OSX sends out Dhcp requests thru the wrong interface

I have setup an Xserve so far only providing file services over AFP. It is located in our computer room on a different broadcast domain. I use a separate machine as a DNS. I would like to use my Xserve's 2nd ethernet interface to provide Netboot/Netinstall services on a 192.168.x.x network for bulk imaging of our clients. I have enabled Dhcp and setup Netboot on the eth1 but the system.log shows that it is floding my computer room network sending dhcp requests from eth0.
I have checked the bootpd.plist file and the settings seem ok.

Check your terminology.
it is floding my computer room network sending dhcp requests from eth0.
The only way it would send any DHCP traffic on en0 would be if en0 was configured to use DHCP for its own configuration.
Running as a DHCP server is entirely passive - nothing happens until the server receives a request from a client on the LAN. Only at that point does the DHCP server send any traffic out over the wire.
In addition, 'flood' is a relative term. How much traffic are we talking here? Are you talking a few packets such as in the normal DHCP client request/refresh cycle, or are you talking hundreds of packets a second?

  • Calendar is sending out new requests when I delete an event...

This goes under the bizarre category.  After upgrading to Yosemite, when I delete an event, it is sending out new requests to the people that were on the event.
100% reproducible.  We use Exchange Server.

Phil, thank you for that info.  I just found the incoming section, but is different from what you show.  I don't have the "Delete from server" setting on my phone.  After Authentication mine shows IMAP Path Prefix/ and then goes to the Server Port as the next setting.  This is in my work email account and the one I really want to save on the server.  Any other idea or explanation on why different??
On my personal account (Yahoo), the advanced screen was much different, but I think I found the same setting and changed it to never.  That one appears to be working.
I appreciate your help a lot!!

  • HT5787 Apple is sending my reset-email to the wrong address!!!

I would like to reset my password for my Apple Id.
But, I forgot one of the security questions.
    I follow the procedure:
    - I requested the reset-email.
    - I have access to the email registered with apple id
    - the reset-email has not arrived
    I tried couple of times.
But, below the security questions, it says it will send the reset email to the address  [email protected]
The thing is: I do NOT have any email like that registered with apple.
Is apple sending my reset-email to the wrong address??
What do I do? There is no link to report this directly to Apple, is there??
Thanks a lot to the community.
    Clarice

You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; ways of contacting them include phoning AppleCare and asking for the Account Security team, clicking here and picking a method for your country, and filling out and submitting this form.
They wouldn't be security questions if they could be bypassed without Apple verifying your identity.

why do my ical invitation acceptances send out multiple acknowledgements to the meeting intiator?

    Hi,
    Welcome to the    Discussions
So we have DSL Modem <-> Base Station <-> Computer connected by Ethernet.
    Is the Modem Routing ?
Is the Base Station set to "Share An IP" ?
(i.e are there two DHCP servers on your LAN ?)
Is Internet Sharing On in th G5s System Preferences > Sharing pane ?
In the Base Station is Port Mapping Protocol Enabled if it is doing routing ?
It is in the NAT tab of the Internet Pane.
Is the G5 also doing WiFi to the Base Station ?
Also check the Modem is not Blocking PINGS as this log shows no PING (But I am not sure it even got that far)

    Hello,
    Here is my 2 cents.
Oracle recommends you set the Oc4jCacheSize parameter to reduce the occurrences of MOD_OC4J_0087 and
related errors in your Apache error logs. To change this parameter, follow these steps:
    1. Stop the OPMN processes on the middle tier.
    2. On the middle-tier computer, open a terminal window and go to $ORACLE_HOME/Apache/Apache/conf.
    3. Enter the following command:
    cp mod_oc4j.conf mod_oc4j.conf.pre3604573
    4. Edit the mod_oc4j.conf file by adding the following line after the </IfModule> line, but before the
    Oc4Jmount /j2ee/* line:
    Oc4jCacheSize 0
    5. Start the OracleOPMN processes on the middle tier.
I would still suggest to analyze the stack trace further for exact issues.

  • What do i do if the phone locks me out due to using the wrong password

what do i do if the phone locks me out due to using the wrong password?

Do you mean the lock screen? If you have forgotten the password you have to restore the device and delete everything. Before you say "that's dumb, apple!" be happy it's not possible to hack because if someone stealsyourphone at least they can't hack it.

  • App imitates sending out a virus over the network

The last time I ran the Classic App called "Farallon Ping" which came with my old Farallon NC I bought years ago was back in 2003 or 2004 and I was told by IS of the University I was attending not to run it again as the app makes it appear to be sending out viruses over the network. The app is useful as it tells me my IP address and the IP address of every computer in my domain and offers many other features some of which that are lacking in the built in OSX utilities.
I am at a much larger University these days and I was wanting to run this app for the features but not sure if I should.
Is this post appropriate for this group and if so what do you say?
    Thanks

Know nothing about Farallon Ping. Would MacPing at http://74.125.93.104/translate_c?hl=en&sl=nl&u=http://dartware.com/downloads/leg acy.html do the same thing?

  • WLC 5508 Flexconnect dhcp request landing on wrong vlan/dhcp pool

    Hi,
We've recently setup our 5508 to work with Flexconnect. The 5508's run on 8.0.100, they are setup redundant. On the remote site we've setup a local dhcp pool for the various WLAN's/VLAN's. The AP's have registered with the WLC succesfully.
We then setup the flexconnect groups, added the ap's and configured 1 vlan mapping to it's corresponding wlan id. Alsio setup the wlan, made it so it's using flexconnect, bound it to the interface which will allow it to reach the local dhcp machine.
User can see the SSID, can login using the password, but they are awarded an ip addres from a different dhcp pool, meant for antoher vlan than the bonding in the flexconnect group is indicating.
When I check the local dhcp pool for bindings on the mac address of a machine I can see multiple bindings. At 1 point I had 3 bindings in different pools, 1 on the native vlan for the AP, 1 on the vlan it should have and 1 on another vlan which wasn't configured anywhere in the flexconnect setup.
Does anybody have a clue how and why this is happening?

Just to add to Salma... All your AP's in FlexConnect are most likely connected to a trunk port. Make sure the native Vlan is defined and the vlan's are allowed on the trunk port. Then you need to verify that the AP's native Vlan and WLAN to Vlan mappings are correct. Seems like you might have some AP's that are not defined properly and that's why users that connect to a WLAN is getting in the wrong subnet.

  • Is it possible to send out notification request to approve PO?

    Dear all,
In case user delete the mail which is workflow send out the PO needs his/her approval. How can I send it out the same nofitication to users?
    Thanks,
    Amy

You can not re-send the email.
However, the user can simply go to the workflow notifications screen.
    Purchasing Superuser > Notifications summary.
The workflow notification will still be there. You can open it and approve the PO.

  • Microsoft Outlook 2010 email stuck at outbox, the mail will successful send out after you restart the outlook

    Dear Mdm/Sir,
I've a problem on Microsoft outlook 2010 with service pack 2.
Sometime it cannot send out email, the email will stuck at outbox.  It only work after you restart the outlook and resend.
I've add the 2 email account into this Outlook profiles and running at Windows 7 professional Operating system.
I've try run the Outlook into safe mode, but it can't solve the problem too.
I also create a new email profile and user profile, but still cannot solve the problem.
    Please help,
    Thank you,
    Wcnw

Can you please check onto the Exchange server, the Outbox folder size and Items in it. Use the below command to verify the Outbox folder.
    Get-MailboxFolderStatistics -Identity <Alias> -FolderScope Outbox
Look out for ItemsInFolder and FolderSize. If it displays content in it, you would need to remove the emails from the Outbox Folder. The Outbox folder can be accessed from the OWA light version.

  • Time Capsule not passing wifi dhcp requests on the b/g network

Here's a weird one. Got two 1GB Time Capsules setup in bridge/extend mode. The Win2003 server is serving up DHCP on capsule 1 and I have wifi devices on capsule 2. Both laptops are using the N wifi spec and are getting an IP address from the Win2003 dhcp server. However, the iPhone is on the b/g network and it cannot get a dhcp request. I haven't tried the b/g network on capsule 1 yet but will. Has anyone seen this behaviour before? Would be annoying if I have to setup a 2nd dhcp server on the capsule 2 system. Essentially one capsule is in my basement and the other in my office upstairs. Any ideas?
    Thanks, Joe

The reason you see conflicting conclusions is because we have to speculate about a lot of the details since Apple has not yet posted detailed specs, a user manual, or application tips.
Most of us are assuming the the wireless networking features of the Time Capsule will be similar if not identical to the existing Airport Extreme N base station. If that assumption is correct, your questions would be answered as follows:
    1. yes, the TC could be used as an access point. It would have to be configured as a remote base station in a wireless distribution system (WDS).
    2. and 3. yes, other clients on the network would be able to access the TC hard drive and printer
    4. you could set things up the other way around - TC as the base station, and the older Airport Extreme as the remote base station.
    5. for 802.11g connections, the older base station and its external antenna should give the older base station better range than the TC since power output for both models at the 802.11g standard should be similar.

  • TS2755 Is anyone else having issues trying to send out text messages since the new update?

Been having issues sending out iMessages to other iPhone users. Seems to be very slow to send or does not send at all since the new update. I've been having to restart my phone or click the message and send as a text. Is anyone else experiencing this same issue?

I had trouble texting today as the touch screen was not responsive until I rebooted. Had nothing to do with my carrier.
I also have trouble with the SwiftKey app when the keyboard does not display.  I sometimes can get it back up by going in Setting-General-Keyboard-SwiftKey and turning it off then back on.  But just as many times it will only display again after a reboot. I don't know if this is iOS 8.1.1 or SwiftKey.
