OSX Lion on 13" MacBook Pro

When I use the "pinch movement" to magnify a page it freezes. I have to use the 2 finger double tap. When I restart it works again. Is this fixable?

I have the same issue today. MacBook Pro 13" from 2009. Just randomly started freezing and programs would stop responding.
I decided to update the OS to see if that solved it. Instead that has left me at the restart screen with a spinning wheel for well over an hour now... I am getting close to just throwing this thing at a wall it has become so frustrating to watch.
What do I do???

Since I installed OSX Lion on my MacBook Pro, sometimes after login, the colored wheel keeps turning and I can't do anything. When I click on some icon or in the menu, no happens.
After a long time (more than 1 hour), I decide to switch off my Mac holding the button down and when I boot and log in again, it works normally.
Remark: When I logoff, I do not ask to keep my open programs for the next session.
I have a MacBook Pro 2010 with 4GB Ram.

OSX Lion on new Macbook pro

Just bought a Macbook pro, with the release of OSX lion, will i get a free upgrade, or do i still need to buy OSX Lion like everyone else?

If you purchase a Mac between June 6, 2011 and the day that Lion is released you will be entitled to a free upgrade through the Up-to-Date programs. Now, if it's anything like their past Up-to-Date programs, they'll ask you to submit the purchase date and serial number of your Mac to verify if you're entitled.
We won't know for sure though how they will verify how a person is entitled to the upgrade until it goes live though.

Why does mountain lion make my macbook pro stall?

Hi Is anyone else having a problem with Mountain Lion? My Macbook Pro was very stable woth OSX 10.6. I updated recently and now the round egg timer equivalent appears regualrly, requiring me to reboot.
I thought that I had left all this behind when I moved from PC?
Any ideas for a cure anyone?

Launch the Activity Monitor utility, set the list at the top to "All Processes", then click on the "% CPU" heading until the top CPU users are at the top of the list. Continue to work until things slow down, then see what's consuming CPU time.

you will be ok updating to the new software but there will be some trade off. i have 3 macbooks 2006 that are all running the latest versions.
some of the trade off are
1-2 less of battery life
slow wake ups from sleep
slower start up time about 30-40 seconds longer then what you have now
the operating system will use high % of your processer while idealing
these are not the things you want to hear about a new os compared to the old one but this is how it is even with a new macbook pro. but it's not the end of the world. just make sure you have at least more then 2GB of ram and have a good harddrive and you will be ok.

This doesn't work for me at all. I tried entering exactly the same information that I used to set up my regular email account and I'm still getting an error message. I even tried switching to using my gmail account and neither one worked. Then it got hung up and had to repair my database! I have a lot of photos on my Mac (thank goodness they're backed up) and I was really sweating it for a moment.
Apple is so easy until it's not. I find this to be really aggrevating and I'm irritated that it hasn't been fixed. In fact I did an online search and someone described this same problem in detail and it was exactly what was happening to me. Same error messages.
I'm frustrated that Apple keeps updating it's operating system and then we go through these glitches.
And while I'm at it, I have never had such a frustrating time using my login information as I have to get into this forum! Why do they make it so difficult? There's just something about the way it's worded that get's me messed up every time. Meanwhile, at least get iPhoto fixed!

Worse, i can't force quit the finder and get it to relaunch - the command won't work.
Most of the Lion software also won't work - iTunes, Mail, iCal - and only some of the preferences work.
The message:
Finder quit unexpectedly.
Click Report to see more detailed information and send a report to Apple.
Won't go away no matter if i hit Ignore or Report...
I have no clue what to do...

Does that happen if you boot into "safe mode"? Launch the Console utility and look for messages that might explain the problem. If you see a "crash report", post its contents here.

Restart your mac in Safe Mode by holding down the 'shift' key while it powers up. You'll know if you've entered Safe Mode correctly if you see a progress bar underneath the grey Apple logo screen. Let go of the shift key when you see that, wait for the progess bar to complete then log in.
After log in, go to
 > System Preferences... Users & Groups and remove everything from the 'Login Items' tab.
If you have any anti-virus software installed (Sophos, F-Secure, VirusBarrier, Mackeeper) uninstall it while in Safe Mode.
Restart your mac normally and test.

Hold the Option key down and restart. Select one of the drives that comes up and hit the Return key.

Please read this whole message before doing anything. This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it. Step 1 The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account. Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select Help from the menu bar, and enter “Set up guest users” (without the quotes) in the search box. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.” While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin. Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem? After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. When you see the gray Apple logo, release the shift key.
If you are prompted to log in, type your password, and then hold down the shift key again as you click Log in.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs. The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. *Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t boot in safe mode. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.
