine, but an actual scan produces nothing.
Did try running the OSX 10.4 Image Capture in OSX 10.3.9, but it doesn't even start.
Does anyone have any success with Canon scanners, particularly scanners from multifunction devices, using TWAIN from within applications in OSX 10.3.9 ? Typical apps are Image Capture, GraphicConverter, MS Word, etc, anything that can import direct from a scanner.
The specs state full support from OSX 10.2.8 so any success in Jaguar too would also help me.

    TMM,
Which version of PE do you use with 10.3 ?
I've received PE v3 and PE v4 (I think, or it could be two copies of PE v3 ) free with magazine subscriptions and buying a Mac or two over the years. But I stuck with GC because I love the scripting power and I'm usually converting to JPG to GIF.
But for scanning I could consider a different app. I ued to use primarily Epson Scan, or Epson Scan within GC, to scan previously. I loved it, it had all the key features required. I'm finding ScanGear is rather light in useful features, and would be more suited to a $30 scanner rather than a $400-$500 top-end consumer effort.
    Many thanks

  • Canon pixma 4200

hi there, i can´t install the drivers for my pixma 4200
I´ve downloaded the latest version from the canon homepage and it stops installing when it is less than one minute to go....?
but it keeps on rolling and rolling and rolling...
    any ideas,
    G5 Dual Core
    2,0GhZ
    5GBRam
    OS X 10.4.6

    Hi Florian,
The Canon driver will attempt to load most of its' content into the folder ./Library/Printers/Canon/BJPrinter. It sounds like you may have a problem with the installer trying to add/update files located in this folder.
The first thing you can try is running the Repair Permissions app located in Disk Utility. This is located in Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility. Select your G5 hard disk from the menu on the left and then click Repair Permissions. You will be asked to authenticate as the administrator and then the app will run. Once this is completed restart the G5 and try adding the driver again.
If this doesn't work, and if this is the only Canon printer you have connected to the G5, then I would delete the contents of the BJPrinter folder. Then, restart the Mac and try running the Canon driver installer again. Note that it should be v4.1.5 or later.
    Regards,
    Paul

  • MacBook running OSX 10.9.2 - Canon MX860 multifunction printer won't connect to wireless network

At the same time I upgraded to OSX 10.9.2, my wireless modem/router died and I had to replace it.  Don't know which (or both) caused the problem, but I can't get my Canon MX860 multifunction printer back on the wifi network.  Has anyone solved this problem?

I thought I would let you all know how I ended up fixing the issue on my system.
I noticed that after some time the 'ping' would stop responding and I would have to reset the printer in order to get the ping responses again. This seemed more like a network strangness than an actual printer issue.
So I connected to my AirPort Extreme to see if it was missing any software updates (it was not) and in the process I ended up making a couple of changes that I don't believe could be the cause of my issue, but any change made requires the device to reboot. After this, I was then able to add my printer.
Everyone should also note that after you click on the + to Add a printer, it will take some time before the printer shows up in the Default section. So make sure you wait at least a couple of minutes for it to show up.
So even though you may think the printer is actually on the network like I did (I could even put the IP address into Safari and access the printer configuration), it may still be a wireless network issue and not an actual issue with the printer or OSX 10.9.2 or the printer drivers.
Hope that helps others having this same issue.

  • OSX 10.8 and Canon LBP6300dn

    Hi!
I upgraded a few days ago to OSX 10.8 from 10.6, but now my Canon LBP6300dn is not working. The printer is connected to my router (ethernet) and I'm using WiFi on my MBA.
Firstly, even if I follow the instructions that come with the driver I get an error message that says: "Cannot connect to printer." Secondly the problem is that when I print a page it get an error message that says: "Printer busy". I tried to re-install the drivers, but nothing helps. Has someone else had this same problem?

  • OSX 10.10 and Canon 7D Mark II and Camera Raw

Anyone having any luck opening camera raw files using Lightroom 5 or Photoshop CS6 from Canon's 7D Mark II camera? Digital Photo Professional software also not available. I tried downloading the Maverick version but it didn't work.
    Any suggestions?
Any news about when camera raw update will release for this camera?

Jim, I understand that when people jump on new technology there are hiccups in the process. My reason for asking questions on this "community" forum was to hopefully find someone that might have some information about how to make RAW images work with this new Canon camera and new OS from Apple, etc. Others are publishing raw images and know how to access the updated software or have work arounds. That's all I'm looking for!
You, on ther other hand, seem annoyed by my questions and have no problem putting me in my place on this "help" forum. It would be nice if I knew as much as you but then that's why dummies like me ask questions from experts like you. Be patient and just ignore dumb questions! Please pocket your sacarsm. I'm old and I'm stupid. I'm just loking for some advise.
Quote Jim Hess: "In September 2014 I was given a small reward from Adobe for my contributions to the Adobe community forums." Congratulations!

  • OSX 10.8 AND CANON LBP3000

how can I connect the printer as the official driver is not supporting this OS?

The official driver for the LBP3000 is the CAPT v3.55 driver and it does support OS X 10.8.x.
The driver supports mutilple models of Canon laser, so the link Gerald has provided a link to for the LBP6000 is also for the LBP3000. But this is for the US models of LBP. If you are outside of the US, then you should use the UK English driver.

  • I have Lightroom 5 downloaded from the creative cloud. Lens profiles are not working for raw files. Canon 50D with EFS 10-22, EF 100 f2.8L macro and other Canon lens. None showing in lens profiles

When I first downloaded Lightroom 5 from the Creative Cloud lens profiles were working OK
Now it does not seem to recognize my camera - Canon 50D and lens - various Canon EF and EFS - All were recognized previously

I don't use these features, since I don't have such a cam, but could it be that you may need to input settings for filmback and distance of the lens mount somewhere? If the program operated based on wrong assumprions, the best profile in the world would be wrong...

  • LR 4.2 RC Canon 40mm and 18-135 STM Lens Profiles Not Installed

I have installed LR 4.2 RC but when I check Lens Profiles these lenses are not listed although ACR 7.2 is supposed to be supporting them. Can anyone tell me where I can get the profiles for these lenses and what is the proper procedure to install them?

I just figured out what I was doing wrong. All I had to do was open my CR2 RAW file in the development module and select the Lens Corrections Tab and checkmark the Enable Profile Corrections box and my Canon 18-135 STM lens profile was activated. Thanks for the replies.

  • Canon TS-E 17mm f/4L Lens Profile???

    Hi
I uesed this lens for a project but i don't own it! so no chance now to creat a profile for me.
Hase someone made a profile for this lens (with no tilt or shift of corse)?
thanks for any reply or help!

The lens profile delineates corrections for geometric (barrel or pincushion) distortion and for light fall-off (vignetting). The CA correction and defringe functions are separate tools that just happen to be grouped together with profile application function and the perspective distortion tools in the same panel because there is a certain logic to having them under one roof.

  • All of a sudden it seems firefox has forgotten where it is all the time. All my bookmarks and rss feeds are gone and a lot of times it forgets my saved usernames and passwords. The back button has ceased functioning as well.

It just started out of the blue, its like it just forgot everything I've done since I downloaded it years ago. Plus the back button doesn't work anymore. It's like it has constant amnesia.

Sounds that some SQLite database files are corrupted.
A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

Do you mean names and passwords in the Password Manager or do you mean that you are no longer logged on to (remembered by) websites after closing and restarting Firefox?
There is a difference between remembering the name and password in the Password Manager and a "remember me" check box on a web page to log you in automatically.<br />
The latter usually involves the creation of a special "remember me" cookie that is stored on your computer and that is send to the server.<br />
If that "remember me" cookie is removed or gets corrupted or is not send to the server then the server won't remember you anymore and you need to sign in once again.<br />
