You need to do an erase and install.
Start up holding down on the c key.
Select English and continue, then Utilities and disk utility.
Select the hard drive long name and choose partition.
Select 1 partition, name it and select the options button.
Select the Apple Partition Map APM and select mac os x extended journalled and partition.
Then click on first aid, select the volume you have just created and Verify the disk.
If it passes verification then quit disk utility and continue.
When asked for the destination, select your newly created volume and follow the on screen directions.

After a reasonable big crash ( It wiped out most of my program files . . .)
on my computer I wanted to reinstall BB Link.

And rolls back the (not yet installed) installation.
    Sugestions are appreciated.

Everytime I start the re-installation it runs into : Error 1316. Specified account already exists.
This is because there are still blackberry files let on your computer.
Since the MS Utility did not work for you, that is what it does it removes all files, the only hope you have to install Link is to use Windows Search "Advanced" search Everywhere and manually delete all blackberry files found.

  • ILife will not install... any ideas?

Bought Mac Box Set Family Pack.
Snow Leopard successfully installed on three PC's.
iLife wil not install on third PC
    Have run all possible updates
    Any ideas?

When your computer 'spits' out the disc it means it is unreadable. Since the discs are readable on other computers it suggests that there's a problem with the computer's optical drive or that the discs are somewhat scratched/dirty and that computer is more sensitive than your other computers.
Can that computer read other DVDs? You don't need to test with an installation DVD you can try a movie. The problem might be nothing more than a dirty optical drive lense and be fixable by using a DVD drive cleaning kit.
What's the silver side of the installation disc look like? See any scratches and/or finger prints? Carefully wipe the disc with a lint free cloth (wiping in circles around the disc, not across the grain)
Assuming you have another FireWire computer you could connect the two with a FW cable and boot the other computer into FireWire Target Disk mode by rebooting and holding the 'T' key. This will let the MacBook use the other computer's drive to install the software.

Sometimes the App Store version doesn't work correctly. In this case, install 10.8.4 with the Combo version > http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1659?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
The Combo installer is the safest way to update OS X, and it allows you to update more than one computer with a single download

  • How to download but not install OSX Mountain Lion on Mavericks

    Hi all
I would like to download but not install OSX Mountain Lion on my MBP which is currently running OSX Mavericks.
This however seems impossible. I think OSX Mavericks were already installed on my MBP and therefore it seems "impossible" to download it.
Now, why would I to do this? The answer is quite reasonable, due to certain demands related to an application portfolio I need Mountain Lion, because the portfolio is not upgraded to run on Mavericks. And, it is more reasonable to downgrade a version of OSX, rather waiting for the portfolio upgrade which can take years.
Yes, I need to downgrade my secondary MBP which also came with preinstalled Mavericks. This can be done, if I only could download but not install Moutain Lion.
It should be easy enough; download Mountain Lion, make an installer and make a bootable thumb usb stick. Then erase Mavericks and install Mountain Lion.
I have previously bought Mountain Lion so it is accessible to me in the App Store, but whenever I try to hit the Download button, I get a message saying this can't be done, since I am running Mavericks.
This bugs me, it should be obvious users needs the flexibility to swap whatever OSX version they need. It is still software.
So, how can I download but not install Mountain Lion on my newer MBP that came with preinstalled Mavericks?
I would like to see answers like:
"In order to get this to work, you first have to disable the locking mechanism in [...] " instead of "No, this is impossible to do"
    Regards

    Thanks for your reply Eric
Can't help wondering thought, people are ok with this?
Basically Apple are saying: "Do not attempt to install an older version of OSX which came preinstalled. If so, expect multiple failures." Really?! Has it always been so? For me it's not like I'm going to install Snow Leopard on my Late 2013 Retina MBP, but I would expect some form of backward compatibility between the previous version and it successor. Apparently this is not possible, and how is this even acceptable?
Personally, I am not going to downgrade, as if I had a choice, but I would and I expected however, the possibility to at least download the previous OSX version. What do you do if you have bought several applications, not necessarily online from App Store and buy yourself a new Mac with preinstalled Mavericks and after installing your "old" applications they fail to work properly? What do you do since downgrading apparently is not an option. So... again, what do you do?
If you don't have friends with an older Mac, you could be facing serious problems. And I'm not talking about gaming, but serious business.
I find this quite disturbing actually, and please tell me it's not so. There gotta be a way to do this?
I simply want to download the OS but I expect some registry values (like windows' registry) keeps preventing this.
It should be possible to simply download and not download and install in one operation, shouldn't it?
    Regards

I recently moved all my logic audio sessions to a back up hard disk. Also updated to Loin OSX. My Stylus RMX is not working. I get a message Missing Element on Part 1...Currently not installed on their computer or has been moved to a different folder. Any help out there?

    Hi
Sounds like you may have moved the RMX library folder?
Is RMX fully updated (for Lion)?
Check your hard drives for a file called SAGE:
It (or an alias of it) is normally found in the <USER>:Library:Application Support:Spectrasonics.
Note that on Lion, the <User> Library is 'hidden'... quickest way to get there is to hold down Option (Alt) whilst using the Finder:Go menu

  • TS4209 Wi-Fi 1.0 patch will not install on a 10.7.4 Mac OSX even though the Wi-Fi loss bug is still there

    Hello all,
The Wi-Fi 1.0 patch will not install on a 10.7.4 Mac OSX even though the Wi-Fi loss bug is still there, every now and then (the iMac does not detect any wi-fi network).
Are there any other solutions regarding this issue ?
    kind regards

    I figured out the problem.
This is going to sound a little crazy, but I've spent a lot of time on this one.
There's some kind of incompatibility with Lion and Seagate ST31000340AS drives. I was trying to install Lion on these drives and it would consistently fail. I've also tried to use these drives in a RAID volume. No go. I tried three different drives of this model. All of them failed.
I tried to install Lion on a Seagate ST31000528AS and it worked first time and sings beautifully.

  • OSX Lion & Brother Scanner DSmobile 600 will not install driver

    OSX Lion 10.7.2
    Hardware: Brother DSmobile 600 (USB)
    Software Driver:  DSmobile600_Mac_1_2_4.dmg (OSX 10.6-10.7)
Scanner driver does not install - Scanner does not work
    Procedure
Launch the Brother installer - goes through install procedure - forces a required restart
looked in BotherScanner folder - nothing there
Apparently the installer is not actually installing anything except the folder
Looked at the installer content - cannot see anything to install
Do not have the driver form the old OSX
The Brother DSmobile USB scanner did work in OSX6
    Any solutions?

I discovered the asnwer to my own question for the benifit of anyone else.
    Turn off all anti-virus software!
If you disable any installed security virus /network software etc., download the latest brother DS600 scanner dirver. the Brother scanning driver will install.
however you may have to run any repair software you have afterwards. e.g. Tech Tool Pro 6 and Cocktail.
The Brother DS600 scannr driver install is kind of rough.
The Brother DS600 Mobile scanner does work in Lion 10.7.2
In addition, the Brother DS600 mobile scanner driver installs in WIN 7. Same scenario turn off all anti-virus software before install. works
