OSX Lion can't read it's own burned mp3 cd

Hello,
I have a weired problem with mp3 cds on my Mac Mini running OSX Lion. I burned some mp3 cd with iTunes. Now few days later the same mac doesn't read them any more. It says i put a blank disk in it. When i confirm to open it with finder, it is empty and has a burn option. So somehow it seems the cd has not been finalized. Can that really be true?
When i insert it into an iMac running 10.6.8, everything works fine. I get really confused whats wrong with my Mac mini. Normal commercial audio cd is no problem.
Any help appreciated.
Daniel

Since other devices can read the burnt discs and your computer can read other discs, I suspect the problem has to do with the lower reflectivity of burnable discs. It's possible that switching to difference media would solve it (cheaper discs use dye that is less reflective than more expensive discs) but if I owned it (and if it were under warranty) I'd call Apple or head for the nearest store.

Right. After almost a day I finally sorted the problem.
Adobe Reader worked under the spare Admin account so I deleted that in case it was confusing the installer.  I then rerpaired persmissions.  I then re-installed Reader.  Same problem "Internal Error"!!
So, I re-created another Admin account and opened Reader.  No problem.  After clicking accept licence it opened up with a question to make default or not.  After this I hunted through every folder and found that Under 'User/Librarary/Application Support/Adobe' there was an Acrobat folder.  When I checked the account I normally use there wasn't, and never was??  So I copied pasted a copy of the Acrobat folder into the same location on the non working account and all is fine.
Problem for me is, why did this happen?  I wasted almost a day on this. Is it a problem with the installer, the Macbook or Permissions.  I checked permissions and they are identical to those on the spare Admin account.  So why did the installer not create the Acrobat folder on the main account from where it was installed?  Reason it concerns me is with regard to updates.  Will they also screw up?
I'll try to explore further as times goes on but for now I have to say I've had enough of Acrobat and Lion for one day.  "It just works".  Really???

  • How many copies of osx lion can you install from one itunes account

How many install can you ut into efect from one itunes account with osx lion?

    elstgav wrote:
I believe it's five.  It's tied to how many computers you can authorize with one iTunes account. (The same applies to music, apps, and other stuff downloaded from the iTunes Store)
The iTunes, 5 computer limit does not apply here.  As per the license agreement, if you obtain Lion via the Mac app store, you are granted permission to install on all Snow Leopard Macs that you personally own/control.  If you have Lion pre-installed on a new Mac or obtain it via a USB key purchase method (reportedly coming in August), the license only permits use on one Mac.

  • Mail - OSX Lion - Can't change font in mail list

OSX Lion seems incapable of changing the font in the mail list on the left side. The default is a horrendous, teeny tiny font. Going to Preferences > Fonts and Colors and choosing message list font reveals a font picker. All the other font settings work in this view except the message list font.
If you go to the "Classic" (aka ugly) view, your message list font changes work.
I am a big believer in software aesthetics, particularly in an app you are staring at all day.
Please, oh please, Apple tell me this is not a default behavior! At the very least, if is truly is impossible to change this, and the over-50 crowd must squint at mail all day, indicate somewhere in the prefs panel that this will not work in the new view.
I'm really hoping there's a solution for this. As cool as the new mail app is, this would be a deal breaker that would send me running back to Sparrow.

"changing the font in the mail list on the left side"
You can change the size of the font (just not the font type) here: Preferences - General - Sidebar icon size.

  • OSX Lion can't see flash drive

Since upgrading to Lion, my MacBook Pro can't see my mini video camera, which includes onboard storage and used to show up as a drive. Has anybody else had a problem with external flash drives not showing up in the Finder?

I had that same problem. If you open up disk utility you can see the name of your flash drive. Then I just spotlight searched for the name of my flash drive and I was able to open it up and get files off of it. I hope this helps.

  • OSX Lion can't find CD after I installed Parallels and Windows 7

I have a 2011 macbook running Lion, Parallels 4 and Windows 7.  Now when I put in a disk, windows hijacks it with windows media player, and the disk doesn't show up in iTunes for Mac.  Is there a setting to make OSX find the cd first?

    Hi 10sMan,
It sounds like you may have a device filter causing you to see that issue.  I recommend this article to help troubleshoot not being able to find the CD burner:

  • Verify a bug: iCal can't read it's own invitations if lines are too long

    Hi all,
Can you help me isolate (and hopefully get Apple to fix ASAP) a bug in iCal?
    1. Create an event in iCal
    2. Add an invitee with a very long email address, OR with a very long name, so that the combination of "ATTENDEE;" with the name and address exceeds 72 chars.
    3. Send the invitation.
    4. Go to the computer of the invitee, and try to accept the invitation.
    5. It will complain that the address is not in your ME card - but it's looking for only part of the address, that got cut off at the 72-character line. iCal fails to recognise the wrapped line (see examples below) and the invitation is useless. (in the example below, I get a notification that "[email protected]" is not in the ME card in my address book because iCal doesn't see the 'u'.)
    ATTENDEE;CN="Michael Cutter";PARTSTAT=ACCEPTED:mailto:[email protected]
    u
    ATTENDEE:mailto:sendingthelongestpossibleemailaddressthaticouldeverimagi
    [email protected]
To check if you've got an email address long enough to be wrapped, have a look at your sent invitation in TextEdit or similar and you'll see a break like above.
Can you please try this and tell me if you can replicate the problem? It's driving people in my office nuts because all you need is a status like
    "PARTSTAT=REQUIRES ACTION;"
and you've already lost 25 chars of your 72 char limit. Add a name and an email and you're gone - but if you are lucky enough to usually only have short names or just emails in your invitations you probably won't see this error!

I can now explain (I think) why nobody else seems to be able to reproduce this bug - it's caused by using Entourage X with iCal! Invitations sent TO Entourage X are broken when passed into iCal on the recipient's Mac.
Solution: upgrade to Entourage 2004 or switch to Mail. The SENDER's mail program doesn't seem to have an affect.

hey guys hope u can held me ..
when i open the new iphoto libary it says i need to istall an older version of iphoto libary ...

1 - you never "copy" an iPhoto library to any other iPhoto library - exactly what did you do
2 - installiung Lion typically has no effect on iPhoto - you are only upgrading the OS - not the iLife software
Exactly what is the error message - I am not aware of iPhoto ever saying tha tyou need to inatall an older version of anything and it is impossible to ever "install" an iPhoto library - you install the iPhoto application - it creates or converts the iPhoto library
We need to know what version of iPhoto you have and exactly what is said when you launch iPhoto
