OSX Lion & Prod. Prem. CS5.5 Compatibility

I'm one of those who Apple betrayed with their abandonment of their Pro Video customers, and along with masses of my fellow colleagues, have happily switched to Production Premium. I am the owner of a small production company for 11 years, with several active Mac editing bays/ a director / producer / editor, window cleaner, and I empty the trash too .
Accordingly, I thought it would be prudent and very informative to start a thread with regard to today's release of OSX 10.7 Lion and the corresponding compatibility of any and all Production Premium CS5.5 applications.
My initial and brief investigation has already revealed some incompatibilities. These can be found at the following link: http://roaringapps.com/apps:table/tags/_a/index_tags/_a
Pursuant to the findings at the above link, I have NOT yet upgraded any of our editing workstations to Lion. I thank all contributors, in advance for their collaboration. I too will post back any information I find.

OSX Lion and Photoshop CS5 "scratch disc error"

I've been using Photoshop CS5 for awhile now (about a year and a half). Up to yesterday I was running OSX Snow Leapord with no issues. Yesterday I upgraded to OSX Lion and today, my first day using Photoshop in Lion, I'm getting repeated "scratch disc error" messages with a "quit" button (no other options). Photoshop works fine for awhile, three hours or so, and then I'll get the "scratch disc error" message and will be forced to quit Photoshop and restart.
My main drive is a 2Tb drive with 1.7Tb of available space, so I'm sure scratch disc space isn't a problem. I've got about another Tb of scratch disc space available on two other internal drives. I've got 14Gb of Ram, all memtested and working perfectly. It clearly seems to be an issue with OSX Lion since it never happened before today. A few other details: I'm up to date with Photoshop CS5, I have Open GL turned off because I'm on an older Mac Pro (a 3.0 Ghz dual quad core, 2.1) and my video card doesn't play nicely with Open GL (a whole different kind of crash).
All three times I've gotten the "scratch disc error" pop-up today it seems to have been when I open multiple files. This last time I opened something like 8 files. Big deal; sometimes I open 40 or more without any problems. So can anyone please help me with this issue? I have yet to lose any of my work (I save constantly - a habit born out of past frustrations), so it's managable, but it shouldn't be happening.

I am havng this same exact problem. Recently, I reinstalled my OSX Lion fresh, and also just installed CS5.5 Design Premium. I have been experiencing this same error repeatedly.
On my computer there are two separate Scratch Discs (non-partioned) and when the error first popped up, I tried switching between Scratch Discs. One at a time, even using other drives and still received the same error. I've done everything I can find suggested to no avail. All OS updates are done, CS5.5 is updated, permissions repaired, disks repaired, graphics driver current, OpenGL disabled, etc....
If we can determine a fix, it would be greatly appreciated. Photoshop is an awesome tool that I use extensively, and this is driving me insane!
BTW, here is the error I believe he is getting (same one I see way too many times a day)

OSX Lion and Dreamweaver CS5.5 Crashes

I´ve reasently updated to OSX Lion with Creative Suite 5.5 and besides not being able to use flash catalyst or flash builder, dreamweaver cs5.5 crashes every 5 minutos and the last time i´ve just wasnt able to fully open it and then it crash again, it must be around 5 minutos, working with a single css file about 150 kb, crashin i don´t kno 15 or 16 times.
so...
anybody else?
anything to say?
any solution?

Lion and FCS3, CS5.5 Compatibility

Has anybody experienced any problems with Lion and running Final Cut Studio 3 and/or Production Premium CS5.5 apps?

OSX Lion and 10.5.8 Compatibility?

Admittedly late to the party, but I've recently upgraded to 10.5.8 on my G5 PPC (at considerable expense) to be able to enjoy iTunes 10 and iPhone(s) etc., on my otherwise perfectly useable 'legacy' machine. There is also a Mac Mini in the house on Snow Leopard, on a wired network.
So here comes Lion, which again, understandably, requires Intel +. Lion looks fantastic: I want it, but where will this leave me with my PPC on 10.5.8, especially my ability to communicate with the Mac Mini when I upgrade its OS to Lion?
As a 'legacy' macine user I'm hoping I won't be further banished by my masters!?

Thanks PAHU, it was a bit of a rhetorical question really. If AFP is the protocol these all use then all should be fine.
I'm mostly concerned with still being able to automatically sync/share my music library with iTunes, .docx's with MS Office, and photos - I use Aperture 2 on my PPC as this machine is beefed up for the job. However, as Apple bring out versions of iTunes frequently (for example), will I still be able to install them on all machines without the dreaded "you need OSX 10.6 or later to use iTunes..." message appearing (again)?
Bottom line is, in 'doing the right thing' and upgrading OS, will I inadvertantly be signing the death warrant for my PPC - as happenned to with my G3 many moons ago? I hope not.

Well, I figured it out.
You have to check the "Enable access for assistive devices" box in the os X "System Preferences". It´s located in the "Universal Access".

OSX Lion and ID CS5 DPS tools crashing

Hi there,
I'm currently facing InDesign CS5 crashes whenever I click on the "open/folder" icon in the overlay panel or folio builder panel (choosing images for a sequence or importing articles for example). I've tried to update all the components to their latest version including the Folio Builder update of August 4th with no success, ID keeps closing as soon as I click the open icon. Any ideas? Is this a documented issue? I repeat ID CS5 and not 5.5...

Free up Space - Delete Speech Analysis Models? (prod prem cs5.5)

Hi all -
Can I delete the SpeechAnalysisModels directory in Program Files(86) and not break anything?
I might keep the en_US folder and the "support" folder (I assume I'd need to keep that) so that I can still use this tool if I need it.
On a 128G boot/app drive every GB is important. The Speech Analysis directory is 1.45GB and it is located at:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\SpeechAnalysisModels\CS5.5
If you have any suggestions for other directories I can safely delete I would love to read them.

Problems with the CS5.5 Design Premium Suite on OSX Lion?

Hi, did anybody had already problems with the CS5.5 Design Premium Suite on OSX Lion? I purchased the software as a Volume licenced product recently and everything was working fine, until since few days my Indesign and Illustrator keep crashing on launch. I de-installed and re-installed the entire CS5 Suite on my iMac, but Indesign and Illustrator still keep on crashing while launching. I already rang the Adobe tech support but they are not very helpful at all... Its quite frustrating.

No problems here with CS5. After I upgraded to Lion I did update to 5.5 and still did not experience any problems. There are some handy articlles on Adobe's web site relating to compatability with Lion, but I have experienced none. Have you checked the third party plug-ins in Illustrator and InDesign for compatability if you have any installed?

Flash CS5 crashes on OSX Lion while compiling !

Hi,
I installed OSX Lion. Suddenly, my Flash CS5 is unable to compile an iOS app with packager.
Flash just crashes (closes automatically) without any readible error.
Anyone experiencing this problem?
I really hope that there is a solution for this, because I can't update my apps this way!

I have a Fuji X-Pro1 camera. I use Mac OSX Lion 10.7.5 I have Photoshop CS5. How do I open its RAW files?

Since photoshop cs5 can't use past the camera raw 6.7 plugin and that camera requires at least the camera raw 7.1 plugin, you could use the 8.7.1 dng converter
to convert the files to dng copies, which then photoshop cs5 should be able to open.

InDesign CS5 crashes on startup - Mac OSX Lion

Hi Everyone,
I've reinstalled InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator CS5 after upgrading to Mac OSX Lion,
Photoshop and Illustrator work fine but InDesign crashes on startup.
I've followed a few threads on here, one suggested creating a new adimistrator-level user on my machine - and that works, but I can't figure out what to fix in my regular user to make InDesign work in here again...

I'm having a similar problem but I haven't been able to get it to work. I created a new administer level user but InDesign still won't open under that user. I've tried the other suggestions as well with no success. Please help!!!! It really doesn't help that I'm in South East Asia traveling with no fast internet to be found. :\

CS4 full -- CS5.5 upgrade on Mac OSX Lion = brick wall

I need to install my CS5.5 upgrade on brand new (blank) macbook pro running osx lion, but I can't get past the known CS4 installation issues. Help!

DW CS5.5 in OSX Lion - anyone seeing problems with Spaces?

DW seems to have problems with Spaces in OSX Lion.Switching into DW from other spaces is not 'clean'. When DW comes up, sometimes the Code/Design is blank white, and windows within the workspace don't show their headers. Clicking on Code/Design redraws that window, but the only thing that seems to recover the window headings is switching to and then back from another app in the same Space.
Seems like screen redrawing triggered by switching apps within the same Space is a little different than that triggered by switching apps across Spaces.
Anyone else seeing this?

I did report it as a bug, using the link kindly provided by you and Shocker.
The two Macs I've tried this on now are a Mac Pro and an iMac, so there's no Automatic Graphics Switching option to enable/disable.
I was only able to check this out on the iMac late last night.
Hardware synopsis:
Mac Pro Early 2009
Processor 2 x 2.93 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
Memory 16 GB 1066 MHz DDR3 ECC
Graphics NVIDIA GeForce GT 120 512 MB
Software Mac OS X Lion 10.7 (11A511)
The iMac isn't available to me at the moment, I'll have to fill in missing details later (can't remember the exact graphics card info):
DW is CS5, not CS5.5, was also installed well ahead of the Lion upgrade
Computer is iMac instead of Mac Pro, about 1.5 years old
Quad-Core i7
4GB memory
Mac OS X Lion 10.7
I used the same procedure upgrading to Lion on the iMac...
Ran Cocktail 'Pilot' to clean up the system prior to install (runs Daily, Weekly, Monthly maintenance scripts, clears System, User, and Internet caches, repairs disk permissions on "Macintosh HD", clears log files)
OS10.7 was purchased through the Mac App Store and installed.
JRE installed.
DW on the iMac exhibited the same problem as on the Mac Pro.
To reproduce:
Start DW, open a file for editing
Start any other app in the same Space
Open a new Space, open any other app there.
Test switching between DW and other apps in the same Space compared with switching between DW and other apps in different Spaces.
Consistently, when I switch between DW and other apps in the same Space, DW's windows/panels redraw properly,
and when I switch between DW and other apps in different Spaces, DW's windows/panels don't redraw properly.

Installing CS5 on an iMac with OSX Lion

My hard drive failed and a new hard drive has been installed on my iMac. I now have to reinstall Photoshop CS5. This is an upgrade version but I have the full version of CS3. I can't get the installation disk to run from the DVD drive (I have installed other software from the drive today so this is not faulty). The disk is simply ejected. I am using OSX Lion. What am I doing wrong?

Try copying the contents from the PS dvd to the desktop and try installing it.
If still same issue with the dvd drive, then you might want to copy it to any other machine that has a working dvd drive and then transfer those files to a USB drive and try to install PS CS6.
