OSX Server as spam filter only and not mail server?

We have a mail server runnning on a Sun RAQ 550. I was wondering if I could set up OSX server 10.3.9 for spam filtering only. That is, filter spam for our domain, but have not have any accounts set up on it. Is this possible?

Anyway, here we go again:
Yes it is possible. 10.4.x has all you need. For 10.3.x you will have to manually install amavisd, spamassassin and clamAV. How-to has been discussed as well here and on http://www.afp548.com
Once you have it everything installed, it is a matter of tweaking a few configuration files to forward scanned mail to your actual mail server.

Click on the hard drive on the desktop, then File > Get Info. What does it say about permissions? If this is just a data drive you may want to consider "ignore ownership on this volume".
Otherwise I can only say I have not been reading good things about Seagate drives recently. I have some of their rock-solid ones from about 10 years ago (still running well), but now...?

Just drop it into the message. It goes as an attachment. Or select the image, CTRL- or RIGHT-click and select Compress .... from the context menu. Then attach the archive.

I bought MLB.tv premium through Apple TV however I was not provided with a user ID and password to be able to log in on to the computer to watch as I would if I bought directly from MLB.tv. Is this a scam? Anyone else have this issue.

Podcasts showing up on iPhone only and not iPod anymore.

Have been keeping all my music and podcasts on an iPod and not on my iPhone5s. With the latest IOS update a Podcast icon showed up on my iPhone. Now my subscribed poscasts show up on my iPhone only and not in iTunes nor my iPod. How do I convert back to my old setup? All previous podcasts are still on the iPod, just the latest downloads since the update are on the iPhone.

To help troubleshoot this issue where you are not receiving all iMessages on your iPhone please follow the steps outlined below.
If you aren't receiving iMessages across all iOS devices
Go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive on each iOS device and make sure that you signed in with your Apple ID. You must use the same Apple ID on each device.
Go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive > You Can Be Reached By iMessage At and make sure that you selected each phone number and email address you want to use with iMessage.
If you linked a phone number to your Apple ID with iMessage and the phone number hasn't appeared, follow these steps.
Sign out of your Apple ID in Settings > Messages > Send & Receive and Settings > FaceTime on all devices.
If you're linking a phone number to an Apple ID, sign in to iMessage on your iPhone first. Then sign in to the rest of your device one by one with iMessage and FaceTime.

How to delete email from iPhone ONLY and not from server?

Hi. I have a Yahoo! POP mail account.. Can anyone advise me how to setup my iPhone so it ONLY deletes email from the iPhone and NOT the server. So, after I read an email on the iPhone and delete it, the email remains in the INBOX on the server? If not, I will send a feedback to Apple. BTW - I can dl and send email just fine. Thank you.

When you setup Yahoo on the iPhone it defaults to IMAP because Yahoo offers free IMAP Push for iPhone users, as discussed in this article:

If you add your Yahoo account as "other" it will be setup as POP.
With IMAP messages are stored on the server, and messages created in one email client, such as the iPhone, show up in the sent mailbox on both. In addition messages moved to a different folder on the iPhone, will be in a different folder when you access your Yahoo mail via a web browser or another IMAP client. Likewise message you delete, will also be synchronized and deleted.

Delete message from phone only and not server

Hello,
I had an issue with my mail settings today and had to delete an email account (Hotmail) and set it up again. Upon doing this, there is no longer the option to delete downloaded message from the phone only and keep it on the server. Is that correct? I have tried everything but as soon I delete a message from my phone, it automatically deletes from the server as well.
Info : iphone 6 plus, Ver 8.3 (latest)

I need a answer to the question " why all the objects are created on heap only in java and not on stack " ?
In java a object is created when we specify new i.e. for example,
consider the following cases.
1.
Vector v = new Vector();
here object is created and the reference to this object is assigned to variable v. okie.
2.
when i write something like
Vector vec ;
Here i am creating reference variable for Vector. No object is created and no seperate memory is allocated for it. Reference variablesa are stored along with other primitive variables on the java stack.
My question is, in C++ by writing case 2 i can create an object and it is creating this object on stack. So why in java object is not created on stack while i do like this ? Why in java objects are created on heap only ?
If my question is out of interest of this forum i apologize for it. But if somebody can throw some light on it, it would be of great help.

I asked this question just to understand how compiler and jvm cud have been designed......i.e. to know the philosophy behind designing language.......
now what i cud surmise is that if objects were to be stored in stack then on calling garbage colllector , it may delete some unused obj and unreferenced object(unreachable object) and this in turn may give rise to non-contagious areas in stack, thus nullifying the garbage collector's objective of freeing the the memory. Again deallocating that intersperse spaces into one free block of space will be bit troublesome task.....
So considering above factor the designer of jvm and java compiler have opted for storing objects on heap rather than stack.....
If u have something to say bout this.......pls go ahead.......

Why does standby start automatically in read only and not in mount?

running 10.2.0.4 EE on windows 2008
i have the problem that when starting the windows servcie for the standby database, the db automatically runs into the read only mode and NOT as desired in the mout state
only if I am starting the standby like following:
STARTUP NOMOUNT;
ALTER DATABASE MOUNT STANDBY DATABASE
I will get my desired result.
what do I have to configure in order that restarting the windows service (or only make a startup on the sqlplus prompt...) will bring up the standby in mount state?

This is the expected behaviour. In 10g , if we invoke startup on a standby database, it automatically opens the database in READ ONLY mode. Not tested the same on other versions. You may want to use -STARTMODE option with oradim to set the instance startup to manual and bring it up manually every time.

You can disable the Firefox Password Manager and use form autocomplete to remember the name.

Exporting edited versions only, and not the original RAW as well...?

Is there a way to export only the processed versions from an project, and not all the un-processed images as well?
Perhaps a check-box in the export versions dialog, would be an idea of doing this?
Or do you guys have another work-around to this problem? Smart albums?

I assume that you want to only export those images that you have applied adjustments to. It is in Aperture 2.1 very easy to create a Smart Album within your Project where you select those adjustments that need to be applied in your filtering or you can just exclude those that doesn't have any adjustments.
Use the option "Any" or "All" and you can even have several filtering lines with the adjustment options in the Smart Album filtering HUD.

How can I configure CTRL+Backspace to delete the previous word only and not the preceding space?

The title pretty much explains it all. I'm using a different computer than usually and I'm pretty sure it used to only delete the word and not the space.

Your observation is correct: Ctrl+BackSpace shouldn't delete the preceding space. However, if words are separated by two spaces, one of those spaces will be deleted.

This is not the observed functionality in every case. It seems that MSWord haphazardly either removes the space or doesn't remove it.
As an example, if I type "and when" and hit CTRL+Backspace, it will either delete the word only or the word and the space, but in most cases it will remove the space as well ("and when" becomes "and"). It seems to toggle between the two but I have no idea

Yes, you can. Simply plug the TC via Ethernet into the current router and set it up in bridge mode.
