OSX-partition not identified after trojan-attack with win7-partion deactivated

Hello,
1. After a hacker attack on my windows partition, a hacker hijacked this system with the ukash-trojan in a newer variant (a very bad and good programmed trojan). I could not make any actions as administrator and I could only run the system under safe mode. Boot Camp was destroyed/deactivated under windows by the trojan.
2. I idiotically deactivated the windows partition.
3. The Mac don't restart under OSX Snow Leppard: operation system not found.
4. Booting anything from DVD-Rom-Drive is blocked, but the drive sounds, as if it is ok (booting by pressing the C-/option (command-key) key doesn't work).
5. the Mac-hardware test under F2 say, that everything is ok with the hardware.
6. Driving the MacBook Pro with another (this) computer via data cable doesn't work.
7. Any USB-DVD-Rom-Drive could not be identified.
Are there any possibilities, like esc,F8,F10,F12 at Windows-PCs, to define the booting conditions?
Thank you very much ! (I am sorry for my bad English).

A little information or knowledge can be dangerous in some hands.

  • Printer connected to Airport Express only works on OSX Partition, not Windows 7 Partition

I have a mid 2012 Macbook Pro, 13 inch with 2.9ghz processor and 8GB RAM that has a Boot Camp partition on it running Windows 7 Professional. I have had an Airport Express base station that I purchased in 2013, and have a printer connected to it, a HP Laserjet 1102w which is plugged into the Airport. When I am on the OSX partition, the wireless printing works perfectly, however, on the Windows partition, it will not 'find' the printer under a list of available printers. This is annoying as I primarily use Windows and have to restart my computer every time I need to print something. Is there any way to fix this?

You might want to take a look at Printopia to see if it will do what you want. There is a free trial, so you will know for sure before you buy.
The upside with Printopia is that printing from the iPhone will work just as if you had an AirPrint printer.
The downside with Printopia is that you must have a Mac running on the network to be able to print.
Printopia - AirPrint to Any Printer - Print from iPad - Print from iPhone ...
I have no interest in Printopia other than that as a customer.

  • Can't read pdf's after trojan attack

Hey everyone. I recently had a crippling trojan attack on my computer. I though i was going to have to reformat until i replaced my registry files. That worked, i also spent many days with the help of a spyware website forum to cleanse my computer back to health. It's clean and running good now. But there were a few changes in a couple things. One of which is my Adobe reader will not open pdf's. It just shows a red X in the corner. I tried reinstalling Adobe Reader 9 but was told it was on a resource that was unavailable. I'm sure the trojan just got rid of a few important files and i just need to figure out which ones, or reinstall the whole thing, but it wont let me do that either. What should i do? THX, Jerry.

This OS is only 3 months old. I have been doing that quite a bit last couple years. I only have most everything backed up on cd's right now. It's time consuming. I would rather not reinstall, but if i have to i will.

  • IWeb not opening after some issues with an existing site...

    Hi there~
I’m a relatively new Mac user and a former PC/Dreamweaver user. I’m having a bit of an issue with iWeb. I’ll do my best to keep what happened relatively brief:
    1. I had created and published a site a couple of months ago, but the page that contained photo albums seemed to have become corrupted. Every time I tried to open that page, iWeb would crash.
    2. I recreated that page but then was not able to delete the corrupted version. So I recreated the whole site.
    3. I published the new site, and everything seemed to be working well in the live version.
    4. To avoid confusion in the future, I wanted to get rid of the old site. When I deleted that site, I saw that it said something about deleting it from the Web as well. I realized that this may cause problems because most of the pages would have the same names, but I was hopeful that since the new site had all of the pages I could just republish.
    5. The new site did indeed get messed up after I deleted the old site. So I set the new site to republish, and then I got an error message.
    6. I figured just for safety’s sake I would undo the deletion of the old site and just leave it for a while in the hopes that the new site would then work again.
    7. After I did this, the old files reappeared, but then iWeb froze. (I think... My memory is a little fuzzy here...)
    8. I closed and reopened iWeb, but all that appeared was that little right-hand box that lets you see the properties of certain things (Page, Photos, Text, etc). I also restarted the computer, and now when I open iWeb, that little box is still all that I’m getting.
I grabbed what I could from the live version and my history files so that I can recreate the site from scratch if I need to, so I’m not terribly worried about getting my files back. I did have another site created in iWeb that seemed to be fine, it would be nice to not have to start over with that one, but obviously I can if needed. Maybe those files can be found elsewhere on my computer?
So will I be able to get iWeb back? Do I need to reinstall it? If so, how do I do that? (Maybe that’s a question for another forum. iLife was installed on the Mac when we got it, I looked briefly for the files on the Applications CD but got a little scared off when I saw something about bundled applications...)
Thanks so much for any help. I called tech support and was directed here, this is new for me, so I hope I’m going about this in the right way. I’ll spend some time looking around to see if anyone has addressed this elsewhere, I just wanted to get things down while it was all relatively fresh in my head.
    Thank you!
    Jen

  • Partitions not mounting after Archive and Install

I have just installed 10.4 after putting it off for ages. My machine is G4DA with 1.5ghz processor upgrade and a Sonnet ATA133 card for hooking up my 180gb Seagate 7200.7 HD.
I had the HD partitioned into three equal 60gb partitions. One for system, users and apps, one for my video stuff and one for my audio stuff.
The install went fine (Archive and Install option) onto the System partition. However after restarting, only the System partition is mounted. Disk Utility recognises the other two partitions (they have the generic document icon next to them rather than the little HD icon). When I run the repair it tells me there is nothing wrong with either partition.
Disk Warrior also sees the partitions and also repairs them fine without any errors. Even the VISE installer for some of my software installs lists the partitions as available to install on but neither mount.
I have been able to recover the data from the partitions using Data Rescue. Just wanted to know whether there was any way of getting the partitions to mount via the command line or otherwise before I resort to reformatting the drive.

The Terminal.app command diskutil will do that. Launch it and type
man diskutil, hit the return key, and read all about it.

  • AE2712G kb/ms not working after downgrade win8 to win7

I have the AE2712G & have downgraded from win8 to win7. Under win8, my keyboard & mouse worked fine.
I can't get them working with win7. All drivers are installed & the WMIHook utility too.
Is there something else I need? How does it communicate with the AIO?

  • Z400 Discs with EFI partition not mounting after Win 7 Pro upgrade

HP z400: After a repair/upgrade of Win 7 Pro (64) sp1, any external disc with an EFI partition will not mount.  Drive will be present in BIOS and Disc Management, though without a letter. Unable to assign a drive letter.  All other discs mount correctly.  Drives with EFI partition will mount on other PCs.  All drivers appear to be current and fuctional.
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

I figured it out... after two weeks of head-scratching, I finally found the cause.
I run MacDrive 8 so i can read discs with HFS+ formatting.  That program needed to be fully uninstalled and re-installed after the upgrade.  I had de-activated it prior to the upgrade, but it needed more than that.  Everything works now as expected.
But wouldn't it be ince if Windows would read mac discs natively?

  • Boot Camp partition not bootable after update

    Hi All, hi Loner T!
After an OSX update I lost my Boot Camp partition. Reading you replies here on the forum, i was able to save my important files through testdisk, for what i'm really thankful! Following your instructions in this thread (Bootcamp disk0s4 gone after Yosemite update) the bootcamp partition finally appeared in finder and disk utility.
But sudo gdisk /dev/disk0 returns with this:
    Kovacs-Peter-Attilas-MacBook-Pro:~ kovacspeterattila$ Sudo gdisk /dev/disk0
    Password:
    GPT fdisk (gdisk) version 1.0.0
Warning: Devices opened with shared lock will not have their
    partition table automatically reloaded!
    Partition table scan:
      MBR: protective
      BSD: not present
      APM: not present
      GPT: present
Found valid GPT with protective MBR; using GPT.
    Command (? for help):
So if it is able i would avoid reinstalling windows, and all the applications with your help. I saw many people asking you about this case, so i hope you may can help me as well.
    Thank you!

  • OSX will not start after reboot from single user mode

    Hello,
Yesterday my iBook G4 was only starting in BASH mode. I've looked at discussions describing Kernel Panic and have followed the advice posted to the following post:
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=1553062#1553062
When I reboot I get past the language setup and the boot progress screen/progress bar gets almost complete before going to a continuously stalling/reloading blue screen.
    When I try the command:
    rm /var/db/.AppleSetupDone
described in one of the responses I get a 'No such file or directory' message
I assume that as when I try:
    cd /System/Library/CoreServices/Setup\ Assistant.app/Contents/MacOS
    It returns '-rwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 58912 16 Aug 21:10 Setup Assistant'
it is the file that is missing.
As the discussion thread I was following seemed to go off on a bunch of other tangents (and was completed), I am hoping somebody might have suggestions for my specific problem under this new discussion.

    Welcome To  Discussions Kongxyz!
It will help if you first post some background info.
    "...only starting in BASH mode."
Explain exactly what was happening, and what the screen displayed.
Exactly which model iBook G4 is it?
    What is the Processor speed?
What size is the Hard Drive, and how much space is available?
How much RAM is installed, and is it original or added?
Which version number of Panther 10.3.x is installed
What peripherals do you have connected? A keyboard, mouse, printer, external drive or modem, router, etc?
What happened between the last time the iBook started successfully, and when it didn't?
Have you made any changes, like upgrading the system, updated or installed any applications or programs, etc?
Have there been any unusual occurences, like freezes, crashes, power outages, etc?
Are you able to startup from the system install disc to run Disk Repair?
    Have you run Repair Permissions?
    Instructions posted below.
Is the Mac shutdown overnight, or does it run 24/7?
Have you ever run any routine Maintenance procedures?
THESE ARE THE STEPS FOR USING DISK UTILITY TO REPAIR YOUR HD
1.Insert the System Install disk, Mac OS X CD-ROM disk, or Restore DVD disk, then restart the computer while holding the C key. Use the System disk, of the OS, that is currently installed.
2.Once started up from CD or DVD, on the Menubar at the top of the screen, choose Disk Utility from the Installer contextual menu.
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from disc to access Disk Utility.
    3.Click the First Aid tab.
4.Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
5.Select your Mac OS X volume, if necessary.
6.Click Repair. If DU reports errors it has fixed, re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported.
7.Repeat steps 5 & 6, but select the Hard Drive this time. It's usually the first listed with the manufacturer's model number. Make note of the S.M.A.R.T. status.
8.When finished, select Quit Disk Utility from the Installer menu.
9.Select Quit Installer from the Installer menu.
10.In the resulting pop-up window, choose restart.
11.After the computer has restarted, you can eject the CD.
TO REPAIR PERMISSIONS ON THE STARTUP DISK
1.Open Disk Utility, located in Applications/Utilities, and select the startup disk in the left column.
    2.Click First Aid.
3.Click Verify Disk Permissions to test permissions or Repair Disk Permissions to test and repair permissions. (I never "Verify". Just run "Repair".)
Rerun RP until the only messages reported, are listed here Spurious Permissions Errors Using: 10.3.x, authored by Michael Conniff.
When "Repair Permissions" is complete. Quit "Disk Utility".

  • External USB drive partition not mounting after upgrade to 10.6.6

    Hello,
I have a Mac Mini and have an external HDD (Seagate GoFlex Desk) setup with two partitions with "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)" format. After the recent OS upgrade, only one partition mounts. I have tried to verify/repair from DiskUtility and it shows all green over there. It just fails to mount. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi,
I have the same symptoms : external HD with 2 partitions. Only one mounts.
I can mount the other one in disk utility and access files in terminal. But the partition doesn't show in Finder or any apps.
I've tried to disable journal and enable it again but nothing changes.
Only message I get in the console is when I eject the disk using disk utility :

  • Mail will not quit after sending message with attachment

    B&W G3-450
    OSX 10.2.8
    640 MB RAM
I recently switched to using an email account through AOL Instant Messenger (AIM.com). The only way to connect to their service is via IMAP. I have all the correct settings, I can send and receive email no problem.
However, when I attempt to send a message that contains an attachment (.zip, jpeg, anything) the email will send just find. The problem is when I try to quit mail it wont' respond. I can continue to send or receive after sending the message but it will not quit. Trying to log out does not work either as it reports a problem with Mail that prevents closing the session. The only thing I can do is force quit mail.
The next time I use mail it works fine and there are no problems. The only issue seems to be this hanging problem. I've never experienced this problem using POP3 accounts.
    Any suggestions?

Does anyone have a suggestion here?

  • Partitions not deleted after data compression

    Hi,
I ran compress job to compress data in a cube, but the job were cancelled because of short dump. I checked the job log, the compression were finished, but the partitions deletion were not finished successfully. So after compression, there are still large partitions for the cube. Could anyone help me with this issue? Thank you very much.

The Terminal.app command diskutil will do that. Launch it and type
man diskutil, hit the return key, and read all about it.

  • OSX Partition Not Recognized

I have a year and a half old macbook pro that I've got 10.6 and XP through bootcamp running on. I was working on a variety of things last Saturday morning only in OSX (bootcamp, parallels were both off). As of Saturday, I hadn't installed any new software for over two weeks (and the last I installed was the Photoshop CS4 trial).
I walked away from my computer to play frisbee. My fiance later unplugged it while the lid was still open and let the batteries run down. When I got home, I plugged it back in, expecting it to wake up once the battery was charged enough (aka wait for it to do what it usually does when I run it dead).
The battery charged to over 40% (based on the LED indicator). I pressed the power button, waited an unusually long period of time, and then watched as my computer booted into windows. I shut it down and restarted, holding the option key to bring up the boot menu. Instead of the usual two options between Macintosh HD and Bootcamp, only Bootcamp was available. I booted windows again to explore further, and I discovered that the mouse movements are very glitchy (both when using the trackpad and an external mouse). I can't access the macintosh partition from windows, but that's normal (from what I remember).
I reset the PRAM, but that didn't help. Does anyone have any advice, or even a clue as to what might have happened? Could a small power surge do something like this (it seems unlikely to me, since the logic board appears to be fully functional)?

Does Disk Utility do anything that fsck doesn't do, or is it the same program?
It is almost the same. Disk Utility's repair is very conservative -- it won't intentionally do anything that results in loss of file data or "thrashes" the drive attempting repairs it is unlikely to be able to complete; instead, it stops with an error.
fsck has various options, including one that stops on every error & asks if you want it repaired or skipped, & one that assumes a "yes" answer for every error & attempts to repair it even if it might cause data loss. You can read more about this in the fsck man page entry. Note in particular the caution regarding using the "y" ("yes") option.
In a sense, Disk Utility is a "smart" version of fsck: it is somewhat like fsck plus some built-in logic about when to attempt a repair & when to stop.

    Hi,
I have setup Cisco Identity Service Engine (1.1.1) with Wireless LAN Controller (7.2.110)

How can I do with this situation cause everything is working fine but only the browser URL that is not change to the preconfigure one.

  • Storage location is not updated after posting GR with Mvt type 107(Valuated GR blocked stock)

    Hi experts,
Before posting GR through Movement type 107 (valuated GR blocked stock) we can see the storage location field in MIGO screen and able to enter value into this field. But after posting GR when we retrieve the material document we are finding that the field (storage location) is blank, i.e. it's not updated at all. When we check the stock in MMBE we find that no quantity is updated for valuated GR blocked stock.
We want the storage location to be updated while posting GR with 107 Mvt type.
    Any idea Please?
    Points assured.
    Thanks
    Amitava

SAP describes it in help.sap.com: Since the material is not to be added to the inventory yet, do not enter a storage location.
If you require a storage location, then I assume that your design does not match with the design of SAP, you are using a function to solve a gap which is not foreseen by SAP for this case.
Especially the 107 is usually representing stock which is still in transfer but you are already the legal owner and have to show the value of those goods in your books.
