OSX 10.6.8 will not open or save PDF
I run OSX 10.6.8 safari 5.1.5 Adobe Reader 10.1.3. I have deleted plug-ins with ref to PDF.
A black screen shows for any attempt to open a web PDF.
This was not a problem until a few days ago. I have saved PDFs before
Is your profile up to date. Are we talking about the basic 10.6.8 or the Combo updater below. The security and iTunes updates are still available to the best of my knowledge.
Takes a bit of time but try downloading and applying the link below, then going to software update. User my link so as not to get confused with the same name server version.

My Mac will not open any 'save' or 'open' dialog boxes
My mac will not open any 'save' or 'open' dialog boxes, this includes saving in photoshop and uploading photos to Facebook. The dialog boxes do not appear - please help?
Since you're running Lion, just try a new system install - it won't affect your data or apps, but you should, anyway, have a backup regardless.
Boot to your Recovery partition by holding down the Command and R keys whilst booting. At the Recovery window, first repair permissions again, then verify and, if necessary, repair your hard drive. Then quite Disk Utility and elect to reinstall the OS anew - it will only overwrite system files and the like, not touching your data, apps, etc. It may take awhile to complete.
After completion, reboot and see if the problem still exists. If it does, I'm just at a loss...

Iphone 4s on ios7 will not open or save ics email attachment
My iphone 4s on ios7 will not open or save ics email attachments so I can update my calendar. I have to open them on my PC and then iCloud will sync my updated calendar across all my devices with no problem. However, when I don't have access to my PC I would like to be able to open the ics calendar item (or save it) on my iPhone so I can see what meeting or conference I have been invited to so I can reply promptly and keep my calendar up to date without needing to wait till I have access to my PC.
The exact same thing described above is happening me too and by the looks of this and other forums, its happening alot of people.
I have tried restoring from new and a DFU restore and nothing works.
Think Apple need to own up that this is a real flaw with the iPhone 4 and offer a repair or recall. -
Safari will not open or download pdf files from web?
Safari will not open or downlaod pdf files from web? IS there a setting, or something else to do this?
Open browser preferences
ex Safari>Preferences>Extentions and un-enable any ext that mabe interferring , ex divX
or open Help> installed Plug-ins and remove Adobe Acrobat.
if still a problem
Quit Safari.
In the Finder, select Go ▹ Go to Folder from the menu bar, copy the text on the line below into the box that opens, and press return:
~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist
A Finder window will open with an item selected. Move the selected item to the Desktop, leaving the window open.
Launch Safari and test. Its settings will have reverted to what they were they first time you launched it. If it works as expected, recreate the settings and delete the item you moved to the Desktop. Otherwise, quit Safari again and put the file you moved back where it was, overwriting the newer one created in its place. -
Safari will not let me save pdf
im not sure but Safari 5.1.5 will not let me save pdf?
A couple of thoughts. It appears there may be two issues--one is saving a PDF that Safari has loaded in the browser window, while the second (which is the one John was talking about) is saving a standard HTML page as a PDF document.
For the PDF loaded in Safari: Is it possible you might have loaded up a third party PDF ready (like Adobe Acrobat Reader) that might have installed itself to handle PDFs in Safari? I've not checked, but wonder if that might disable the "normal" Safari options that would be available with Preview.
If the PDF is displayed, you should get a black box at the bottom of the window if you place the mouse cursor there while Safari has focus. While not perfect, if you select the far right icon it will save the PDF to your Downloads folder. If you select the second from the right, it will load the PDF into a stand-alone instance of your standard PDF reader and from there you would be able to save the file anywhere you want using a Save As command in the reader.
For HTML to PDF--that is controlled with the Print command, using the option at the lower left of the print dialog to print to PDF (which is the menu John showed you). That works for all files *except* PDFs (since printing a password protected PDF to a new PDF would effectively strip the password and would also strip out other features of the PDF, you aren't allowed to print PDFs to PDF). -

look in HD/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/ & move/trash the Adobe PDF viewer plugin; restart any browsers & things should behave again. -
Windows 7 PC will not open links from PDF docs or other things outside browser since update
Just finished update on 9/8 on one pc and 9/9 on the other. This has happened on two PCs now, both running Windows 7 one is 32-bit and one is 64-bit. When clicking on a link in a PDF it will give an error message and will not open in Firefox. Also clicking on "Launch Dropbox website" will not work. Anybody know what's causing this and how to fix it?
Make sure you have a local installation of a PDF reader available. I recommend against using the Adobe software and going to oldversion.com to download an earlier version of Foxit reader (I recommend with going something before the 3.4 version to avoid the annoying Ask.com adware that's associated with newer versions of Foxit. After you've installed Foxit reader, download a PDF file and save it to your downloads folder, open up Windows explorer, right click on the pdf file, select "Open With", click the box that says "always open files of this type with this program", then select Foxit Reader. That should solve your problem.

Gifs will not open or save in photoshop cc
I have been dealing with this problem for a month now, everytime I try to upload a gif, it says "could not complete Video Frames to layers because the file could not be opened." When I make a gif out of layers, it will only save as a jpg. What is wrong with my photoshop?
Try just using File > Open, and then Save for Web.

Using Firefox 11.0, Verizon Webmail.
Hi,
Please try a '''Ctrl''' + '''F5''' refresh. This helps to bring in the page afresh. If the problem persists, please try a [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Managing-profiles new profile]. If it's okay, you can later [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Recovering%20important%20data%20from%20an%20old%20profile?s=profile&r=1&e=sph&as=s copy the needed personal data] from the old profile. Adobe reader x will not let me save pdfs
i am a student so i need to save a lot of pdfs from databases like jstor. for some reason, adobe reader x will only allow me to save 1 pdf, after which if i click the save button on the next pdf i open nothing will happen. after a seemingly random period of time i am then able to save another pdf. this is terribly annoying, i need a fix. anyone know whats going on here?
after fiddling around a little bit, i find that if i "reset toolbars" it lets me save consecutively. this is still very annoying.I have spent two days at ti, but have finally resolved it myself. I deleted my Adobe Reader and installed an older version, and the problem disappeared. By the way, I also tried AR11, but the probelm was there too.

Hopefully someone can help!
Address book in Mac OSX 10.4.11 will not open for editing, viewing, etc. I can still access my contacts thru dashboard, mail, etc, however cannot open the address book application. Whenever i click the application to open, the add book icon appears on the dock, and then disappears almost immediately.
Any ideas? I've searched and searched on any ideas or downloads for this, but as i'm a very novice mac user, i really don't know where to start. PLEASE HELP!
Thanks.I too am having this problem. Address Book is the only app that seems to be affected, although Safari is also refusing to load pages from the Apple support forums of all things. I have no idea whether they are related.
I have Address Book in the dock. After booting, it bounces two times. In any further launch attempt it makes one bounce. I have mirrored drives and the backup on the second drive behaves the same way. Contacts are still visible via Dashboard. Permissions repair had no effect.
I opened Console and went to ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/AddressBook.crash.log. There I am told the reason for the crash:
Library not loaded: /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/YahooSync.framework/Versions/A/YahooSync
I've never used Yahoo and I sure don't want to sync with it, but I'm missing that framework. Sadly the Safari crash log is not nearly so easy to understand. Does anyone else have an equally readable Address Book crash log? -
Adobe Reader will not open PDFs
Adobe Reader will not open any PDFs. It will not open any new PDFs, downloaded from online, or old ones that have already downloaded and saved to a file. I have tried to repair Adobe Reader XI and reinstalled the most updated version. When I attempt to open a PDF, it tries to open it in Micrsoft Word, promting a file converstion (that fails).
What I get when I attempt to open or convert pdf to word.

----above----That looks like a perfectly good PDF, but since it's trying to open in Microsoft Word, that means your file association for .pdf files is incorrect. You should change it to point to Adobe Reader instead of Word.

IPhoto will not open since upgrading to OSX 10.8
Hi, has anyone come across this since upgrading to Mountain Lion. iPhoto will not open and I get the below error message. I was previously on OSX 10.6 with all updates applied to the OS. I upgrade the iPhoto app under iLife 11 on OSX 10.6 and it worked fine. Since I upgrade to the new Mountain Lion OS, iPhoto will not open. I tried to rebuild the library using the command and option (alt) key but it will not give me the option to rebuild. Should I attempt to delete the application and reinstall? Any assistance would be gratefully received. Many thanks.

Firstly, after reinstalling iPhoto, it requires me to upgrade via the App store, and then I get the below message. The odd thing is that my iphoto version is 9.2 whilst the upgrade from the App store refers to version 9.1. The version line item per the below message appears to have changed from the initial message in my first posting here.

I am running OSX 10.8.2 with Safari 6.0.2. Many videos will not open on Safari but open on Chrome. I have enabled javascript in Safari Preferences. I get a javascript void message when copying the link of the non-working videos. In one discussion about javascript problems in Mountain Lion a Java Preferences Ap in Utilities was used to fix the problem. I do not have a Java Preferences Ap in Applications\Utilities. I am stuck.
I am having a similar issue, except mine is with a military site. The military sites use java althroughout for downloading files/image. The problem is that it never gives me the notice to enable java for these sites.
I would like to have the ability to manually tell safari to allow java on a particular site so this isn't an issue.
This would solve my issue and allow a way to activate java on sites that don't give you the option to allow it.
