OSx keeps logging me off

Hi!
So here is my problem : i observed that when i am not on the computer for about 1h-1h30, osx logs me off my session, closing all programs.
When i'm working on my computer, this never happens.
I tried leaving my computer without any applications opened, to be sure this wasn't caused by any application, and the same thing happened.
Any clue ?
Thanks in advance
Gab

Hey, thanks--I've been running into the same problem and kept looking in Energy Saver...you've solved my issue as well, years later. Now I have a functional music server.
Cheers!

  • IChat keep logging aim off with no reason

I have been using iChat for a year and recently it has staring logging me off for no reason with no warning or explanation.  Port setting is at 443 and everything is as it should be.  Any help would be appreciated!
I am running a MacBook Pro one year old running OSX Lion.

    Hi,
In iChat > Preferences > Accounts > Server settings (After you have Logged out) try it without the SSL Option.
AIM had less SSL servers for the previous servers listed in iChat 4 and 5 (which could do SSL)  and if there was a problem then you get kicked Off.
If you lose contact with an SSL Server in iChat you need to manually reset the Login.

  • Macbook Pro with retina keeps logging me off randomly

I went to Apple already and they just told me to re-load Lion.  I re-loaded, didn't have issues for a few days, but it returned.  All I know is I am losing tons of productivity time since all of my Office applications never remember where they were being saved and I sometimes lose information when it crashes and logs me off.  Below are a few snippets of the crash records.  If I need to post the entire records I can post them; just hoping that the header information will provide enough information for someone to point me in the right direction.  I am honestly surprised to see 'WindowServer' when I don't have windows running and it still crashed on the fourth one.  I have Parallels 8 with Windows 7 Professional and Office 2011 for Mac installed.

  • IChat keeps logging me off..

ichat logs me off every ten minutes and says that "The connection to the host was unexpectedly lost." No other computers in my house get logged off, Safari still works on my computer, and the internet provider says it's not them. What's wrong?

There are now many applications that can login to the AIM servers including GoogleTalk. The Leopard release has also caused an increase in the amount of Mac users trying out or returning to iChat.
It seems at the moment AIM is not coping that will with who is or is not Logged in and dropping some people.
As Defcom has pointed out it seems to help if you use another port.

  • Adobe CC Keep Logging Me Off

    Hi,
Currently I am on an Education plan subscription for my Adobe Creative cloud. As of a few days whenever I am working in adobe apps or not at all the Adobe CC keeps loggin me of, and nearly everytime I open up an Adobe application it will always have me log in. Eventhough this is already some what annoying, it can get worse. For example sometimes when I am in a middle of a project suddenly a message pops up telling me to lo in again eventhough I just did like 10 minutes ago just to get into the app. To me it seems as though the Adboe CC is loginng me off every liek 10 minutes or so.
    Info:
    running a Windows 7 64Bit OS

    Hi SFSBrian,
Please follow the steps mentioned in the kb: http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/trial--1-launch.html .

  • My MacBook Pro keeps logging me off my account, and I checked my system preferences to see if any boxes were ticked for "log out time" or "password required" and they are not. Why does it do this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Nicksea is correct and most of the posts on this subject in these forums have missed this vital explanation.
I have just been through a big problem similar to this but mine was shutting down after 40mins.
The reason I said "big" was that I have had the problem when doing large downloads and then having to restart them again only to have it happen again. I had spoken to AppleCare and for more than a year the issue was not resolved.
I was told to take my computer the local 'MacDoctors' and they said they thought it was the Hard Drive and replaced it and then charged me to transfer my data. The data transfer was mucked up (if you don't know what Mucked Up means replace the 'M' with a 'F' and you'll get it) causing more trouble.
It didn't fix the problem but it did mean I couldn't go for a Macca's for a month (kidding - I still went to Maccas but didn't order fries).
Anyway, finally, in desperation and much frustration I thought I would give the Apple Care guys another go and got an 'escalation' guy that really took charge of the problem. He didn't know what to do to fix it but was talking about it to one of his fellow super techosleuths and his friend asked has he looked at the 'Security and Privacy' option in the System Preferences?
Inside that option is an 'Advance' option (OSX 10.7.5) and once opened has a tick box which asks when you want your computer to shut down. Sure enough it was ticked for 40mins - it is now unticked.
I have mentioned this to Applecare people and the MacDoctors and NONE of them had any idea that this tick box was in that section of the system.

  • My macbook keeps logging me off unexpectedly while I'm using it. What do I do to keep it from doing this?

When I'm using my macbook pro, the screen just turns black all of a sudden, and then after a while, it lights up again, asking for my password so I can log back into my computer. It's not due to inactivity or anything. Do I need to change my system preferences or is it a virus? Please help!

Have you completely shut down the computer, waited a few seconds/minutes, then turned it back on.
There was a similar post the other day and it ws because the user never shuts his computer down. He aways put into Sleep mode.

I have changed the view to the "Preview at the bottom" which has stopped it logging me out constantly. However now I have the preview at the bottom - not great as I have a laptop and limited space.
I am grateful for something of a solution though.
And yes I am Google Chrome user too.
But really, why is BT making its email software somewhat incompatible with a browser that must be used by millions of people?
Seems a strange strategy to me.

  • PowerBook keeps logging itself off

I have had my 12-inch PowerBook G4 for 9 months. I'm currently having problems in which the PowerBook quits all applications, restarting itself and asking me to login. Any data which hasn't been saved beforehand is lost. I've heard that this may be a means of virus protection on Macs, but this process is now happening about 6 times a day for me, which is very time consuming and irritating.
Does anyone have any idea as to what the problem is, and if so, how to resolve it?
4 months ago my computer crashed (and I lost everything) when I updated programs. Could the current problem be related to this? I can't afford to lose any work again.
    Many thanks,

    WElcome Harlan,
FIRST of all: do a backup of everything which you want to keep. don't do it now, do it YESTERDAY !!!
include you rdocuments, photos, music, and so on, but also your applications (if you don't have the original cds).
    2) Indeed, if your PB crashed when you updated programs, it could be that you suffer from this still now, for it could be that some of your (system) software is damaged. If this is the case, do the following:
    -- back up everything you need;
-- do an "ARchive and Install"
"ARchive and Install" keeps (in principle) everything on your computer as it is, but installs a new version of the system. here is a link for info about it:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107120
if this doesn't solve the problem, do an "Erase and Install".
watch out: "Erase and Install" reformats the disk, thus everything will be lost!! the system will be reinstalled on the virgin disk. Your PB should then run as new. if it doesn't, then there is a hardware problem.
By the way, i don't think that this is a virus protection. if at all, it looks like a virus.
and, bytheway # 2: it's a good habit to back up frequently your documents; once a week or so...
Hope this helps. post back, if you need more help.

  • Osx keeps logs me out all the time!

I just bought the new MBP retina with lion on it the other day, and it is continuously logging me out! doesnt matter what im doing, could be watching a movie, browsing on facebook, or even when im just navigating around finder, it will just go to the log in screen and sometimes closes the applications i have open.
i have no idea why it is doing it, it has never done it with my 2009 macbook i still own, which also has lion on it. Hopefully when i update to mountain lion it will be fixed.
any help would be great, this is most frustrating!

    Go to
     > System Preferences... > Mission Control
Click the 'hot corners' button in the bottom left. Are any of them set to 'Put display to Sleep' or 'Start ScreenSaver'?
    If not, also check
     > System Preferences... > Security & Privacy
Click the padlock (bottom left), enter your Admin password, then click the activated 'Advanced...' button (bottom right). Is 'Log out after ... minutes of inactivity' set? If so, disable it.

  • Apple ID keeps signing me off.

My Apple ID that i use to sign in to the store/iTunes match etc... keeps logging me off. And shutting off iTunes match and when i reenable i have to download my tracks again. Why do I have to continue signing in on a multiple day basis.

    - Double tap you home button and close all application that´s running on your iPhone

  • Iphone facebook app keep logging off

My iPhone FB app keeps logging off inexplicably. Sometimes every minute. At times it wouldn't happen for days. I have noticed that whenever there is a friend request and i click on the link, it says error and wants me to log in again. Of course the log off happens at other times too.

This is certainly not an iphone/IOS or Apple issue, since you're using a 3rd party app.
The issue is with Facebook, I'm going to assume you did their updates already?
If you did and are still having issue, no would be a good time to let Facebook know and write a review or at the very least look at their support site.
