OSX Mavericks download issues

"Unkown Error. We could not complete your request. There was an error in the App Store. Please try again later. (04)." Why is it that every time after I enter my password I get this error? My friends have gotten the update just fine, but I got stuck with an error. Any help on a fix for this would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi there Deimios,
I would recommend taking a look at some of the troubleshooting steps found in the article below. Note: While the troubleshooting steps are for the iTunes Store, they can be helpful in this situation.

  • OSX Mavericks download issue

I was downloading Mavericks and fell asleep and my battery ran out. So when I reconnected the laptop to power, it has been showing 'Waiting: Paused' in the App Store but the button saying 'Paused' is disabled. Any way to restart this download? Don't want to lose the progress so far as it takes a while.

I have kind of the same problem.
    put my download on pause.
    closed the laptop.
wanted to restore the download somewhere else.
it said 'waiting' and the pause button can't be clicked.
i've went to my account, deleted the purchase from my downloads...
    nothing happens...
    if anybody can help us...

Supposedly OSX Mavericks downloaded. I saw it downloading in launchpad. I left and came back and I guess it was all finished. How do I make sure it downloaded. I can't see any difference. Also, I have a notice that I should upgrade Mac EFI Firmware 2.1. And I got a notice that my ILibrary has changed locations. I don't have an ILibrary.

Look in your Applications folder for Install Mac OS X Mavericks file.
Better be sure you straighten out those peculiarities on your system before you upgrade to Mavericks or you will likely find yourself with a botched system. Be sure to perform the EFI update before upgrading, too. Put all normal OS X applications and files where they belong. Otherwise, erase the drive first. (after the EFI update.)

  • I have an iMac5, 1 with dual core of 2 x 512 MB. Can I add memory to the original computer to take advantage of the new OSX Mavericks download?

I have an iMac5, 1, with a dual core of 2 X 512 MB RAM. Can I add memory to my original computer in order to take advantage of the recent OSX Mavericks download?

    You can:
    Maximum Memory
3.0 GB (4.0 GB can be installed, only 3.0 GB will be addressed)
    Memory Slots
    2 - 200-pin PC2-5300 (667MHz) DDR2 SO-DIMM
You will need to replace the modules you now have with one 2 and one 1 GB module or two 2 GB modules.
You cannot install anything higher than 10.75 Lion as your model is not able to run anything higher.
Upgrading from Snow Leopard to Lion or Mountain Lion
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99.
If you sign into the App Store and try to purchase Mountain Lion but the App Store says your computer is not compatible then you may still be able to upgrade to Lion per the following information.
    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
Be sure to check whether any of your applications will have to be upgraded or replaced..

  • OSX Mavericks Downloading Help

Everytime I try to download OSX Mavericks, it takes me to the app store and I click install but nothing happens. Is anyone else having trouble with this is as well?

Yes I have the exact same issue - if I click "install" in the Mac App Store it looks like it will install for about ten seconds - but then when I look in "purchases" it shows Mavericks is not installed - if I click 'download' it gives me a timer that circles once and then does nothing.  It's definitely not installed and won't download, and is now really causing me an issue as I cannot update to the latest version of Keynote which I need for work.

  • PS CS not opening after OSX Mavericks download

Just downloaded OSX Mavericks...now can't open Photoshop CS.  Upgraded Java to no avail.  Can anyone help?

Then unfortunately it is too old to run in Mavericks. PPC program's we're dropped after 10.5. 10.6 had Rosetta which was introduced to give users ample time to update their programs. CS3 and upwards are supported. You can always make another partition and install SL on that and run both OSXs

  • I'm having Mavericks download issues

I am trying to download Mavericks in the App Store and nothing is happening. I click on "Install App", enter my Apple ID information, get the little swirling circle next to the arrows at the top for a second or two, and nothing happens. I've tried restarting multiple times, checking the downloads and Applications folders, and have even removed it from my purchases and retried and nothing works. Does anyone know what could be going wrong?

Well I'm here to own up.  My dad was over today and he has an iPad 2 with iOS 7.1.1 and mine ran 6.1.2.  Over the table both on my wifi I tried to call him on facetime and he tried to call me, in both cases it failed due to lost connection as previously discussed.  He said they had used it to call my brother in england yesterday with no issue.
I bit the bullet and decided with extreme reluctance to do the upgrade.  I did a full backup whilst downloading the update on my windows pc and after the sync I applied the update.  Luckily for apple's sake the facetime connection now works both ways but I'm still left with this hideously atrocious UI color scheme.  I can however report that i can see no noticable reduction in performance so far.  As per suggested on some sites I disabled automatic downloads & updates and tweaked the accessibility settings to "reduce motion" and "increase contrast" including enabling button shapes and reducing white point.  Everything seems to work fine and Thankfully I don'rt feel like I have a hobbled device.  Clearly something between 7.0 and 7.1.1 has brought iPad 2 back up to speed so to speak.
Oh and I still hate you Apple, cheers.

  • Audition and OSX Mavericks - Any issues?

I am running 10.6.8 and it is currently working just fine for me. I spend 8-9 hours a day in Audition CS6. I am starting to help out the video people, but I they are running After Effects CC, Lightroom CC, etc and I cannot install those programs because they are not supported by 10.6. I have been holding back on upgrading because it has been working great for me. Are there any known issues with upgrading to Mavericks that I should know about? I have hard deadlines every week and if I start running into computer issues a lot of bad things will come down. Is it safe, or should I stick with what I have and be limited with what I can do with the video people?

... and they finally come to their senses and buy PC's.
That would indeed be a result. I have no objection to Audition running on Macs - because it looks just like Audition running on a PC. It's when you stop it that I start to get irritated with them...
To be honest though, these days there isn't a lot to choose between them when it comes to stability. Yeah, Mavericks had its problems when it was launched, but there again so has every version of Windows there's ever been. Mavericks gets a few updates, and eventually Windows gets SP1. And things are okay again... except that we have to learn something different each time, and there seems to be no point to most of it. I just have to keep reminding myself that they'd go out of business if they couldn't find a regular way to screw more money out of us with new OS's for - well, no genuine reason, really...

  • OSX Mavericks Printer Issue

I had installed my Canon LBP 2900 on Mountain Lion through a patch that converted LBP3000 to 2900 as Canon did not officially make a driver compatible with OSX. The problem that i'm facing now is that when I install the driver for LBP3000, it just doesn't get added to the list of printers. In fact, the list remains completely empty no matter how many times I run the installer. I went to check Library>Printers to confirm this and it was empty as well. I've also repaired the disk permissions but that hasn't helped either, though it did point out a number of problems in printer related folders.

Ignore then permissions errors for the printers, I have the same with mine.
Try going to system preferences > printers and scanners, highlight the printer and click the minus button.
Then try to add it again.
The printer may not be compatible with Mavericks yet, especially after you said it was never fully compatible with os x before you installed Mavericks in the first place :/

Hello, Im new to this website. Im having issues with my Macbook. I have the old 2009 model Macbook and it is our schools macbook. The school just upgraded these MacBooks to OSX Mavericks and when i try to open Minecraft it won't let me. It says no jdk installed. I also try to install Java SE runtime but half way through the Software Update it says cant download software because of network problem but I'm connected to the internet and i can browse stuff just fine. Can any one help with my problems. P.S. I don't know the administrator password or stuff like that. And yes we are allowed to play games and stuff on these laptops but only at home not at school so don't tell me i need to focus on school and not games.

Since you updated the operating system, it is probably Minecraft is missing certain files that ware remove or are not longer comparable with the new version of the OSX. what I recommend, is to check is there is an update for Minecraft and install that. If there is not update available, probably the best thing will be reinstalling Minecraft. Hope this will help you.

  • SINCE UPDATING TO OSX MAVERICKS I HAVE SOME ISSUES..PLS ADVISE

First thing i noticed,is that swiping between pages in LAUNCHPAD is unresponsive, sometimes i just CAN'T swipe to other page...THIS IS KIND of a HUGE DEAL...WHY????? I NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEM WITH TRACKPAD?(scrolling in safari, swiping in other apps, going to mission control is without any problem, that's why its so weird...It just wont work in LAUNCHPAD)
Second problem,in my launchpad appeared an icon called READ ME UPDATE right after updating to OSX MAVERICKS....Thing is,i cant open it,i cant delete it,i cant do anything with it...WHATS HAPPENING??
And my LAST issue is also very ironic, because MAVERICKS promised better power management, but so far, whatever app i open and use,my FAN goes like crazy, from my totally silent MACBOOK became a HOWLING MONSTER...(this issue also came up right after updating to MAVERICKS,i didnt download anything after this update, just to be clear that no viruses could have gotten into my Mac by my fault)
    Apple PLEASE DO SOMETHING..
So far updating to OSX MAVERICKS only brought issues to my,MacBook Air i NEVER HAD...
    PLEASE ADVISE SOMEONE

EtreCheck will not fix anything, but it will provide additional information required to advance troubleshooting:
Apple Support Communities contributor etresoft wrote a very useful app to quickly gather certain system information that may help point to a cause of this problem. Go to his website, download and run EtreCheck:

Etrecheck will be in your Downloads folder. Open it from there. You may see the following dialog box:

  • Impossible to download OSX Mavericks from App Store

I would like to upgrade to Mavericks, but I can't download OSX Mavericks form AppStore, because my computer is always smashing into the process. After restart, I see in Launchpad, that the download is in progress, but it is paused.
I tried it several times, but the result is always the same: I have to press power button to get my computer alive again.
I have a MacBook Pro, purchased in May 2010, running OSX Lion. Could anyone help me how to solve this?

I tried with wifi and with cable as well. Unfortunately with the same result.
Some days ago (since 24.11) my computer seems to be totally damaged, because it is smashing always in ten minutes after start. It is no matter if I start a browser or just want to write an email. After a few minutes comes the "beachball"... I think it has to get a clean install, but to manage that, I would have an OSX setup file.
Before 24.11 evening it has no problem except this download issue.

  • IPhoto is appearing as free on MAC store and it is also featured as one of the top 10 free apps, when i downloaded it, my credit card got charged for 790 rupees. I am using the latest OSX Maverick

iPhoto is appearing as free on MAC store and it is also featured as one of the top 10 free apps, when i downloaded it, my credit card got charged for 790 rupees. I am using the latest OSX Maverick.

And yet to download the app you clicked on a button that told you that the app would be 790 rupees for you.
The iLife apps and the iWork apps are only free when you qualify to get them free. And when you get them free the buy button to download them says free. When the buy button has a price on it, that is how much you will pay for the app.
