OSX Yosemite doesn't recognize shot (capture) date of the photos

Apparently OSX Yosemite doesn't recognize shot (capture) date of the photos.
The problem has highlithted after installing new Photo app, in which every photo is imported using the Creating date of the file, not the Shot date.

Use the disks that came with your Mac to do a custom install of the software you need, i.e. iPhoto.  The disk should look like #4 in this screenshot:

    Try trash the following file
    com.apple.ImageCaptureNotifications.DeviceDiscoveryDatabase.501
    from HD/Library/ Caches

    I scanned an old photo but the date displayed is today, I want the date to be the date the photo was taken.  How do I change the date of the photo in iPhoto 11?

    There are two kinds of metadata involved when you consider jpeg or other image file.
    One is the file data. This is what the Finder shows. This tells you nothing about the contents of the file, just the File itself.
    The problem with File metadata is that it can easily change as the file is moved from place to place or exported, e-mailed, uploaded etc.
    Photographs have also got both Exif and IPTC metadata. The date and time that your camera snapped the Photograph is recorded in the Exif metadata. Regardless if what the file date says, this is the actual time recorded by the camera.
    Photo applications like iPhoto, Aperture, Lightroom, Picasa, Photoshop etc get their date and time from the Exif metadata.
    When you export from iPhoto to the Finder new file is created containing your Photo (and its Exif). The File date is - quite accurately - reported as the date of Export.
    However, the Photo Date doesn't change.
    The problem is that the Finder doesn't work with Exif.
    So, your photo has the correct date, and so does the file, but they are different things. To sort on the Photo date you'll need to use a photo app.

  • IPhoto for iOS removes the GPS exif data from the photo after an edit

    iPhoto for iOS removes the GPS exif data from the photo after an edit
    Using the iPhone camera, I take a photo and then I want to make the photo a little brighter.
    So, I edit a photo using iPhoto for iOS and then save the photo back to the camera roll.
    Now, I might want to see where that photo was taken via another app (like Photo Mapo) or on the map using the Photos app, or even the Mac iPhoto app.
    However, the GPS data has been removed. Looks like all of the other exif data is still in the photo.
    Why not just have a feature to remove the GPS data if the user wants? no reason to remove it for them.
    The user explictily chose to have location services turned on so the GPS data would be in the photo.
    Is this a bug?
    Thanks,
    Brian.

    First thing to try is a reboot of your iPad. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the iPad restart. See if that fixes your problem.
    None of my cameras has a GPS function so I never see that data in the info of a photo in iPhoto for iOS. But I do see the map choice to set a location for the photo. Perhaps a reboot will fix this for you.

  • Yosemite doesn't recognize my built in RAID drives

    I have a MacPro circa 2010-2011. After installing Yosemite, it lost contact with and could not (or would not) locate my RAID drive. Built into the machine. Also, I have a backup drive built into the machine, so I was able to revert. But I'm concerned about updating if I lose all of my data.
    Has anyone else experienced this issue? Anyone have a solution?

    This is all without hardware Apple Pro RAID controller?
    How many drives? it would be an array volume, not "drive" and it can have multiple partition slices.
    Have you considered www.SoftRAID.com version 5 at all?
    Much easier to manage and handling of arrays, errors, and to manage partitions.
    When it comes to arrays and a new OS I would be prepared to delete and use the new OS to reload after creating new volume(s).
    As for RAID, this should be for media - not the system, the system being on a fast SSD and arrays - even when talking 15K drives in the past, aren't worth the added problems unless it is a mirror array and you need 24/7 for some reason where a clone (which you need anyway for backup) that can be popped in and be on your way in under 30 minutes.
    Yes there was someone a couple weeks ago that had trouble.
    Do a clean system install with all the other drives removed.
    Save the installer before it deletes itself so move it to another safe place.
    Use Setup Assistant after Yosemite is up and running and has all the current updates applied.
    (that is also a good time to clone the system too, btw)
    I don't see mention of type of drives and model and capacity, or type of array.
    Yosemite makes some changes to how volumes are handled.

  • Capturing data of the previous time interval with Oracle Stream(HotLog)

    I read from 10g Oracle manual that Oracle Steam can capture data within specified time interval with begin_data and end_data options.
    For example :
    BEGIN
    DBMS_CDC_PUBLISH.CREATE_CHANGE_SET(
    change_set_name => 'set_cns',
    description => 'set_cns...',
    change_source_name => 'HOTLOG_SOURCE',
    stop_on_ddl => 'y',
    begin_date => sysdate,
    end_date => sysdate + 1);
    END;
    However if I set begin_date to previous time from now, Oracle doesn't caputre data anymore in this case.(HotLog method)
    (I set begin_date => sysdate - 1/24
    end_date => sysdate + 1/24.)
    Does anybody know to capture the previous time interval with Oracle Stream?

    Change C2 to:
    cursor c2(passing_date IN date) IS
      SELECT MONITOR_ID, SAMPLE_ID,
                   COLL_TIME, DEW_POINT
        FROM ARCHIVE_DATA
        WHERE COLL_TIME < passing_date
        ORDER BY COLL_TIME desc;And rather than populating a table with the three records, you could just select the three records using: where COLL_TIME between Prev3_time and Prev1_time

  • Why "Corrupt File or Preview Doesn't Recognize format" msg. after moving the iPhoto folder?

    Hello,
    I've moved my iPhoto Library from my Mac HD to an external hard drive (WD My Book 1) and now there are no pictures in the iPhoto application when I open it. I have a collection of over 3000. When I click on a .jpg photo within the iPhoto Library I get the message: "Corrupt File or Preview Doesn't Recognize format".
    I've been told that this has something to do with moving the iPhoto library from one location to another and that I have to do something to have Tiger recognize iPhoto in its new location.
    I moved the iPhoto library from my Mac HD to one of the My Book Ext HDs. But there also was a back up  of iPhoto Library on the 150 GB Acomdata Ext HD taken from the Mac HD that wasn't moved. That back up was done on a scheduled backup using Carbon Copy Cloner. However, when I looked for the iPhoto Library on Acomdata, all that was there were the seven item that don't, I think, make up any kind of a library:
    Dir.data
    iPhoto.db
    iPhotoLock.data
    Library.iPhoto
    Thumb32.data
    Thumb64.data
    ThumbJPG.data
    Could someone please help me with this? I thought I had backup and also that I had moved the library carefully.
    In addition, there are other files that I've moved from the Mac HD to the external that aren't opening either, such as movies (.flv "The movie could not be opened), .rtf files ("File does not exist." and .pdfs ("File error. couldn't open the file.")
    Thanks,
    Rafael

    "The backup from  Acomdata doesn't appear to be a complete library."
         (How do you make a clip of lines you quote that has a different background color — avalible to Apple support discussions?)
    I didn't make that clear. The IPhoto Library backup wasn't to the Acomdata. I backed up IPhoto Library to the two 1 TB WD EHDs ("StorageUnit  WDnew" and "BU of StorageUnit  WDnew") then trashed the one on Mac HD.
    The backup you see on Acomdata (clone of Mac HD) isn't a complete library. It's nothing but a new library I started to create and it's to be ignored. I should remove it.
    Below is a picture of the back up of IPhoto Library and other items to the first WD "StorageUnit  WDnew". The backup on "BU of StorageUnit  WDnew" is the same. These two aren't bootable. They only store information. The Acomdata is bootable and that's where I back up my Mac HD. IPhoto used to be on the Mac HD and I moved it to "StorageUnit  WDnew". It's the same on "BU of StorageUnit  WDnew".
    Will "Rebuild IPhoto Library" be able to pull from the external HD?
    Why can't I drag and drop folders or files into the volumes in the side bar?
    Should I do anything with Ownership and Permissions before I Rebuild IPhoto Library?
    Should I press "Apply to enclosed items.” button to set the new read and write settings?
    I listed the equipment I use in My Profile in My Products again. I'd done that before. Also, my picture, also in profile, isn't showing up. See what happenns this time.
    Thanks. I have so much important stuff in those pictures that I'm very anxious to retrieve everything.

    Ok people after messing up three days with my jailbroken ipod touch cauze my itunes didn't recognize it i figured out that the problem is first windows recognized it as a imaging device o as a camera, i found in the device manager was listed mi apple ipod under portable devices and there was the problem it has to be listed under universal serial bus controllers named as a apple ipod so this is what i did but first make sure u have correctly installed itunes and the apple mobile device support:
    1 open the device manager or windows button + r is run and then type devmgmt.msc
    2 look for the portable devices and find the apple ipod or wherever that is listed on your pc.
    3 once u find the apple ipod do a right click on it and click on uptade driver software
    4 take the manualy opcion or browse on my computer and then look for this folder on your computer C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers
    there should be the driver that itunes recognize and your windows wont recognize your ipod as a camera again but i repeat u have to make sure u have installed the apple mobile device support u can get it by extracting the itunes+quicktime package using winrar. so click on update or next what ever on the update process and next time itunes will open your ipod for sincying thanks to forums ilounge.com

    junk mail filter in yosemite doesn't work. from the flags, i can't find the 'mark as junk' selection. Formerly clicking on the email address in question would allow one to 'remove from previous recipients' which would help to filter out spam. I've adjusted all the settings under mail preferences, but that is not helping.

    Hello Diane162,
    Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
    I understand that you would like to be able to filter some of the junk mail that you are receiving in Mail. The attached article has a lot of great information on junk mail filtering, including how to mark as junk and adjust the junk filter.

  • My camera doesn't work + it doesn't recognize external cameras. what's the problem here?

    I set up a new windows 7 version for my laptop (probook 4510s) & the camera doesn't work + it doesn't recognize any external camera. So how to fix my camera & get it back to work?

    What kind of external camera is this? I am assuming it is a USB camera? Make sure that you aren't using any USB hubs. Also try connecting it to another USB port. Have you installed the drivers from the camera manufacturer yet?
    Thanks,
    Sean

  • ITunes doesn't recognize my iPod out of the blue

    My USB cable recognizes my iPod because the battery icon on the top right corner will show that the iPod is being charged by the computer, but iTunes stopped recognizing my iPod and doesn't open anymore, even when I open it manually. I upgraded to the most recent version of iTunes, but it still doesn't work.

    No I didn't change anything about the software/hardware. All of the sudden iTunes stopped recognizing my iPod, but my computer obviously still recognizes it because my iPod will charge when it's connected to my computer. iTunes just doesn't recognize my iPod anymore, so I tried to download the updated version of iTunes (I got it from another site because I went to the download website on Apple and there weren't any directions or any pop-up boxes to allow me to download anything).

  • Any way to export from iPhoto and have the file date be the photo date?

    I can't deal with iPhoto any longer. I just imported photos from the last few days and they ended up being associated with some "Event" from Jul 19, 2007. So now I have an event that spans Jul 19, 2007 to Feb 21, 2009!!! I'd like to just display, sort, view all photos in my library by date (I am meticulous about dates on all my devices) but apparently that's not possible anymore. "Events" is the worse thing to ever happen to my photo library...
    So I'd like to export them all and just use the Finder. It actually works the way I'd like. However there does not seem to be any way to export the photos so that the file creation or the file modification date is the actual date the photo was taken as shown in the information box in iPhoto. Does anyone know how to to this? Or is this just the iPhoto engineers screwing with people like me who have gotten disgusted with their product?
    Thanks!

    Yes, I know what the Finder is... The cool thing is it actually does know about the contents of the file. For example it can display thumbnails of the images contained within.
    Even better the files can be sorted any way you want, are not hidden in some odd proprietary package, can be backed up, restored at will and can easily be programmatically changed using AppleScript. The file system for an OS is generally bullet-proof and as such doesn't screw with dates like iPhoto did (the events stuff screwed with all our dates and has been a disaster for us and the 40,000 or so pictures we had in our library).
    iPhoto has just gotten too modal, too bloated, and too proprietary while not providing the basics like a way for my wife and I to have a single library for all our photos. On the other hand using just the file system and some network storage this is easy.
    For the recored most pros I consulted with have moved to the file system and Finder as their primary means of managing their photos. I'm just looking for an easy way to get my stuff out of iPhoto so I can do the same.
