OSX Driver for Mitsumi Combo Drive?

I bought a Mitsumi DW-7801TE DVDRW/CDRW and put it into a external USB case. It works for simple things like reading CDs, commercial DVDs and burning CDr's with Toast, but will not recognize blank DVDr's (finder pops up and says the drive is not supported) and will freeze up and crash osx completely on occasion when importing to iTunes. Are there any updates or drivers i could install? thanks.

If this behavior is intermittent, I would think it is a hardware problem.
Can you return functionality to the drive by removing the optical drive, then reinserting it while the 'book is running? These media bay devices are hot-swappable.
Or can you return functionality by sleeping the 'book, then waking?
I cannot recall if the 820E needs the "solder-fix" for full functionality. Will the drive boot a CD by pressing the 'c' key? Does the powerbook freeze when waking from sleep? These are two symptoms of an optical drive that is set to slave or cable-select.

Open the Get Info window for the old drive. Click the Lock icon on the bottom of that window and type in your password. In the permissions area click the Plus sign ( + ) and Add your Username to it and set it to Read & Write. Close that window. you should now have full access to all the files.

I am getting strange results on my Beige Tower running 9.2.2 (G3-366 MHz, 640 Mb ram, 6 Mb Vram, 30 gig Maxtor ATA HFS+, PCI ATI Rage 128, PCI XClaimPRo, PCI USB - not used, AppleTalk 1.1, AppleShare 3.9.2, CarbonLib 1.6, QuickTime 6.0.2).
When I use the Chooser to AppleShare connect to another machine (G4 mirror door) a type 1 error occurs and the finder notifies me to quit running applications and restart. I was getting a type 2 error the same situation but cured that by turning off the RAM disk.
After I restart, the program MyInvoices, operates incorrectly.

I was thinking I should wipe the drive and downgrade to 9.1. If I do, what formatting should I use for the hard drive (HFS+)?

Using TechTool Deluxe 2.5.4 on the simple test all systems pass, fpu, ram, (even my over clocked) processor, drive.
Tried TechTool again standard test, Ram only, system froze following the Vram test. Mouse moves cursor, clock stops.

Beige G3 lost connection to OSX drive

Hello, i have had a whole legion of problems with my dad's old g3 for a while, many of which had to do with different cards not staying plugged in, and recently, while trying to find out why the computer wasn't displaying on the monitor (video card was unplugged), i took out and put back in a few things i don't think i should have, such as the two rams, and a card that i didn't recognize next to the ram that looked similar to the ram with a sticker that says 8x64 sync (didn't know if that was important). Now comes the part that depresses me. I reboot the computer after getting the video card back in, and it automatically boots into OS9, which it has always had problems doing, so I was kind of worried, and sure enough once the desktop comes up a window pops up that says the OSX drive couldn't be recognized and i would have to reformat it to get it connected. I guess the hd is "partitioned", i'm not sure if that is the correct phrase or not, but one part of it is the OS9 part, and the other the OSX part. I am assuming that I did this by taking out the ram or something, but now I can't fix it because if i try to boot using the panther system disks (which are the correct ones), or try installing the OS, on boot up the screen just goes gray and nothing happens. Is there a way for me to fix this without erasing the data on the OSX part of the drive, or have I completely screwed myself?

Removing and reinstalling the RAM and VRAM shouldn't cause any problems. If you are changing hardware or adding new components, you may need to reset the CUDA switch, near the back left beside the PCI slots just to get it to startup. If you are just having boot problems, think about getting a new PRAM battery.
With boot problems like this, the data on your disc is probably still fine, if anything it may just need some minor repairs with Disc Utility, but a total reformat probably is not necessary. It's good that you can boot into another partition into OS 9. You should be able to boot from the Panther install discs, it may take a very long time to load everything from the OS X CD, much longer than from an OS 9 disc.
I think you could run Disc Utility from either the OS 9 partition or the OS X install disc. Maybe an expert could give a recommendation if either one is better.

That's not quite the proper way as far as I can tell. Usually, one boots directly into the Recovery HD using COMMAND and R keys at startup. If you cannot do that then most likely there is a problem with the hard drive. Since this is a new computer i would make a Genius Appointment and take it in for service.

Mac OS X is inherently a Multi-User system, even when ther is only one User account.
Whether it asks depends on the permissions of the file in question.
If your login_id is the Owner, it will not ask.
If your login_Id is NOT the owner, then it will ask for proper authority to delete a file that does not belong to you, such as the Admin ID and password.

Custom paint for a combo box?

Is there a document anywhere that describes all the parts you need to paint for a combo box? We have a particular need for a special presentation, but combo boxes can be rather complicated to paint all the parts correctly.

The first dataset selects the data for the entire list, the
second for the combo box. It works alright, but I deam it to be
very inefficient. I have to call the php script that does the data
selection twice, which means double the database load. Not good.
Since I have selected all the data I need in the first statement,
is away I can reduce the number of direct source reads and costruct
the second dataset out of the first?
I tried

with no success, as transactist_xml has all the fields still
included, so clearly the rows will not be distinct.
Any suggestions/thougts?

That box definitely needs an additional graphics card to run Aperture. I seem to remember the Nvidia 8800 GT as the one to get (~$60 at Amazon) but you need to verify that it will work in that old G5 because my recall could be faulty.

Windows and OSX support for Proximity

Is there an install for Windows and OSX support for Proximity.
I have upgraded all of my endpoints to TC7.1.2. (SX, C Series, EX) and Proximity is working great however most of my users bring laptops to meetings not iOS devices.
Any timeframe ?

@fcosgrove; we are currently starting a limited trial for Win and Mac clients (EFT, part of TC 7.3). The main feature for the laptop client is sharing FROM your laptop to the video endpoint, so you can skip the cable, dongles etc in the room.
We do have plans for supporting call control and content receive to the laptop as well, but that's later.
The first PC & Mac version has target for first half 2015, but is subject to change (as in: not yet committed).
