OSX 10.6.8 New Shockwave 12 dosen't work

When installing Shockwave 12 for Mac Snow Leopard OSX 10.6.8, the install looks like is went through but when going to a Shockwave test page like the one on Adobe's test site, nothing displays...the normal Shockwave version# and is installed correctly message does not appear. Some sites work and some don't. Then when I tried the same Adobe's Shockwave Tester in Firefox the Shockwave 12 is installed message displays normally...once running Firefox the the message will display normally with in Safari..
I tried the same thing in 10.8 Mtn Lion and had no problems.

I did the boot as you suggested but found that only my Mac came up so I guess I never added or changed the boot to an external drive.
It is the external disk itself. It is not a bootable backup. The 3 classic ways to create a bootable backup are via SuperDuper, Carbon Copy Cloner, or Applications -> Utilities -> Disk Utility -> Restore.

In truth, I do not know if you can just order the correct replacement drive, or if you have to have the drive replaced by Apple or an Apple Certified Repair service.
I probably should talk to a genius and ask about the firmware issue.

Pairing is good. But more important is the correct bus speed and electrical characteristics.
The general consensus in the forum is to use Crucial.com or MacSales.com (aka OWC) for memory upgrades. You should be able to find instructions for replacing RAM at either of those web sites, or iFixIt.com, or just searching YouTube.com for videos. Replacing iMac RAM is not difficult.
However, replacing iMac internal disks is an "Adventure" (not for the "Faint of Heart" and is best done with 2 people) and requires some special tools. I got my tools from MacSales.com where I also purchased the SSD and the brackets that allowed me to install it in my DVD slot (I never used the DVD anyway, and now that software is mostly downloaded, even less useful to me, so an SSD was a great performance upgrade).
You will be able to find instructions for opening an iMac at iFixIt.com and there are lots of YouTube.com videos showing the process.
If you do not want to tackle opening pulling off the screen to get into the iMac, then it would be best to have an Apple Genius or Apple Certified Repair service do the work.

Most likely you have Office 2004 which are PPC-only applications and will not work in Lion. Upgrade to Office 2011. Other alternatives are:

Old movie will not play in new shockwave player

Hi, I have searched the forums, Adobe support and web in
general for help on this, but to my surprise have not found
anything. I created some Shockwave movies perhaps 5 years ago for
science education and have not used Director since then. I just
received a report that the movies are broken and will not play.
This is happening on WinXP in IE and in Firefox with the latest
Shockwave player installed, but the movies work fine on OSX 10.4.8
in Safari and Firefox, also with the latest Shockwave player
installed. I am not a Director developer anymore and do not own a
current version of the program, I am primarily a scientist and
educator. I'm hoping the problem is in the code that embeds the
movie, and that the movies are still compatible with the new

Music hardware is working me a little better now, I think it has strengthened the stability and gives no error messages.

The Director Shockwave Player can't play published Authorware content. You'd need the Authorware Web Player. However, it works on older Mac OSs.

Setting up OSX after installing a new SSD and moving HDD to optical bay

Hey all,
I know there are a tonne of other posts similar to this one in here, but I couldn't find the specific answers I was looking for.
Soon I'm going to remove my optical bay and put my current HDD in it's place, and install a brand new SSD where the original HDD once was. I'm comfortable with the hardware installation but am wary about what to expect on first power up afterwards.
I would like to ideally run OSX Mavericks and all of my apps (everything from Notepad to Premiere Pro) from the SSD, and leave all of my data on the HDD. I have an early 2011 13" Macbook Pro, model number A1278.
- When I first turn the computer on after the hardware switcheroo, what can I expect to see? How do I re-install OSX Mavericks onto the new drive? Am I right in thinking that Mavericks is merely an upgrade rather than a whole new OSX and that I will need to install Lion and then upgrade to Mavericks rather than just reboot immediately to Mavericks?
- How can I then remove Mavericks from the original HDD?
- Exactly which files do I need to move to completely relocate the apps to the new drive? Is it as simple as moving the entire applications folder over, or are there hidden files dotted all over the place that I need to consider also?

if your current HDD is a SATA III (6.0 Gb/s maximum throughput) drive, then you might find that you’ll have problems with it in the Optibay position. If this is the case, you’d probably be better off putting your SATA III drive into an external enclosure, and purchasing a SATA II (3.0 Gb/s maximum) drive to install in the Optibay.
If you have a SATA-to-USB or SATA-to-FireWire adapter, you can connect your SSD externally and format it with Disk Utility. After that, you could use a cloning utility to copy the contents of your internal HDD to your SSD (presuming that the SSD is at least as large as the amount of space currently used on your internal HDD), and then boot from the external SSD using Startup Manager to make sure that everything works well on it; that will save you from having to make sure that all of the scattered hidden files have been migrated. Once you’ve confirmed that your apps run well from the SSD, you can then install the SSD and move the HDD to wherever it’s going. An advantage of keeping Mavericks on your HDD is that you can boot from it if needed, e.g. should your SSD develop a problem.

LoadingSecondFile - Dosen't work

loadMovie() loads SWFs into _root.mc1.mc2, and I use the below method to be able to identify the selected movieclip. It works when I load the first SWF but when the second SWF is been loaded it dosen't work. What may be the cause for this.
I tried unloadMovie() and removeMovieClip() to clear the movieclip before loading the new file, but no success.

Does the iOS device connect to other networks? If yes that tend to indicate a problem with your network.
Does the iOS device see the network?
Any error messages?
Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on your router

- iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
- Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network

If still problem and it does not connect to any networks make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

A bunch of modules have changed for apache 2.2 and got new names etc, therefore you have to edit httpd.conf, take look at http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.2/new_features_2_2.html. For example, mod_access is now called mod_authz_host (with the new identifier authz_host_module, instead of access_module)

Sometimes a restart can fix this issue, but sometimes you have to fix the iTunes Library.itl file.
Try quitting iTunes, renaming the itunes file "iTunes Library.itl" to "iTunes Library Old.itl"
then open itunes again
This should generate a new library file.
From this point you can try two different avenues.
1. Re-add everything to your library by going to the iTunes file menu, and selecting "add to library"
2. You can try deleting the iTunes Library.itl you created, changing the name of the old file back to iTunes Library.itl
I hope this helps. I did something like this a while back and it worked for me.

NetInstall dosen't work for intel machines

When booting the machines in my lab while holding down the OPTION key, only the G5 and earlier machines are giving me the icon for NetInstall. NetInstall works great on the G5 and earlier, but dosen't work at all on any intel machine I've tried. The image is marked as "Universal" in Server Manager, and is an image from an intel MacBook.

You say that your NetInstall was taken from an Intel MacBook. Was its OS Leopard? If it is Leopard then you do have a bizarre problem on your hands as it is Universal. Tiger client, on the other hand, is not Universal.
How new are the target clients? Could they have been shipped with a build of Leopard newer than the one you've based this NetInstall on?

It dosen't work.

After I upgraded my Macbook Pro, Apple Store and Mail dosen't work. When I click on them it comes up a message where it stands that the progam can not start because of a program. I have to use Apple Store and the Mail, so this is a big probleme for me. I don't know what to do.. And I can not upgrade to the new operat system, cause I can't open Apple Store.
