Osx 10.7 incompatibility

Is there going to be any update to Mac Labview for Mac OSX 10.7.
NI-VISA 5.0.0 does not install on 64 bit OS and most of Labview quits expectedly running some VIs
I have Labview 2010, 32 bit installed
Most of the Arduino VIs also cause unexpected quits!!

Good morning,
Thanks for the question.  I understand that it's really frustration to upgrade to a new OS and find many of
your projects failing.  For the time being, this document describes current compatibility issues.
Additionally, for help with Arduinos specifically, please try the forums at ni.com/arduino as they may have more wisdom about compatibility with Lion.
If you feel strongly about this issue, feel free to share it at NI Idea Exchange!

    Try reinstall iPhoto:
    To re-install iPhoto
    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5:  Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows:  In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
    /var/db/receipts/
    2c: on 10.7 they're at
    /private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
    3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store or have a Recent Mac you can find it in your Purchases List.
If that fails then I think you need to reinstall the OS.

  • Possible consolidation incompatability between Vista and OSX ?

I want to use the same library with my iTunes sessions in Vista and OSX.
The library is located on an external HD.
iTunes is configured on both platforms to keep music organized. I used the consolidate feature to initially move the music from the OSX partition to the external HD. No problem there.
But then when I pointed my Vista session of iTunes to the new library, it wanted to organize the music again. Assuming it would not do much since I had just consolidated from the OSX side, I allowed it to proceed. Now most of the music on the OSX session has exclamation points, indicating that the music had been moved and the pointers are lost.
Is there an incompatibility between consolidation methodologies between OSX and Vista versions of iTunes? Is it not possible for me to have iTunes from differences operating systems manage the same library?
I appreciate any help with this...

    dbustani wrote:
So if I turn off "keep organized", how do I in fact keep things organized as I rip CD's from both platforms?
When you rip a CD, iTunes will put the tracks in proper "organized" (Artist/Album) location. However, the second iTunes will not know it is there. You can either (a) add the new files manually to the second iTunes, via File > Add Folder to Library, or (b) run a 3rd party folder-watching program such as iTunes Folder Watch that will add them automatically as they appear. Disclaimer: I have not personally used that program, so read up and make sure you are happy with it.

  • OSX 10.5.8 and Mail incompatibility

    Hope someone can help!
Have been using Mail 3.6 with 10.5.8 OK but installed a software update several days ago and since then Mail won't open and the message: "You cannot use this version of the application Mail with this version of Mac OSX" appears.
The folder Last Software Update shows the updates were: GarageBand, iWeb, iTunes and MacOSX Update Combined. The OSX update showed the string<key>zzzz041-0488</key> if that's a help.
Have restored an earlier back-up of Mail with the same result.
Can anyone offer an explanation and fix please?
    THX

When I check Mail from the Applications Folder, it tells me that I have Mail 3.0.
    That's the real version number.
I guess the main question is: has my OS somehow corrupted or is there really a problem between the OS and Mail versions as per the original message?
For reasons that may be hard to determine, you have mismatched Mail versions. However, I wouldn't suspect that updater. Please download and install the OS X 10.5.8 "combo" updater:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL866
Should I consider reinstalling my OS? I don't want to lose all my files etc!
Unless you pick the "erase" option, that won't happen. But try the "combo" updater first.
Would the custom install option (for Mail only) delete my mailboxes etc?
I'm not sure what "custom install option" would allow installing Mail only.

  • OSX or Logitech driver incompatibility with sounds from web

If sound comes from certain websites,
OSX (or Logitech driver) have a problem outputting it to the proper port.
    I sent feedback to Apple,
but I wonder if anyone else has experienced this or have any comments?
    Giovanni
    ====== DETAILS========
    For sounds from certain websites,
If headset is connected to USB port,
    SystemPreferences>Sound>Output
does not honor "Line Out" user's selection.
    Problem steps:
    1) Connect:
Speakers ("Line out") to Built in audio port
Logitech USB Headset to USB port
    2) Verify
AppleMenu>SystemPreferences>Sound>Output is set to "Line Out"
    3) Play sound using some applications and websites
(for example iTunes, Skipe, http://www.apple.com, etc)
Verify sound comes out of speakers as expected
    and SystemPreferences>Sound>Output's
Mute or Output Volume settings respond as expected.
    So all hardware works.
    4) Play sound from other websites
    (for example http://antoniocarlosjobim.brazilmaxmusic.com)
Verify sound mistakenly comes out of Headset.
    (and SystemPreferences>Sound>Output
does not respond to Mute or Output Volume changes).
    5) Issue is the same for many browsers (Safari, FIre Fox, IE).
Thus, it is not a browser issue.
It happens for sounds from movie or music files.
Thus, it is no a specific file format issue.
It seems likely a Logitech driver/OSX issue
(or we can always blame the websites)
    System: iMac 20" 1.8 GHz G5
    Mac OS X 10.4.6
Software Update: Your Software is up to date.
iMac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   Logitech USB Headset Version: 10.13

Yes, ideally all websites would follow W3C standards.
    But many don't.
Until then, as you suggest, we should:
    1) send a note to the site informing that they should test on both Platforms and
not following standards hurts them before a growing base of users.
As Mac's market share increases (as it is positioned to do),
web masters will get better at testing their sites on both Platforms, and
glitches like this are less and less likely to occur.
But it is not enough to blame the website and
expect the consumer to pick a fight with all non-compliant web masters
(I can't imagine my dad, or the majority or non-technical people, doing this).
That would let the consumer have bad user experience that wastes everyone's time.
This is not "it just works", and ultimately hurts Apple's reputation for most consumers.
In cases like this, I believe it is also important to:
    2) send a note to Apple so they are aware of the glitch and can write more robust driver
to handle non-compliant sites gracefully like Logitech did.
This will give "it just works" user experience.
Mac is vastly superior to Windows in nearly every respect and already handles most non-compliant situations great.
This is a really a minor issue (but real, so ball is also on Apple's court to look at).
    3) acknowledge the glitch, so we all aware of the facts.
That way Apple will look at fixing it and
consumers will have a workaround (use the headset)
and know it is a known issue they don't need to waste time and aggravation investigating.
In summary, until apple fixes the driver, send note to website and use headset.

  • Office 365 for Mac OSX 10.9.1 Maverick incompatibility?

Just found a solution which involves resetting the printer settings:
    To Reset the Printer Setting:
    1) Open "System Preferences"
    2) Select the "Print & Scan" pane
    3) Right click (or control click) anywhere in the "Printers" window (in the white space below any of your existing printers)
    4) Select "Reset Printing System..."
That will reset the printing settings, and should happen immediately. You'll know if it worked because any existing printers you had previously set up will disappear from your printers list. Once the system has been reset, click on the "Add printer" button and add the printer that you're trying to add.
As any other printers you had previously added are deleted you'll have to add them again.
    Hope that helps

  • OSX server + Private Network (and NAT) + Airport Extreme: Incompatibility ?

DHCP on Airport Extreme (AE) prevents some private network configuration.
    *Imagine the following:*
    - An AE that shares a public IP for your private network (NAT) => DHCPd is on (not an option)
    - A Mac Mini with snow leopard and some services activated (Calendars, Wiki, Open Directory, ...) and a DNS with a private domain (e.g. you server is called: minisrv1.private)
    - Client with account linked to an account on the OSX server
    *Your problem:*
You can't activate a DHCP server on your OSX server: it will conflict with the one in your AE.
All your DHCP clients will get your AE address as DNS server and consequently wont be able to resolve any of your private addresses in your private domain
Your server will advertise all it's services with private domain's addresses
*==> All your client machines will get un-reachable services information (like iCal cannot connect to iCal server minisrv1.private)*
A solution might be to "trick" down the DHCP on the AE:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=121990
Message was edited by: Philippe Rochat

I don't believe your analysis is correct.
You're right that when using the AirPort Extreme as an edge router connected to your ISP, and using NAT/DHCP to share its connect, the AE will configure all clients to use the AE as the DNS server (it actually acts as a DNS proxy).
However, it is still entirely possible to use your own, internal, private DNS server for those clients.
You see, the AE has its DNS server configuration in the Internet tab - this is where the AE will direct all DNS lookups, including those from DHCP clients.
Your solution is to just tell the AE to use your internal server for its DNS. That way it will be able to resolve your .private domain, and will enable all DHCP clients to do the same.

  • I have updated OSX  10.7 Lion. to find Power PC Apps are no longer supported. I can no longer access my Word documents nor can I access my Entourage Emal files. Any suggestions?

I am not at all smart when it comes iMac App's.
Having upgraded to 10.7 Lion, find that I cannot open any word documents , nor can I gain access to my Entourage email folders. I am now left feeling thatthis is really not my era.
I am an old guy attempting to keep up the young guy's technology and no longer have  idea what I am  doing.
I have managed to start anew with Mail.
But have no idea how to find or proceed without the  now unsupported Microsoft Word application.
Where can I find  a replacement for Word, and how may I ever be able to get into my old Word Documents?
Since upgrading from Snow leopard I find that I am unable to get  my Seagate hard drive selected  as a location for  Time Machine back-upswhen running through  System Preferences.
Any help on these issues would be greatly appreciated
Please excuse any lack of ettiquitte in this submission, I am new to this culture.

Thanks Barney, I am now using pages to open exisiting Word documents. and then saving in the new format. I then trash the old incompatable (.doc) file.
This works OK, but it will be a time consuming operation to be repearted on each file that I use.
Is there any shortcut to enable sync all of the .doc files to Page?
I have not managed to recover Entourage email files . But now use Mail application, which is fine.
    Encountered problems are ongoing.
I have an Epson Epson Stylus Photo Rx430 printer.
Since upgrading to OSX10.7 print files do not load to the printer. The Epson job box shows data is being sent to printer but it the task is never completed.
I take this to be a Printer  Driver issue.
Today, I have been in contact  with Epson Printer support, enquiring if they have any driver updates for RX430 that would be compatable with OSX10.7 Lion.
I was notified by Epson that they do not have any drivers for any of their printers for the new OSX 10.7.
How may I  continue using my now unsupported Epson printer?

  • Updated to 14.0 and no longer can access firefox on my mac OSX--help!

Firefox urged me to update from 3.6 to 14.0, so I did. At the end of the process I was told that "14.0 is not compatible with your OSX system". I have since been unable to access Firefox, and lost all my bookmarks and other info. Also, my computer is slow since then (I"m using Safari). I hope you can help me reverse this, or do what is necessary to get back to Firefox.
I think you should alert people to this incompatibility before urging them to update! Thanks very much.

Current versions of Firefox won't work on Mac OS X 10.4 - see [[Firefox no longer works with Mac OS X 10.4 or PowerPC processors]] - so if you were urged to update Firefox on your Intel Mac OS X 10_4_11 computer, that's a Firefox bug.
You can return to Firefox 3.6 to get access to your bookmarks and other profile data by removing the firefox.app for Firefox 14 and reinstalling Firefox 3.6, which is still available from http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all-older.html

  • Can I get iPhone 3GS backup off of an iMac running OSX 10.5 to restore the data on a new iPhone 5?

I bought a new iPhone 5 for my wife because her old 3GS was at its end.  I made sure to back up the old phone on her old iMac running OSX 10.5.  Got the new phone home plugged it in to the computer and failure ensued... Can't sync because the iTunes is too old, can't upgrade iTunes because the computer is too old... I have a backup on the computer is there any way to move it to my newer iMac running 10.8 to get some of her data back?  I tried to think ahead by backing up but failed to think about incompatibility issues... Any help would shorten my time in the doghouse,

You can certainly move the backup files but that will do nothing for the apps or media that is on the device.  Backups do not contain apps or media.
Where iTunes backups are stored on your computer
The folder where your backup data are stored varies depending on the computer's operating system.   Make sure the backup folder is included in your periodic data-backup routine.
iTunes places the backup files in the following places:
    Mac:  ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
For the apps and media it will be necessary to move the ENTIRE iTunes folder from the old computer to the new computer.  Creating a new user account on the new computer would be a good idea if you both use iTunes and want to keep your media seperate.

  • What iPhoto version is compatible with Lion OSX 10.7.5 and will it let me make photo calendars?

What iPhoto version is compatible with Lion OSX 10.7.5 and will it let me make photo calendars?
I have just upgraded from Leopard to Lion (via Snow Leopard) because I could no longer order photo calendars with iphoto 7.1.5.  However, I still have iphoto 7.1.5 and need to upgrade this.  From the App store it looks as though I cannot get iphoto 9.5.1 due to the incompatibility with Lion.  I was recemmended not to upgrade beyond Lion due to the age of my iMac computer (2008 version) by Stormfront staff.
What is the best iphoto to upgrade to and how do I do this e.g. iLife '09 or '11, or are there any other 'stand-alone' versions of iphoto that would be compatible?  How do I know whether my computer is capable of upgrading to Mountain Lion?  I definitely want to be able to make photo calendars, books and cards.
    Thanks

iPhoto '09 or '11 - purchase an iLife '09 or '11 DVD (amazon or eBay are potential sources) and install iPhoto and update to the latest version for your OS

  • Reinstalling OSX mountain lion

My computer is acting strangely and stops all the time to work - I can hear lots of little hard drive sounds and it is very slow until it is done (usually about 10 minutes), and my Adobe CS products are crashing and creating corrupt files that keep stopping.
I tried to reinstall the system today - I couldn't use the installer that came with the computer because I have installed Mountain Lion since.
I tried installing from the 'Install OSX Mountain Lion.app" file, and it went through the motions and said it was installing, but now it appears to be exactly the same - normally I would get the welcome screen and have to configure things.  It did not give me an option to do a clean install.
How can I do a new installation to get rid of the existing problems on this computer? It is only a year old (iMac i7) and has 8 gb of RAM so it shouldn't be so slow. My laptop is the same and is much faster.
    thanks for any help.

I couldn't use the installer that came with the computer because I have installed Mountain Lion since.
FWIW (and future reference), you should be able to install the original system (if it was Lion):
If you use internet recovery (Command + Option + R), then the original OS version will be reinstalled after you wipe the drive.
If you use recovery (Command + R) the current OS version will be reinstalled.
If the originally installed OS version same with install disks (Snow Leopard or earlier), you can boot from that disk; however, in order to revert, you will need to wipe the drive first.
And, since you want to get rid of "existing problems", starting over with a clean install is best. You do not know if your problems are only caused by the OS or possibly some incompatibility of third party software which would not be fixed if you simply reinstall the OS over the top of what you have.

  • External DVD Drive not working with osx 10.8.5

Hi, I'm having issues with my MacBook Pro 15" 9,1 working with an external DVD drive.  I am running OSX 10.8.5 and have been troubleshooting this issue for a few weeks.  The optical drive itself is the original drive that came with the computer, but I have put it in an external enclosure to free up space inside the body of the MacBook Pro.  The drive seems to function fine with CDs (playing and ripping - haven't tried burning yet) but is extremely inconsistent/barely functional with DVD playback.  Only one DVD in my collection properly works - others bring up error messages in multiple programs (VLC, Wondershare, the native DVD application, etc.) and another continuously loops back to the main menu each time "Play Feature" is selected.  These are a variety of DVDs that range from obscure to commercial and old to new (the oldest and most obscure is the only one that works).  After deciding that it is not the programs, I replaced the enclosure.  I still had the same exact issues.  I reset PRAM - no solution there.  I created a new user on my computer, installed the same media players and had the same luck.  I then used the same external drive on my old MacBook Pro 15" (5,4 running OSX 10.6.8) to see if it would work there.  It worked perfectly (with the native DVD application).  What is going on here and how can I get my new computer to recognize the external DVDs reliably and consistently?

older superdrives were Hitachi mfg, new ones are Panasonic.  Since yours is new and panasonic, indications are it wont work thru the enclosure on your NEW macbook, rather as you state on your older Mac.
until you said it worked fine on the old machine, the logical conclusion is a dirty lens on the laser since it reads CDs fine but most DVD not, since the track is much smaller.
Considering a new superdrive is only $48 on ebay ,or $78 for a new superdrive, your frustration might be too much, and just grab a new superdrive.
Your detailed information indicates a firmware incompatibility of the panasonic superdrive thru an enclosure
This is the new superdrive, made by panasonic as you have in your enclosure:
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/221280580133?lpid=82
of course thats a lot of trouble buying that AND an enclosure, easier still is just getting a Mac superdrive inside its working enclosure designed for use as such:
