OSx 10.3 doesn't start up and I have a CD inside...

I can't insert the software CD restore 'cause I have a cd inside the computer and I can't remove it! With my iBook I always could remove any CD (if there was a problem) inserting a clip, but with the powerbook??? how could I remove the CD??? thankx!

press the power on and at the moment you hear the starting sound, press F12 for a while, the computer will eject the CD...

Thanks for these suggestions: I have tried safe mode re-starts (both "verbose" and simple "shift" + power) to no avail. I get the error message "disk0s2: media is not present". Following this I inserted the installation disc and from there ran disc utility. The "Verify Disk" indicated an error " invalid sibling link" which it could not repair.
I also tried to completely re-format/erase the disk, but again got an error message "disk object invalid or unable to serialize".
Any ideas of what could be causing this or the best solution? I fear I am fast running out of options.

If its a MBA with solid state drive then I would guess its the fan touching something ???. I think it have no other moving parts.

Opening FILE it goes right back to the start page and I have to restart firefox.

I go from start page to Mozilla Firefox and when I go to check or retrieve a FILE it closes down and goes back to the start page(screen saver) and I have to restart Firefox. Also, when I am trying to work on a website and I click FILE to retrieve pictures etc. it goes back to start page(screen saver). I tried using INTERNET EXPLORER and I do not have the problem. I prefer using Firefox.

I am getting I-messages that have been sent and receveid by my kids. I am the master account holder but this has just started happening but we have had i phones for years. We are connected to the same I-tunes account but they are seperate devices. When my daughter sends an i message it goes to her contact in my name not hers. Also any i messages i am now sending to her are not reaching her. Can anyone suggest what can be done to fix this?

Recently have upgraded to OSX Maverics. Since then the mouse and keyboard have been behaving weirdly. Ex:It doesn't select the file I want, the mouse pointer also disappears at times.

PROBLEM WITH THE MOUSE
When the apple start menu is clicked on there is already an option selected (that is the first option) and when the cursor is moved on the other options the options do not get highlighted. When the cursor moves on the other options the blue highlighter starts flickering. This happens where ever files are there.
Some or the other file gets highlighted on its own and when I click on the file I want then the file does not get highlighted.The blue highlighter comes on the file selected and goes back to the default file selected.
PROBLEM WITH THE KEYBOARD
When typing anything sometimes the cursor after typing the first letter moves forward on it's own. Like when searching in the spotlight,searching on the
internet and where ever you type.
Is this because of the virus or the OSX Maverics upgrade?
Looking forward to a hopeful solution at the earliest.

Since update to version 4.3.3 mail doesn't start up and doesn't work

Since I updated my Iphone 4 to the software version 4.3.3, Mail doesn't work out good anymore.
It is the only thing which doesn't work. All other App's are good.
Mail hang's up if you start it.
If it starts sometimes, it says for example: 4 mails received, but nothing shows up ...
Probably somebody else has such problems

If the downloads are stalled or "waiting" - try these suggestions.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Make sure that you do not have a stalled download in iTunes - a song or podcast .... if you have a download in there that did not finish, complete that one first. Only one thing can download at a time on the iPad so that could be what is causing the problem.
If that doesn't work - sign out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again.
Settings>iTunes & App Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go back to Settings>iTunes & App Store>Sign in and then try to update again. Tap one waiting icon only if necessary to start the download stream.
You can also try deleting the waiting icons - tap and hold down on an icon until it wiggles - the tap the X on the icon to delete it. Then try to download again.
You can try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your app preferences and device settings again.
If all else fails, download the updates or the apps in iTunes on your computer and then sync the content to your iPad.

Application starts IE and needs to access html inside Jar

I have a Swing application which i have deployed as an executable Jar file. One of the options i give the users within this application is the ability to view a html file in their default browser. However the html file is packaged within the jar and i cannot get Internet Explorer to target the html file when it exists inside the jar.
I fire up IE using the following command :
Runtime.getRuntime().exec( "rundll32 url.dll,FileProtocolHandler <path to html file>" ).
The above command works no problem if my html file exists on my hard drive so for example the following works no problem:
Runtime.getRuntime().exec( "rundll32 url.dll,FileProtocolHandler C:\test\help.html" )
I have tried the following command by getting the URL for the html file using :
URL theURL = myClass.class.getClassLoader().getSystemResource( "help.html" );
I then get a path to the file:
File aFile = new File( theURL.getFile() );
String htmlFile = aFile.getAbsolutePath();
and execute the command
Runtime.getRuntime().exec( "rundll32 url.dll,FileProtocolHandler" + " " + htmlFile )
However this was not successfull either.Can anyone tell me how i might get internet explorer to display a html file which is packaged within a jar.

An idea. Never tried anything like this myself, so don't know if it will work. Don't see why it shouldn't though.
A jar file is just a file in the zip format so write some code that uses the tools in java.util.zip to unpack the jar (or just specific contents) to somewhere like /temp
Then use the runtime exec to start the browser with the argument /temp/file.html

After updating a program (Family Tree Builder), I started Firefox and now have a special tool bar for My Genealogy every time I start up....did not ask for it, don't want it....deleted the program, but how do I fix Firefox?

I then deleted Firefox as a program and lost all my bookmarks, special apps....how do I delete the special tool bar (and start page) without having to delete Firefox and my setups.

Hi ed652gray. You may uninstall the toolbar on the Control Panel, using the "Uninstall a program" option. Look for something like "Family Tree Builder Toolbar" or "My Genealogy Toolbar".

After updating to the newest version of fire fox (my old version was working just fine) won't start now and I have no idea what to do I have unistalled and reinstalled but still when I click on the icon nothing happens please help

Firefox tells me that it has prevented my Internet provider program - Earthlink, from uploading as it is starting up, and I have to hit ALLOW mult times.

I do not want Firefox to keep Earthlink.net from populating all of my Home page. Currently I have to hit the Allow button multiple times every time I open my home page to get all the parts of it updated.

To make sure, does this also happen after you restart and disable the antivirus toolbars temporarily?
Also, on the popup that you click on, is there a check box option to "Remember this for next time"?
