OSX reinstall deleted iLife

Greetings!
I used Disk Utility to erase the hard drive and install a clean version of OSX 10.9.5. Unfortunately, ILife suite did not reinstall with OSX. I have an old "CPU Drop-In DVD" with iLife version 11 (for Mac OSX 10.6.3), and I am wondering if I can install this version of iLife on my computer with OSX 10.9.5? If not, I'd appreciate any suggestions for how to get iLife reinstalled on the computer without having to buy a new version.
Thanks in advance for any help!
Mark

Thank you kindly for your reply, mende1.
I should have specified that the iLife DVD came with an older MacBook Pro (purchased 2008 vs. 2010). Given this fact, might there be a problem with installing and updating this version of iLife?
Thanks again for your help.

    Hello
I need to do a fresh install of Mac OSX but I have the windows installed by Boot Camp
It is possible to make a new installation OSX without deleting Windows in Boot Camp
    Thanks

    Should be not problem.
You might want to manually erase the OS X partition with Disk Utility booted from the installation disk to create a clean install, unless you want to reinstall (old archive and install) and keep your old files.
    But do not repartition!

  • App hung on "waiting"; during update, I lost my wifi connection; now cannot delete to reinstall (no X), syc does not help; itunes store says it is installed and I cannot reinstall; deleting from itunes and synching does not remove "hung app"; HELP

App hung on "waiting"; during update, I lost my wifi connection and the app hung; now cannot delete to reinstall (no X), synching does not help; itunes app store says it is installed, therefore I cannot reinstall; deleting the app from itunes and synching does not reinstall the app on the ipod; the app developers have not helped and told me to check with Apple (which I am doing, since I am past my 90 day tech support). Hoping someone can help with this hung "waiting' app problem.

    - First try resetting the iPod:
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Next download the app on the computer and try to sync.
    - Last, restore from backup.

  • Iphoto won't open.  Reinstalled from iLife.  Little thing just spins and spins.  Any suggestions? disk and still nothing.

iPhoto won't open.  Little circle/wheel icon just keeps spinning.  Reinstalled from iLife disk, and still no luck.  Any suggestions?

What version of iPhoto? Assuming 09 or later:
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

  • HT1338 reinstall deleted iphoto

    Hi,
Can someone please tell us how to reinstall deleted iPhoto?
    Thank you in advance.

You will need to reinstall it, and that can be done from either a Time Machine Backup, or a clone of your HDD kept on an external drive, or from your ORIGINAL install disks.
This means for example if you upgraded to 10.6 from a Retail Snow Leopard DVD you won't have iPhoto on there, rather you will need to extract it from the original Install DVD.
If you need to get your iPhoto from  an older DVD say, 10.5 DVD, then the best method is to extract the iPhoto app, from that DVD using the application Pacifist. downloadable from this link.

  • Reinstall Preloaded iLife Apps?

I just bought a brand new Retina 5K iMac.  I attempted to migrate all my apps over from my old computer, but my Adobe CC apps and Microsoft Office Suite didn't migrate, just all the junky odds and ends apps I've accumulated over the years.  So since I have to go through the hassle of manually installing my major apps, I think I'd like to start from scratch, reformat the hard drive, and reinstall Yosemite on a nice, clean drive.  But if I do that, will I be able to reinstall the iLife apps that came preloaded (iPhoto, Garage Band, iMovie, etc.)?

    Thanks for the response, Dah•veed.
Well, I'm logged into the App Store, and I see a list of the apps I've acquired through the App Store. But I don't see any way to "accept" the apps. There's a gray button to the far right of each app that reads either "Downloaded" (grayed out), "Open," "Install," "Update," or "Download." Can I assume I've somehow accepted these apps, and that they'd be available to be installed after I wipe the drive?

  • Why can't I reinstall my iLife suite of apps on my Mac Mini after having reinstalled Snow Leopard OSX?

Unfortunately my Mac Mini I use for audio production work and web design got slower and slower until one day it just gave up! I blame the internet for this, as before I started using the internet on this computer it was fine, nice and fast without any problems.
I tried reinstalling just the OSX but that didn't work, so I ended up erasing the disk with a full 35-pass option which failed itself after the eleventh pass, but it had still done what I wanted and completely erased the hardisk, so I wasn't bothered. However, now in Utilities, it wasn't finding any hardisk!!! I powered off and thankfully this time the disk was showing and so I tried installing the OSX again and this time it worked!
Next it was time to reinstall iLife that had come with the Mac Mini. No chance! Same error message every time to contact the software manufacturer!!! I've read on the communities that after 2012 this version of iLife apparently doesn't work. Is this true? If so then Apple is ripping customers off. Why should we have to keep upgrading all the time? As the old saying goes, "if it ain't broken, don't fix it!" If this is true that iLife won't work after 2012 then basically Apple is saying that its products are so crap that they won't work after a few years!! Surely not. I've also read in the communities that one person had to pay another $18 out for an iLife suite that works, what crap! Whatever came with the computer should work with the computer and not be limited to just a few years life and we shouldn't have to pay out for another disc when the original has be kept securely in its original packaging! I have an old Windows XP PC which is still going strong today and up until a year ago I had an old Windows 3.1 PC which was still working 22 years after purchase and I still had occasional tasks to carry out on it at DOS level!!
So I'm beginning to wonder whether I should go back to PCs if Apple computers have such a limited lifespan.
I look forward to your comments.

Within seconds of selecting the disk and clicking on the install button the following error message comes up:
    The installation failed.
    An unknown installation error occurred.
The Installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance.

  • Help with iLife '11 after OSX reinstall!!

I have a 2011 iMac and when it was purchased came with iLife 11. I have since upgraded to both Lion and Mountain Lion, and had iLife all along the way. I recently had to do a fresh reinstall of Mountain Lion on my iMac, and now iLife is nowhere to be found and naturally, the App Store has no record of me actually purchasing the software, so a reinstall from there is out of the question. Is there any way to get this software back without paying the $50 or whatever it is? And before anybody asks, I did not have a Time Machine backup of my computer from before.

I understand why it wasn't included in the reinstall, I'm just wondering if Apple has any record of my purchase and can apply it to my apple account. I am the original owner, however iLife was pre-installed and so I never had to install it through the App Store. As a matter of fact, It started with Snow Leopard so I'm not even enirely sure the App Store was installed by default at the time I bought it (it's hard to remember).

  • New Harddrive; OSX reinstall; admin priviledges

My haddrive on my iMac G-5 recently died. I took my iMac to an aurthorized Apple dealer. They had to trash my old harddrive (couldn't even run data recovery) and install a new one. They also installed the operating system (OSX Tiger). However, I have now gone to my Install Discs to install my bundled software (mainly iLife) and the admin dialog box comes up asking for the password. Nothing unexpected, however, I don't know the admin password since someone at the Mac dealer did the install. Am I missing something obvious? It has been several years since I set the iMac up I do not remember the steps I took to set up my account. Any helpful hints or suggestions?

It's hard to really know how to help you. I can simply offer some additional reading material in which you may find a solution:
    A.
Assuming that you are using a recent build of OS X, go to /Applications/Utilities and launch the app called Keychain Access. Go to the Window pulldown menu and select "Keychain First Aid". Enter your password, set the radio button to "Repair", and click "Start".
    B.
Symptom: After applying an update or some kind of instance where a shutdown occurred, upon rebooting, Mac OS X will demand a password for System.keychain. No password will ever work, not even root.
    NOW FOR THE SOLUTION...
WARNING: This assumes that you are competent with the command line AND you have a working copy of OS X somewhere else nearby, preferably on an external disk partition. I'm not going to explain the basics of using the Terminal or how to access both of your systems at the same time. If you are afraid of screwing up, simply reinstall Mac OS X and say a few prayers that it will fix itself (assuming that another Software Update won't mess it up again).
The problem lies with a file deep in the bowels of OS X. It's /var/db/SystemKey. What it does is that it tells Mac OS X how to unlock the system keychain. It only knows the System.keychain specific to the computer, so if you import another System.keychain as a replacement, SystemKey won't know how to unlock it and you'll keep getting the annoying dialogs prompting for System.keychain's password.
So without further ado, this is how to stop the annoying dialogs once and for all:
    1. AS THE ROOT USER, you will need to copy over /var/db/SystemKey from a known good system to your problematic system. Make sure that you preserve the permissions (0400). It is advisable that you are NOT booted from your problematic system.
    2. If you have a good System.keychain, copy that over to /Library/Keychains on the problem system. If you accidentally deleted System.keychain, you can execute the following (again AS ROOT):
    +/usr/sbin/systemkeychain -C -f+
This creates a new, working, empty System.keychain and effectively overwrites the old keychain.
    3. Reboot to your system. You will be presented with different, more familiar (Change, Change All) dialogs. If you had any passwords saved in your list of preferred networks, just put them back in.

  • Recently Reinstalled; No iLife?!

I recently reinstalled OSX due to a problem with Pro Tools and GarageBand. Upon reinstallation I realized that iLife was no longer installed on my computer. It had come with it installed, so I figured it was on the OSX install disc. I looked through both discs, and nothing. There was no iLife install disc supplied with the computer. I don't want to have to pay 80 dollars for something I already had. Is there a way to download it and install it again?

The second disc is iLife. You probably choose only to install the OS. You can re-install it again and make sure that all the iLife applications are checked in the install list. I think there is an "option" button right before the install for you to choose what to install on it.

  • OSX reinstall problem + Partioning Issue = scared crazy

I decided to start anew, create 2 partitions and install the two os's. the problem started when I made a OSX partition and tried to reinstall tiger. the mac verified the disc but it doesnt install the os. I can't understand it. I tried to clear out everything using drive genius and make new partitions but nothing seems to work. Now, i dont have osx let along ubuntu. Can anyone please help? I dont even know where to start. I'm afraid i deleted a partition i wasn't supposed to.

hi barry, thanks for your time.
I'm not worried about my data. It is all backed up. I just need to install the mac tiger os and just get the mac running but everytime I try, it verifies the install disc, tries to install, then tells me an error.

  • How can i reset my macbook pro without not deleting ilife pack?

Hello ! my macbook pro(13) stars more slowly then before . i am sure there are many unnecessary files that should be deleted. i want my macbook pro to be lke the fist day. So how can i reset my macbook pro without not deleting the ilife pack. ?

Your issue may not have anything to do with your files, it could be a corrupted cache file, reinstalling your OS and files from backup could be overkill and too much work.
Run ALL of the free OnyX's checks, cleaning and maintainence aspects (not the log files) and reboot at the end.
    http://www.titanium.free.fr/
Your machine will act a bit slow until the caches and spotlight are rebuilt, but it should act faster
Your next step is to use OnyX Verify Preferences and "show only corrupt plist" files
If you find some, make a note of their location and remove then to your desktop and reboot and start the programs responsible, reset your preferences.

  • Error reinstalling DVD iLife

Error reinstalling DVD applicazioni  iLife alfter reinstallando osx  snow Leopard on iMac Intel i5.
    Watt can i do?
    Thank you

    Hi Frank,
Could be many things, we should start with this...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at the top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)

  • I am unable to import new photos in iPhoto 11. Perhaps I should just reinstall from iLife disk? Will it affect my photos in any way?

    Hello,
I have iPhoto 11 installed on my MacBook. I am now unable to import new photos using USB or by plugging the camera directly into the laptop. Never had that probem before with this camera. Perhaps just reinstall iPhoto from the iLife disk?

    Hello Terence,
Okay I will try reformating the camera's card. However all is well when I export photos to my iMac at home or onto my iPad.
If your suggestion does not work should I try reinstalling iPhoto from the iLife disk? If so, how do I go about doing that or is there a website somewhere explaining this?
