OSX Maverick WONT INSTALL!

I have downloaded OSX Maverick but when i try to install it it says  "Update requires version osx 10.9''. Isn't Maverick 10.9?

Welcome to Apple Support Communities
You have downloaded OS X 10.9.1 from the Apple website, and that's an OS X 10.9 update.
Instead, you need to open the Mac App Store and download OS X Mavericks from there. Make a backup of your files with Time Machine and check that your apps are compatible > http://www.roaringapps.com
When the download finishes, the OS X Mavericks installer will appear, so follow the steps. You will have OS X 10.9.1 after upgrading

  • Photoshop 6 on mavericks wont install any ideas?

    Hi
Bought a sealed second web collection, photshop 6 and illustrator 9 wont install anybody have any idea what to do?

    Will,
Looks like you have purchased PS 6, not PS CS6(version 14), along with Illustrator 9.
My first question to you is, from where did you actually purchase these apps now, as they are almost 10 years old?
So, if you are trying to install PS 6 on Maverick, then i would say Don't even try as it a very old product which was never designed or supposed to work with the latest operating systems like Maverick.
Same should be the case with Illustrator.
    Hope that Helps!

  • Problems with After Effects CC & OSX Mavericks AFTER installing 12.01 Patch

Ok, let me give the details. Everything working perfectly previously. Update to OSX Mavericks this morning, (had read about the issues), predictably After Effects wouldn't open. I then applied the 12.01 patch as directed by Adobe. I now get this error message, and After Effects won't open. It attempts to, gets to this same spot, then crashes.
I want to re-iterate that my whole rig was working fine until this so it is definitely related to this update. I have already tried reinstalling patch, resttarting computer, and updating Cuda driver. I have too many plugins, pressets, and scripts to just willy nilly reinstall After Effects as a "let's see if that works". I am on my work computer and need After Effects to work.
    Info on system:
    Mac Pro Mid 2010 Worksatation
OSX 10.9 (now, updated this morning)
    2x2.4 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
    64 GB 1066 MHz DDR3 RAM
    NVIDIA Quadro 4000 2048 MB
ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024 MB graphics

I disabled my firewall, but still got this error Not sure what it means at all, also not sure how to configure the firewall to not block dynamiclink. I am using Handsoff on Mac and All adobe connection requests and all dynamiclink requests are allowed so I don't know what else to know, although it seems to not be the whole problem. Might not even be the real problem as now I have this new error

  • Mavericks wont install

As many others, i get following message:
The thing is, I've already tried what people said in here. I have a backup on an external drive. I found the backups.backupdb folder on that and deleted it, but that obviously didn't help. Now i've created a new backup. I couldn't find the folder anywhere on my computer. I don't know what people mean when they say "it's in the root of the drive" or "it's in the top level of the volume". What volume? It's not listed to the left in finder, it's not a folder in my user folder. It's not in library (when i hold option key). I even tried to go into the time machine page of preferences and search for other disks - a lot of invisible stuff got visible, but not the folder im looking for.
My version of Macbook Pro is late 2010. Now once my harddisk broke and i got a new one and installed everything on, and it works perfectly - i don't know if it can be related to that. I don't think it is.
Where is the root of the drive and how do i find it in finder?

    Hi zaparad,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If your Mavericks installation did not complete, first try booting your MacBook Air into Safe Mode:
Mac OS X: What is Safe Boot, Safe Mode?
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1564
Safe Mode is a way to start up your Mac that performs certain checks and prevents certain software from automatically loading or opening.
To start up into Safe Mode (to Safe Boot), follow these steps.
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
    Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key.
The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple logo and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
After the logo appears, you should see a progress bar during startup. This indicates that your computer is performing a directory check as part of Safe Mode.
Be sure to connect your MacBook Air to the power adapter while doing this check.
    Best Regards,
    Jeremy

  • OSX Tiger wont install on iMac G5  17" (2006)

    hi all
I am trying to update my bosses' iMac G5 from OSX 10.3 to OSX Tiger 10.4.7 and it's hanging up at restart up with Garbled error text. Some of the text appeared in Japanese. Is this a firmware or Apple hardware issue? My boss does have the installer Disk 1&2. What can it be?
    Thanks
    Jim

Tiger install DVDs are in short supply. Tiger is no longer available at the Apple Store but is still available for $129 by calling Apple Phone Sales @ 1-800-MY-APPLE (1-800-692-7753). For other sources, do a Google search for MA453Z/A and M9639Z/A . Also look on eBay. Be sure & buy a retail version (black with silver X) and not a model specific version (gray).

  • OSX Server wont install from clean boot

    Hello
I cannot get my Mac Mini to install osx server 10.5.4 straight of the DVD.
Only way i got it working was by installing normal leopard and then running the upgrade from within.
Please can i be told to how to install straight of the disk?
(When i try normally, it just reboots into osx/or gets stuck in a reboot loop?

In this case, you will have to have [whatever version of Mac OS X client is appropriate for this particular box|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1159] installed or reinstalled, then start the installation of Mac OS X Server per [HT3479|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3479]
If you've an unbootable installation on your disk as is likely the case here, use Disk Utility in the installer to erase the disk, and then roll in the backup you made prior to starting the installation of Mac OS X Server or roll in the Mac OS X client software from the DVD that came with the box, and then follow the steps defined in [HT3479|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3479].
As for the proposed sequence, you likely won't need to update the 10.5 Mac OS X software here (once that software is reinstalled or reloaded or installed onto the box), and can probably go straight to the Mac OS X Server installation, and can then update Mac OS X Server to current.

  • OSX update wont install

The new OSX update (10.6.6) would not finishing "writing" files even if i leave the MacBook Pro running for days.!!
    what shall I do.?

    Details in the following.
Get a bootable, external HD (preferably FireWire, since it's 40-50% faster than USB 2 and designed for data transfers), make a bootable backup/clone before updating/upgrading, and ensure that it's bootable and works like the original. That allows you to revert to the previous good state without having to reinstall or reset anything. See these for details:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106941
    http://www.macmaps.com/upgradefaq.html
    http://www.macmaps.com/backup.html
    http://www.thexlab.com/faqs/installswupdates.html
    http://www.thexlab.com/faqs/backuprecovery.html
If you only have a Time Machine backup, ensure that you can reliably restore it to another disk/volume/partition before updating/upgrading.

  • Mac OSX Panther wont install

all my tech stuff is write my computer meets the requirements but it has an error and it says "not reconizable startup disk"

    ClassickRocker:
To check the Volume Format you can go to the Apple Menu and select about this Mac. Click the More Info button. This will open the Apple System Profiler. In the left column click on ATA under Hardware. The specs will show up in the main panel. File System should be HFS+.
To format your HDD/Partition in Mac OS Extended (HFS+) boot from the installer disk, Go to the Installer Menu and open Disk Utility. Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in the left panel and the Partition tab in the main panel. Volume Format should be set at Mac OS Extended (which is the same as HFS+). You should also check the checkbox to Install Mac OS 9 Drivers. You can set the partition(s) (most users prefer a single partition on an internal HDD), name them select the Volume Format etc. for each and click partition. If your HDD is already formatted in Mac OS Extended and Mac OS 9 drivers are installed, do nothing.
    Good luck.

  • OSX Software wont install on MB pro after crash

I have a macbook pro that crashed. This happened once before about 6 months ago and i replaced the drive. This time i ran DU and it repaired drive. I also ran Drive Genius 2 and it said there was nothing wrong with the drive but i can not install my OS. I tried to install both Snow Leopard as well as Lion and they keep stopping part way through saying there were errors.
Im thinking it is still the drive but does anyone have any ideas?

If you boot from your Snow Leopard disc and run Disk Utility, is your drive still coming up with errors when you try to Verify disk? Most OS X installers check the reliability of the internal (or external) disk that you're installing the OS on. If the drive doesn't pass the test, you'll usually get an error message.
Try verifying and repairing the disk again before proceeding with install. If you come up with errors again the disk may just be bad.

  • Re instating GarageBand '09 after a clean install of OSX Mavericks

I have a Time Machine back up of my entire hard disk, and because of a couple of suspected system wide issues, I decided to do a clean reinstallation of OSX Mavericks, and reinstall GarageBand X. That all went very well, my HD cleaned up and reformatted fine, OSX Mavericks installed flawlessly, and I began reinstalling Applications, files and folders. I have now run into a problem with the legacy version of Garageband '09, which, on reinstalling from the TM back up, did not simply transfer to the new Applications folder in a working form. Previous to my HD clean up/reinstallation, it had worked pretty well. Now it simply won't open, and I get an error message telling me it cannot find a valid instrument library.
Here is the error message:  The Instrument Library is invalid. GarageBand expects a valid Instrument Library folder in /Library/Application Support/GarageBand. Please choose a valid Instrument Library folder or quit and re-install GarageBand.
I do have a copy of the software installation DVD that shipped with my Mac, so in theory I could reinstall GarageBand '09, but I found that, on trying this, although the software 'installed', Garageband still will not open..
I could do a clean reinstall of Snow Leopard, along with it's associated software, iLife '09, then 'update' to Mavericks and re download Garageband X, which, in theory, would solve the problem, having started with a 'clean slate', but that's a lot of trouble, with a lot of downloading..
Any ideas? I'd be grateful for any possible alternative options..
    Thanks,
    Ontradio :-)

    Hi leonie,
It looks like once my computer was subject to a clean install of OSX Mavericks, programs installed with iLife, i.e. iWeb, GarageBand. iPhoto, etc, were removed from my HD and cannot now be reinstalled.. I form the impression that they are not on the installation DVD's that shipped with my computer, and having examined the disks by placing them in my machine, there is no way I can tell whether that is correct, since there is no 'button' that allows me to look for their presence on the disks.
If you can shed any light on that conclusion, I'd be grateful for any advice you could offer. I guess it's not super imperitive that I have GarageBand '09, I can get by without it, but it would have been nice to have, and a couple of my songs use loops that were from GB '09, and these are now absent from the songs when played back in GB X. Of course, I cannot download the '09 version from the App store. Looks like Apple has me borked!
Thanks for your help, anyway, I'm always pleased to see your name here..
    Regards, Ontradio..

  • My friend have new Macbook Air with OSX Mavericks and I have Macbook Pro with OSX Mountain Lion, Can I create a bootable maverick in pendrive from macbook air and perform a clean installation/update on my macbook pro with osx mountain lion?

I have late 2012 edition Macbook Pro, I have a internet connection with does not run smoothly It gets disconnected and reconnects Thus I failed everytime when I update my OSX Mountain Lion to Mavericks in App Store. My friend just bought 2013 end Macbook Air whicch have OSX Mavericks pre installed.
I was hoping if I can create a OS X version in pendrive from his laptop and use that to install and thuss also update OS on my Mountain Lion.
Kindly explain me in detail how to perform this.
I have already taken back up of all files and I am ready to total clean my laptop.
And I want to update to Maverick so I can thus further update to upcoming OS X Yosemite.

The Mavericks on the Air is probably machine specific since it came pre-installed, so it wouldn't work on your computer. See if your friend will let you access the App Store, where you can sign in using your Apple ID and download the installer. You can use this free program to copy the installer and update your computer.

  • Why does my Macbook pro keyboard and trackpad randomly become unresponsive forcing restart in OSX Mavericks?

Randomly when using OSX Mavericks, since installing yesterday, my mid-2012 Macbook Pro keyboard and trackpad freeze and become unresponsive.
The computer is still running whatever I was doing, the computer does not crash, i just cannot control it and the only way I have found as a fix is to restart.
This never happened in Mountain Lion.
    Can anyone help?

    Very similarly.
Mac Mini late 2012. i7 CPU, 16GB ram. 12GB unused.
After installing Mavericks, it seems to grind my system to a halt. It is still running (I can move the cursor and activity monitor updates processes) but every application I try to launch results in a colorful waiting sign. It even can take a minute or more before an application shows "any" sign of starting.
I tried to open a terminal session (so I could manually kill a process) but the terminal session did not even process. It timed out after 5 minutes.
Acitivity monitor shows 90-95% idle and I have no idea what's causing it.
I have already rebuild disk and reset permissions (all seemed fine) 3 times.
I've rebooted over 8 times since last night. I cannot use my Mac anymore reliably.
    Please help.

  • If I buy a new MacBook Pro w/ Retina Display is OSX Mavericks Preinstalled? Or we should pay separately for the OSX Mavericks.

I was planning to buy a Macbook Pro w/ Retina Display. I was kinda confused if the MacBook Pro has OSX Mavericks pre-installed or we should buy it separately? Pls. Reply ASAP... We will buy it this Christmas Season 2013... Thanks!

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
The latest MacBook Pro is only compatible with OS X Mavericks, so it comes with OS X Mavericks. The problem comes with older MacBooks Pro, because they may come with Mountain Lion or OS X Mavericks.
As OS X Mavericks is already installed, you do not need to do anything to get it. Also, OS X Mavericks is free of charge

  • HT1338 somehow  I installed the old pages over new pages for OSX Maverick now I have 2 and new version won't open files?

Somehow after upgrading to OSX Maverick I downloaded new pages version and loved it. Somehow l LAST WEEK I downloaded the old version of
pages and now the new pages files wont open? How do I uninstall the old pages?

You should be able to reinstall the new version.....
Out of curiosity, how did you install the old version over the new? I would have thought that was impossible.
