OSX 10.4.7 issue

After recent the software update to OSX 10.4.7 (from 10.4.5 I think) an application, Photoshop Elements 2, freeze on start and the following window pop up:
"An error occurred while attempting to download a file from the Adobe Online web server.
The request was not understood by the server. HTTP #400-Bad Request
18:400"
I ran the Disk Utility, Deleted and reinstaled the application but no luck.
Any suggestions how to overcome the issue shall be appreciated.
Thank you in advance.

Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Sounds like because Photoshop Elements 2.0 is old (version 4.0 is current), its software update may be pointing to the wrong server, or a server that is having routing issues now. Check to see if you can find in its preferences the option to check for software updates and if it can be turned off. 400 Bad Request is explained in more detail here:

  • OSX 10.8 Install issues.

I don't understand why this is so difficult for me.
I'm having a problem upgrading to Mountain Lion from Lion on a MB Air.
I've done almost everything except wipe, and renew, which i cannot do, because I don't have a Lion install disk.
    Here's what I've tried.
Install directly from appstore (Buy, Mount, and Install ML)
This did not work because I "do not have a recovery partition"Got that error about a recovery partition. (error "code" -69840)
Then, I thought I was smart, and unpackaged the ML package, grabbed the InstallESD, mounted it, and installed. No avail (same as above)
Then, I "restored" InstallESD to a bootable device (WITH InstallESD MOUNTED) I got stuck at "Installing Mac OSX" with an empry progress bar!I googled this, and found nothing!
THEN, I downloaded LionInstaller (or something) that's supposed to automagically create a usb disk for me with the downloaded packageStill no avail, when I booted to the created partition, i got a "Something Went Wrong" error!
So, now I said "screw it all" and am willing to wipe EVERYTHING. But, CMD+R on boot gives me this "-2100" 'sorry, your internet *****' error!
I've almost exausted my time, and effort on this, and, quite frankly, think it's odd how it seems like no two people experience the same result when getting errors installimg osx.
All I wanted to do was install XCode 5, but apparently, apple doesn't want me to become an iOS7 developer!
Here's some background information about the computer:
There USED to be a bootcamp partition on the computer, but was deleted to make more room for OSX, and files, etc.

UPDATE: I got a recovery partition to be added!!!
I acheived this by doing some magic.
Basically, going into diskutil, finding the recovery HD (which in my case had a BLANK NAME!!!)
    and readding it.
Now, to attempt to install ML...
UPDATE AGAIN: This seemed to fix my issue. The full "what I did" is here:
    http://derflounder.wordpress.com/2011/10/22/removing-and-rebuilding-a-malfunctio ning-recover-hd-partition/
The one thing I did DIFFERENTLY is it says to "identify" the partition that is recovery.. Unfortunately my partition did NOT have a name, so I had to guess, (LOOK FOR A FILESIZE OF 650.0MB) and delete it.

  • Adobe Reader 9 and Mac OSX 10.5 - FDF Issue

I have an issue that only happens when using Adobe Reader 9 and Mac OSX 10.5.
When submitting a form from within a PDF, the FDF that gets sent is completely blank.
Tested on Mac OSX 10.4 with Adobe Reader 9 - no issue
Tested on Mac OSX 10.5 with Adobe Reader 8 - no issue
Tested on Mac OSC 10.5 with Adobe Professional 8 - no issue
It only seems to be a combination of OSX 10.5 and Reader 9. Does anyone have any clue about the settings of these two and what might be happening?
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

Mac OS 10.4.11: I could not open pdf docs today (12-24-08), uninstalled & installed Adobe Reader 9.0.0. pdf docs icons changed but open, however cannot open Reader from Applications and get: Adobe Reader
    Version 9.0.0
    Installing/fixing installation
Then immediately get this error message:
Adobe Reader could not install correctly.
Adobe Reader was unable to install a necessary component
    and must quit.
Any help out there for me?

  • Kinect Mac OSX 10.6.8 Issues

    Hi everyone,
I really want to use my Kinect with Processing 2.0, but I keep getting malloc errors like this one:
java(12328,0x7fff70269cc0) malloc: *** error for object 0x1020319e8: incorrect checksum for freed object - object was probably modified after being freed.
*** set a breakpoint in malloc_error_break to debug
I have tried multiple drivers for the Kinect: libfreenect and SensorKinect, after installing the proper libusb-devel, libusb, libusb-freenect, etc libraries.  I have also tried multiple versions of OpenNI, and NITE.
The strange thing is that in each configuration, the samples/examples will work for a short period and do what they are supposed to do but will then throw the above malloc error.  It is strange because EVERY configuration I've tried throws these kinds of errors.  These occur when I run some SimpleOpenNI examples IN Processing and also when I run non-Processing examples outside of Processing, through the terminal (i.e. samples that come with NITE or OpenNI).
The fact that it is the same error in all configurations makes me think it could be some sort of 64 bit versus 32 bit mess up?  I've also tried running Processing in both 32 and 64 bit modes.  I am running 64 bit Java (don't know if this is relevant - I don't actually think so), most recent update for OSX 10.6.8.  I think these problems also might be related to the libusb library, upon which the Kinect drivers all seem to depend.
Does anyone have any advice or ideas?  I'm getting really discouraged!  Thank you so much!

    Hi Michael,
I am having similar issues - did you get yours resolved? I did see some notices where people have indicated that this can happen with some of the newer Kinects (Model 1473 was mentioned). My OS is 10.8.4, and I have fresh installs of OpenNI-Bin-Dev-MacOSX-v1.5.4.0 and I have tried both the stable and unstable versions of SensorKinect. All the apps run for 20 seconds or so before dying with some sort of error:
hugh-mbp13:x64-Debug hugh$ ./Sample-NiSimpleViewer Read failed: A timeout has occurred when waiting for new data! Sample-NiSimpleViewer(503,0x105f00000) malloc: *** error for object 0x7f97ec801328: incorrect checksum for freed object - object was probably modified after being freed.
*** set a breakpoint in malloc_error_break to debug
Anyway - maybe I will try to track down an older Kinect and see if it still gives the same error...
    Cheers Hugh

  • Mac OSx/5508/3702i dropping issue

    Hi all,
I have installed dozens of WLCs but with this one customer rollout I have hit an impasse.  The customer has a 98% MacOS device environment running a 5508 HA pair and 3702i APs.  The Mac OSx users randomly lose access even when their device sits in one place within 10 feet of a below ceiling tile hung AP. Disconnects can't be recreated as no particular behavior seems to trigger the drop.  Also for some clients there is severe latency(>1000ms) just pinging the WLAN gateway. Pings from Gateway SVI to AP are fine(<5ms) Debugs imply AP is too busy to handle an authentication request even thought the AP only has 10 users and an insignificant amount of traffic flowing through it. This issue is not dedicated to just one AP either as folks all over the 30 AP environment suffer similarly.  Air Magnet shows no coverage holes.  Windows devices appear ok.
I am more interested if this is has happened to anyone else and if anyone has had something that has fixed this issue for them instead of troubleshooting.
TAC case has been open over 4 months with escalation and Backbone TAC involvement with no luck.
    Details:
    - Mac OSx versions are random and those running Yosemite do have the latest patch.
    - WLC versions 7.6.120, 7.6.130, 8.0.102MR, and 8.0.110 have not corrected the problem.  (although fewer errors are seen in the debugs)
    - Although APs are actually local to the controller, the customer has them in Flexconnect for HA and Bandwidth reasons.
    - problem happens with Band Steering and also with Dedicated 5Ghz SSID (2.4 unusable due to density of APs using 2.4 in surrounding buildings)
    - Clear Air 5ghz report score above 97%
    - tried Legacy Beam forming, no joy.
    - EDRRM is on
    - Fast Transition is on
    - Fast SSID switching is on
    - Problem occurs with 20 and 40 Mhz channel bonding.
    - 802.11k sticky cache has been tried to no avail.
    - FUS is at 1.8 (I hear FUS 1.9.0.0 not only fixes the subsystem bugs but may iron out problems with the Operation side too)
    - SSID running dynamic vlan assignment from NPS Server
    - 6 SSIDs total
    - No DFS channels being used
    - SSID timeout has been turned off
    - Data rates below 9Mbit are disabled
    - APs are roughly 25 feet apart.

    Thanks Leo,
Problem happens to multiple versions of OSx, those running Yosemite do have the latest patch.  Unfortunately I don't think disabling N is going to be feasible.  Due to the High density rate there is no b/g to fallback on (2.4 Ghz is completely saturated).  So that would leave users with basically just 802.11a?  I do have a customer with similar set up running 5508 (v7.6.130) with 3702 in flexconnect.  The difference is the1.9.0.0 FUS has been applied and they run Pre-shared key authentication. Where as the problem customer runs older FUS and Dynamic Radius based vlan assignment.

  • Illustrator CS5/CS6 on OSX 10.9.1 - Issue with loading fonts.

I'm using Illustrator CS6 on OSX 10.9.1. Ever since I've upgraded to OSX Mavericks, Illustrator has stopped loading some of the document fonts even though they are enabled and available for other applications. I get the font missing dialog every time I open the artboard after a system restart. I usually resolve this by opening the Font Book app, disabling and re-enabling the fonts. This refreshes the artboard and the fonts then appear to work as normal. Initially, I suspected a compatability issue with Illustrator CS5 and OSX Mavericks, but after upgrading to CS6, I continue to have the same issue. The fonts in question are ttfs and these worked fine previously.
    How can I fix this?

Do you use any third party font maangement tool?
    Which fonts are affected?

  • OSX login page resolution issue switching back from a mirrored TV

I have an issue on my MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Yosemite (10.10.2).
I use to connect an external tv via Mini DisplayPort - HDMI cable.
Everything is ok untill I switch back to the single Retina Display: the OSX login page inherit the TV resolution (Full HD) permanently.
To fix it you untill the next mirroring you have to reset the PRAM memory on startup by holding cmd (⌘) + alt (Opt) + P + R.

I've also been having this problem. My computer now consistently shuts down between 10 seconds and 2 minutes of startup. This only happens if my computer is not plugged in. (my battery has been between 70-90% the entire time.) If I keep it plugged in...no problems.

  • HT4413 we are trying to move a user account from OSX.8 back to an older Mac with OSX.5 Having some issues. Someone help?

I understand why it does not work due to compatability issues. Is there a work around?

First, can you clarify what OS versions you are talking about? OSX.8 is meaningless.
OS X versions are of the form 10.x.x.
    Leopard = 10.5 to 10.5.8
    Snow Leopard = 10.6 to 10.6.8
    Lion = 10.7 to 10.7.4 (so far)
Mountain Lion = 10.8 (has not yet been released)
In general, you can't use migration or setup assistant to  recover data from a later OS version.
I wouldn't see much problem doing it the hard way, though - just using file sharing or even target disk mode to transfer user data.
There may be problems with some files saved in some applications on Lion having compatibility issues with earlier versions of those applications.
I'm sure a Lion user can enlighten us further.

  • OSx Powermac G4 Setup Issue

    Hello,
First off... I am completly new to Apple Computers. I am very advaced in computer Hardware and Windows.
    Ok here we go...
I am installing OSX on five G4 PowerMacs that where donated to my orginization. The Install process goes great until after the restart. It displays a CPU Panic Error and halts. The error is because of a driver issue (That is what it said). Can anybody please point me in the right direction of how to fix this problem?

    dpkline, welcome to Apple Discussions.
You are probably getting a Kernal Panic. KPs are usually associated with a hardware problem. Are you having the same problem on all the 5 Macs.
When trying to troubleshoot problems, disconnect all external devices except your monitor, kbd & mouse. Do you experience the same problems?
May be a solution on one of these links.

  • Mac OSX Snow Leopard - Strange Issues

    Hello all,
I am having trouble with the keyboard on any mac osx 10.6 client.
When the application opens everything is fine except that they keyboard is wrongly mapped, so far the only key that i know for sure is wrong is the delete key. The delete key doesn't backspace like it should, it simply goes to the end of the line (like an end key) But if you were to use Delete with FN it will function correctly and delete characters in front of it.
I have googled the hell out of this one and i cannot get any decent results. It seems to be too abstract or long worded for google.
    Just to point out:
I am using the version of X11 that came with Mac, i don't really want to downgrade and infact it won't be an option for my clients.
The keyboard works fine in other x apps including the SGD connection login window (the one appearing before the app launches)
I am in australia, don't know if that makes any difference to the keyboard maps.
Also is there any known issues using the admin console with Safari on Mac?
I just have a lot of issues adding objects to objects e.g. adding applications to a group which are then assigned to a user profile. Particularly adding the applications to the group fails, when i click add and select the app then press ok it doesn't add the app and then when i click any link on the page the admin console goes straight back to the start page (just as if i had only just logged in).

  • Apple USB Modem 2.02/OSX 10.4.10 issue

    Hi there:
3 weeks ago I bought a new imac and also an apple usb modem (since we only have dial up where I live).
I wasn't having a problem at all with connecting to the internet.
I am online virtually most of the day and, at night, I disconnect and put my computer to sleep.
Now every morning when I go to connect, it just says "connecting" endlessly, with no dial tone....YES, the phone line is working.
It does nothing to disconnect the phone line, the modem etc.
If you click "disconnect" it just says "disconnecting" endlessly.
I am forced to shut down the computer and reboot to make it stop and reset itself and then I can connect to the internet just fine.
The only thing I can think of that changed since when I first got the computer is that I upgraded to OSX 10.4.10.
Does anyone know if this is a 10.4.10 issue or a modem issue?
    Help!
    Thanks!

You should post this issue in the Internet, Networking and your Intel-based iMac Discussions forum. Here's the URL: http://discussions.apple.com/forum.jspa?forumID=1111.

  • OSx 10.2 startup issue B & W G3

I recently upgraded to a MacPro. Great machine. But I have a problem with my old G3.
My B&W G3 was running fine up to yesterday, with OS9.2 & OSx 2.3 running in separate partitions. I decided to switch the G3 entirely to OSx 2.3 and did the following:
1 - backed up both partitions
2 - initialized the disk (8.5 GB)using the write zeros
    option
3 - Installed OS 2.3 which completes OK, but when the
computer re-boots the multi-language welcome screen
freezes on the "Registration Information" screen.
    I am stuck.
    4 - I then re-initialized the disk
5 - Successfully re-installed 9.2 and did some stuff and
    rebooted OK
    6 - I then Re-installed 10.2.3 in the same partition but
    on re-booting OSx 10.2.3, the multi-language welcome
screen still freezes on the"Registration Information"
screen. I am stuck, and really disappointed because if
I cannot get 10.2 to work, I will be stuck with 9.2 and
be worse off than I was before. Any Help will be
    appreciated.

The only non-Apple cards in my G3 are a memory card, and the internal modem which is from the same manufacturer as the original, fits in the same place, uses the same connections as the original. The disk is a SCSI, officially 8GB but really 8.51 GB. I will disconnect the modem and try again. If that does not work, then perhaps the less than 8GB is the issue as it was working before when I ran in separate partitions (3GB & 5GB). I will repartition as close to 7.99GB and .52GB as I can get and see what happens

I upgraded to OSX 10.9 and since then my wifi doesn't work. Either it drops, or just shows and exclamation mark.. Anyone has any idea?

    Hello kukucskagabor,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with Wi-Fi on your Mac after upgrading to OS X Mavericks.  I would be concerned about this too.
I recommend reviewing the full article and specifically the section labeled, "Symptom: The network connection drops unexpectedly" in the following article to resolve an issue like the one you described:

  • Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000 and OSX 10.6 - Compatibility issue

I've bought a new MacBook Pro (2,53 GHz, 4 GB RAM) and OSX 10.6.4 . With the old one (MBP 2,16 GHz, 1 GB RAM, still with OSX 10.6.4) the Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000 went perfectly.
Now I'm experiencing a major compatibility issue: the same mouse, even with the same OS version but only a different MacBook Pro, won't be recognized.
    Bluetooth: activated
    Bluetooth firmware: latest
    Mouse: ON with batteries OK
OPERATING SYSTEM: same (first restored via Time Machine and then updated with Apple Software Update)
    Suggestions?

I went through many of the same frustrations as the members above...my mouse had been working after the upgrade and then when I set up for a presentation with a room full of teachers it wouldn't connect.  I replaced batteries, etc... so I resorted to the pad.
When I got home i checked the batteries and tried to reconnect following all the "normal" steps until I read the comment above about removing the existing device in the bluetooth preferences.  Once I did that - the 5000 connected like a champ!  Yeah!  This is the one mouse that I have really appreciated, especially since both of the USB ports are side by side and don't allow for multiple USB connections from my "wide" cellular USB card.

  • Mac OSX has loads of issues after upgrade

I upgraded my OSX to mountain lion 10.8.3, and after 2 days it is completely crippled.  I will try to describe my problem as there are loads of symptoms.
My Activity monitor shows UserEventAgent, SystemUIServer, and loginwindow eating 2GB of memory each.  Plus I installed a new App called Onyx to try to resolve issue, and even that app is not working eating 3gb of RAM.  My mac is crippled, every app just crashes, I can't even successfully shut it down because it so overloaded.  Oh, and the worst part, the Upgrade ruined my Time Machine Backup, because after upgrade it started backing up and crashed in the middle of it showing black screen of death.
The best (or worst) part of this horror story is, is that I tried reinstalling my OSX by doing Cmd-R.  Everything went smoothly to a point where I choose the HD to install to, and it only listed a recovery drive, the main drive wasn't even on the list. What this means, is that I'm deep in the water, and I have no idea how to bring my mac back to healthy state.

I have not done so for /private/var/run/StartupItems because I don't know how to get there.
You can't get there, because no such folder exists or ever has existed on any computer.
If you want to preserve the data on the boot drive, you must try to back up now, before you do anything else. It may or may not be possible. If you don't care about the data, you can skip this step.
There are several ways to back up a Mac that is unable to fully boot. You need an external hard drive to hold the backup data.
    1. Boot into Recovery (command-R at startup) or from a local Time Machine backup volume (option key at startup.) Launch Disk Utility and follow the instructions in the support article linked below, under “Instructions for backing up to an external hard disk via Disk Utility.”
How to back up and restore your files
    2. If you have access to a working Mac, and both it and the non-working Mac have FireWire or Thunderbolt ports, boot the non-working Mac in target disk mode by holding down the key combination command-T at the startup chime. Connect the two Macs with a FireWire or Thunderbolt cable. The internal drive of the machine running in target mode will mount as an external drive on the other machine. Copy the data to another drive. This technique won't work with USB, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth.
How to use and troubleshoot FireWire target disk mode
    3. If the internal drive of the non-working Mac is user-replaceable, remove it and mount it in an external enclosure or drive dock. Use another Mac to copy the data.
