OSX Software wont install on MB pro after crash

I have a macbook pro that crashed. This happened once before about 6 months ago and i replaced the drive. This time i ran DU and it repaired drive. I also ran Drive Genius 2 and it said there was nothing wrong with the drive but i can not install my OS. I tried to install both Snow Leopard as well as Lion and they keep stopping part way through saying there were errors.
Im thinking it is still the drive but does anyone have any ideas?

If you boot from your Snow Leopard disc and run Disk Utility, is your drive still coming up with errors when you try to Verify disk? Most OS X installers check the reliability of the internal (or external) disk that you're installing the OS on. If the drive doesn't pass the test, you'll usually get an error message.
Try verifying and repairing the disk again before proceeding with install. If you come up with errors again the disk may just be bad.

1)Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc and look for file named hosts inside etc folder.
2)Copy the hosts file to Desktop and open the same with notepad.
Check with the hosts file entries , let me know if there are any Adobe entries like 127.0.01 xxx.,adobe.com .activate.adobe.com....etc?
If there are no Adobe entries in Hosts file .
If you wish , you may uinstall and reinstall the app .
You may try below steps :
Open Control Panel and Navigate to Control Panel\Programs\Programs and Features .
Under Program and Features list, locate Adobe Creative Cloud and uninstall it.
End all Adobe related Tasks from Task Manager.
    Open C:drive and navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe.
Open Adobe folder and delete folders named Adobe Application Manager and OOBE.
    Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe.
Open Adobe folder and if present delete Adobe Creative Cloud folder.
Press Windows button (located between Ctrl and Alt buttons) along with R button together at a time , you will get a run command window.
Type in below command and hit 'Enter' key.
    appdata
    Then navigate to Local>Adobe.
Open Adobe folder and delete folders named AAMUpdater and OOBE.
Click on the below link and download Creative Cloud setup file and use the same to install the Creative Cloud Desktop application.

  • Can't load previously installed Acrobat 9 Pro after my CS6 trial expired.

Can't load previously installed Acrobat 9 Pro after my CS6 trial expired. Keeps asking to buy the trial version or license the software (in reference to the CS6 trial, even though I'm loading my own Acrobat 9 Pro from my CS4 Creative Suite I purchased and had previously installed--still installed to my knowledge...at least I never uninstalled it anyway, if that helps)
    Thank you!

Yes. I have tried to repair it, but it still didn't work. I had to completely uninstall - reboot - then do a clean install. Works beautifully for a few weeks, then nothing.

I cannot start installing Acrobat X Pro after I click the Install button. Please advice.

Which operating system are you using?  Do you receive any error messages?  Is this the trial of Adobe Acrobat X Professional or have you purchased the software?

  • Unable to install Windows 7 pro after restart by Boot Camp Assistant

    Hello,
I have an issue with installing windows 7 pro 64bit on my MBP 13" mid 2009.
    It has 500GB Samsung HDD.
I tried to install windows 7 on a boot camp partition with boot Camp assistant and also during the process, I
downloaded the driver helpers from apple website and burned it on dvd. after system restart, It starts to load windows
files and then asks me to give it the cd of drivers [ right after I select the country and language in the start of the setup ]
I tried to select the files of the cd [ which I burned by the boot camp assistant ] but it just keeps telling me there is
NO suitable driver matches my mac.
I have downloaded the genuine windows 7 and burned it on dvd.
Also I have Lion, Boot Camp 4.0.1
Can someone please help on this issue?
    Many thanks,

The partition table needs to be repaired.
That is why the guide asks to backup before you begin.
Try Lion Recovery and check health of all the partitions.
Sometimes repairing or try shrink and expand the partition.
But it is not uncommon for what happened to you to render the drive with smaller HFS and then require erase the drive in some cases and restore.
    Carbon Copy Cloner 3.4.2
    Cloning as a Backup Strategy
CCC is now able to also clone Lion's Recovery Partition as well.
Check partition table health in Lion's Disk Utility
    Create Lion Recovery Drive
    Lion Recovery Mode

  • AIRPORT EXPRESS SOFTWARE WONT INSTALL

    Hello All,
Anyone know a reason why I can't install the Airport Express software on my Mac Book Pro?
When I place the disk in the drive the icon comes up on the desktop. I open the icon and click on the installer to begin the installation process. Once, I get through all the legal mumbo jumbo and to the destination drive screen, the installer tells me that the version of OS X I have isn't supported. Is 10.5.1 compatible with the software? If not, where I can I get a copy of "compatible" software?
    Thanks
    Calvin

calgenjon, Welcome to the discussion area!
Don't worry about that software. Instead use "AirPort Utility" which you will find in the /Applications/Utilities directory.

  • Cannot Install Acrobat 9 Pro after Installing IE8

The story... Running Vista Business.  I've been running Acrobat 9 Pro for a while now.  I have since upgraded my browser from IE6 (default install) to IE7 to IE8.  Today I decided to uninstall/reinstall Acrobat 9 Pro to troubleshoot an issue.  All of a sudden, the Acrobat 9 Pro installer quits during the preinstall checks and says, "Acrobat requires Internet Explorer version 6".
At this point, downgrading IE is out of the question (for a multitude of reasons), so I re-ran the Acrobat 9 installer, this time doing a custom install.  In the advanced settings, I unchecked the PDFMaker for Internet Explorer option.  After that, the installer ran without any errors.  Wanted to post this in case some else out there runs into this issue.
Apparently when Adobe built Acrobat 9, they assumed that IE versions would never go above 6.
    Bug or bust? Your call.

Hi, yes, understood that they are different things. However, if I'm to
rely on the link provided on the first reply then does it follow that 9
Pro is also not supported on Mountain Lion? I have a MACbook here on OSX
Mountain Lion, and as I've also mentioned on my first post, I was able to
install 9 Pro and update it as well.
It really is just odd that Lion is singled out here. I also checked this
and there is no mention of problems with updating 9 Pro:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/known-issues-mac-os-10.html
Sorry, but just trying to really find a workaround for this issue right
now. We though of using X Pro instead but, again, if I rely on the system
    requirements on this link -
    http://www.adobe.com/sea/products/acrobatpro/tech-specs.html - the OSX
version our user has is still not supported.
    Mac OS
    Intel processor
    Mac OS X v10.5.8 or v10.6.4
    512MB of RAM (1GB recommended)
    1.2GB of available hard-disk space
    1024x768 screen resolution
    DVD-ROM drive
    Safari 4 for Mac OS X v10.5.8; Safari 4 or 5.0.x for Mac OS X v10.6.4
    Thanks.

  • Apple works 6.0.04 wont install on macbook pro 2.4 running 10.4.11

    Please help me!!
As a teacher we use imacs in the school with applworks 6, my husband bought me a 2.4 macbook pro but when i try and install it, it says not supported by the system, the version is 6.0.4, after looking at the forums it appears i need 6.2.9 would this be the case.
The other thing that bothers me is, on finding out that appleworks 6.0.4 did not work, my husband then bought me iwork 08, but this does not recognise my old appleworks files.
    Please help!!
p.s. an educated guess would be,if it turns out that i need appleworks 6.2.9, will this mean any files made by this version will open in iwork 08, but any older appleworks files will not, which presumably mines are.
How do i get a newer version, what as i need something on the mac first so a 6.2.9 update will not work

What can i use to open files made by the 6.0.4 classic version?
AppleWorks 6. The iWork applications - Keynote, Pages & Numbers - can open AppleWorks 6 presentation, word processing & spreadsheets only.
You have a couple of options, buy a newer copy of AppleWorks (at least 6.2 that has an OS X installer) or find a Mac that can use Classic/OS 8 or 9. If you use another Mac, install AppleWorks 6, update it to at least 6.2.4, burn the whole AppleWorks 6 folder to a CD (this gives you a backup so you don't have to go through this again), remove AppleWorks from the temporary Mac (to keep within the Apple software license) & copy the AppleWorks 6 folder to the Applications folder on your Leopard Mac. AppleWorks will create any preferences & other support files needed as long as you have the whole AppleWorks 6 folder. If you don't have, or don't know someone with, a Mac to use, a possible source would be a local user group. You can look for one near you on Apple's Find a User Group page.
If you would ever have the need to open ClarisWorks 4 or earlier files, you need to be aware that AppleWorks 6.2.9 (the current version) can't open all of these files. It gives an I/O error. There doesn't appear to be a way to predict which files will cause problems. I've had it happen & not happen with all AppleWorks file types. These files can be opened by any other version of AppleWorks 6, so a good choice would be AppleWorks 6.2.4. AppleWorks 6.2.4 is the earliest version stable in OS X. Avoid 6.2.7 - very, very, very buggy!
If you don't have access to a Mac with Classic or OS 8/9, you will need to buy a more current copy. Hardcore Mac is selling AppleWorks 6.2.4 the last time I looked. You also can sometimes find AppleWorks 6 on eBay, but it might be difficult to be sure it's no newer than 6.2.4 and has an OS X-aware installer.

  • Windows 7 wont install on macbook pro 15

I have a 15 macbook pro with the latest version of leopard installed and windows 7 will just not work! I used bootcamp, partitioned the hd, formatted it to whatever windows needed to be installed and all went smoothly till the last stage where it was finalizing the installation (the black command prompt where it successfully authorized the serial number and proceeded to finalize everything), suddenly a windows pops up saying it cannot be installed and then the computer restarts and there is no way to resume installation after!
I tried twice and got the same error.
    I'm officially out of ideas...

It helps when you put your computer information (model/year and OS) in your Profile, it narrows down the problems sometimes.
If it partitioned the drive without any errors it has the oprion of letting you come back later to install Windows.
You "shouldn't" have any problems with your mouse or keyboard if they are wired. Windows does not have Bluetooth or Wireless drivers.
Is your computer 64 bit compatible? Here's some other links from @The hatter, read them throughly. This link is the dead one that is mentioned from @The hatter. They may or may be for your issues tho?

  • OSX Maverick WONT INSTALL!

I have downloaded OSX Maverick but when i try to install it it says  "Update requires version osx 10.9''. Isn't Maverick 10.9?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
You have downloaded OS X 10.9.1 from the Apple website, and that's an OS X 10.9 update.
Instead, you need to open the Mac App Store and download OS X Mavericks from there. Make a backup of your files with Time Machine and check that your apps are compatible > http://www.roaringapps.com
When the download finishes, the OS X Mavericks installer will appear, so follow the steps. You will have OS X 10.9.1 after upgrading

  • My bundled software wont install

I had OSX 10.6.6 and it was working great. I saw the opportunity to upgrade to Mavericks and did. It ruined all my hardware. Nothing for my hardware worked right with any of the programs. Then I tried to reinstall my old version clean and the bundled applications did not install it said contact the manufacturer. I did the hardware check it is fine. My hardware drive was upgraded to a 1 TB drive and this software that I paid for should work. So what do I do to get my garageband imovie and all that back.
I really hate the way your software is going since steve jobs died. It is an insult to his memory to have a system this bad on the open market.

I tried to look under the Download section for the Zen V on the Support site and I didn't find the Media Explorer for the Zen V. All we have is a patch for the application. But the Zen V is an MTP device. You can sync it with Windows Media Player 0 & or MediaMonkey. But still, if you want to see what downloads are available, copy-paste the link:

  • OSX Server wont install from clean boot

    Hello
I cannot get my Mac Mini to install osx server 10.5.4 straight of the DVD.
Only way i got it working was by installing normal leopard and then running the upgrade from within.
Please can i be told to how to install straight of the disk?
(When i try normally, it just reboots into osx/or gets stuck in a reboot loop?

In this case, you will have to have [whatever version of Mac OS X client is appropriate for this particular box|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1159] installed or reinstalled, then start the installation of Mac OS X Server per [HT3479|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3479]
If you've an unbootable installation on your disk as is likely the case here, use Disk Utility in the installer to erase the disk, and then roll in the backup you made prior to starting the installation of Mac OS X Server or roll in the Mac OS X client software from the DVD that came with the box, and then follow the steps defined in [HT3479|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3479].
As for the proposed sequence, you likely won't need to update the 10.5 Mac OS X software here (once that software is reinstalled or reloaded or installed onto the box), and can probably go straight to the Mac OS X Server installation, and can then update Mac OS X Server to current.

  • OSX update wont install

The new OSX update (10.6.6) would not finishing "writing" files even if i leave the MacBook Pro running for days.!!
    what shall I do.?

    Details in the following.
Get a bootable, external HD (preferably FireWire, since it's 40-50% faster than USB 2 and designed for data transfers), make a bootable backup/clone before updating/upgrading, and ensure that it's bootable and works like the original. That allows you to revert to the previous good state without having to reinstall or reset anything. See these for details:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106941
    http://www.macmaps.com/upgradefaq.html
    http://www.macmaps.com/backup.html
    http://www.thexlab.com/faqs/installswupdates.html
    http://www.thexlab.com/faqs/backuprecovery.html
If you only have a Time Machine backup, ensure that you can reliably restore it to another disk/volume/partition before updating/upgrading.

  • OSX Tiger wont install on iMac G5  17" (2006)

    hi all
I am trying to update my bosses' iMac G5 from OSX 10.3 to OSX Tiger 10.4.7 and it's hanging up at restart up with Garbled error text. Some of the text appeared in Japanese. Is this a firmware or Apple hardware issue? My boss does have the installer Disk 1&2. What can it be?
    Thanks
    Jim

Tiger install DVDs are in short supply. Tiger is no longer available at the Apple Store but is still available for $129 by calling Apple Phone Sales @ 1-800-MY-APPLE (1-800-692-7753). For other sources, do a Google search for MA453Z/A and M9639Z/A . Also look on eBay. Be sure & buy a retail version (black with silver X) and not a model specific version (gray).
Also check this web store http://www.lacomputercompany.com/cgi-bin/rpcart/index.cgi?command=dispitem&type= sku&sku=19521
