OSX 10.6.8 and Adobe CS2

I have just upgraded my laptop to 10.6.8, and I'm now having problems with Adobe software.
No other software updates were done at the time, except that MS Office 2008 was also loaded (using MS Office 2004 previously).
I've checked through the forums and tried the following 'fixes':
Removed Microsoft folder from Library/Fonts
Checked for updates (and performed all found) on Microsoft, Adobe and OSX
Run 'repair disk permissions'
Removed Microsoft Office 2008 (so that only 2004 is still there)
The first problem I noticed was when I tried to run Web Photo Gallery or Contacts Sheet II from Photoshop (> File > Automate). As soon as I set it running (after selecting source and desitnation folders successfully) it bombs straight away. In fact, when I tried the Contacts Sheet option, it froze the machine entirely and I had to do a hard reboot, which is a very rare occurence.
Generally, the machine is also running far slower than before - especially when accessing files on my external hard drive via Airport (which worked perfectly acceptably before the upgrade).

Oops, I hit return before I was finished!
In short, does anyone have any ideas apart from those I've tried. One solution seems to be to go back to 10.6.4 - one of the other discussions seem to indicate that the probelm comes in with 10.6.8.
Thanks!

Forget about all the versions you already have (5.0 through to CS2). They will no longer work and the serial numbers are redundant.
Download the non-activation version of CS2 form the link provided by kglad and use the new non-activation serial number provided at that link. Your existing serial number(s) will no longer work.
Note: there is no guarantee that CS2 will run well on Win 8.1. Try it and see.

  • Mac Pro and Adobe CS2

Since I have been using Adobe CS2 on my Mac Pro, I have been having alot of crashes especially Indesign. Anyone else had problems and know of a way to fix it? I have updated all my software.

    Grant,
I've installed Windows XP Pro to run Photoshop CS2, Vue5 Infinite, and a number of other programs which have yet to be rewritten for Intel Macs as well as numerous Windows only apps. While it is true that Photoshop runs at a native speed on Windows, it runs just fine under Rosetta for me. I suspect it depends on the file sizes one works with and what your expectations are. Coming from an older G4, Photoshop with Rosetta is much faster than my old computer. Typically I work on 100 - 300mb images.
The original inquiry was about crashing issues and Version Cue is a real culprit and known issue as is running Photoshop and Illustrator concurrently. As I'll run just one at a time because of that issue and all my Adobe licenses are for specific apps rather than the suites so Version Cue was never an issue, I've not had a Adobe crash yet.

  • Canon USB support and Adobe CS2

I have a 17" 2.16 MacBook Pro. It came preinstalled with 10.4.6 I think the laptop is great, but the OS has broken some of my software applications. For example, I can no longer shoot tethered with my Canon 5D to the application Capture One. Nor can I shoot tehtered using Canon's software. I have been told by Canon and by Capture One that it is something that occured in 10.4.6 that no longer supports Canon's USB connection. Other users have said that it works in 10.4.5, but I cannot roll back to 10.4.5, because my machine came with 10.4.6 installed. Please tell me that this is something that will be fixed ASAP. Also, I have been having increasing difficulties with Adobe CS2 software. Crashes lots, or flat out refuses to open files. No support from Adobe yet and it appears like there wont be any time soon. I thought Rosetta could handle this stuff adequately. So What's Up With This?

CS2 worked fine and not even that slow (much better than an old G4 PB) when I was running it until CS3 came out. There is nothing endemic with MBP and CS2 at all.
Can the Canon connect to the MBP with USB for something simple like mounting for copying files over?

  • Intel iMac and Adobe CS2

    Greetings!
I recently purchased Adobe CS2 as well as Macromedia stuido 8. I was planning to upgrade to a new 20" intel iMac and I am curious about the performance of these products under rosetta. Anyone suggestions or additional info? Thanks
    -Sam

I've been using a 20" Intel 2 GHz iMac with 1 GB RAM now for just over a month and use Adobe CS2 on it and I'm incredibly disappointed with the performance of the software under Rosetta. So much so that I regret buying the Intel version and wish I'd bought a good old G5 processor model.
The main issue is speed. I upgraded from a Dual 866 mHz G4 and am encountering slower performance with CS2 on my new iMac than I did on that. Illustrator is especially excruciating to use. Another issue is that I can only run two CS2 apps at the same time never three. If I try, one of them randomly crashes. Reinstalls haven't cured it either.
I've called both Adobe and Apple in order to resolve the problem and neither have a solution. Adobe's view on it is that CS2 and earlier were not written to work on the Intel machine and so they cannot address any support problems with patches or updates. Their only solution is waiting until CS3 is released in Autumn which will be Intel compatible.
Based on this experience my advice would be to wait until CS3 is released before you buy one. Otherwise just grin and bear it if you have to have one now!

  • Anybody have a resolution for PRIAMOS file download using a Mac OSX 10.6.8 and Adobe Reader XI?

Does anyone have experience of the EU PRIAMOS file download system? I am experiencing difficulties in downloading files in Adobe Reader format ( I have set the default PDF reader to Adobe Reader).
The PRIAMOS system can only communicate with Windows 32bit - Mozilla Firefox 2 and higher or......
    IE 6 or 7
IE 7 or 8 (in compatibility mode)
    Supported PDF programmes are:
    Adobe Reader 8.1 or higher
My Adobe Reader software is the latest version (Adobe Reader XI for Mac with latest update as at 10 Sept 2013)
The PRIAMOS system does not officially support Mac computers, but PRIAMOS has been used successfully with OS X version 10.5.8 (Leopard) and Mozilla Firefox (2.5) (with built in PDF reader disabled and Adobe Reader enabled) and Adobe Reader 8.1
Any help would be gratefully appreciated

  • Using a MacBook Pro and Adobe CS2 and Macromedia Studio

I was planning on buying a MacBook Pro. Right now my Dell desktop has a 2.4ghz Celeron and I really want to get my first Mac. I'm sick of Windows!! I was wondering how Studio and CS2 (especially Photoshop, Dreamweaver, and Flash Pro) will run under Rosseta on the 1.83ghz compared to my Celeron? And how much RAM will I need?
      Windows XP   Slow Celeron

Cannot speak about CS2 for macs as I have only used it on Windows. When I bought my new mac I could only afford to buy one suite, so now I only use the Macromedia Studio package as this contains more of what I need. In particular it contains Fireworks (as a replacement for CS2) which is sufficient for the level of photo editing I need, plus I find it easier to create web graphics. Also I like the way it interacts with Dreamweaver and Flash sweetly. Maybe worth considering instead of CS2 if your budget is a little tight like mine was!
Now, Performance. The loading times are between 4 and 8 seconds, depending on the number of other processes I have running, which for Adobe products is fairly comparible to Windows I seem to remember. When loaded I bearly notice any lag times at all - occasionly when you try and do too many things too quickly you get the classic beachball for a few seconds, but as long as you are a little more calm when using them they are perfect - as good as on Windows I'd say.
Considering I have a 1.83 GHZ with only 1 GB RAM the performance left me very impressed. Can't wait for the Universal versions as they are going to be "screamers"!
PS - people have posted differences in performance when using Rosetta apps when using the same spec machines. So what someone may say using the same machine as you may not actually be what you experience...

  • O/S X 10.5 leopards and Adobe CS2

    Hello,
References : Go To : Adobe.com/ Upgrading to Leopard? Find out Adobe software compatibility
    Page 3
I have a new Mac Pro came with Tiger installed and a Leopard disk, and a G4 powerBook.
About using CS2 Illustrator and or Photoshop with Leopard.
I went for both computer to 10.5 update and CS2 was working fine on both. Still working fine on the Laptop.
But I had to erase my Mac Pro twice, Once because migration assistant put a mess, and a second the computer freeze at each startup.
So after erasing the disk I install directly 10.5, and here the problem start, when opening Illustrator I get the message Font missing and after that the pointer go back and forth to the colored ball time so you work at the speed of a snail or a turtle.I don't have this problem with my laptop.
If you have a problem reinstall Tiger, then update for Leopards.
I think is better to FireWire old and new Mac and copy/paste(drag) manually, and instal the application with the original disk (if you keep your old Mac as a target disk if you install an upgrade of CS 2 the Adobe installer will read your license key for the CS2 software, don't have to install all the original software specially if you started with Classic, mean Mac O/S 7 or 8 or 9)
    Why this Post?
When you buy a new computer a lot of money gone, Look at the questions in the discussion forum, about how memory I have to buy, so some people, like me, has to wait for the pricey CS3 upgrade.
    Hope this one help someone.
    Bye

Choose About this Mac from the Apple menu and check the processor.
If it's a Core Duo Mac, click here, install the DVD, and run Software Update.
If it's a Core 2 Duo or better Mac, follow the Core Duo instructions, and if desired, open the Mac App Store, and try downloading 10.9. If you get told it's incompatible, go to the online Apple Store and order a download code for Lion 10.7.
Mac OS X 10.7 and newer don't support PowerPC software such as Microsoft Office 2004. If you upgrade the OS, back up the computer first.

  • Security update and Adobe CS2 Suite

there is alot being said about this but i thought i would throw this out there, as it may be helpful.
i installed security update on intel macbook pro from software update. machine is nonresponsive, can move mouse but that is all. so i did an erase and reinstall of os. everything seems peachy. repair permissions, repair disk from dvd. reboot and install update. reboot again and repair permissions. check operations, mail, safari, etc. all is well. reinstall cs2 suite and halfway through install disk 2 my machine freezes up (all except the mouse as before).
start over, exactly same steps and exactly same results. halfway through install disc 2 of cs2 suite, freeze.
i am now reinstalling os and holding off on the security updates for a while.
not sure why this is happening , any thoughts?
p.s. when answering threads it is (in my opinion) bad etiquite to proceed your response with "uh..." sounds like "man, you must be stupid"
i.e. "Uh... did you backup your data first? did you repair permissions? jeez i can't believe i am even wasting my time, why don't you know that?" etc.
that is why people come to the forums to get advice/help and to learn. not to be insulted or harassed for making a mistake.

has anyone tried to reinstall w/o the adobe version cu? i am not doing it. i have wiped my system and reinstalled the os three times in the past two days. i can say pretty safely though that ,at least in my case, adobe suite is "the" problem.
i would say terminal hangup while installing the application on a 100% clean machine twice in a row is sort of obvious what the culprit is. but, for now, i will happily live w/o the update.

  • OSX 10.4.9 and Illustrator CS2

Has anyone heard of the 10.4.9 update creating similar problems with the pathfinder tools in Illustrator CS2 as 10.4.8 did? I'd like to update but only if it's safe. Last time I had to revert to 10.4.7 and don't want to go through that again!
    Grrr!

Personally. I have run the 10.4.9 updater and had no issues with Illustrator CS2 (12.0.1) pathfinder. I offer no guarantees, but everything is working fine for me.
In saying that, I also had no issues with 10.4.8 update!

  • Bug with BRAND NEW osx 10.8.3 and adobe Reader 11.0.03

    can you help??
i download a .pdf from internet to desktop, flash or harddrive then try to open but then get these error messages -- ON MY BRAND NEW COMPUTER
"There was an error opening this document. There was a problem reading this document (14)."
"There was an error opening this document. The root object is missing or invalid."
    thanks!!

This is a known issue with Safari 6 and the PDF plugin.
Download the offline installer from here: http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
Save it, but don't run it yet
    Go to: Mac HD/Applications
Trash the Reader 11 Application from there
    Go to: MacHD/library/Internet Plugins
    Trash the AdobePDFviewer.plugin from there
    Trash the AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin also
    Empty the trash
Mount the DMG and run the installer to reinstall Reader
When it finishes, reboot and open Reader from the Applications folder
Accept the License Agreement and then close Reader
Launch Safari and go to: Safari>Preferences
Under the Security Tab, make sure "Allow all other plugins" is checked
You should be able to view and download PDFs without any errors

  • Using Adobe CS2 on New Pro Book, Illustrator crashes consistently

I just got my MacBook Pro (3G RAM, 150G HD, External 120G HD, wireless mighty mouse, OSX 10.4.8) Installed Adobe CS2 Premium Edition.
Illustrator crashes every single time I use the Pathfinder tool (any filter).
Checked with Adobe, they say it is a problem between Illustrator and OSX 10.4.8 and I need to install 10.4.7, which they say will solve the problem.
How do I get a copy of 10.4.7 to fix this issue.
I will not go into how irritated I am that Adobe has not created an update to fix these incompatabilities or the fact that both Adobe and Apple know these problems exist yet do not mention it before you spend 3 grand on hardware or 1 grand on software. If an auto manufacturer did that they would be sued immediately. But since it is not my life, just my business that is in danger, who cares...
    I know I said I wouldn't go there, but I am steamed!

    Greetings,
We just received 12 MacPros that shipped with 10.4.8,
so taking them back to 10.4.7 is not a realistic fix for this 10.4.8 bug.
We did do all other suggestions we could find short of that, on Adobe support, and in these forums: update to Illustrator CS2 12.0.1, toss all the legal HTML files that had bad fonts, close the Appearance
palet then close Illustrator, toss the Illustrator plist file, repair permissions,
but only got marginal results. In files that have complex paths or raster files embedded, or are large dimensionally,
using the Pathfinder tools still crashes Illustrator.
Anyone have any new suggestions that could help us?? We use Illustrator quite a bit, particularly in signage, and this is almost a show stopper for even bothering to set these Macs up! Anyone gone back to CS on a MacPro?
I have sent a note to Apple Feedback requesting a fix.. 10.4.9??

Hello, I use MAC AIR OSX 10.6.8 and have Adobe CS2, that I was using 2 years ago on my older computer. I stopped using it because it would close down in the middle of work. Now I would like to reinstall it on the MacAir but I can not get it working. It tells Adobe doesnT support my System. But I can not update my old version or activate it. What can I do?

The mac you want to install photoshop cs2 on is running mac os x 10.6.8 Snow Leopard?
(photoshop cs2 won't run on intel macs with mac os x newer than snow leopard)
Did you ever have cs2 installed on this particular computer before?
If the problem is that you already installed cs2, but it won't activate, that's because adobe took the activation servers offline for some older adobe products such as cs2.
You'll need to use the non activation version of cs2 from here and the supplied serial number:
Activation server shut down for Creative Suite 2, Acrobat 7, and Macromedia products

  • OSX 10.4.6 / Adobe CS2  Install conflict?

I'm trying to install Adobe CS2 Premium. I've installed from this disk set on a number of G5's in our office successfully in the past. However, this was prior to OSX 10.4.6
I've attempted this install on 3 computers in my office. All PowerMac G5's running 10.4.6.
This CS2 installer runs fine without any errors. All of the programs startup fine with the exception of Illustrator. On closer inspection the Illustrator CS2 folder is missing a bunch of files. Only the first 3 files/folders are there.
    - Activation_ReadMe.htm
    - Adobe Illustrator CS2
    - Cool Extras
    These are all missing:
    - Demonstrator
    - Fonts
    - Illustrator Read Me.pdf
    - install.log
    - Legal
    - Plug-ins
    - Presets
    - Scripting
    - Utilities
When I called support we went through the process of installing it in safe mode, throwing away all the font lists. In the end we were never able to get it to install properly.
Then he recommended that I try to make disk images of the install disks and try to install from there. Now when I get to Install Disk #3 I get an I/O error and the disk image cannot be completed.
The tech then recommended that I get a new disk set. I've done that and the same thing is happening w/ the new disk set. On two of the computers I was able to copy the missing folders from one of the machines that have been properly installed and this has worked fine.
I would like to know if this is a known issue w/ OSX 10.4.6?

    Hi King of Pop!
I have installed the CS suite at least 20 times on 10.4.6 and it runs the applications fine. The only issue I had was with IDCS2 and the SING gaiji system and that was a permissions thing to a system resource - not the same thing you have.
I would take the Ilustrator CS2 app and trash it, reinstall it from the CD's. Be sure to empty the trash.
