  • Messages on iPhone 4 (iOS 5.1.1) to Messages 8.0 on OSX Mavericks not working

    Hello All,
I have a very specific issue with my wifes iPhone 4 on iOS 5.1.1 using Messages to send to my MacBook Pro (MBP) on OSX Mavericks with version 8.0 of Messages.
I find that when ever she sends me a SMS via Messages going over Apples iCloud, that I don't get the message on the MBP and it shows with a red ! on her iPhone.
I have tested a number of different situations,
    1) At the moment, both my iPhone 4 (iOS 7.1) and MBP (Messages 8.0) are setup to receive via my mobile number.
When I send a test SMS from her iPhone to my mobile number, the SMS makes it to my iPhone, but not on the MBP Message, and she has a red ! on the SMS on her iPhone, I can try to resend the SMS a number of times and it never makes it to my MBP.
    2) I then logged out of iMessage on the MBP Message, so only my iPhone is setup to get SMS via iCloud.
When I send a test SMS from her iPhone to my mobile number, the SMS makes it to my iPhone and all further SMS sent now work and there is no more red ! on her iPhone.
    3) I then logged back into iMessage on the MBP and setup Messages to use my email address only.
I then send a SMS from her iPhone to my email address, the SMS makes it and I get it on the MBP Messages. I send a second SMS and that works too.
I then send a third SMS and that fails, there is now a red ! on the iPhone and no message on the MBP. After numerous re-sends and additional SMS to the same email address, I don't get anymore messages to the MBP.
When looking at the syslog on the MBP, the only logging I have at the time of the SMS' being set are:

Is anyone aware of a know issue with iOS 5.1.1 on iPhone 4 that has issues sending message via iCloud to Messages on OSX?
I am not able to reinstall iOS 5.1.1 as it's not allowed anymore, I can't upgrade to iOS 6.1.x as that is not allowed either.
I don't want to upgrade to iOS 7.1 as it's slow as anything on an iPhone 4 and Apple should have left iOS 6 as the last version for iPhone 4
    Thanks
    Josh

Thank you for the comment and the link.
Unfortunately what you have said is not very helpful and untrue. I have not caused the issues here, there seems to be a bug or design issues here between iOS 5.1.1 and Message 8.0 on OSX. That is what I am asking about.
Maybe what you may mean by your response is that by not upgrading to iOS 7.1, it will not be fixed.
But you can't say 100% that upgrading to iOS 7.1 is the fix, as you don't know 100% what the issue/bug/fault is.
As an aside, I am looking for a solution apart from updating from iOS 5.1.1 to iOS 7.1.
I do run iOS 7.1 on my iPhone 4 and have disabled as much as possible and it's still not as good as iOS 6 for speed and regret the upgrade.

  • Mavericks not downloading or showing up in "Purchases" window.

I don't know what else to try. I can initiate the download, and it shows up in Launch Pad, but the download never progresses.
It also doesn't show up in the "Purchases" window.
In Launch Pad, it looks like this:
Even after hours of waiting, it hasn't progressed.

Hello there, I've had the same issue all day, but I *think* I've fixed it, I'll be more sure in a few hours when the downloads actually had time to progress...
Pause the download by clicking on the app
Click and hold the app icon until you get the 'wobblng' effect and the little crosses come up
Click the cross and say yes to deleting the app
Re launch the app store and start over.
You can check that the app is downloading by using activity monitor (->Utilities. Select the "Network" tab in the app) to see if there's a continued spike in your "data recived". This is best seen whilst not downloading anything else so you have a 'rest' level, then begining the download. The jump in numbers and graphs will make it pretty clear.
NOTE: The app hasn't re-appeared in my purchased list on the app store. I deleted another app off that list and re-downloaded it for a comparison and that didn't come back either, but still downloaded successfully, so that's just probably just another one of the app stores delightful quirks and not nessiserily tied to the issue. But don't take my word for it =P
That's what I've done and so far so good

  • OS X Mavericks not downloading from app store

When I try to download the free upgrade through the app store, nothing happens. OS X Mavericks shows in my purchases list and has the option to download but again, not happens. I have a Mid-2010 MacBook using Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5
    Any ideas?

Try here >  Mac App Store: How to resume interrupted downloads
    If that doesn't help ...
Mavericks requires 8GB's or more of storage space.
Click your Apple menu icon top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click About This Mac > More Info > Storage
Make sure there's at least 15% free disk space.
If it's not a storage space issue ...
Disable anti virus software if installed
Make sure the firewall is turned off in System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Firewall
    Make sure Gatekeeper is enabled
Open System Preferences > Security & Privacy then select the General tab.
Make sure either Mac App Store or Mac App Store and identified developers is selected. If that area is grayed out, click the padlock icon to proceed.

  • Maverick not downloading from App Store, button turn back grey

    Hello,
I'm try to install Maverick on my mac but can't seem to download it from the app store. I already search a lot on that subject and tried many thing, I just can get it to work.
The first time I downloaded it, a download icon appeared in my dock. It was not moving, me not realising it is a 5 gb dl I canceld it. Afterward, I tried to download it from the last purchace user interface of the apple store. When I clikc the grey button, it turn dark grey and the goes back to light gray, displaying no download and not putting any maverick download icon in the dock.
I emptied the cache of the app store through the debug menu, nothing changed after I restarted my computer. Here are my mac specs:
    Mac OS X version 10.6.8
    Model Name:          iMac
      Model Identifier:          iMac8,1
Processor Name:          Intel Core 2 Duo
      Processor Speed:          2,4 GHz
      Number Of Processors:          1
      Total Number Of Cores:          2
      L2 Cache:          6 MB
      Memory:          3 GB
      Bus Speed:          1,07 GHz
I have no firewall, no mack keeper, little snitch is disabeled and no antivirus.
Can anybody give a hand on this? Could my hardware be to old to use maverick?

Also wanted to mention that I did not find any file being downloaded on my computer. Maybe it's hidden in a temporary folder, but I doubt it even if some user did solve their issue but finding it on their computer.
    Still not working

  • Mavericks Not Downloading!!

I have with me, a 13" MacBook Pro with OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.5. When I went to the Mac App Store to download Mavericks, firstly it shows a "download" button rather than the regular "install" button, and then shows this error: "You have updates available for other accounts. Sign in to b*****@****.com to update applications for that account." Now, this e-mail id is not mine and I've never encountered this id ever in my life. Please help!

You installed a hacked app, originally from the Mac App Store. It contains the receipt for a different app, downloaded using an account that you don't control. You need to identify and remove the hacked app.
Important: The app you need to remove is not necessarily the one named in the App Store alert. For example, if the App Store says you need to update "Twitter," the hacked app may be "Angry Birds" or something else entirely. Don't make any assumptions about which app you're looking for. To find it, you have to carry out a systematic search.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:
    kMDItemAppStoreHasReceipt=1
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
In the Finder, press command-F to open a search window, or select
    File ▹ Find
from the menu bar. In the search window, select
    Search: This Mac
from the row of tokens below the toolbar. Below that is a popup menu initially showing Kind. From that menu, select  Other...
A sheet will drop down. In that sheet, select Raw Query and click OK or press return.
Now there will be a text box to the right of popup menu. Click in that box and paste (command-V).
The search window will show all the App Store products you've installed. Compare those search results with the list of your purchases from the App Store. To see the complete list, you may need to unhide hidden purchases. If any apps were download from the App Store using other Apple ID accounts that you control, sign in to the store under each of those ID's and check the purchases.
At least one of the items listed in the search window is not among your purchases in the App Store. Move each such item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator password. Empty the Trash.
Log out and log back in. Test.

  • Maverick not downloading

Attempted to download Maverick.  Not showing in launchpad or application folders.  Deleted purchase on app store and tried to download again.  Will not go past the install app button.  System currently running OS X Lion 10.7.5.  Not sure what to do.  Have tried multiple restarts.

Also wanted to mention that I did not find any file being downloaded on my computer. Maybe it's hidden in a temporary folder, but I doubt it even if some user did solve their issue but finding it on their computer.

  • OSX Mavericks not able to print to Canon Image ProGraf 825?

Since upgrading to Mavericks, I have not been able to print to our Canon Image ProGraf 825.
    anybody else having similar issues?

Today I went Canon's USA website for this printer's drivers, and when it asked for what operating system, I left it on OSX (Detected), and there is now an imagePROGRAF Printer Driver Update Ver.1.00 for OS X v10.9.
I installed it and it now works.

  • Why are some of the new voices on OS X Mavericks not downloading?

Whenever I check off Federica, Paola, Luca, and/or Otoya, it will begin to download the voice, but it then stops at around 10% and this message pops up. Please help me! I want to download the male Japanese voice, so I stop talking like a girl when I speak Japanese!

OR you could just ask for specifics instead of calling it a 'pointless post'.
    Specifics:
    iMac v. 10.8, 2 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo
Photoshop quits about 10 minutes into working on it no matter what I am doing. There are no specific causes to it quiting (particular font, selection, etc.). It just quits no matter what around 10 minutes into designing and gives says 'Photoshop has unexpectedly quit'. Adobe Acrobat quits while launching.
I have not had time to check all of the other programs in the master collection because PS is my main design tool and I am crippled without it. I assume since two of the main systems are shutting down that there are a few others that will shut down too. Illustrator, Indesign, Audition, Bridge, DW, and After Effects work fine so far.

  • Apple mail in OSX Mavericks not saving preferences changes

Earlier today Apple Mail went buggy, refusing to send messages, displaying no email messages in any box, and hanging.  I deleted the com.apple.mail directory in an effort to salvage my email.  I got the email back, but now Apple Mail will not save changes made in preferences and will not allow me to reinstall MailTags.  I have no idea what is going on here.  Any help would be most welcome.

I've been having this problem on all my devices since using mavericks. And it's not only with gmail - also with private mail-clients. Looking for a descent fix!!!
