Osx Mavericks failed to download aditional content

Hello,
My Mac mini's hard drive crashed. So i installed a new ssd and found that someone tried to eat my original install dvd.
So i downloaded a mavericks installer.app on my Apple id. at my buddy's house.
I made a bootable USB drive with the installer on it and the installer works fine but the osx macericks installer failed to download aditional content time after time. Even after waiting more than 10 hours. I'm on a 50mb broadband  network so that should not be the problem.
Does anyone have a solution for this?
Its a Mac mini (mid 2010) 2.4ghz 8 gb 265gb ssd

If your computer is capable of doing Internet Recovery, then you might try that instead:
Computers that can be upgraded to use OS X Internet Recovery indicates that you can do a firmware update for this.
Install Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion Using Internet Recovery
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
Boot to the Internet Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND-OPTION- R keys until a globe appears on the screen. Wait patiently - 15-20 minutes - until the Recovery main menu appears.
Partition and Format the hard drive:
1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
2. After DU loads select your newly installed hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion. Mavericks: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks and click on the Install button. Be sure to select the correct drive to use if you have more than one.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet
if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
You can skip the steps about partitioning and formatting since you said you've done this already.

I'm having an error message 'OS X Mavericks failed to download' or '' An error has occured'' every time when I try to download it,, plz help me to fix it... :/

I have been reading the forum and other sites and no surprise that bugs do creep in from time to time and need to be fixed. Any new OS will come with bugs and i think this is one.  Yes they will fix it and then we will be able to download, but I do not think that the problem is due to too much traffic. However, is good to let Apple know about problem, so they can fix it.

OS X Mavericks failed to download, Use the Purchases page to try again
I was trying to upgrade Mac OS and kept running into this error message when I tried to resume interrupted download. I was able to get around this problem by following steps mentioned below, which were originally posted in this post.
    Quit App Store.
    Open Terminal.
Execute this: defaults write com.apple.appstore ShowDebugMenu -bool true
    Launch App Store.
At the Menu bar, there should be a "Debug".
Click on that and press "Reset Application"
    Restart App Store.

  • OS X Mavericks failed to download

    Hi,
I'm having an error message 'OS X Mavericks failed to download' every time when I try to download it. Sometimes it took some time to happen, like after the process is around 50%, or sometimes just happened after a minutes. I tried over 10 times and this still persist! I didn't change my DNS settings, I'm using my ISP's. Anyone facing this problem too? How can I fix this???
    Thanks in advance,
    Nathan.

  • OSX Mavericks failed, repair failed, erase failed, unmount failed, everything fails. HELP

I'm typing on my phone which is horrible for my big fingers so please excsuse any mistakes.
I (like seemingly everyone else) have tried to install Mavericks from OSX 10.6.8 and had all the same issues of "it cant because Macintosh HD is damaged and need to restart yada yada yada" message showing up with the same loop. HOWEVER, my situation is different because I seem to be more stuck than anyone else.
I am literally STUCK in the installation loop.. others have said "all you need to do is erase everything and do a clean install"... NO PROBLEM, right? WRONG...
    1) it won't let me erase anything because when I go to Disk Utility, I click on Mac HD and go to the erase tab, and it says "can't erase cause cant unmount..."
    2) obviously because I was trying to erase, I already tried repairing to no avail (like everyone else). But I don't really care because I backed up everything already on my external HDs.
Now here's where it gets REALLY annoying... everyone says to go into recovery mode and hit command R. It does ABSOLUTELY NOTHING DIFFERENT. And I still end up with the same ol white Mac OSX install window infront of the grey screen with the options "back arrow" and "install" along with the Maverick green X logo and the little message saying about "you can do time machines or restore or whatever or just hit install" etc etc.
So as far as I can tell, pressing command + R in any imaginable combination or holding it down upon the startup bong noise or anything does NOTHING differently than me doing nothing at all. So it appears this elusive unicorn you all know as "recovery mode" doesn't exist for me. Nomatter what I do, I keep getting sent back to the same old white OSX INSTALL window.
I even tried one guy's suggestion who said to hit ALT instead, but low and behold, the only option out of its list of "startup options" is the darn hellsent OSX INSTALL screen!!! How do you kill this thing???
I would wipe my whole HD and do a clean install like everyone suggests IF IT ACTUALLY LET ME DO IT..
So how in the world do I get to erase my HD and do a clean install since maverick installer is being just as bad as a bad virus right now.?? I just want my computer back. I shoulda known a free OSX "upgrade" (more like system cyanide) was gonna be bad...

I (like seemingly everyone else) have tried to install Mavericks from OSX 10.6.8 and had all the same issues of "it cant because Macintosh HD is damaged and need to restart yada yada yada"
This means that your hard drive is badly corrupted. There is a pretty good chance that this means that the hard drive is actually failing physically, and will not be repairable. If this turns out to be the case, you will need to replace the hard drive.
You can try erasing the hard drive, but since you have not been able to install Mavericks at this point, you cannot follow directions that involve using recovery mode. You don't have recovery mode yet. You will need to erase the hard drive using your 10.6 install disk, then reinstall 10.6. After that is done, update to 10.6.8 so that you will have the App Store, and then download the Mavericks installer and install that.
It's possible to download the Mavericks installer and create a bootable install disk from that... but downloading it onto a damaged hard drive is probably not something that would be very wise to do. Start from a known good base system, which you will get from the 10.6 install disk.
If any part of this process fails again, you'll probably have to replace the hard drive.
Note that you will probably have to update, upgrade or even throw away many of the apps you were using in 10.6. Be sure that you are not installing apps that are incompatible with Mavericks after you're back up and running.

  • OS X Mavericks failed to download and everything else fails

I am computer savvy and believe I have tried everything.
One day, out of the blue, I got a crash with an 'Unapproved' Caller error. Ok fine.
But then I never got it again. My Mac would nolonger boot into the OS. I tried Nvram Reset's, using recovery to check and repair disk (no errors, SMART verified), and even Safeboot. None worked. NVRAM reset, even while holding down the buttons the entire time will lead to a system shutoff at the end. SAFE Boot wouldn't start, and the list goeson.
I thought my HDD failed. I wiped it completely using recovery disk utility.
So I bought a new one. No matter what I do, Mavericks will not install. I have already called Apple support and I have done everything.
I have tried using Online Recovery Agent, and the RecoveryDisk Assistant to reinstall Mavericks. Yes,my new HDD is formated OS Journal Extended with a valid partition table.
I have tried Commad+Option+R aswell which connects directly to Apple.
Every time, even after typing in my id. Mavericks will download for 10 minutes, and then either crash with no restart, or give me an error.
I have tried installing Windows just. But that didn't work.
    Any suggestions? Thank

The best thing to do is a new partition not just erase.
Also apple never shipped a 10.7 dvd only a usb stick installer. So i am guessing that was a copy and is having problems.
This is a great article explaining how to make a usb installer.

  • Why won't osx mavericks upgrade or download

Spent two days trying to upgrade. Backed up system, cleaned system, repaired disk permission, still nothing. Other than too many people trying to download/upgrade, why won't OSX Mav work?
Upon first try, apps appeared on desktop as if it was upgrading, but no download/upgrade window.

Now have tried changing DNS to Google, after reading other discussion posts. Free Upgrade button is green for a split second, and then button becomes gray and reads Download. Is this the problem, that it needs to be green indicating it's available, as with the very first try?

Make sure you are logged into your admin account to download Mavericks.
System Preferences > Users & Groups > Password
Make sure the Firewall is turned off in System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Firewall
Disable anti virus software if installed.
Network monitoring apps such as Little Snitch or Growl can prevent App Store downloads
Mavericks is a 5.35GB file. Make sure there's a least 15% free storage space.
Click your Apple menu  top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click About This Mac > More Info > Storage

  • I am still getting the Mavericks failed to download error

Are Apple's servers still melting from downloads or is this something else? I have tried about a dozen times and the longest the download has been going on has been about 5 minutes.
    Any suggestions?

    Try this...
Close All Open Apps...  Sign Out of your Account... Perform a Reset... Try again...
Reset  ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons.

  • OS X Mavericks 10.9.2. failed to download

I have a Macbook Pro with retina display running on OS x version 10.8.5. It keeps saying 'OS X Mavericks failed to download' when I try to upgrade to 10.9.2. I have tried to upgrade several times, but the dowload never completes. Thanks in advance.

I disabled the auto-updates after the second auto-update yesterday (and after the Time Machine restore to 10.9.1). The update had already been downloaded prior to that. Apps started nagging me this morning about the update - again. There is no "cancel" option, all I do is click on "Remind me tomorrow". I suspect it will install it again anyway in the days ahead, or I may go ahead and do the update and see if the nav bar is still there given the Preferences > General fix. Thanks.

  • Having problem downloading osx maverick

Been downloading osx maverick it shows downloading, been all night downloadingr so where did I go wrong?

It could be due to one of two reasons.
1/.   Maybe your computer isn't ready or capable for running Mavericks.
2/.   If you can run Mavericks, then try downlaoding it in the early hours when there's not much internet traffic around.  Mavericks is a big download and these forums over Christmas have been full of people getting into difficulties downlaoding the files.
I know when it was launched it was difficult because everyone wanted it, but it went a dream for me before 6am and never had a glitch at all.  Good luck!

Server1: Primary server with all roles installed locally except the site database is on its own server. WSUS is installed locally here and DB is stored here.
Server2: SQL DB for Primary site DB
Server3: Secondary remote site running MP, DP, SUP. DB is SQL Express local.
So the SUP role was installed successfully on both server1 first and server 2 second with the site servers accounts. The SUP Synchronizes successfully and I can see a large list of updates available for use but not downloaded of course. I have set WSUS option
to store updates locally and have plenty of space at the target destination.
So here is my issue, I have been working on this issue for the better part of a week and understand the error code from the ruleengine.log to be a permissions issue. I have also proved this out but creating a test ADR with minimal updates and applied NTFS perms
to the target path for Modify with the everyone group (testing purposes only). The updates downloaded successfully. So this puts me right back to where I was, knowing its a permissions issue but not understanding what permissions are needed. Let me explain
    further.
The best way to start is to show what perms I have to the target location for downloads/wsus/sup anything:
Path: \\Server1\UpdatesAndDefinitions    (permissions being applied to the UpdatesAndDefinitions root folder)
SCCMAdmin (account used for most SCCM tasks except for NA) / Modify / Share and NTFS
Server1$ (primary site server) / Modify / NTFS
Everyone / read and execute / NTFS and Share
There are other system generated perms but the above three are the important ones. So hence my confusion I know that the SCCMAdmin account or the Server its self has to be accessing the target directory so why is it failing with a permissions issue?
My next step was to enable Auditing on the target path. Doing so revealed just what I thought and through me into further frustration:
A network share object was accessed.
    Subject:
    Security ID:
    SYSTEM
    Account Name:
    SCCM-MPS$
    Account Domain:
    DSCI
    Logon ID:
    0x3e7
    Network Information:
    Source Address:
    fe80::306a:8827:8672:3ba5
    Source Port:
    50329
    Share Name: \\*\UpdatesAndDefinitions
A handle to an object was requested.
    Subject:
    Security ID:
    DSCI\sccmadmin
    Account Name:
    sccmadmin
    Account Domain:
    DSCI
    Logon ID:
    0xad903c
    Object:
    Object Server:
    Security
    Object Type:
    File
    Object Name:
    F:\UpdatesAndDefinitions
    Handle ID:
    0xf5c
    Process Information:
    Process ID:
    0x10cc
    Process Name:
    C:\Windows\explorer.exe

    ReadAttributes
    Access Mask:
    0x20080
    Privileges Used for Access Check:
    Restricted SID Count:
    0
Now I may not be the best I traversing through the mess of audit entry's and translating them, but from what I can see the two accounts that have the proper share and ntsf perms ive listed above are indeed the ones accessing the target location and the audit
code is success. I filter for failures and found no audits for failures whatsoever yet my downloads still fail religiously, unless of course I open myself up with the everyone group.
So next... I tried adding in the Network Service account with proper permissions, the Local Service Account, my user account, and all no go's.
Next... I remove the SUP roles from SCCM checked the logs for deinstall confirmations, and reinstalled these roles. No Go!
If anyone can assist I would be in your debt and very grateful.
Oh last note, but very important note I'm running SCCM 2012 SP1 CU4
    Thanks,
    Michael

I just tested with the everyone group further; I added everyone with modify for ntfs and just read only for share and downloads failed!
I then changed the share perms for everyone to change and the ntfs to read/execute and poof downloads complete! Obviously change share perms for everyone leaves me open which Id like to prevent, so finding what account is being used is crucial.
I have already tried adding all of the SCCM accounts I use and the servers themselves as change perms to share and ntfs and have not had any luck.

  • Can't find JDK w. installing JDev 11.1.2.4 on OSX Mavericks

    Hi all,
I need to install Jdeveloper 11.1.2.4 on my MacbookAir running OSX Mavericks.
I downloaded the jdevstudio11124install.jar file from oracle.com and installed some version of Java 1.6 from Apple.
I can start the install, but when I go to choose the default JDK to use, whenever I try to choose a folder it just says error something...
Does anybody have a clue on what to do so that I can chose a JDK when installing 11.1.2.4?
    Thanks in advance,
    nejo

    Hi!
    Thanks!
This line, from the first link, solved my problem.
    /usr/libexec/java_home --version 1.6.0
    --exec java -jar /Users/Fred/Desktop/jdevstudio11116install.jar
Obviously I replaced Fred with my username and jdev.....11116 with 11124.
I tried running that line previously but that was before I had installed java 1.6.
    Thanks again
