OSX SL wont automount downloaded .dmg and open it
I have a Mac at work and if I download a .dmg or a .dmg.zip file using safari it will save it to the downloads folder and then automatically unzip and mount it and after mounting the dmg will open up a window. I find this very convenient.
Now at home I have a macbook pro also running SL 10.6.8 and here if I download a .dmg or .dmg.zip safari simply saves it to downloads. It does not automatically mount it. If the file is a .dmg.zip safari unzips it but leaves it at that.
Also if I doubleclick the downloaded .dmg it mounts but does not open. I have to then double click the mounted drive to open it. Can anyone help me.
I have the setting Open safe files after downloading ticked in safari. No other mounting utilities are installed, the osx setup is pretty much at its defaults on both machines.

Update: I finally bit the bullet and reinstalled SL. The version on the install disk was 10.6.7 and both of the above problems disappeared.
Then I applied the combo update to 10.6.8 and safari stopped automounting downloaded disk images.
However now if I click the dmg, it mounts and opens the dmg front page automatically. So that side of the problem has disappeared.
Clearly all this is a setting somewhere because at work my Mac is running 10.6.8 and it all works correctly.

Anyone please help.Looks like your problem lies by the file associations, i.e. extension of your jsp file (.JSP) is associated in your operating system with DreamWeaver rather than with IE. If you are using Windows you should be able to change file associations, so that all web pages including JSP will be opened in your browser.

when I open It using Altova gives .wsdl is not well-formed
character 'x' is grammatically unexpected............
All I want to do is copy the wsdl code and save it as *.wsdl and when I open It should not give errors. I could not not even open it in the browser tab.

I have done the following steps
1. In this page http://webservices.imacination.com/distance/index.jsp
2. I have right clicked on WSDL http://webservices.imacination.com/distance/Distance.jws?wsdl
3. I dont have option "save target as ... " I have "save link as" so selected that
4. Save as option window appeared with Distance.jws with save as type "All Files"
5. I removed .jws and saved it as Distance.wsdl
6. When I opened it gave me the following error

After I downloaded Morzilla and opened it, an aol page with all kinds of junk appeared
New computer. I downloaded the latest Morzilla Firefox browser software. When I clicked on the icon an aol page was there with all kinds of junk...not the morzella-google page. No morzilla toolbar, no bookmark capability. Just aol ads.
I am already an aol member so I just want a better browser.Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.

* "Remove the Cookies" from sites causing problems: Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

Adobe reader wont let me highlight, and opens pdf in read only mode, why?
I need help with highlighting pdf, and tke it out of read only mode . When i go to the text edit thing it say "To modefy this document save a copy on device" Its already on my device, so why does it say that? I was able to highlight this pdf before. Was there a recent update that diabled highlighting ?
What is your operating system? Reader version? Are these PDFs writable or read-only on your device?

Some web pages only show as a four inch strip down the middle of my screen. Some information gets cut off from the web page. Increasing the font size does nothing to help.
You may have accidentally set the page zoom by using the keyboard shortcut to zoom out.

How can I save a file in the Downloads folder and automatically have it opened?
Often, I'd like to download a file, save it to my Downlaods folder and have it opened right away.
Currently, you can only decide between the two options "open" or "save to...". There's seemlingly no way Firefox can do both at once.
I know I can download it, open the downloads manager and open it manually. But when working with over a dozen documents a day, that doesn't quite do the trick.
In Chrome, you only have to click twice: Once for downloading and once for opening it from the download bar on the bottom of the screen. You do not have to open a download manager.Yeah, thanks but that's not what I was trying to ask.
I know that you can save and open a document by performing these three steps:
1. Confirming to save a file to the Downloads folder
2. Open the download manager by clicking the temporarily green arrow
3. Clicking on the downloaded file
What I would like to know is whether or not it is possible to have Firefox open a saved file ''automatically''. At the moment, if I choose to open it automatically, it is only saved to my temp folder.
It would be great though if it was saved to my Downloads folder ''and'' opened with the respective program on my pc. Is there a way to do this? -
My mac is converting Word and Excel files into Pages and Numbers files when I click to open them from an email. Downloading them and opening them doesn't help. How do I make this stop? I don't use iLife and don't want to; my clients are using Office and it's easier for me, except when I have to copy and paste everything they send me from an iLife file back to Word and Excel. Help!!! It's like Apple has become Microsoft, forcing us to use their apps.
Do you have Word & Excel installed, if yes, navigate in the finder to an example of each, right click and select 'Get Info' scroll down to 'Open With' and select the appropriate program, check the box that says 'Change All'

Late 2013 iMac on OSX 10.9.1 keeps crashing and restarting
My iMac's been crashing lately while using Manga Studio with a Wacom tablet and listening to iTunes, usually after about 40m~1h of using the two programs together. However, I don't believe those programs themselves to be the cause. This is something I do frequently, but these crashes have only started happening about a day ago or so happening about 4 times total by now. I'm thinking it's a software issue, probably a background application, but I can't tell what the offender is. If anybody out there could help me, I'd really appreciate it!

Any third-party software that doesn't install by drag-and-drop into the Applications folder, and uninstall by drag-and-drop to the Trash, is a system modification.
Whenever you remove system modifications, they must be removed completely, and the only way to do that is to use the uninstallation tool, if any, provided by the developers, or to follow their instructions. If the software has been incompletely removed, you may have to re-download or even reinstall it in order to finish the job.
I never install system modifications myself, and I don't know how to uninstall them. You'll have to do your own research to find that information.
Here are some general guidelines to get you started. Suppose you want to remove something called “BrickMyMac” (a hypothetical example.) First, consult the product's Help menu, if there is one, for instructions. Finding none there, look on the developer's website, say www.brickmymac.com. (That may not be the actual name of the site; if necessary, search the Web for the product name.) If you don’t find anything on the website or in your search, contact the developer. While you're waiting for a response, download BrickMyMac.dmg and open it. There may be an application in there such as “Uninstall BrickMyMac.” If not, open “BrickMyMac.pkg” and look for an Uninstall button.
Back up all data before making any changes.
You will generally have to reboot in order to complete an uninstallation. Until you do that, the uninstallation may have no effect, or unpredictable effects.
If you can’t remove software in any other way, you’ll have to erase and install OS X. Never install any third-party software unless you're sure you know how to uninstall it; otherwise you may create problems that are very hard to solve.
WARNING: Trying to remove complex system modifications by hunting for files by name often will not work and may make the problem worse. The same goes for "utilities" such as "AppCleaner" and the like that purport to remove software. -
Upgraded to OSX 10.8.2 and now I can't run any downloaded dmg files.

Select your hard drive in the Finder and choose File -> Get Info. What is the available space?

if you have mac, install the dmg and trash the 7z.
if you have win, you need to download the matching exe, put both the exe and 7z in the same directory and then double click the exe.

The following Knowledge Base article offers up some great preliminary steps for troublehsooting issues with launching iTunes afer updating in Windows 7:
iTunes for Windows doesn't open after upgrading in Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8 - Apple Support
Make sure you are using the latest version of iTunes.
Windows Vista and Windows 7:
Choose Start > Computer.
In the Organize menu, click Folder and Search Options.
Windows 8:
From the File Explorer window, click Computer on the panel to the left.
Click View > Options.
From the Folder Options window, click the View tab.
In the "Advanced settings:" pane under "Hidden files and folders," select "Show hidden files and folders."
Click OK.
Navigate to the following location by entering it in the address bar or clicking through the folder hierarchy listed: C:\ProgramData\Apple Computer\iTunes\SC Info.
Right-click the SC Info.sidb file shown and click Delete.
Right-click the SC Info.sidd file shown and click Delete.
Restart the computer and open iTunes.
If the above steps don't resolve the issue, try these steps.

HT1926 Latest iTunes software wont completely download and now I can't open iTunes at all?
Hi! I really hope someone can help me with this-
iTunes just had a popup that there was new software to install, so I chose the update to iTunes. The download was almost finished, but then it stopped and said there was a problem with the download (obviously) and to try to install it from within the program. Fine by me. Only, I can't open iTunes now?? It tells me that, "The item refered to by this shortcut cannot be accessed. You may not have the appropriate permissions."
I'm not even going to try and pretend that I know what that means, lol. I searched my entire computer for iTunes and every shortcut/folder/etc with 'iTunes' in it gives me an error message of some sorts. D:
I even tried to re-download iTunes from this site, but it gets halfway and then gives me error message 2324.
What do I do from here? I really don't want to uninstall iTunes (if it even still exists on my computer) because I'm afraid I'll all the modified song information that I just spent literately hours updating last week. >_<
-SicaSimilar problem here. iTunes11 notified me it was available. However, auto-update failed. So, I downloaded for manual update. That failed with "permission" message. I am administrator on this machine (WIN7). I tried uninstalling old version, but it failed with same permission issue. I now can't start iTunes... throws permission message. So, I'm completely dead in the water. Does this stuff get tested before it's shipped?

I have recently updated my CC programs to the latest version (CC2014) and now all of my files wont open by default into their respective programs, only if I open the program and go to file>open and open the file from there. How can I fix this?
I have tried 'Open with' and the version of the program now installed on my computer isn't even suggested as an option and when I browse for it, the file wont open with it anywayOn Windows (don't know about Mac), the latest version will always take over the file association, and become the default for indd files. It's impossible to change it.
But there is a plugin for ID that makes this possible. Never tried it myself.

Appstore keynote won't open (mountain lion)
Just downloaded Keynote 5.2 from the AppStore (Mountain Lion 10.8.2). The icon keeps jumping forever until the app loading hangs. It does not crash or present any message, just stays there like a zombie. Not alive, not dead. Anyone seem this before?
