Hi,
The volume on my macbook pro gets randomly reduced automatically.. has anyone experienced the same issue? This is the first time it has done this, and it won't' seem to go away even after a restart. Anyone having the same problem, and if so what did you do to rectify this issue?
thanks,

When i use headphones the left side mutes randomly. If you have any suggetion what this can be please reply thank you very much!

I have the same problem, and a tip for a slight fix.
I believe this changed with either iOS 4 or the iPhone 4, but since I switched to both very close to each other, I wasn't sure which was the culprit. From reports of others using 3G or Touch 3's I now believe it is iOS 4. The sound on iOS 3 was close to perfect, but still a hair too loud.
The partial fix I recommend involves another change. The EQ settings previously did not seem (to my ears) to reduce the sound, only "Flat" would make the sound slightly less noticeable, so I would use this along with the one volume notch to listen to music while going to sleep. (With iOS 3, I could also listen with no EQ set, and no volume notches and still hear the music. This would usually be my last setting before falling asleep.)
The EQ settings now all seem to significantly reduce the overall sound volume. Remembering my previous use, I have experimented with the new iOS volume and EQ settings. While one notch is still too loud, using one of the EQ settings helps attenuate the sound slightly. I recommend "classical" as the best option that reduces the sound significantly but does not distort the music noticeably.
This is one of those annoying features like the mouse movement on the Mac that infuriates a lot of people, that Apple will likely ignore and never do anything about.

  • How to remove Snow Leopard (or any OSX system) from a volume

    Hi,
when I installed Lion I cloned my Snow Leopard system on another volume, in case I would encounter problems. Since then this second but unused system resides on that volume, beside other files.
How can I remove Snow Leopard without erasing all of the files. Does deleting the OSX folder Users, Library, System, Applications and so on do the trick? Are there any invisible folders ? Is there an app, that can do it?
    Thanks in advance!
    Philipp

Click on the spotlight logo in the top right, search disk utilitys, select the 10.6 partition then erase it

  • Has a fix been posted for OSX Lion causing Invalid Volume counts?  Post installing OS Lion the new Recovery volume disabled my ExFAT volume shared with Bootcamp

I'm running a dual boot environment with OSX and Win 7.   Before upgrading to OS Lion I had three partitions setup, one for OS SL, WIn7 and a shared ExFAT volume for multual file sharing between the OSs(Worked great!). After upgrading to OS Lion my shared volume was blocked out from Windows but remained visible to Lion.  The Partition boundaries appear to be currupted by the newly added "Recovery HD" Partition that comes along with the Lion installation.  This inserted volume has also started a chain of error in Disk Untility indicating "Invalid Volume File Counts".   This can be cleaned up by Disk Utility using the installation CD or ironically the Recovery HD partition.  The repair is only good for one reboot than the invalid Volume error returns.  Windows seems fine outside of the lost shared volume but if you try to format the free space left behind by the partition issue major issues happen.  Formatted actually creats a Dynamic disk switch and toasts all three volumes.   OS Lion seems to be a wounded animal as I now have to reboot twice to get Lion to load up after setting up bootcamp.  The problem is the partitions and OS Lion new Recovery HD.  What I need is a fix to stabilize the OS Lion partition and restore the shared volume.
    Pete

There are hundreds of postings describing your error and how to resolve it so I won't rehash those here. Use the search at the top right of this page to search for your error.
But I will advise you that Windows 7 32bit will not work satisfactorily for you. You said you have 8GB ram. 32 bit Windows will not address more than about 2.5GB to 3GB of your ram. You need to install the 64 bit Windows 7 in order for Windows to use all your ram.
When you bought the retail Windows 7 operating system it should have had two disks in the package, one being 32 bit and the other being the 64 bit version of Windows 7.

  • N73 4.0747.31.0.1 volume reduced?

Has anybody else noticed that the volume has been reduced on the music player using the original headphones/mic after applying Version 4.0747.31.0.1?
The volume on the right earpiece seems to have dropped more than the left. (It's not my hearing or the balance settings, before somebody asks; I've tried them back-to-front too.)
Also does anybody know where the list of fixes / enhancements is for this upgrade?
The official list doesn't include this version...

Haven't these people ever been on a bus or a train, or even walked down your average city street? I can bearly hear my music over the noise, now. Perhaps the legislation should have been applied to noise polution first!
Anybody else experiencing this imbalance in volume levels?
How do I make a complaint so they can fix it in the next version release?
How do I revert to the previous firmware version release?
Any help and other people's comments muchly appreciated.
I am furious about this . Just bought the n73 music and man it sucks you can actually hear your own breath when volume is %100. Very disappointed from Nokia, apple proved it self much smarter with the adult volume limit. You buy a music phone and you can not use for music. I don't think I going with nokia again waisted my money. I am just furious.

  • Itrip volume problem: volume reduces to zero when itrip attached to 3rd Gen

I've had a 3rd Gen ipod for some years and a (new style) itrip with silver selector button for about a year. Both have been working together fine until recently.
I'm based in the UK, went on a trip to the USofA recently and while there my itrip would not work. Every time i plugged it in the ipod volume would automatically reduce to zero. Thought this may be because i was using it in another country but the problem has persisted back in the UK.
Other online sources indicate it could be a problem with the itrips auto-adjustment of volume to reduce FM distortion but even with starting volume low (20% - 50%) the same reduction occurs.
Anyone else experienced this? ...any fix available?
    thanks,
    paul.
ipod 3rd Gen   Windows XP   itrip (with silver button and display)

Hah! I found the problem. It isn't with the Apple hardware or software. If I sync my iPod the problem goes away. If I restart it, the problem goes away. After talking with an Apple Expert I concluded that the problem must be with one of my third party apps and I determined to start checking them out to find the offender. Turns out a fun little game from the App Store called Parachute Panic is the culprit. It is repeatable that when I launch that app when music is playing the volume slider in the Music app goes bonkers. I'll report the bug at once.

  • Itunes volume reduces when visiting different web pages

I just started noticing that whenever I visit any page that has some kind of built in sound (even if it's some embedded video that's not playing) while playing music the volume for my itunes gets reduced to almost zero.
The actual volume bar in the itunes program doesn't move, but level for itunes in the windows audio mixer (I'm using windows 7) automatically gets dropped, and I have to manually increase it. It's gotten really annoying since it seems to do this almost everytime I navigate to a different page.
Does anyone know how to make this stop happening? Thanks!

You have discovered a new feature of Windows 7! To adjust it, go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Sound > Manage Audio Devices, and look at the "Communications" tab. (Yes I know that is a lot of clicking!) The default setting is to reduce volume 80% when something new comes in, but you can adjust it on that tab.

  • OSX not loading webpages.. happens randomly.

At random times, I am unable to load certain webpages on my Macbook Pro, running 10.6.4.
I am on my home network, my ISP is Road Runner through Bright House, and I am connecting wirelessly via a Belkin F6D4230.
Other computers in the home are able to access the same websites, which leads me to believe that this is a DNS issue. I have flushed my DNS cache several times, tried different web browsers, and even tried using the IP addresses for the website instead of the URL. Using the IP address works, but once I try to advance through the webpage, I run into the same results.
Does anyone have any ideas? This is incredibly frustrating for me.

Are the other computers Macs running the same operating system?
Have you tried loading the said websites bringing your Mac to a WiFi hotspot like a coffee shop? Some Mac operating systems don't like it when wireless routers don't have firmware updated. Testing it outside that area, would indicate if the issue is connecting with the router, or with the Mac in question.

  • Volume changing randomly; driving me nuts

    Hallo all.
What am I pressing by mistake to make the track volume shoot up and down? Is it a multitouch feature? I've experimented but i can't work it out. It's not that the volume is being altered automatically; it seems I'm inadvertently doing something when my cursor is over the track; what can it be? anyone have any ideas? It's driving me crazy!

ah. Thanks. I know this. I'm using a trackpad and I know that when I use two fingers over the volume it will change but it appears to be changing even when I'm not over the volume. Happens occasionally in Logic too.
thinking about it, I have got Better Touch Tool so that might be the problem.
But does anyone know a way to turn multitouch off in Garageband anyway?

  • System volume (and therefore ringing volume) reduces when recieving an incomming call

I set all volumes to full in Lync ,as well as the system master volume. Soon as a phone call comes in I can see the volume slider move to from 100% to around 50%. This is
very werid and is happening on multiple PC's. It started when I upgraded from the Communicator client to the Lync client.
    Any ideas on this weirdness??
    Thanks,
    Andrew

    Hi Andrew,
If you wanna get 100% volume, do as follows.
    1.
Open "Volume Mixer – Speakers" and move the slider bar to 100.
    2.
Make a call. And in the conversation window, click "Adjust volume or mute speakers" icon, and move the slider to 100.
    Next time,
when you make a call, the volume will be 100%. Please have a try.
    In addition, provide this
    article for reference. Hope useful.

  • Automated Volume Reducing

Hello friends, so I've been watching some movies lately and I noticed that the sound volume is some times very low and then suddenly it go's crazily high depending on the action that's happening in the movie, ok It could mean that the quality of the movie is high, but it's really annoying  when I have to turn it down every now and then manually, especially when I have the computer plugged into a surround system, So do you guys know any type of a mod I can do for my mac or maybe a good application, Just like the option some TV's have, Thank you.

There might be apps that will do that, but I do not use them nor would I recommend any because it's a task that ought to be performed by your sound system.
The most popular audio-altering app that appears frequently on this site is this one:
    https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/boom-experience-best-audio/id415312377
Read the very first Customer Review for one reason I don't recommend such things. Here it is in case the above link doesn't work where you are:

  • (OSX) We have device licenses, but random Macs stop working and demand sign in.  Signing in allows trial activation.

    OSX 10.9.x
We have device licenses which we have deployed via Deploy Studio image, however occasionally a single Mac in a classroom will refuse to load Creative Cloud apps and demands that the user signs in with an Adobe ID.  If a valid Adobe ID is used (even the one attached to our account that was used to download the device licenses) then we get the option of activating a trial mode.
All Macs have Internet access, and CC has only been installed over the last few months.  Re-imaging resolves the problem, but is a bit overkill as a solution.
Is anyone else seeing this behaviour?

    Hi screen-name-pf ,
We need to see the PDApp.log and amt3.log file of the machine where the install is failing to tell you the reason of failure. The log file is formed at /usr/Library/Logs/PDApp.log.

  • Audigy 2 ZS random sound volume cha

I've had an Audigy 2 ZS for some time now, and I've just installed Inspire p5800 5. speakers. With the regular single-channel computer speakers, everything was fine. After installing the 5. speakers, the volume will randomly reduce. I can still hear the sound, but it's very quiet.
I've checked the wiring. I've followed the procedure to uninstall and reinstall everything. Nothing has changed.
    Thank you.

Well, as no one responded, I take it this issue was something undocumented. I've found that the issue wasn't with wiring or my card, but with power. It seems the speakers lose power, and as a result, the sound fades. The sound can be brought back by flicking the volume control, but usually the sound will still fade. I'm not exactly sure how to fix this, though, as the sound still varies.
Unplugging the center speaker gave the whole system a boost. Does anyone know a solution to this? I'm going to check my surge protector and reorganize the plugs. If someone knows, please reply.
    Thank you

I don't know if it's a Firefox update or OSX update, but I started getting random crashes. Here are a few links to the reports:

I tried googling that but I just get results to other crash reports. Could anyone help me out and see if they can tell what the issue is? (I already checked that the plugins are all up to date)

    First try Safe Mode:
'''Try Firefox Safe Mode''' to see if the problem goes away. [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode|Firefox Safe Mode]] is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily turns off hardware acceleration, resets some settings, and disables add-ons (extensions and themes).
'''If Firefox is open,''' you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu:
    * Click the menu button [[Image:New Fx Menu]], click Help [[Image:Help-29]] and select ''Restart with Add-ons Disabled''.
'''If Firefox is not running,''' you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:
    * On Windows: Hold the '''Shift''' key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    * On Mac: Hold the '''option''' key while starting Firefox.
    * On Linux: Quit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run ''firefox -safe-mode'' <br>(you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)
When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "Start in Safe Mode".

'''''If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode''''', your problem is probably caused by an extension, theme, or hardware acceleration. Please follow the steps in the [[Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems]] article to find the cause.
