OSX error ID -8796

Anyone explain this to me?
It occurs on a MBP 2Ghz with OSX 10.4.8 after starting Digital Performer 5. 11. Not related to processor overload or low RAM. Plist trashed and preferences deleted. It is making DP very unstable, and occurs after opening some of the windows and commands (like Tracks window and Sequence window) or openng a new project. I have posted a similar request on the MOTU forums, but no one can explain this, so far.

Followup:
I now have reactivated all arabic, chinese, and Japanese fonts that I had turned off in Font Book, then I have re-started the computer and DP. The errror code message has changed to ID -39, but the instability stays the same.
I am wondering if I have moved or deleted any fonts, but cannot recall having done so.
The mystery goes on.

10g Installation on OSX errors in invoking

I ran into some serious "Error in invoking target..." errors during the installation of 10g on OSX 10.3.8, which lead to a completely useless Oracle. Have you guys had the same problems? The first one was because of a directory that didn't exist (/Volumes/u01/app/oracle/product/10.1.0/db_18/precomp/lib/proc). The second one concerned a gcc error (ld: Undefined symbols:_nnfoboot). I wasn't able to continue successful installation after this.

Hmmm... I once had an error "duplicate path" when building.
As far as I can remember it was because I had several folders on my hard drive with different versions of the my soft and the problem was that 2 VIs with the same name were loaded from different place.
Could it be the same for you ?

Osx error re-install won't fix

Hello,
I have already looked around the forum and noticed some other people have had the same issue but non of the fixes have yet to work for me.
So it's a late 2006 24" iMac intel core duo 2. Never let me down in 7 years but now has a serious issue.
About a week ago I did a 7 pass erase and re-installed osx 10.4, worked fine for a week until it went into sleep mode. Coming out of sleep mode finder had vanished, I tried to restart finder but the system just froze for a few hours and did nothing. On system reboot I was presented with the flashing folder with a ? In it.
I put the osx cd back into my back and booted into disk utility. Directory error on the HDD. Tried to repair a few times but with no Luck so I did a 0 pass erase and went to install again. The osx started to install but then stopped just at the end and said error please try restart and install again.
So again I checked the disk permissions and S.M.A.R.T status said verified. Went to install and had the same issue again.
I then did a quick erase and tried to install osx 10.7 from flash drive just incase it was the cd, once again it goes to install but on the restart I get a white screen for a hour until it loads up and say error, restart and install again.
I have reset the NVRAM suggested in other post but that made no difference at all.
Also since the first crash the iMac is very very slow. When booting up it takes about 5 min to show boot select, after selected cd or flash drive it take another 15-20 min to get into disk utility.
I spoke to apple on the phone and they said if the HDD is verified in S.M.A.R.T status that is ok. They suggested putting back in my old RAM, so I did. But once again this made no diff to how slow the iMac is running and I can not install any version of OSX still. I have never had this issue before on any mac I have worked on or installed OSX ON.
If anyone has any ideas would be thankful as apple want me to book it in and try basically everything I have done.

Hey just a update, so even though apple said the HDD was fine because of the S.M.A.R.T status and it was been picked it would be fine I did not agree, took my iMac apart went out to the local computer shop picked up a cheap 1tb WD HDD and now the iMac is worked fine and smooth :-)
So now I know that was the issue I can order a nice new SSD for the iMac and use the new HDD I got in an external case :-) just incase anyone had the same issue that's the fix. Buy a new HDD or SSD

"iTunes cannot be opened in this version of OSX" error

A few weeks ago I installed iTunes 7.2, which had been working fine until I tried to open it yesterday, and I got an error message saying that it was not compatible with my version of OSX, and that I needed a version newer than 10.3.9, which is odd considering that I'm running 10.4.9. I tried restarting, then I deleted iTunes to reinstall it. The new installer that I downloaded says something like "iTunes cannot be installed on this computer because it requires Mac OS X 10.3.9 or later." Has anyone else had this issue? Does anyone know how to go about correcting it? Any help is appreciated.

Have you contacted Apple support regarding this issue? As i believe they may be able to swing you in the correct direction? Have you installed any applications or made any system changes between the time you last opened iTunes and now?

Can't boot to Mac osx, Error -2100F

Hi there,
I got a Macbook Pro Retina Late 2012, and I made a dual boot to Windows 7 today.
The problem is when I try to boot to Mac osx it automaticly start up as Windows 7.
I tried to use the Command key to get the Mac osx running and the only boot that I see is Windows 7.
After that i tried using Command + R to recover it and it gave me an error -2100F.
I also tried to use Boot Camp to Boot to Mac but that also goes straight to Windows.
My guess is that I deleted the wrong partition when I installed Windows 7 and that i am unable to boot to Mac osx now.
Can anyone help me fix the problem?

Use your backup(s). Erase and restore.
Also XP is not being actively supported.
With OS X upgrades you always need to check and make sure you have the latest, like Parallels 7, or there is VirtualBox 4.x
Sounds like you simply had a corrupt hard drive.
Lion 10.7 will only support Windows 7 except in a VM.

OSX error message

we have an error message that continuously reappears at random on our desktop. It is the standard message about ejecting a drive before disconnecting. I cannot find a way of stopping it, it was caused by a Garmin GPS which goes to sleep too fast. I think there must be a plist file but cannot find a mention in the logs or see anything relevant. any ideas ?

A couple of ideas, maybe they will help:
Look in Activity Monitor, see if there is some Garmin-related process that continues to be active, that keeps putting the error message up, and quit it.
If there is a .plist file, the way to find it is to go to the Garmin app (I'm assuming there is one), open the ~/Library/Preferences folder and arrange by date modified, and then make a change in the Garmin app and see which .plist file appears at the top of the list. Then you'll know which one it is.

Downloading adobe reader osx error message "an internal error occurred"?

Can't seem to use the program, when it ends up on my dock, and I select it, I get the message "an internal error occurred".
I don't know how else to test if it's working...

Downloading Photoshop - OSX error

Hi there,
I would like to download a trial version of photoshop, however when I launched the installer - a dialogue box displayed saying that I do not have the correct OS for Mac.
I am running Mac OSx 10.5.8
Is there a version of photoshop, available for trial, that I can use? I am only an intermediate user, so there is no need for the absolute latest version - it will just be for home & personal use. I want something better than Photoshop Elements, which doesn't have the full capabilities that I need.

How to remove OSX error/fake space on HD.

So the only real problem I've had with OSX, is that sometimes if you quit a partitoning, in thise case I stopped a Boot Camp partioning, but this can also happen when deleting things like Virtual Machines. I did both today, and now I have around 100GB of air, that can not be removed. Basically Disk Utility and everything else says that there is over 100GB of "other" which is the virtual machine I deleted + the failed partion that disappeared and somehow went into my main partion. So I'm asking, cause this is the 1 issue I've had with OSX, and it's really annoying, cause this is like the 3rd time I'll have to reinstall everything.. Is there a way to fix this?

What?? What does that have to do with anything, and it's not my fault that there is no way provided to uninstall some things in OSX.

You may try to check if you have any existing version installed. Try uninstall that one if any previous version is installed.
You may try to create a new user profile and then try install Reader again.

Error -8796 with MS Entourage

Hi,
I have just got a Mac Pro and have been installing my software on this. All been fine until now. Whenever I start up MS Entourage I get Error -8796 message continually coming up. As for as I can tell all my settings seem there (accounts/identities) but +no text is visible+.
I've tried looking on MS support sites and OSX sites (in case this is a OSX error no.) but no clues. I've tried trashing prefs for Entourage and office, the MS office v.X Database, re-installing etc, but all no good.
In the end I created a new user account login for OSX and this worked. Any Idea where I go from here with this as I seem to have some problems/restrictions using some software in this other new user account in OSX, so I'd ideally like to get my original main account sorted out.
Has anyone come across error -8796 before?
