OSX Reinstall DVD Help

I need to reinstall OSX but have lost the install DVD. I either need a replacement or a download to make my own. Is it possible to make my own? I know you can with Windows, don't know about OSX.

Call AppleCare for replacement disks:

The elements are too scattered to build a replacement DVD.

  • Quit Midway Through OSX Reinstall. HELP!

So I had to reinstall my Mac Mini's OSX after it got caught in an endless reboot cycle. I ran diskutil from the start up CD and erased my hard drive. Then I proceeded to install. Midway through however, the progress stopped and after 30 minutes, I decided to try and quit the install with hopes of starting over after I rebooted. Unfortunately, now when I reboot and hold C to try to reinstall the Mac OS, all I get is a blank blue screen! What can I do? My Mac Mini simply will not read the CD anymore.

There are many different things that can be done and several different reasons for the hang. First, can you hear the CD spin up at all? Try to reboot the machine and hold the "left click" on your mouse to eject the disk. Re-insert the disk and try holding C again. If that doesn't work, press and hold the Option key and try to select your disk that way. Try those first and see what happens. Also check these links out for some insight into what's going on. If your disk is 10.3 as in your info, use the first link. If you're using 10.5 use the second. Hope this helps you out!

macbook pro   Mac OS X (10.4.9)   URGENT

It is because the normal installation DVD is only written for PowerPC Macs. The MacBook is an Intel Mac. Also some newer PowerPC Macs than 10.4 won't take the retail installation disk. The restrictions are documented here:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=25517
How this changes with the release of Leopard currently slated for October, is currently not known.

  • Reinstalling DVD Studio Pro

When reinstalling DVD Studio Pro, can I just reinstall it without having to delete any part of the application or any related files?

Well, as it turns out, a reinstallation did not help at all, because DVDSP is still doing the same strange things as before. I actually removed all DVDSP preference files and the application itself before I reinstalled, and there is no change. I also created another user account, but there is no difference there either. The problems are:
    Unable to access "preferences"
Unable to access "open file" menu
    Crashes
    Unable to close application (sometimes)
I have removed all the applications I installed after my initial installation of DVDSP thinking there may be a conflict. I have turned off any applications set to open at login. I have racked my brain trying to figure out what might be the problem, but I come up with zero.
This is the only application that has troubles. Everything else works beautifully on my system.
It looks as though I might have to do a clean install of the OS (which is something I was really trying to avoid) unless someone else has some other suggestions?
I have a powerbook which has all the same applications installed as my desktop and there is no problem with DVDSP.

    Thank you

    Hi Frank,
Could be many things, we should start with this...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at the top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)

It's not Logic that can't find them, it's your Komplete apps, though if you did exaclty as you say I can see no reason why they can't.
Do you know where the apps installed them in the first place? I chose a non-standard locarion for mine, but I'm sure it installs sounds to your documents folder/native instruments/name of app.
Go into the prefs of each app and choose the library location button on the library tab and point it to the relevant folder in documents/native instruments and see if that works

Photoshop CS5 crashes when trying to print. I recently updated to Mac OSX Mavericks. Help?

Hi, Chris. Thanks for giving this query a look. I have the same problem. All documents print on my HP Deskjet 932C except Photoshop files since I updated to Mavericks.
    My CS5 version is 9.0 x64. Mavericks is 10.9.4.
I checked the HP drivers and HP doesn't have one for OS X newer than 10.4.
I tried printing out the detailed report (very long!) and this page rejected the reply as spam. Can we provide the text as an attachment?

  • Will upgrading to mountain lyon solve having lost the reinstall DVD?

The MBP cannot find the OSX, and either the HDD or connector has failed.  If you can get the installation DVD to work, start the installation process and when the menu bar appears on the display, select 'Utilities'.  From the drop down menu, select Disk Utility>First Aid and run 'Verify' and 'Repair'.  If unsuccessful, a new HDD is in your future.
If you cannot get the DVD to function, then a trip to an Apple store is your best option.
    Ciao.

  • Installing MAC OSX- reinstalling - HELP!!!

My computer had a system failure so I am trying to reinstall the MAC OSX system and start over. When i get to the "select a destination" part of the install, there is no destination to select. my computer also doesnt sound good. like the fan is out of wack or the disk that is spinning is not spinning right. Please give me some advice to try at home before i have to take it into a mac store!!!

Hi Lindsey, Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Did you run "Apple Hardware Test"?
If CD's came with your computer it is on a CD labeled "Hardware Test" To test with CD, insert the CD and restart holding the "c" key until you see the spinning gear.
    If DVD insert DVD then:
    1. Turn on or restart the computer.
    2. Immediately press and hold the Option key. After a few seconds, the Startup Manger screen appearsThe Startup Manager scans for available volumes.
    3. Optional: Clicking the circular arrow rescans for other volumes, including NetBoot Server volumes. You can eject any disc in the drive or open an empty tray-loading drive by holding down the Command (Apple) and Period (.) keys. The Command-Period key combination will also close the drive. After inserting a CD capable of starting up your computer, you could rescan for volumes.
    4. Click the startup volume you want to use. "Hardware Test"
If hardware test does not mount or does not run bring the computer to Authorized Apple Repair.
    Good luck, let us know.
btw - System 10.0? That is really beta and troublesome. If I were re-installing I wouldn't do it with 10.0. You can pick up some 10.3 install disks reasonably inexpensively and have a MUCH more stable system.

  • After OSX reinstall, my screen goes to Darwin! Help!

I reinstalled OSX on my system after OSX would not load. Now when I log in, the screen goes to black and I get a welcome message from Darwin! It asks me for my username and password, but I can not get to my system.
    Any advice? Thanks!

I don't want to sound like a wise ***, but if you can log in, you are in your system. You just don't have a GUI. startx will not work in Darwin. I recommend reloading MacOS X from the original disk or a retail disk (Black with a big grey X on it). I also suggest that when you put in the install disk that you hold down the option key while powering up. If the disk is bootable it will show up on the screen. Select it and then hit the proceed arrow on the right side.
